Keywords from Lightroom 2 to Explorer

It appears that when I keyword in Lightroom 2, those keywords are not picked up by Explorer. When I keyworded in Bridge, they were.
Is there some setting I need to change in order to have Explorer pick up the keywords? Sometimes I want to seach in Explorer and I'd like to have the keywords there too...
Any suggestions?
Thanks much,
MF

I have been using Windows Live Photo Gallery in XP to apply keywords and they appear in Lightroom 2 and Bridge. And, Kenneth, embedded keywords written in XMP in Lightroom (with Edit>Catalog Settings...>Metadata>Automatically write changes into XMP)show up in Windows Live Photo Gallery. I find this all very useful.Use Ctrl+S if you want to leave Lightroom open and view the XMP data at the same time in another program. Otherwise it will not be visible until you close LR. I also find it a bit cumbersome to separately import the jpg copy of the RAW file so that I can attach the keywords that will then be visible in other organisers such as Windows Live Photo Gallery etc..
Is there a way of having them import from the camera into Lightroom at the same time as the RAW file? I will keep looking, but maybe it is something to consider for Lightroom 3?

  • Importing keywords from Lightroom

I plan on purchasing a new iMac with Adobe Aperture and would like to know if I can import my pictures from Lightroom on my PC into Aperture (on the iMac) with the keywording kept intact...
    Is this possible?

ONLY if you convert the images to DNG files prior to import. Aperture will read ratings and keywords in DMG (or TIFF or JPEG) files. It will not read them from XMP sidecar files (which IMO is pretty unfortunate).

  • Importing Keywords from Lightroom/Elements?

Recently upgraded from Elements to Lightroom/CS5.  Keywords from elements useable in Lightroom but lightroom/Elements Keywords not showing up in Bridge.  Is there a way to import them.  If not, this really handcuffs the switch to Bridge.  Any and all help appreciated.

Lightroom and Elements use a database to store metadata.  Bridge and many other progams store the info on the image.
In Elements you want to click file/write keywords tag and properties info to photo.  Then you can read it in Bridge.

  • Deleting ALL keywords from Lightroom database?

Hi, gang. I've been playing around with Lightroom and Bridge and I've realized that I got very deep into adding keywords in Lightroom but that I would much rather add them in Bridge, then import them into Lightroom. The problem is that I now have amassed a huge number of keywords that migrate into Bridge and that are time-consuming to change. I'd rather just delete every keyword in Lightroom at once, then re-create them in Bridge, and THEN import them into Lightroom.
So, does anyone know if Lightroom has one specific file that it stores in a folder somewhere that I can just delete? If I have to go through and delete each keyword one at a time, I'll just uninstall Lightroom and reinstall it (unless there's also a way to dump my whole database and start again).
    Thanks for the help!

    >Does this not need confirmation on each keyword as you delete it?
He's been polishing his crystal ball again ;-)
The dialog will probably tell you that keyword X will be deleted from Y photos and give you the option to Cancel or Delete All. Chose Delete All and ALL selected keywords will be deleted. The dialog is either presenting the wrong info about what will be deleted or is deleting everything when it shouldn't. Strangely, had there been 100 selected keywords then you would need to hit Cancel 100 times.

  • How do I transfer keywords in Lightroom from one computer to another?

How do I transfer keywords in Lightroom from one computer to another?

You know, in the one screen capture, from the old computer, we can see that the photo has the keyword "bees"
In the other screen capture, from the new computer, we cannot see the keyword "bees"
And better yet, show us the Keywording Panel instead of the Keyword List Panel
I am also concerned that you are showing us the original catalog on the new computer that you created via importing the photos. That's not what we want to see.
So please confirm  that you are using the catalog file that was copied from the old computer, and when placed on the new computer, you double-clicked on that exact catalog file, and then created the screen capture. Please confirm that you are NOT looking at the catalog you created by importing the photos.

  • Will the Keywords transfer from Lightroom to Bridge?

Will the Keywords transfer from Lightroom to Bridge

In LR once you add a keyword, have that thunbnail highlighted and (if on a Mac) hit the Command Key + the S key and it will send the info so it will be readable in Bridge. Or go to Metadata and click to send metadata to file. (I don't know the shortcut for a PC)  I haven't done it with PSCC yet, but in CS6 I quite often had to close out Bridge and re-start it and the keywords showed up.

  • Importing Keywords from Excel into Lightroom (XMP)

My current photo log is in Excel. I'm thinking of moving to Lightroom. Does anyone know if there would be a programmatic way to import keywords from an Excel file, and avoid having to manually apply keywords to each imported image? The data in my Excel file provides a perfect (nearly perfect?) correspondence between keyword and image file name. I know next to nothing about XMP, but I could get some help if I knew this was possible. Thanks!

Garry, try this: Take one image in LR, apply some metadata and use "Metadata > XMP > Export XMP Metadata to File". Examine this xmp file to see what it has to look like.

  • Can Premier Pro make use of caption and keyword metadata from Lightroom

I’m using Premier CS6 to create a slideshow with images from Lightroom. When I export from Lightroom, I have quite a bit of Metadata encoded into the image and I’m wondering if there is a way to see that metadata in Premier?
I’m probably dreaming but I’d love to be able to create a lower third, title template that would get its information from the Caption field in Lightroom.
Any other tips for using Lightroom and Premier together would be appreciated.

Whatever metadata is viewable in PP will be available in the metadata pane.  However, titles cannot automatically 'grab' their data from any source.  It has to be typed or copied in manually.

  • Exporting metadata from Lightroom to Excel

For all those out there wanting to export metadata from Lightroom to CSV, I have found a Fantastic Company www.pkzsoftware.com that sell their product for approx AUS $10.00 "Lightroom Metadata Explorer" it works perfectly and their customer service is just the best you will find anywhere, being a computer novice I had a few problems and they went out of their way to assist me to get exactly the data I needed. Can't speak highly enough of the Company.

    John,
Thanks for your reply and the references to the tools. I ran the sqlLite Database Browser to look at the LR database, and to be honest it was pretty much gibberish to me. There's over 50 tables in the database and some quick browsing through them revealed data that would seem to require a knowledge of the database structure to extract. I'm a photographer with very good knowledge of how to use software tools to do my job, but I'm not a programmer and really don't have the time or the desire to become one.
My point is any good database software should have the capability to generate at least a flat file of the information contained within. In LR's case, I (and it seems others based on feature requests) would like to see a capability of exporting a CSV or tab-delimited file of the information contained in the side panels (i.e., keywords, the metadata browser, and the metadata panel for starters) on an image-by-image basis. I could then use the output in any of several other tools to do what I need.
Thanks again for your helpful links. Maybe someone can come up with a "CSV generator" using one of those tools that could be shared among LR users.

  • How to access Camera Raw when invoking CS5 from Lightroom 3?

When I invoke CS5 from Lightroom, my NEF files seem to load directly without giving me an opportunity to make adjustments in Camera Raw. If I open the same NEF file from windows Explorer, CS5 presents the Camera Raw adjustment page and I can make adjustments before proceeding.
How can I work around this?
BTW I know I can make camera raw adjustments in Lightroom and then open in CS5, however for an image that I know I will be using CS5 on anyway, I don't want to do anything at all in LR just go direct to CS5 but I can't do this if this bypasses my ability to make adjustments in camera raw!
I must be missing something here, can anyone point me in the right direction?
    [I'm using Camera Raw 6.1, LR3, CS5 12.0.1 x64; Invoking CS5 from LR3 by right-click on image, Edit In > Edit in Adobe Photoshop CS5]

That workaround did work for me so thanks for the helpful reply!
If anyone else has other ways of making this work I'd like to hear about it.
    Thanks,

  • Camera raw and Photoshop CS3 from Lightroom

(2.5) If I open a raw image from Windows Explorer or Bridge (which I don't use much), Camera Raw 4.6 opens. It doesn't open if I Edit In Photoshop CS3 from Lightroom, but says "This version of Lightroom may require the Photoshop Camera Raw plug-in version 5.5 for full compatibility. Camera Raw version 4.6 is the latest version available for Photoshop CS3".
There are two choices: Render using Lightroom and Open Anyway. If I say the former, it doesn't use the file name, but does something like -2.tif.
I'm not sure what these two choices actually do.
Secondly, if things were working properly, would Lightroom actually open the Camera Raw window? If so, is there anything I can do short of upgrading PS to CS4?
    Thanks.

Just a little history of the profiles being displayed for your camera model. The camera calibration tab only displays the profiles that are specific to your camera and model. The earler profiles were named after the version of ACR that was in use when they were created.
    So.
ACR 4.2 the first profile created for your camera model when support was introduced.
ACR 4.4, Adobe created/ updated new profiles for most of the supported camera models with this release of ACR.
Adobe Standard Beta, updated profile when the Beta of ACR 5.0 and LR 2.0 were introduced.
Adobe Standard, Updated profile for the final release of ACR 5.0 and LR 2.0. This then is the latest profile created for your camera model. I think it should be the closest to your camera standard.
Adobe did not create any other camera matching profiles Vivid, Neutral etc other than for the more popular Nikon and Canon models.  I have an Olympus so I am in the same boat.

  • When I open an image in Photoshop from Lightroom it does not show any adjustments, without restarting photoshop between each picture.

I am using Macbook Pro, Photoshop CC, and Lightroom 5.
The problem is: When I start edit in photoshop from Lightroom, the adjustment in Lightroom does not showing up in Photoshop. This has never been happen before while using Photoshop 6.
I have tried to reinstall the products several times, including OS Yosemite. But it does not help.

The problem with write permissions for the OneDrive folder only shows up in Lightroom 6's export dialogue, that's why it's to irritating. Lightroom 5.7.1 is not having that problem nor does the file explorer. The problem also exists on both of my machines. I will try to check for other problems with the OneDrive troubleshooter though: Running the OneDrive troubleshooter - Windows Help

  • Can't open photos in Camera Raw from Lightroom

    Hi!
I used to open my (RAW) photos from Lightroom (2) into Camera Raw - it did it automatically when I clicked "edit in photoshop". Now it doesn't work anymore, and I have no idea why - it opens the pictures directly into Photoshop (CS4).
However, it works from the finder and from Bridge. Any idea what I should do to get that functionality back? I know some of you will say I should just develop my RAWs into LR, but I prefer Camera Raw and would love to get that option back.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    1. I'm shouting because you don't seem to be hearing me when I'm speaking normally.
I (and others) are hearing. And we are offering what we can.  You're
just not accepting it, in the spirit given, even if it's not what you
    had hoped to hear.
    2. I DO want to open CR. What I'm trying to accomplish is NOT to edit several pictures at once, but to open CR from Lightroom.
So ... you don't really care about editing multiple pictures; you only
    care about using CR?
Even if I can edit multiple photos in LR, I will continue to use CR, by opening my pictures from the finder or from Bridge (which
    >I've been doing all week). I'm not trying to be hardheaded, I just like my workflow the way it is, and I made that clear in the
    >question to specifically avoid people coming around and telling me "oh but you can do this from LR". I don't care. I don't WANT to
    >do it from LR. Otherwise my question would have been "how do I do this from LR"!!
Yes, we all got your preference (repeatedly). What you don't seem to
get is the fact that - even if you can't get what you want (i.e.,
using CR), you can still edit multiple pictures. Isn't doing that
the most important element?  That you get your photos to look how
want/need them? Or your client wants/needs them, whichever? Or is the
most important thing to use a specific program?
Having a fallback plan to accomplish what you need (i.e., editing
multiple pictures) is key. Any fallback plan will be more unpleasant
    than you first preference.
Suppose the answer had been "Nope; no way to do that using CR. None at
all" ... would you then not have edited those photos some other way?
Or would you simply have abandoned your images, since you couldn't get
your first preference (CR) to work the way you wanted?
My question was clearly "how do I open my files from LR into CR". Anybody who's responding anything else than "this is how
    >you open your photos from LR into CR" or "you can't do that anymore" is just here for attention, not to help me. I would
    >understand and appreciate the impulse to show me a new workflow if I hadn't SPECIFICALLY SAID IN MY QUESTION NOT TO
    >DO THAT.
    >
How can you not understand how frustrating that is?
I can. I can also understand how you sound, when you didn't get what
exactly you wanted, which you can't seem to understand.
Regardless, others have given you insight into how to let you use CR
(or other areas to explore, anyway), which (according to you) is what
you care about. So good luck with that, and I hope you find a final
solution that makes you happy. CR is an amazing program.
