Keywords not working...

on multiple images...I select images and key in a keyword and press return, keywords only ONE image. I'd like to know what happened here, as in the past I had done the keywords in groups before.

You probably have the "Primary Only" checked, maybe unintentional checked by hitting "s" on the keyboard.
Go to the edit menu and uncheck it.

  • IPhoto 9.4.3-keyword "" not working correctly in smart albums

    Every May I work on the 5th Grade recognition slideshow (using Keynote) for our 5th grade students.  In iPhoto, I always give photos the checkmark keyword after I've placed that photo so that I know it's been added/used.  I have many smart photo albums with keywords like "5th graders 2012-2013" and others like the checkmark.
    None of the smart albums seem to be recognizing and using the checkmark even though it's one of the smart album criteria.  For example, I have a smart album called
    "5th grade-already used" which has the criteria Match All:  Keyword is "5th graders-2012-2013" and Keyword is "✔".  However, even after giving some photos the checkmark keyword, this smart album shows up empty.
    Similarly, I have another smart album called "5th-Still to use" which has criteria Match All: Keyword is "5th graders-2012-2013" and Keyword is not "✔". The photos that I've placed the checkmark on are STILL showing up here.
    These smart albums have always worked before.  Has anyone else noticed issues with the checkmark keyword not working properly?  It has to have happened with an update sometime in the past year.

    When I went to open the library using iPhoto Library Manager, it had to upgrade the library to work with this version of iPhoto.
    That's normal.
    Option 1
    Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
    Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)
    This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
    Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Keyword not working in search bar.

    I added keyword for search engines in search bar: for example, for You Tube, it is yt. In the search bar I enter, "yt Avatar" and it displays a Google search for the entry. Why are the keywords not working?

    You can modify the pref <b>keyword.URL</b> on the <b>about:config</b> page to use Google's "I'm Feeling Lucky" or Google's "Browse By Name".
    * Google "I'm Feeling Lucky": http://www.google.com/search?btnI=I%27m+Feeling+Lucky&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=
    * Google "Browse by Name": http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&sourceid=navclient&gfns=1&q=
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Keyword.URL
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Location_Bar_search
    To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
    If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.<br />

  • Keywords not working as expected

    OK, so I decided to go through some of my images today and start adding keywords. I watched the Keyword Quick Tour, read the manual and it all seemed pretty nifty. I particularly liked the Heirachical keywording which, s I understood it, would allow me to apply keywords to some vacation pictures as follows:
    New Zealand
    -South Island
    --Christchurch
    --Dunedin
    --Southern Alps
    ---Mt Cook
    -North Island
    etc etc
    What I hoped that this would mean is that if I wanted to find my Mt Cook photos I could just search for Mt Cook. However, if I wanted to find all of the photos from the South Island of New Zealand, say, then I could search for South Island and find all my Mt Cook photos, christchurch photos etc etc.
    Unfortunately it doesn't appear that it works this way, I'm getting some very weird search results back. And it gets even weirder if you start changing the heirachy about after you've applied the keywords. So what's going on, does anyone know if Keywords actually work as advertised? I assumed that it was using some sort of intelligent taxonomy id system but now I'm not so sure....
    Or am I just getting the wrong end of the stick?
    Many thanks,
    Phil

    if you use the Limited Text search option and search for South Island, you should get all images including those using the sub-keywords. what kind of weird results are you getting?
    as for the second part of your question: Aperture doesn't link the keywords in the images to the keywords in the Keyword HUD. I believe it writes the keywords directly to the image and automatically orphans them there.
    what's happening when you change the hierarchy?

  • Smart album using keyword not working

    I'm creating smart albums using keywords. Today I created two smart albums tagging select photos with key words. One album has worked correctly, the other album is empty, showing only black background. I've confirmed photos are tagged with the one key word, I've confirmed the key word exists in the list. I can't figure out why the smart album is not generating.

    Try going to the Q tab and get rid of all the search field by clicking the circle at the right hand side, leaving only the Keywords field, then ensure the rating field is at unrated or better as this field cannot be removed. Allan

  • Keywords not working correctly

    I've spent a couple of days adding keywords to my project in FCP X but I'm wondering whether it's been a waste of time because now, the wrong clips are appearing when I click a keyword collection in the browser.
    The keywords are to do with training a sheepdog. You'll see from the image that I've clicked the 'Flanks - widen' keyword collection but the keyword for the selected clip is 'Driving-teaching'. (I've cropped the pic a little tightly but be assured, 'Flanks - widen' does not appear as one of that clip's keywords).
    I first noticed a problem when selecting the 'Driving' keyword collection, revealed clips with the 'Driving - teaching' keyword. At first, I suspected this was because the word driving was common to both, so I removed the spaces (to give Driving-teaching' but it made no difference. (Maybe the hyphens cause errors)?
    If anyone can help here, I'd be most grateful.
    I've been very disappointed to discover that FCPX will not, in fact sync my clips (long or short, with identical audio). Now, if the keywords are going to fail me, it will be a big blow to my project.
    Lastly - no, dogs don't drive cars, they drive sheep!
    Andy

    Andy,
    It does sound like a bug to me.  I can't reproduce it on my machine (even with the hyphens).  Have you tried making a smart collection and basing it on certain keywords to see if it's behavior is the same?
    Have you expanded the keyword window to be sure that the other keywords weren't included outside of the view?
    You might test the keyword collections behavior using "Driving" as a single keyword, adding that keyword to ALL driving clips, then adding secondary keywords such as "teaching."  See if that alters anything.
    When all else fails, you might also try repairing permissions & restarting the computer.  It worked for me with a very unusual FCPX bug.
    Sorry if that's not much help, but I'm far from the most experienced here.  Good luck!

  • Bridge keywords not working ....

    I have recently upgraded to Photoshop Cs5 / Bridge CS4. As part of this u/g my system seems to have lost the keywords that were added in the older version.
    I cannot find the .plist file which is where i think this information is held.
    How can I ask Bridge to re-index my catalog?
    Thanks in advance for your help.

    First check in edit/preferences/thumbnails.  You need a check mark in additional lines of metadata for keywords to show.
    Cache for CS4 and CS5 are different so it should automatically re-index.

  • After up date keyword not working

    after i updated my phone is not workin right, when typing i will type and it will take long to actualy type,
    pres on key and it wont do nothing and then seconds later it wiil type by it self

    In the new up date the router can extend the wireless signal without a cat 5 cable.  To use the cat 5 cable you have to put the router in "Create a wireless network " not extend one.  After talking with apple support, The trouble is now solved and we can walk from one end of the house to the other with out missing a Byte

  • Aperture keywords not working

    I am using 3.5. I select a group of photos in the browser (or list) and drag the keyword from the HUD over the selection, but it only attaches to the one I actually stop on. What's up?

    As firstlaunch wrote you probably have Primary only set. When that is on actions only apply to the primary selection.
    See Edit->Primary Only
    Or the icon at the bottom right of the viewer

  • Aperture 3.4.5 - Keyword Buttons Not Working

    I am using Aperutre 3.4.5 and all of a sudden my keyword button panel is not working.
    - Select multiple images - not working
    - Select single image - not working
    - Type in to the "Add Keyword" box - works for single and multiple images
    - No keywords (stock or new) work with the buttons
    - Metadata > Add keyword - not working
    Aperture has really started to go downhill. My Nik FX plugins have all become really buggy and Aperture crashes probably 1 in 4 times I use it.
    I am running my library off a Thunderbolt drive but symptoms have been happening since before then.

    The irony, I repaired my permissions and library twice and once as prompted by Aperture before I posted. I quit Aperture and looked for my KeywordSets.plist and it was missing. I opened Aperture again and it asked repair the library again so I did and voila, buttons are now working

  • ACCEPT in SQL script not working

    G'day
    Why does the following use of the 'accept' keyword not work?
    I want a user to be prompted to either commit or rollback but it does not work in the following 'experiment'
    set echo on
    set termout on
    set feedback on
    update emp set sal = sal*2 where ename = 'SCOTT';
    accept action char prompt 'rollback or commit >'
    &action
    the following is what happens when i run the script:
    SQL> @temp02.sql
    SQL> set echo on
    SQL> set termout on
    SQL> set feedback on
    SQL> update emp set sal = sal*2 where ename = 'SCOTT';
    1 row updated.
    SQL> accept action char prompt 'rollback or commit >'
    rollback or commit >rollback
    SQL> &action
    SP2-0042: unknown command "&action" - rest of line ignored.
    Any suggestions appreciated.
    Tony

    Hi, Tony,
    Welcome to the forum!
    SQL*Plus looks at the first word of a statement before resolving substitution variables. (I don't know why; it resolves them regardless of what the command is.) At any rate, the first word of a command that SQL*Plus interprets has to be spelled out.
    "BEGIN" that starts an anonymous block counts as the first word, so you can take Andy's suggestion much further by simply saying:
    BEGIN
        &action;
    END;
    /@ also counts as the first word, so you could also have one-line scripts called commit.sql
    COMMIT;and rollback.sql,
    ROLLBACK;and then say
    @&action

  • LR 2.1 & 2.0 ~ DRAG & DROP not working correctly with  photos when moving, applying keywords

    Today this issue started, originally in 2.0, updated to 2.1 and issue continues.
    Issue: DRAG & DROP feature with mouse (or pad on laptop) will select multiple photos, (with CTRL & SHIFT key as typical with Windows machines)but when I try to move them to a different folder, or drop them onto a keyword, it will not work.
    Specifically, I select two photos to move to a different folder, the selection work, but when I try to "grab" the selected photos, Lightroom defaults to One Photo, and it will not grab it to move it. However, I can "right click" on the intended folder and can select "move selected photos to folder" and that works. This issue also applys to assigning keywords, and I would assume other similiar actions. I should note, that I can "rotate", assign "labels", "stars", and Keywords from Keyword sets, it just happens with the "Drag & Drop" feature.
    Help
    The feature works correctly in other Windows programs, so I'm sure it's related to Lightroom and not the mouse.
    I have a Windows Vista machine, 3GB RAM 160GB HD, ~ 75% free space, AMD Turion X2 Dual Core 70 Processor. Everything has worked fine up until this morning.
    Prior to upgrading to 2.1, I optimized my Catalogue. Everything seems to work fine except this feature.
    Help

    Drag by the actual image area of the thumbnail, not the surrounding 'fake slide' cell.
    That's a feature of Lightroom's grid view. Clicking on image area of thumbnail keeps the multiple selection and makes the image clicked the primary select. Clicking on the outer thumbnail area deselects all but the active image.

  • Keyword autocomplete not working in main interface (but works in import dialog)

    Keyword autocompletion is not working for me in the Keywording panel of the Library. I type the first few letters o a known keyword, and nothing happens.
    The feature works as normal, however, in the Keyword section of the import diagog box.
    Does anyone have any idea how I might have gotten myself into this situation, and how to re-enable autocompletion in the main interface?

    Autocompletion works fine when you type the keyword into the text entry field "Click here to add keywords" (see attached screenshot).
    Above is changed behaviour from version 1.x and was provided so that users could choose to use autocomplete or not.

  • 3.4: keyword auto-completion not working for multiple levels

    Auto-completion does not work with higher level keywords, which used to work in LR 3.3 (IIRC).
    Example:
    I enter in the "Click here to add keywords" field:
    "He" then LR tries to complete the keyword by showing keywords starting with "He". Fine.
    But this is a keyword which does not exist so far, so I enter "Heldenplatz > W" because I want to have sorted it under Wien. If I'm not mistaken, LR 3.3 showed after entering the "W" a list of existing keywords starting with W (auto-completion for the one level higher tag). This is not the case anymore. I have to enter  "Heldenplatz > Wien" completely, which makes it slow and error-prone.
    Am I mistaken or can you reproduce it?
    Cheers

    How can it be, after all this time, that they still do not have effective regression testing in place ? Any sane development team (who wants to remain sane ;-) builds this as a priority ... unless they aren't given the resources?
    I think (don't remember though) that this never worked, so regression testing would not have helped.
    What is really to worry, that features aren't consequently and completely implemented (and tested). With a new option in Lightroom 3, Adobe has offered support for keywords with spaces. It seems that this feature as neither been thoroughly analysed or implemented. Thus, we face the currently inconsequent support of it:
    keyword completion only works with the first entered word, but when you enter a complete keyword hierarchy using the ">" letters
    filtering seems to have problems too
