Keyword.url gets changed to slirsredirect

Some process is changing keyword.url in about:config to the following URL....
http://slirsredirect.search.aol.com/slirs_http/sredir?sredir=2685&invocationType=tb50ffwinampab&query=
I've tried uninstalling WinAmp, but the issue is not resolved.
I can browse the internet fine - problem is I want to customize keyword.URL with a different URL. Every time i quit firefox and restart it, the slirsredirect URL reappears in keyword.url .
please assist.
thanks,
Harry

To revert to Google as your preferred search engine, please do the following.<br><br>
* In the location bar, type '''about:config''' and hit Enter.<br><br>
* In the filter at the top, type: '''keyword.URL'''<br><br>
* Double click it and remove whatever's in there and replace it with http://www.google.com/search?q=<br><br>
The URL to add in "keyword.URL" becomes a link in this post, so right click it and choose "Copy Link Location" to copy it to the Windows clipboard. Then hit CTRL+V to paste it. Saves you having to type the whole thing.
'''To reset your home page, do the following'''.<br><br>
* Go to the site you want to set as your homepage.<br><br>
* Click the orange Firefox button and go to '''Options '''| '''Options '''| '''General''' <br><br>
* Make sure it says "''Show My Homepage''" in the first dropdown menu.<br><br>
* Click the button called "'''Use Current Pages'''" to set the homepage to the one you have on the screen.<br><br>
After you complete the above steps, install this add-on to prevent another search engine from modifying your preferences: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/browserprotect/

    I made a custom newsletter email in which all my images are absolute URLS. I use Thunderbird to send it out through my imapped google email account. Once I send it the URLs get changed and for some reason brings my tracking URL into the image URL as well from the bottom of the page.

    Disconnect any ethernet wires or disable from wireless connections.
    After that try to configure the port numbers and settings .
    Now that wont get changed.
    Hoping this would solve your problem.

  • I changed the "keyword url" setting in about:config to allow it to be used as a google search box, but when I exit and restart firefox it reverts to its previous setting.

    chrome://browser-region/locale/region.properties
    This is the URL that is in "keyword:URL" in about:config in my Firefox 4. I attempted to change it to http://www.google.ie/search?q= so as to use the address bar as a search bar. • I've edited the Keyword URL so it shouldn't be Google doing autocomplete in the Location Bar but it still is. How do I stop Google dominating my searches?

    At first when I made the change it did go to the alternative search engine that I had under Keyword URL & it is still set as that (I've checked) yet when I type in website such as wikipedia & hit return its found & brought to me by Google. Note this is a location bar not search box issue.

  • Parameter of Source-portion of url gets lost

    Hi Expert,
    following Situation:
    Default List-View-WebPart from a custom List added to a Enterprise-Wiki-Page.
    First column in the List-View is the edit button to open the related edit-Form.
    Because of a custom Edit-Form which is not set as the default for edit i have to relink to my specific Form.
    I have done this by this script which is included by Script-Editor-WebPart:
    var tags = $('a[onclick*="84858E12"]');
    if(tags)
    tags.each(function ()
    var att = $(this).attr('onclick');
    if(att)
    if(att.match(/ID=([0-9]*)/))
    var id = $(this).attr('onclick').match(/ID=([0-9]*)/)[1];
    var bo = $(this).closest('td').next('td').find('a').text();
    if(bo)
    $(this).removeAttr('onclick');
    $(this).attr('href', '/Lists/Leads/LeadEdit.aspx?ID=' + id + "&BO=" + encodeURIComponent(bo));
    $(this).attr('onclick', 'GoToLink(this);return false;');
    If i click a edit button to open my edit form everything works fine and the URL has correct values. The source Portion works fine if i close the edit form (save or cancel). So far so good.
    In last mentioned edit form i have another List-View-WebPart (Added through SharePoint-Designer) which holds data of a related list. Filter is working fine here. For this List-View i also have to relink the edit button to another specific edit form. I have
    done this in the same way as i did it before. The important part of the script:
    $(this).click(function(e)
    e.preventDefault();
    var currentid = $(this).attr('href').match(/ID=([0-9]*)/)[1];
    var encbo = encodeURIComponent(getBO());
    $s = "/Lists/Com2Know/Edit.aspx?ID=" + currentid + "&BO=" + encbo+ "&Source=" + source + "&BO=" + encbo;
    location.href = $s;
    This also works fine. Source Portion is shown and correct. If i copy the source Portion and paste it to a new browser tab it is working fine. But if i Close this edit form (save or cancel) a Parameter of the source portion of the URL gets lost somehow and
    now i'm not there where i wanted to be. The URL is as follows (changed hostheader to ...)
    http://.../Lists/Com2Know/Edit.aspx?ID=86&BO=LE%2F2014%2F2000084&Source=http://.../Lists/Leads/LeadEdit.aspx?ID=84&BO=LE%2F2014%2F2000084
    So i should go to http://.../Lists/Leads/LeadEdit.aspx?ID=84&BO=LE%2F2014%2F2000084
    but i end up here: http://.../Lists/Leads/LeadEdit.aspx?ID=84
    So my Parameter BO is missing.
    Do i miss something from specification?
    With Kind regards,
    Ronny

    Sorry Folks, i got it myself and i hope it is useful for somebody else.
    Just mask the ampersand for Parameters in source Portion with %26
    So in my case: source + "%26BO="
    Kredits to Marc D Anderson. Thanx!
    Ronny

  • Incorrect url getting generated for content server download

    Hi,
    In the MIC(Management for Internal Controls) system, the standard functionality of downloading attachments after they have been uploaded into content server (FOPC_DB) is not working. When this download link is clicked, it opens another webpage and its URL is pointing to wrong  port number.
    Detailed analysis:
    On further analysis, we arrived at the following observations:
    The URL for Start page of MIC is as follows:
    http://hostname.com:8050/sap/bc/bsp/sap/fopc_start/start.htm?s
    Whereas the incorrect url getting generated during down load is
    http://hostname.com:8097/...........
    The sap webdispatcher is running on the system using port 8050. Whereas the ICM engine is running on port 8097. The download url picks up the port number of default ICM which the sap webdispacher does not allow to display.
    We require help in changing the port number so that correct url gets generated. This url should carry the port number of  sap webdispatcher.
    Thanks for the help.

  • Keyword.URL settings not saving

    The keyword.URL setting in about config resets itself upon firefox 4.10b restart. It goes to a file in a chrome url.

    chrome://browser-region/locale/region.properties is the default for complex prefs that are installation depended. You shouldn't see such values on the about:config page, but see the locale setting of the pref instead. The pref keyword.URL is an empty string in current Firefox 4 releases.
    Are you using the default theme (Tools > Add-ons > Themes)?<br />
    Which Firefox locale do you have installed?
    Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

  • Where does WebDynpro ABAP URL get defaulted

    When creating a WebDynpro ABAP application, the URL gets generated automatically.
    My question is where does this path get generated from.  Is there a place to edit the settings?
    The reason why I ask is that the Basis team has disabled protocol HTTP and are now using HTTPS.
    The problem is, our WebDynpro ABAP applications still get defaulted to HTTP in the URL string.
    Where do you change the settings?

    Yes, I replied to your question before realizing the answer had been given by Shruti.  By going to tcode SMICM, in GOTO/services menu, I noticed that HTTP and HTTPS were both set to active.  So, I inactivated the HTTP and by doing that the WebDynpro ABAP application URL's that get defaulted (tab folder adminstrative data) now default to HTTPS and the port defined in SMICM.
    The Basis team had disabled HTTP, I assuming by removing the port address, but keeping the HTTP service active and this was causing a problem for all the WebDynpro ABAP programs.  They were still defaulting to HTTP.  Why they did not make this change I just did, I don't know.
    I couldn't get anyone to take charge of this, so I did.
    Problem solved.

  • Keyword.url set to google, being hijacked by Yahoo anyway

    I have checked repeatedly that my keyword search is set to the Google string, but it STILL diverts me to a Yahoo search if I type into the address bar. I hate Yahoo and its entire slow, ugly, buggy garbage of an empire, how can I make it go away?
    Also, GetBetterLinks is trash adware, please stop putting crap I have to delete on my computer, mmk?

    I set the keyword.URL preference to the Google Search-by-Name URL, changed to the default theme, and then restarted in Safe Mode with add-ons disabled. When I then checked keyword.URL, it had changed back to the "chrome:" setting.
    I set keyword.URL again and then disabled all plug-ins, exited Firefox normally, and restarted in Normal Mode. Again, keyword.URL had reverted to the "chrome:" setting.
    I then reset keyword.URL, left all the plug-ins disabled, and restarted in Safe Mode. Once again, keyword.URL had reverted to the "chrome:" setting.
    Sorry to be so clueless, cor-el, but I'm afraid I don't know what a locale is. I tried to read your link to mozillaZine, but it kept timing out after 30 seconds. Is that because of too much volume? So are you saying that my current locale is supposed to reset the keyword.URL preference from the "chrome:" setting to some valid value, but that isn't happening? What else could cause this besides a bad extension, theme, or plug-in?

    http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=sd&saddr=9825Topanga+Canyon+Blvd,+Chatsworth,+CA+91311&daddr=Owensmouth+Ave+to:9451+corbin+av e+to:34.250264,-118.583765+to:Plummer+St+to:Variel+Ave+to:DevonshireSt&hl=en&geocode=Fe-ZCgIdVTXu-CnpxqLmxpzCgDHDDutQPA47UQ%3BFXq1CgIdMEju-A%3BFfB9C gIdlN3u-CmXlkTrcZvCgDER1wGVO-6aVg%3B%3BFaCACgIdU2u-A%3BFQCOCgIdb2ru-A%3BFU65CgIdbkju-A&mra=dpe&mrcr=1&mrsp=3&sz=14&via=1,3,5&sll= 34.251612,-118.583765&sspn=0.056331,0.079479&ie=UTF8&t=h&z=14
    Some of the percent signs (%) get changed to %25 or whatever the proper HTML escape code is.
    The funny thing is, these URLs are still valid Google Maps addresses, but now show different routes, generally in the same neighborhood!
    Does anyone know how to force Numbers to accept a URL as is without modifying it?

    As I explained yesterdays in an other thread, the problem is that you don't use Numbers correctly.
    Inserting an URL as is in a cell is a wrongdoer.
    The correct soluce is the use of the dedicated function : HYPERLINK()
    =HYPERLINK("http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=sd&saddr=9825Topanga+Canyon+Blvd.+Chatsworth.+CA+91311&daddr=Owensmouth+Ave+to:9451+corbin+av e+to:34.250264.-118.583765+to:Plummer+St+to:Variel+Ave+to:DevonshireSt&hl=en&geocode=Fe-ZCgIdVTXu-CnpxqLmxpzCgDHDDutQPA47UQ%3BFXq1CgIdMEju-A%3BFfB9C gIdlN3u-CmXlkTrcZvCgDER1wGVO-6aVg%3B%3BFaCACgIdU2_u-A%3BFQCOCgIdb2ru-A%3BFU65CgI dbkju-A&mra=dpe&mrcr=1&mrsp=3&sz=14&via=1.3.5&sll=34.251612.-118.583765&sspn=0.0 56331.0.079479&ie=UTF8&t=h&z=14","googlemap")
    With this formula all behave flawlessly.
