Keywords: how to unselect all keywords in Keyword Panel

I know the answer will be ridiculously simple, but what am I doing wrong here:
I am in Grid view with the Keyword Panel expanded on the left side of the screen. One of the keywords is highlighted--let's say, as an example, I have "wildflowers" highlighted.
Let's say I decide I need to search for a slide but don't want to search within that keyword. If I enter my search term in the Find input box, it just looks within the keyword I happen to have selected.
In order to make the Find search look at all my images regardless of keyword, I have to select ALL the keywords.
There must be an easier way to unhighlight all keywords in the Keyword Panel. It seems you can move the highlight up and down but you always have one keyword highlighted.
Help.
Stan

>I think I see that the only way to remove the highlight from all Keywords is to go up to the Library bar and select All Photographs.
Stan, you can also click on any collection or any folder, or Previous Import or Quick Collection. Note that Ctrl-B is the shortcut to display the Quick Collection.
> In the Library modules left panel, the top sections top item is All Photographs.
Bob, Judith is trying to avoid that by hopefully using a shortcut key to display All Photographs. But there isn't one.

  • Exporting: How to include all metadata but keywords?

When exporting to JPEG, is there any way to export all of the metadata that is currently exported, but exclude just the keywords? I know there is an option to minimize metadata on export, but that seems to remove everything but the copyright information. I know you can also right click on individual keywords in the library panel and uncheck the "include on export" checkbox. It seems, however, that you cannot select all the keywords and apply this globally- you have to select each keyword individually and make the change (as far as I can tell).
So- what is the quickest way to remove just the keywords from an export, leaving all other metadata intact? Thank you.

Yes, that works for individual keywords, but when I try to select ALL of my keywords at once and apply the change it does not save it. Since I have 200+ keywords, I'm looking for a quick, global solution.

How can I show all of the keywords used in iPhoto.  There seems to be alimit on how many can be displayed.

When I click the "Edit Keywords" button, I get a list of all keywords. I just added several hundred random keywords, and they are all visible, when I scroll the list in "Edit Keywords" view.
Have you the scroll bars hidden? You can enable the scroll bars in the System Preferences > General tab:   enable "Show Scroll bars - always".

PSE keeps your keywords, categories, albums, stacks, version sets, captions, notes, dates, and star ratings in a file in a "catalog folder".  (Do Help > System Info to find the location of your catalog folder).  When you make a backup with the PSE File > Backup command, it copies all your photos and the catalog file into the backup.   When you restore from that backup, it copies that catalog file and all your photos to the location you specify.

how can i configure my wireless keyword so i can use the Function <F> keys to control volume etc...? I am using 10.5.8 OS

little wireless cameras would not have the ability to send back to the base, even thought the base can reach it.
Now if you take regular cameras and wire them into a Cisco switch that was attached to a wireless bridge that could shine back to the base...now you might have something, but your still going to have to do a survey/path analysis to determine if it is feasible.
Coverage isnt throughput. I see one base station with 3 or 4 sectoral antennas depending on direction, pointing two several distribution bridges to bridge the gaps that go out again to the cameras...something like that. And all of it should be higher in the air than your construction.

  • How do I change Itunes:summary, keyword and description tags?

    Hey guys,
I have created my podcast in garageband and then uploaded it to Iweb. I submitted my podcast to itunes and it has been approved. The title of the Podcast is Heaven's Lounge and I put it in the music category. Below is the link.
    http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=262795345
However, when I do any type of search it says podcast cannot be found.
I have been reading alot of post regarding Itunes summary, keyword and description tags.
How do I go about adding keywords and description tags? I can't figure it out in Iweb.
    Someone please help.
    Thanks

Shouldn't really need to do that.  I have iCloud turned on on my
iPhone all the time, as I do on all my Macs.  I am still able to backup
and sync apps and music to iTunes via USB.  I do keep "Backup to iCloud"
turned off in iCloud preferences on the iPhone.  I do occasionally turn it
on and do a immediate backup to iCloud then turn it back off.  Can't have
    too many backups.
Actually did it this morning while contemplating whether to update to 11.

  • How to quickly reassign previously used keywords

    I'm using Adobe Bridge CS6.
My problem is that I have something like 3000 images, in several folders, to apply keywords to, and the keywords happen to be the names of the people appearing in those photos, and I cannot find an easy way to reapply existing keyword assignments. Let me explain:
Some photos will be a single person, others 2 or 3 in a shot, others maybe 6-8 people. And they appear in constantly changing configurations. For example, "John" may appear alone in photos 1-20, with "Peter" in photos 21-22, with "Sandy" and "Peter" in photos 23-30, "Peter" and "Sandy" alone without "John" in photos 31-70, and "John" by himself alone in photos 71-150, etc., with 500-1000 photos per folder. It gets really tedious when you have a group of 6-8 people that is seen occasionally or partially, interspersed with headshots of single individuals. While I have all of their names set up in a master keyword list, the master list itself has maybe 250 keywords in it, and it is painfully slow and tedious to either scroll up and down to the correct names, or to use the search box at the bottom of the keywords panel, each time the mix of persons in a photo changes. (The search is probably faster, but still slow.)
What I would love to have is a panel that showed ONLY the keywords (names) that I've used for the current folder's photos, which would let me apply them to new photos with either a single click (hallelujah!) or maybe drag-and-drop. This is because the currently used keyword list, if it existed, would be so much shorter than the master list, so that all the necessary keywords would always be in view and easily accessible.
What is maddenly irksome is that the currently assigned keywords appear almost within reach in the filter panel ... but alas, it is not possible to use that panel to assign those keywords to new photos.
I don't know if what I'm hoping to do is even possible in the current version. But maybe it is, or maybe someone here has some advice to make the process less frustrating.

You can export your current keyword list as back up and create or import a temporarily dedicated shorter keyword list.
But if you look at the metadata panel IPTC Core there is also the option to show the keywords applied to the image (if they don't show use the setting in Bridge Preferences Metadata Tab to select it to show)
Drag and drop is not possible but copy past is an option. Using collections you can select the files you want to apply the same keywords to, and when your search result is complete select the file that has all the correct keywords, copy the complete line of keywords, select all and paste the info in the same line to apply al keywords in one go to all selected files.
Is that about what you are looking for or am I completely misunderstanding your wish?

  • 2 identical sets of photos in LR4, one set shows as missing but has all keywords attached; photos not missing are missing keywords

I had to move photos and LR4 catalog from one external storage to another. I now have two identical sets of photos in the catalog but one full set is shown as missing. Easy enough to delete these but they have all my hours and hours of work on keywords attached to them. The other set of photos, the one that actually exists on the drive, has no keywords attached. I gotta have those keywords! Is there a way that won't take the rest of my life to get photos and keywords connected again?

    Thanks for helping!
Your suggestion didn't work, but it did get me tinkering around and led me to a solution that's not necessarily quick but definitely easier than re-entering all the keywords.
I was smart enough to not have deleted the photos from the thumb drive they were first saved on, so I plugged it back in. Then I went to the folders list in LR and deleted the existing, missing-keyword photos, folder by folder. Then I just dragged the images from the original drive to the the new one. Well, I'm still doing it to 1500 photos but it's working and it saves me lots of work. So thank you for helping me think of the problem and its solution in a different way. I appreciate your time.

  • How to Create a Multi Word Keyword

How do you join a multi-word keyword so it is recognized as one keyword? i.e. If you want "New York", not "New" and "York." Do you put it in quotes? Isolate it with commas? Other?
    Ocean View
    Ocean Front
    Over the Water
I try to do this in Library Mode, Keyword Creation box, I get 2 words.
Example, I type Los Angeles and get:  Angeles, Los
Nothing I try works.  I know it is common since I imported 200,000 images and I see lots of word combos used as keywords.
I read the manual, looked at tutorials, read an existing thread on this, can't find the simple answer.
I am about to start keywording my 200,000 images from the last 12 years, I need to learn this at the get go...
    How to friends?

In my experience, the keyword entry boxes (for adding keywords), properly treat spaces as data.
You may need to adjust your preferences (Interface tab):
When searching for said keywords after entry: not so much - Lr treats spaces as delimiter, not data - not as part of the search term...
I use SpaceUrchin, some people use AnyFilter, for finding metadata with spaces in it.

  • How can I see my iPhoto keywords in Aperture

I have iLife 08 and Aperture 1.5.6. I thought from the training video I would be able to see my keywords from iPhoto in Aperture. When I imported from iPhoto to Aperture, I don't even see my smart albums in there.

Are you looking for your entire list of keywords, or the keywords assigned to individual photos? The keywords in the photos should be there since Aperture knows how to read yoru iPhoto library in which your keyworded photos were stored.
Where are you looking for the keywords and not finding them? (I know that's not a very well phrased question. Like when I was a kid and my parents asked me and my brothers "Who didn't take out the garbage." The answer, of course, is "everybody in the world, since's still in the house.")
Okay, so where were you expecting to find the keywords that you didn't?

  • Aperture duplicated all of my keywords...

I had to rebuild the file allocation tables on my external hard drive. Aperture somehow duplicated all of the keywords and randomly, it appears, assigned the original keyword to some images and the duplicate keyword to other images. Is there any way to merge the keywords? Thanks

Yes there is, in the keyword HUD, drag and drop one on top of the other and a dialogue box will ask for confirmation that you wish to merge them.

  • How to add meta tags and keywords, I cannot find a way to do that

Does somebody know how can I add content and keywords to my website dome with I web?
It seems it is important for search engines to find it!

Content is what you add to your page. The visible part your visitors can see.
Keywords have to be added with [a META tag in the HEAD|http://www.google.com/search?q=meta%20tag%20head] of the webpage. That cannot be done in iWeb. You have to edit the published pages with a HTML Editor of your choice.
It's debatable whether these keywords have any impact on being found by a Search Engine.
    Provide good content.
