Keywords for searching archives

I'm trying to search the extensions forum for anything that
will help me with postage and handling using Web Assist e commerce
suite. I must be using the wrong keywords because I'm not finding
anything.
Any suggestions?
TIA
Sophia

It's difficult getting a response on that forum (I haven't
had any luck), but it doesn't seem like I have much of a choice.
I'll give them another try. Thanks.

  • Keywording for search engines?

    I'm a real novice at tech stuff and am interested in purchasing iWeb for a photography business site. Can I do keywording with this software so that my site will be found by search engines? Is this a professional enough web program for creating a business website? Thanks.

    A lot of photographers use iWeb for their sites.
    Most of them make the mistake of using the iWeb Photos and Albums templates which makes the images unsearchable.
    A lot are drawn to the Darkroom theme which makes for slow downloading pages.
    You'll find out about this on the 4 pages starting here.....
    http://roddymckay.com/PhotoSatellite/iWebPhotoTemplates.html
    Keywords are added into URLs, page titles, page names, captions, text etc and there's nothing magic or technical about this - just time and effort.
    You can add the essential title tags into iWeb or do it post publishing.
    I'm in the process of putting together a short tutorial on SEO which I hope to publish later today.
    Look for it here in a few (or more than a few) hours...

    I think there are two methods to search Archive data, Also requires preconfiguration in CMS.
    1. Online Search: the system searches through the archive files direct.
    2. Background Search Report: the system evaluates the results of a background search previously carried out.

  • Recommendation for storing/archiving AVCHD material

    I'm sure this isn't a new question but after a bit of searching I still wasn't able to find it on this forum.
    I have one of the newish Sony consumer cameras with flash memory. I use Log and Transfer in FCE to import the footage and that's all good. However I have noticed that when I use the Sony software that came with the camera to import the footage (Windows only) the files end up being a lot smaller. Unfortunately I can't use these files with FCE and there are plenty of posts on this forum detailing why not.
    My question is: what is the "best practice" method for storing/archiving AVCHD footage? If I keep the .MOV files that FCE creates then I will be storing 4 or 5 times as much data as the .MTS (and related files) created by the Sony software supplied with the camera. So should I be importing the footage twice - once into FCE and once in Windows - and archiving the smaller (Windows/Sony) files? If I do this then how can I get FCE to recognise them if I ever need the source files again - do I have to transfer them back to the camera or use a third party product to convert them? What do others do?

    I back up the entire original AVCHD folder off the camera onto another hard drive. Store and maintain like an iTunes library of MP3 files. You can rename the top-level AVCHD folder as long as all the subfolders remain intact. Those files are about 1/10th the size of the ingested footage and a lot more manageable. In fact, I never actually log and transfer from the camera itself. Just copy the files to backup immediately, then mount whatever folder applies. I also keep a final uncompressed QuickTime movie of each "finished" project. Eventually, I toss the ingested footage for older projects. This means it would be somewhat difficult to go back and rebuild an older project, but I'm personally more of a "done and next project" person. Others might not be. AVCHD footage takes up no more disk space than than HDV once it's imported. It all gets converted to the much larger Apple Intermediate Codec for editing. Your decision is essentially whether you want to back up tapes or back up electronic files of your original media, and how long you want to keep the bloated AIC media on your drive for continual tweaking down the road. Either way, you'll likely want a couple large hard drives.

  • Alternate Color for Search Results

    Hi Experts,
        I have a scenario, When I search a keyword in TREX Search of Portal, I am getting the result.  Is it possible for me to give background(Alternative) coloring for the ResultList(1,3,5,.. results in one color, and 2,4,6,.. results in another color)?  If so, please guide me, how to achieve this?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Venkatesh. K

    Hi Venkatesh,
    It will surely work out.
    But you must have added a different layout which is not suitable for search result rendering.
    The layout controller should be Simple Layout Controller.
    And then u can have a CollectionListRenderer where u can mention ROW ALTERNATING.

  • Keyword Filtering & Search Via Parent Structure In Aperture Is Ugly - Help

    I'm very frustrated with the keyword assigning and filtering within Aperture.
    I basically have my keywording down, but USING the keywords is a nightmare.   I try and create parent keywords by things like People (fred, john, harry, etc.), vacation (2011 - Cancun, etc.), or Wedding (2011 - Fred & Ginger).
    What I don't understand is how to easily and quickly search after I've created it.   When I pull up the "filter" it lists ALL keywords, alphabetically, but they are not organized into the nested groups that I created - why?   I can't "search" the keywords either.
    The keyword HUD is equally useless to me.   It would be much better if I could easily move photos assigned to one keyword to another - but instead, I find myself needing to search for one keyword, select them all, then assign them to the new one, then delete the old one.   What a PITA.   The keyword HUD would SEEM to be the right place for it as - but all it does is seem to help you sort of organize your keywords.  You can MOVE keywords to a parent keyword, but you can't pull up the images associated with that keyword or move them.
    I've googled arond on this for a while and never found a good answer.
    I used to use a program called Bullstorm Keyword manager with iPhoto that I loved.   Then Apple ruined that, and destroyed iPhoto's way of managing keywords.....   So, I was semi-forced to move over to Aperture which is "ok" - fraught with problems as it doesn't work witih my e-mail programs, slower, etc. etc.   But, I'll take it if it could ONLY handle keyword management better.
    Any ideas?

    Hello Eric,
    Ideally, I want to be able to view my searches at a parent level and then select the children features that are applicable - instead of having to search across all my keywords each time.   E.g. selection Vacation, and then select the vacations that I want to see or see an easy list of all the 'core people" or "all people" that I want to search on.
    You can just do that - at least with Aperture 3.2.2, I never tried it with previous versions.
    Even, if you do not set the parent "vacation" keyword and do not see it displayed, you can search for it, and if any of the keyword "vacation"'s children are set, then a search for "vacation" will return all images with children of "vacation" set.
    If I select "Vacation" under search, it does properly shows ALL my vacation pics.   But how do I easily select three of the keywords under vacation without going through all the keywords to find them?   Same thing with "people"   I'm organizing all my people tagging so I can easily select me, my mother, my wife, etc., but when I go under search, it's an all or nothing situtation.
      It sounds like I might be able to do this by renaming "Bob" to "Bob Reynolds" and then putting them under the same parent, right?   That would be helpful.
    Exactly, rename the keyword "Bob" outside the group of  "Bob Reynolds" to   "Bob Reynolds" and then drag the second  "Bob Reynolds" to the other group. You first will get a warning that some images carry the keyword, then you will be prompted if you want to merge the keywords.
    Again, thanks for that - that helps.
    The problem with the "search" is that I have keywords with people's name in them (as well as within the name of the file).   In other words, I have keywords like "Bob's Wedding" - if I search for Bob, I get that too.   I want to be able to quickly search for people, locations, etc. within that search.
    It looks like you are using keywords for task that can be done in Aperture with other tools, like "Faces" or "Places" or "Project Names". To find people I search the "Faces", to find vacation pictures I search the locations, events I search by date. Maybe you can shorten your keyword list by looking at the other options.
    Possibly. however, I think the reason I started doing that (back in the days that I was on a PC and use Adobe) was that I like to be able to easily find pictures of Me, with my brother and my mother.   I don't think you can do that with Faces, can you?   I do nee to start playing more with Places.   I like flagging separate events.
    I'm sitting here organizing keywords as we've been back and forth on this and the Keyword HUD could be perfect - if would only allow me to create a search - not just mess with the keywords.
    Would be nice if there was an easier way to assign keywords with the keyboard.   Being limited to only 8 keywords at a time (via the option xyz key) along with "," and "." is awkward.
    I wish Kirby Krieger would drop in - I remember he once wrote a nice post explaining how to use the textfield in the keyboard controls to assign keywords by typing, but I cannot find this post right now.
    But the basic idea is, if you show the keyword controls (shift-D), there is a textfield with the message "add keyword" written into it. If you now start typing the name of a keyword, you will get a drop down list with possible completions and you can pick one of the suggestions to quickly assign the keyword to your selected images.
    If you can find the post, that would be great - would love to read it.  Again, the problem is ease of use.   I hit "shift D", then I need to go to the mouse to click on the "add keyword", then type it and hit return.   If I accidentally assign the wrontg keyword, I need to go back to the mouse, click on "meta data", then highlight and delete the keyword I incorrectly assigned.
    Overall, the MAIN reason I use something like Aperture is for photo organization and keywording.   The editing is a nice to have - but I can use Adobe for that if needed.   I'd give up everything it would simply allow me to quickly add my images, assign keywords, and edit.
    Thanks again!

  • Keywords for iTunes

    I've created my podcast with Garageband, and posted it with iWeb. I can't see anyway to put keywords in my podcast for searching on iTunes. Is there a way to do it?

    If you are using a .mac account, it will be on your iDisk.
    /Volumes/YOUR_ACCOUNT NAME/Web/RSS/iWeb/YOUR_SITENAME/Podcast/rss.xml
    Just copy the rss.xml file to your computer. Then edit it, (make a copy so that you can restore the original if you need to). After you make the changes, just copy it back to the original location.
    I used BBEdit to make my changes. You have to make the changes everytime that you upload a new podcast. Because iWeb will overwrite the one that is there.
    I hope this helps.

  • Common Keywords for Multiple Libraries

    Hello,
    I have a number of iPhoto libraries, each of which has its own set of Keywords. I now want to use a single set of Keywords to all the libraries. Is there a way to do this without having to manually edit the Keyword preferences for each library?
    Thanks.
    Mike

    Hello Terence,
    I have no idea who Kevin is! Sorry about that. Now that I have the name straight, maybe I can get my message straight!
    I understand that the keywords are part of the iPhoto database. My goal is for all my libraries to share a common list of keywords. Specific pictures in a library would be assigned applicable keywords from the common list. Thus, keywords for particular pictures will be different in almost all cases. This difference is why I don't see how to avoid having to assign the specific keywords on a picture by picture basis.
    Thanks for the Keyword Manager link. It gets great reviews and I think it could be very helpful for what I am trying to do. However, KM 1.4.1 fails to install on my iBook G4, OS 10.4.11. I have posted this to Bullstorm and it looks like I need to install SIMBL in order for KM to install. From my web searches it looks like SIMBL could lead to headaches with future software upgrades. After I update my keywords, I plan to upgrade from iPhoto 6 to iPhoto 8 and then later this year I will move to OS 10.5. Assuming no other changes do you think this will lead to problems with SIMBL?
    Thanks for your help and patience!

  • A keyword for marking default protection

    Today java is missing a keywork for marking default (package) protection. This is marked just by not using private, protected or public.
    To me code with a explicit defined protection is easier to read than code where protection is defined by not using any keyword.
    I think java should have a keyword for explicitly declaring the protection level.
    I have searched bugs.sun.com for an issue about this, but didn't find any.
    Does anybody here has any thoughts about this topic?

    I agree that I wish package-private had its own keyword, as I think it would make code more readable (a compiler preprocessor instruction forcing yourself to specify access level might be nice too). Personally, because there was no keyword for package-private, I spent the majority of my Java life thinking that the default (no keyword) was the same as "protected", because I assumed it had to be one of the three (public, protected or private). So from my experience anyway, not having a keyword is introducing a lot more confusion than adding one late in the game.
    The biggest problem I'd see with the addition would be that they haven't reserved a suitable keyword, and introducing a new keyword will either 1. run the risk of breaking existing code (identifiers using keywords added late) or 2. increase parser complexity.
    Could always use the default keyword in a separate context though:
    public class Clazz  {
       default int myData;
    }Or change the grammar rules for declarations:
    public class Clazz {
       package private int myData;
    }
