Keywords don't autocomplete in 2.1?

I just upgraded from lightroom 1.5 to 2.1 and noticed that keywords no longer autocomplete as I type them in. I have read that a lot of users didn't like this feature but it worked great for me and saved me tons of time. Is there a way to enable it in 2.1 or is it just a lost feature?

>I'm guessing...
You would be guessing wrong.
The pop-up menu labelled Keyword Tags has 3 options: Enter Keywords, Will Export, Keywords & Containing Keywords (see attachment). Only the first allows you to directly enter/delete keywords. Unfortunately, it only shows directly assigned keywords. To see both assigned and implied keywords you need to choose one of the other two options. When either of these is selected there is no way to directly enter/delete keywords within the larger box. The text enter box labelled "Click here to enter keywords" can be used to enter new keywords irrespective of which option you chose in the Keyword Tags pop-up menu.
Hope this helps explain the logic.

Hi! Why is the version file smaller than the original file, although I didn't make changes in the file? And why is the keywords don't exporting with original files?

Wild guess: you're using the the wrong export settings. You'll need to tell us more before we can help you - like the export settings you're usng, the size and format of the originals etc.

  • Tags don't autocomplete in Wiki Server

Since the upgrade from 10.7 Server, previously-used tags don't autocomplete when added to a wiki page. There's nothing informative in the logs. Otherwise the server seems to be working. Before filing a bug report, I'd like to know whether anyone can confirm.

There is completion, but it only seems to work when you click the "Allow user to administer this server" checkbox in the Users section of the Server app. Must be a permissions issue.

  • Network sharing - keywords don;t work

    Hi,
Has anyone found a way to get keywords working on the client machine for network-shared albums?
    Cheers,
    b.

    Hi buckster,
    Nope, keywords don't work either.
Basically, the sharing is just to view. If you want to work with anything from the sharing computer, you have to drag the images to your library in the source column.

  • Keyword delays and autocomplete competition

I am seeing two regular problems with keywording:
    1) When I commit to my keywords by hitting Return or Tab, it sometimes accepts them immediately, but much more frequently freezes up giving me the beachball of death for an extended period of time. In the most recent case, it took 47 seconds to save the new keywords added to an already-keyworded image. I'd added about 10-15 more to an image that already had a similar number. I've tried new images with no keywords, images with existing keywords, and can't find what predicts when this happens, but it happens most of the time. iMac G5 1.8GHz with 1Gb RAM so not high spec, but this isn't where the program should be slow.
    2) When typing keywords, Lightroom helpfully tries to autocomplete for you. However, there are two unexpected things to this behaviour. I am a fast and accurate touch typist (c 100 words/minute) and it seems something in the autocomplete algorithm is loosing my keystrokes. I frequently notice that when it is trying to suggest autocomplete words it either looses a letter from the keyword I am trying to type, or much more frequently transposes two of my letters. This does not happen when I am tying anywhere else so I am convinced it is not my typing. Also, I'm pretty sure the usual behaviour with autocomplete on the Mac (e.g. in Microsoft Word) is that if an autocomplete suggestion comes up you can hit Return to accept it... in Lightroom, if you do this, it thinks you're wanting to finalise your keywords... which even worse, then activates Problem #1 most of the time. You shouldn't have to move over to the arrow keys to accept an autocomplete suggestion: while it is autocompleting, can we please have it accept Return as a confirmation?

    Hi Duncan,
With regards to problem 1, please see my thread here :
    http://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx/.3bc33210/11
All I can say is "hoorah"; there's finally someone else with enough keywords to have hit on the problem. I think that we'll see more and more people hit on this problem as LR gets used more intensively. It's frustrating since I tried very hard to bring the problem to the attention of the engineers during the beta, but I don't think that there were enough people experiencing it for it to be noticed. It sould seem that most people are intensive keyworders.
The behaviour is very simple - adding a new keyword is very, very slow when you already have lots of them. I have over 1000 keywords so far, and adding a new one takes 10 to 15 seconds.
When the keyword that you're adding to an image already exists in the database, the delay doesn't occur.
I'm desperate for this issue to be fixed.

  • LIghtroom and Bridge Keywords don't match

I use PhotoMechanic (with the stationary pad setup) to ingest NEF images, then convert them DNG with DNG Converter. I add keywords using PhotoMechanic, Bridge and Expression media and Edit using PS to create web versions.
I'm trying to use LR 1.3 and starting to import them all.
When I look at the keywords in LR 1.3 the DNG are all the same, however the JPG in LR 1.3 are different from the other three (PhotoMechanic, Bridge, Expression Media). I've read metadata from the files in LR 1.3 and there is no change to the jpg.
It looks like LR 1.3 does not extract metadata from JPG the same way as Bridge does.
    Any ideas why?

There are a lot of profiles for Raw-images but much less for JPG images.
Lr will display only those lens profiles that apply for the file format in question. So when you have a JPG image the profiles for Raw images will not be displayed in Lr, and vice versa.
If you don't have the correct lens profile in you list you have to download it.
For this you need the Adobe Lens Profile Downloader.
And for this program you need Adobe Air.
Download both programs from Adobe's website - they are free of charge.
Then install Adobe Air first, and when that is installed, install the Lens Profile Downloader.
Once it is installed just open it, it is self-explanatory and will display all available lens profiles once you have selected your camera and lens makes.

  • Please help - keywords don't always change with image ?

Hi, I have tried to search for this but not found it. ( I am not sure which words to search on and the ones I have tried haven't shown it ) I am being driven mad and probably doing something stupid to cause it. Sometimes I can get into a state where the keywords on the right of the library screen in the keyword tags box, do not change when the image changes. I cannot work out why and neither can I find any pattern. I know the correct keywords are there because I can see them in bridge and also if I close lightroom and reopen, it shows them. If it makes any difference I have preferences set to automatically write changes into xmp. I am using windows xp. The filename in the metadata box below does change and follows the image, yet I do not even see keywords from the correct folder. I have no filters set.
Please does anyone have any ideas.
    thanks,
    Richard

I don't know whether this is the same bug or not (though it surely is a bug). Every once in a while, the image in the navigation window will not be the same as the image in the loupe view. It's very strange. You can still navigate around the zoomed image with the navigation box, but the box is overlayed on a different image from the one you're looking at. When this has happened, I've tried to fix it by switching images, but that never works.... the same image stays in the navigation window. I have found that the only fix is to restart LR. Perhaps this is related in the sense that maybe there's some kind of pointer problem in which different parts of the program are pointing to different images.

  • Using more than one keyword don't not work to filter pictures.

    hi,
i am new to aperture and currently try to filter images with keywords. i have for instance a picture of a dog in my china projects. the keywords attached to the dog picture are: "Animals, Dogs, China, Xian. all keywords capitalized and separated by a comma. if i type Dogs or animals, or any of the keyword attached to it individually its works. i will get the picture. but if i enter two keywords, i.e., Animals, Dogs, I don't get any return. nothing.
of course, i can open the keyword field, and check Animals and Dogs and it will bring the pictures. But does someone know why typing several keywords (same capitalization, spelling, etc) attached to a picture does not bring result in finding the picture.
    thanks for your help

There should be a button to the left of the search box which will open a window of search options. One of the options is Keywords and it allows you to check the keywords you would like to search for. You can have it include images which have all the selected keywords or any of the selected keywords. Here is an image of that box:

    Hope that helps!

  • All Keywords don't show up in Photoshop List?

In Bridge I import a text file that has all my keywords to a Master Folder where all the other subfolders have pictures files. In PS-CS6.0 when I want to add key words in file info I type the first letter and the keywords with that letter show up in a list and then I choose the correct word.  However some letters don't produce a list or only produce a partial list. If the keyword doesn't show up I have to go to my text file and copy the keyword and paste it into the file info.
    why?

Before i start, let me just say that I never post replies in forums...but this one just vexes me beyond belief.
I have been a mac user since my first year of Graphic design, way back in 1995.  I have a first gen ipad, I also have an older imac (2006) with Tiger installed for an os which i owned before the iPad.  Now, when I first got the ipad, and plugged it into my mac, i had no problems with it.  It showed up, i could transfer, sync, back up, whatever i had to do.  Since then, and for a while now, i cannot.... i dunno if it was because of software updates, or whatever, but now, iTunes doesn't read my ipad....***?  It used to?  Why all of a sudden does it not work anymore?....Ohhh wait, now i know....I have to upgrade to iTunes to at least 10.1.whatever.......and to do that, i have to upgrade my os to at least snow leopard.  But, i cannot upgrade to snow leopard, because for all intents and purposes,  it doesn't exist anymore.
So now, when anyone posts problems with their iOS devices, your response should be "plug it into a PC"....because it works.

  • Keywords don't import

OK - I have updated to iPhoto '08 - but I don't have any keywords showing up from my old library on the photos, and the keyword list from the old iPhoto is not there. When I import, the data file cannot be copied, obviously because they are not photo files. How do I get my huge 5 year photo library that is already on iPhoto 08 to have the keywords with them?

OK - I have done what you told me - exported the new to the desktop folders. Chose the old library when I started iPhoto. Said, after examining the library for a few moments that it was going to have to be updated. No other iPhoto would be able to read this after, and update may take several minutes depending on size of the library...... OK so I clicked update. Few moments later it said there was approximately 3 hours left, then 2 then 1 then it has gotten hung up and froze twice since then. Once at 54 minutes left and once at 55 minutes left if that has any bearing on the problem at all. This is what I ran into the first time around, so I tried importing them and all worked but the keywords. Any thoughts on this problem?
They are on my hard drive, not on an external drive, FYI. ANd I probably should have said 'hangs' and not crashes. It just sits there endlessly with 54/55 minutes left with the beach ball spinning around. When I open the force quit - it says that iPhoto is not responding.

  • Keywords don't work right anymore

I just got Aperature and was adding keywords to photos by dragging them from the Keyword Tag dropdown menu to the selected photos. It was working fine, I added several for Emily then the Emily keyword deleted from the list and I don't know where that listing on the menu went to or how to get it back. The tag Emily is still attached to some 1500 photos. When I do a search by Keyword, Emily is still on the list but it doesn't find any of these photos. Other searches by other keywords works fine. Any ideas how I can reactivate the Emily keyword w/o going through 16,000 photos and finding the 1500 Emily photos to re tag them? Thanks

Do you still see the keyword "Emily", when you type it into the search field in the Keywords HUD?
You may accidentally have dragged it to a different category.

  • Keywords don't get added in iMovie 09

I have some events in my iMovie where I can't add keywords to video.
I select the keyword tool, use the auto add feature (the cursor turns into a small key as usual) and when I drag the cursor over the video section, the keyword flies over it (as usual), but the keyword line doesn't appear on top of this video, and the keyword panel doesn't show that this portion has any keywords. Also the keyword filter doesn't find anything.
Yet, I do have some events where keywords work. The video is from the same camera, and events are created in the same manner.
I thought it could be an issue of Optimized video (AIC) vs Non-optimized video (Original MP4), but I converted the video segment to Optimized, and still keywords can't be added. The procedure works fine, as usual, but at the end, the keywords simply don't get added.
I can do all the other stuff with these problematic videos, just not add keywords.
I couldn't find anything related to keywords on the internet, so this forum is my last chance.

Found the answer to my problem.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1372
Seems that Apple has been reading the Microsoft playbook and by providing a free "upgrade" to iMovie 09 from 08 has now removed the ability to import MPEG2 files directly...where previously you could.
I can now pay to upgrade to '11 which claims to support MPEG2 on this camera. Has anyone else been down this road and paid to fix what Apple broke for free? Cost isn't the issue, just hoping to avoid the hassle of the upgrade to discover it won't work
    Thanks

  • Keywords don't works...

    Hello!
I have started to put keywords in my library. I have made my preset and I usually add keywords from keywords bar.
I have a big problem when I search with Query HUD: some keywords when selected/checked in the query hud doesn't show the photos! If I control the photo I see there is the keywords. For example: I have 50 photos of live concert, 30 of them is keyword "Bass" and all 50 is keyword "Live". If I do a search with "Live, Bass" doesn't appear any photo! Only with "Bass" I see some photos but not all!
I re-make library (CMD+ALT when starting Aperture) but without results.
    What can I do?

No, I add the keywords by keywords tab (clicking on
keyword when photo is selected or typing it manually,
one word at time!). Before this I only add some
"general" keywords for all the project from the batch
change (CMDSHIFTB) typing it separate like this
    "bass, music, live".
After some expirimentation I see what is happening now - the problem is when you use the search field to type search terms and use commas to separate words, you are not really searching for many different words. You are instead searching for the exact string you are typing... it just happens that in some cases the string you are searching for matches part of the IPTC "Keywords" string. You can look in the IPTC data and see that all of the keywords you entered are stored comma sepereated in the "keywords" value.
If you want to search for multiple keywords you have to either use the keywords checkboxes in the query HUD, or add multiple IPTC searches - one per keyword. I know it's faster to just type but I think you'll have to go with the query HUD approach for complex sets of keywords if you want reliable results.

  • IPhoto keyword don't seem to be working

I've got some photos in iPhoto from vacations. They've got keywords of where they're from. If I type in "Myrtle" in spotlight, I get all of the pics from our trip to Myrtle Beach.
I recently took a trip to Cunningham falls State Park in Maryland. I imported all of the pics into iPhoto and keyworded them. But if I go to spotlight, and type in "Cunningham" none of the pics come up. I checked the spelling. I waited a few days wondering if it takes time for the computer to realize it needs to index these. I tried a couple of other keywords for some other recently entered photos and no dice.
This isn't a major issue, but still it should work! I can't say for sure if this started specifically when I updated to iLife 6 or not, because I can't remember precisely when I did that.
Anyway, is anyone else having this issue and does anyone have any suggestions on what may be causing it / how to fix it?
    Thanks,
    Dan P.

Yes, a fair number of people have had the problem, but they all seem to hang out in the iPhoto forum!
Take a look at this discussion there:

  • Google search window don't autocomplete in F4.01

I use laptop with Window 7, Home edition.
After updating FF to F4.01 version Google window on Google bar stopped to auto-complete. That is it is displaying suggestions as usual but when clicked upon appropriate line of dropped down list, that line is not extended and i must type the whole question manually. I found tons of the same problem on the web with some workaround suggestions that are too shaky to implement. Some users attribute it to this last version of FF.
Using mozilla for more than 25 years ago when it was still Chicago University students project, I am very much sure that you fix this bag to the greater good of our otherwise sick society. Hail to the FSF and Open Society, the precursor of great days to come!

Firefox should divert the new window to a new tab when you check this box in Google's Search Settings:
"Open search results in a new browser window"
I can't think of any reason for Firefox to divert a new window back into ''the same tab''.
In case one of your add-ons is the culprit, could you try Firefox's Safe Mode?
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Next, restart Firefox using Help>Restart with Add-ons Disabled. Don't check any of the boxes in the [https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode Safe Mode] dialog, just Continue in Safe Mode.
    Does it make any difference?
