Keyword search of entire catalog

I have many of my photos tagged.  When I do a keyword search, it only searches the current directory - not even the sub-directories.  How do I get the search to go through my entire catalog?

You are probably trying to do this in Folder Location View.
You need to switch to Thumbnail View.
Both views can be seen from the Display Menu.

  • How to search the entire catalog

Question: I've got loads of folders in my library, and they span over several pages on the Folders section in the Library module. But, when I want to search for a photo using the Library filter, I need to always first, move my mouse and click manually over the Folders section to the top Parent folder before I can do a search on the entire catalog.
I was wondering how you go about searching the entire catalog, but with a quicker solution? I don't want to always have to find the most parent folder and click on it before I do a search across the entire library.
    Thanks in advance!

Maybe time to think about re-organising folders into sub-folders?  I got into the same position, and then created folders for each year, so I don't see individual folders unless I want to:
If you do that, remember to do it from inside Lightroom (just drag folders around) or Lightroom gets thoroughly confused.

  • Visual search unable to search entire catalog from within folders

Photoshop Elements used to let you search your entire catalog while looking at photos in folders.  That option does not seem to exist now.  Is there a way to get this feature back, or a workaround to use it?  I have over 800k photos and growing on my system.  For example all my files are sorted by yyyy-mm-dd, I used to be able to be looking at "x" photo in folder 2002-01-05 and tell it to search entire catalog for visually similar photos.  I've seen "x" photo in a different folder and want to search catalog for the duplicate.  The only way I have found to do this now is through import batches--that's like finding a needle in a haystack with all the photos I have.  That was a great feature as I had been able to date photos that I didn't know date on because of the visual similarity option and find duplicates easily.
    Thank you,
Photoshop Elements 12, Windows 8.1 system at the moment.
The option was in the preferences section, you could search just that folder or entire catalog.

Sorry I did not respond as I do not appear to be receiving notifications.
I have been doing some more testing around this and find that files over 10gb tend to fail almost immediately where as a 2gb file will get 1/4 of the way through.
My work around is my server has apache ftp server running on it so I use FTP at present (filezilla client). This yields positive results every time and the 10gb file completes in about 4 minutes with mean average speeds of ~20MiB/s (sometimes exceeding 60MiB/s
depending on other network activity) utilising 20-50% of my NIC capability.
There is obviously no issue with disk access or network performance, it appears to be an issue with the copy/paste functionality of Windows 7 itself rather than the use of any APIs by other applications.
I ran the 2 concurrently today and I was seeing much slower transmit times when it was running using windows copy/paste (5-10MB/s) however resouce manager was showing network usage of 30%. Could it be a TCP/IP timeout issue where copy/paste is using an unrealistic
    value?
Another run shows copy/paste using an expected amount of 20% while processing at 18MB/s. Still failed.
    Thanks

  • Keyword Search in Catalog

I am implementing SRM MDM 7.1 and Catalog 3.0.
The Standard SAP Keyword search will search in the searchable fields. I could find the Short Description, Special Search Term, External Manufacturer, Category are the searchable fields aganist which the Keyword string will search.
I wanted to add few more fields to this list of searchable fields.
Is this possible using Configuration? If yes, How.
Is this possible by customization. Please let me know how we can do the same.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
Please logon MDM console and check the repository. You can add additional fields in the catalog_items table and set keyword property.
If you are talking about advanced Search UI, please logon to UI configuration http://<host>.<domain>:<port>/SRM-MDM/SRM_MDM

  • I am looking into Lightroom (Creative Cloud) to allow a Team Member access my Catalog to keyword search which images will work for our Social Media platforms.

I am looking at LR Creative Cloud to allow a Team Member access my catalog so she can keyword search which images will work for our social media campaigns. My catalog has both personal and business images (which are in separate folders), however, I only want them to access the business images. What is the best way to do this?
and a second question as I am new to the Cloud LR product. I am assuming that my images still stay on my external drive...how am I or her able to view these images if I am out of town on another computer?

My catalog has both personal and business images (which are in separate folders), however, I only want them to access the business images. What is the best way to do this?
I think the only way in Lightroom to make this happen is to use two catalogs, one for business and one for personal, and then prevent access to the personal catalog via putting it on a disk or location that your team member does not have access to.
I am assuming that my images still stay on my external drive...how am I or her able to view these images if I am out of town on another computer?
Situations like this require you to put the catalog file AND photos on the external HD and then move the external drive to whatever location and whatever computer is needed. An alternative is to put the photos on a network drive and the catalog file on a local disk and access the catalog locally and the photos via network, but that limits you to using a single computer.
I am looking at LR Creative Cloud to allow a Team Member access my catalog so she can keyword search which images will work for our social media campaigns.
As far as I know, this does not require Creative Cloud, nor does Creative Cloud help in this situation. Furthermore, if you are thinking about a situation where you and your team member have simultaneous access to the catalog(s) of interest, this is not possible in Lightroom. Lightroom is a single user application.
If you are interested in a true multi-use application, where more than one individual can access a catalog at the same time, you might want to look at Daminion. Note: I am not endorsing or recommending Daminion, as I have never used it; I simply point out the that it has the feature being discussed.

  • CS3 Bridge keyword search failure

To the best of my knowledge this particular issue has not been covered in the dozens of prior posts about keywords.  I apologize if I've missed it.
My photos, by the nature of their creation and paperwork generation, are organized by overall dividers, year, month, partial alphabetic breakdown, and customer name, respectively.  I have a need to be able to find photos across all folders throughout the hierarchy that are of the same person.  I've been using keywords of the individuals' names to accomplish this and it has been tremendously effective.
In 2009, it became necessary to move all images archived in 2008 to another location on the server.  As one might expect, the keywords didn't jive with the index (my reasoning, anyway) and search functionality was ineffective.  Not long thereafter, the functionality came back - most likely by way of a non-indexed keyword search.
The same issue has occured this year in that all the images shot in 2009 had to be moved.  I have changed the manner in which the structure is built to prevent this from being necessary again in the future, but the keyword search is now not functioning again.  However, this time I am unable to re-establish it.  I have tried multiple non-indexed (with subdirectory) keyword searches both across the entire server and in smaller folder breakdowns.  I have cleared the cache and searched again.  Even if I open a folder with brand new files and verify keyword presence and accuracy, a search inside that specific folder will not return a result.
The question is: What have I done / missed?
Even if it had nothing to do with moving the 2009 files, I may have done something to knock something askew that's impeding my search abilities.  I don't use Bridge for very complex tasks, so I might need some extra help, but I'm keenly interested in your ideas and expertise.  Assistance in any form will be appreciated.

Im geting the same... I tried refreshing cache etc... but no avail...

  • LR keyword search (coming from PSE Organizer 9)

I am using LR 4.1 RC2.  This morning using LR I upgraded my PSE Organizer 9 catalog.  It has about 50k photos with keywords and star ratings.  It seems like the upgrade worked because I can now see all my photos in LR and they have the keywords and star ratings.  Hurray!  I am having some trouble  figuring out how to do keyword searches in LR though so I hope someone can help.
In Organizer there are several ways to do keyword searchs:
    1.  Use the Keyword Tags panel and click on one or multiple keywords.  Organizer will then display only the photos that have all of the keywords, i.e., it uses AND.  This is very easy and is great for finding things very quickly when using one or more keywords.
    2.  Use Find > By Details (Metadata) which allows searching by multiple keywords and the choice of AND or OR.  You can also combine the keyword search with other metadata so that, for example, you can find all Bird photos taken in Florida using a Canon 7D + 100-400mm at ISO 400 in April 2011 that have 3 or more stars.  I use this option to search fairly often.
    3.  Use the Search bar and type in search expressions using NOT, AND, and OR.  I occasionally use this for complicated searches that #2 can't handle.  This is a pain in the butt to use since you must type everything out, but when #1 or #2 can't do it (which is rare) it is great to have this option too.
Several months ago I read on the PSE forum a thread about using Organizer and an Adobe developer recommended upgrading to LR since it was more flexible and meant for professionals and serious amateurs.  Therefore even though I have read the LR help info and can't find how to do sophisticated searches I am sure it is possible and I just haven't found it yet.  Here is what I have found so far:
    1.  Use the Keyword List panel where I can select only one keyword.
    2.  Use the Library Filter bar where I can do a ctrl-click on multiple keywords, but this results in an OR instead of AND.  In other words, if I click on Birds and then ctrl-click on Florida I get all bird photos and all Florida photos (the union, not the intersection).  This is probably almost never what a person wants.
I hope someone can tell me or point me to documentation so that I can at least do as much as the amateur Organizer can do.  Thank you!

John, thanks for the reply.  Yes, I am discovering that the amateur Organizer has much better searching capability than the professional Lightroom. I have already mentioned in my post the flexibility and power and Organizer is not even as good as some other programs.  I had spent time investigating LR, but mostly raw conversion and non-destructive editing.  I had, I think naturally, assumed that LR's database functions would be at least as good as the cheap Organizer.  I never dreamt that they would not be as good or as easy to use.  I sometimes wonder what happens in corporations when they seem to forget their own past and come out with new stuff that is a step or two backwards compared to their older, lower end stuff.  Oh well.
Thank you very much for the tip about having more than one instance of keywords in the filter bar.  That helps.
After I posted I discovered using Smart Collections and that helps a bit too.  It is sort of a cutdown, less user friendly version of the Find By Details (Metadata) function in Organizer.  It also means that for just a one time search I would have to create a smart collection and then delete it.  What's with that, I wonder?  Of course, if you often want to do that same search then it is good (Organizer allows you to save the search too), but most of the time I just do it one time.  Oh well.
I looked at the Any Tag plugin and also the Any Filter plugin (same website) and I might download them to try out.
What I would like for Adobe to do is have their LR developers (probably a more prestigious development team in the company) talk to their Organizer developers (maybe a less prestigious development team) so that the LR developers can learn a bit about this.  Yes, I have been a software developer for many years so I do understand a bit about development organizations.  LR and PS are standard bearing products so their teams probably are held in higher esteem.  Time to be humble and talk to other people though, IMO.
If any LR developers happen to read this then please know that I mean no offense.  But, please, at least, take a look at Organizer and see if you can come up with something simpler that requires less typing of multiple long keywords and more powerful searching using various types of metadata.  I am not saying Organizer is the best out there, but it is much better than LR in this case.

  • Best Method For Keyword Search (Full Text Search)

I have some cataloged columns I am searching for Keywords.
This table is getting huge over 6.7 million records and it is
becoming slow. What is the best method to optimize the DB for this
    Search.
Do I need to create a column that
will have a keyword associated to a description of each record
or.... and search this particular column for the Records?. My
clients records at time are store like "Bolt, Flange" and some are
stored as "Bolt, Flange 1/4inch....." . Any one with any idea of
the best methodology of getting this Keyword Search Optimized and
    returning faster query results?
    Thanks

Consider creating a Verity collection on the appropriate
columns in your database. The frequency of database update will
help in determining if this is the appropriate thing to do.

  • Keyword searching

I would like to offer my users the ability to perform a "keyword" search which would allow the user to search about 90% of the fields in the xml file. What is the best way to do something like this. I currently have each field in my query seperated by an "or". I also have each of the fields indexed, but it seems to be going very slow. Is their any other way of building a query to do something like this?

    for $record in collection("Catalog.dbxml") /*[
    T245[contains(.,"database") or contains(.,"Database")] or
    T246[contains(.,"database") or contains(.,"Database")] or
    T100[contains(.,"Database")] or T700[contains(.,"Database")] or T600[contains(.,"database") or contains(.,"Database") or contains(.,"DATABASE")] or
    T610[contains(.,"database") or contains(.,"Database") or contains(.,"DATABASE")] or
    T630[contains(.,"database") or contains(.,"Database") or contains(.,"DATABASE")] or
    T650[contains(.,"database") or contains(.,"Database") or contains(.,"DATABASE")] or
    T651[contains(.,"database") or contains(.,"Database") or contains(.,"DATABASE")] or
    T655[contains(.,"database") or contains(.,"Database") or contains(.,"DATABASE")] or
    T050[contains(.,"DATABASE")] or
    T090[contains(.,"DATABASE")]
    return $record
This query takes about 15 seconds. The problem is, it is only searching for 1 word, if I do a search for 2 or 3 words, the search doubles
    Here is an example:
    for $record in collection("Catalog.dbxml") /*[
    T245[contains(.,"database") or contains(.,"Database")] or
    T246[contains(.,"database") or contains(.,"Database")] or

  • Keyword Seach on Qualification Catalog

We recently implemented LSO and a concern has been raised regarding the skills that they have added to the skills catalog. These new skills should only be assigned once an employee undergoes a specific training (should never be selectable by the
employees). On our ESS and ERC, employees are able to update their qualifications. When using the skills catalog this is restricted in ERC (due to the configuration). However when using the keyword search it pulls up all the skills defined in the catalog.
A suggestion was made that we hide the key word search from the qualification screen (please see attached pdf). I was informed that this is a JAVA webdynpro and that it could not be done.
    My question is:
    1. Is there any other way to limit the keyword search?
    2. Can we hide the key word search option on the qualification screen?

Yes, we were able to load using standard FMs...

  • Keyword Search with the search field

    Hi everyone,
I have a question regarding search by keywords: when I type in more than one keyword in the search field I do not get any results, no matter if I separate those with a comma or just a space. Isn't this supposed to work? Or do I have to use the search HUD for keyword search? When I am searching my entire library there are a LOT of keywords. I always thought I could use the searchbar just like Spotlight, typing several words and getting results in real-time. It works like this in iPhoto, so why not in Aperture?
    Regards,

    Really?
You mean you can't just click on the Magnifying Glass in the Search Box like I can?
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
    And then Select Rating?
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
And then click on the Third Dot and it will become a Star?
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
Or even use a Smart Album? File -> new Smart Album: My Rating -> is -> And there's click on the third dot to make it a star trick again?

  • Keyword search is not functioning at SAP MDM catalgue

    Hi
W e are facing issue in keyword search at SAP MDM catalog.
Normally we used to search by the description of catalog items like key pad, LCD, charger e.t.c, and system display list of material available at catalog with vendor and price details.
Now we are facing issue that as soon as we provide the description and click on search there is no result at all
But if we click reset search all the available catalog items are getting displayed.
The issue is if provide one particular item and click on search we are not getting list even though the catalog item has been maintained and available at MDM.
Kindly through some light on this issue to explore and get suitable solution.
    With thanks and regards
    Vijayakumar .G

    Hi,
If you want to perform keyword search  then first you have to check if description field as you mentioned in MDM is Set to property Keyword  = Stemmer.
and if it is keyword enabled then try with asterik operator e.g. *LCD and see if you are getting the result.
For more info please follow the thread below:

  • Keyword search limitation, problem, or error on my side?

    Hello,
I've done some searching and I don't think I've seen the answer to my question, but it could be basic lack of understanding.
    I'm trying to take advantage of keywording. Using LR 1.2 on a Vista Ultimate PC. Here is my basic flow...right or wrong;
    (1) I import images from CF using the import dialog. Assign folder locations, names(if I need to change), etc.
    (2) I assign basic keywords to the entire set as it's being imported
-- Typical target for storage is a network attached shared drive.
    (3) On first pass scan of images, I'll flag rejects and add additional keywords to the images. For baseball photos I am adding a players name "lasname", "first"
    (4) complete my basic edits, choose my selects and export to JPG for delivery
What I then want to do is be able to go to the "keyword tags" section, select a players names and have easy access to their images.
    What's happening is almost working;
I see a count for the number of images containing the desired keyword. I see a thumbnail displayed for the group in the navigator window.
but I also get an error message in the main window stating "no photos match the filter".
I've tried to ensure that no other filters are selected. I have tried selecting "all photographs" under the library tag too. I have dones the "ctrl-S" to save sidecar files.
For a few of the iamges, the search does seem to work. These are on local drives. Is my problem that this won't work with a network attached drive?
I'd appreciate any suggestions. I know this must be something simple, but I really need it to work.
    Mike

But with LR you can also write, for example, " Priscilla ["Prissy" "Da Bear"] Littlebear" and be able to search on the given name, surname and/or nicknames, plus each of the names is in order and properly capitalized.
I tried putting a comma inside the brackets, but it also breaks up the name into two parts. Also, I probably wouldn't use quotation marks at all, but wanted to see if they'd break anything.
Thanks for the dialog; it made me learn a bit more about the naming flexibility here!

  • Can you make a Keyword Collection for entire event library?

    Hello all,
So you make an event, and you can make Keyword Collections for that particular event, such as "WS" or "Person 1" or "Indoors"... But...
What if those keywords apply to other events?
I am making video content for a particular company. I shoot stuff one day import as an event. The only content that I produce is for this company, so you can imagine there are going to be similar themes across mutable events...

So can you make a Keyword Collection for entire event library?
Can some one please explain if is this is possible? If not please update!

    Andy,
Yes you can but that feature only works if you are searching a single event (Pretty Cool/Useful), Creating a smart collection based on what you tick off in the dialogue box... You will get an error message if Searching the drive itself:
    LOL
    I did some playing around...
    I created a new event
Then I ran a search, with Keywords ticked off, Ticking off mutable Keyword Collections.
Then dragged the results into my new event.
This in effect created "saved search results" but Final Cut started copying clips to that event folder that was created on my external HD. I was hoping that It would generate alias files...
    I also...
    Created a new project
    Ran the Search with Keywords
Dragged all clips into the project..
This also in effect created  "saved search results" but not really what I was hoping :/
