Keywords or Metatags

Any help or advise on adding Metatags or Keywords for search
engines please?

>>Not sure what you mean by h1 and h2 tags
That's a red flag suggesting you haven't yet mastered HTML.
Until you do
this will be mysterious and frustrating. Time to crack a book
or two.

  • Keywords and Metatags

I want to put keywords and Meta tags with my website.  Do I put that in html or am I meant to sort that out through my server?  I want to help search engines find my site.

As Nadia says, keywords alone won't drive traffic to your site.  Good, relevant, keyword rich content is king.  Here are some resources to help you understand what your site needs to be Search Engine friendly.

  • Searching for file information

Is it possible to search for files that have File Information data embedded? The info could have been entered in either the Origin or Description tabs, and will have been entered in both CS3 and CS4 versions of Photoshop (ie not through Bridge).
I would like to find: A) all files that have any sort of file info attached, and B) to be able to search by keyword (or metatag, I'm not 100% sure of the difference).
    Many thanks for any help.
    Brian

Dear Curt, thanks for your prompt reply!
Thats not quite what I was asking about. I have a customer's archive of many thousands of scans of 35mm slides, negs etc. (not from digi cameras). Some of these images have file info embedded - typed in using the File Info command in Photoshop. I need to be able to sort out those that have the info from those that do not, and further, I want to be able to search for a particular term, for example "british rock group".
I know about how to Search using Ctrl-F, and I have discovered the drop-down box that lets you select items to search on, but it doesn't appear to work properly, so either its a bug or I'm doing it wrong. For example, if I do a search where Keywords + Exists, it only finds 12 images and I know for certain that there are many more than 12 images that have info attached. If I change it to Description + Exists, it still only finds the same 12 images. If I search for Description + Contains + British rock group, it finds nothing, even though I can see two pictures that clearly have the term "british rock group" in their descriptions from the previous "Keywords + Exists" search.
I'm sure the data has been entered correctly in File Info in the first place, so I don't understand why Bridge cant find these files (or more than 12), there are many hundreds of files that have data embedded.
    This is Bridge v 3.0.0.464 in CS4.

  • Wondering where metatags/keywords are kept

    Hi there,
Wondering if anyone knows if metatags/keywords are kept somewhere outside of Bridge/CS4 (somewhere on my computer...?). If so, where please?
    Thanks!

Again, it depends on what metadata/tags you want to read. Keywords are entered on the file so even Windows Exporter can read them (called tags).  With Vista you can even search for them.
If you want the ISO,  metering pattern, lens length, whether the flash went off, camera serial number, or whatever, that may have a different answer.
Whether of not another program can read Bridge metadata and keywords I don't know.
This may be a round-about answer, but as with most things there are a lot of variables that influence the answer.

  • Updating metatags keywords

    Hello everyone.
I recently bought a Microsoft Vista laptop. I find that the Windows Photo Gallery is an excellent way to organize all my photos.
The problem is that I have put meta keywords on several photos via Windows Photo Gallery. How do I update this info to Adobe Lightroom? Is there not an easy way to update this info in the Lightroom software?
    /Jimmy

Lightroom is not a multi-user application, and so you can, via tedious manipulation of files, achieve the result you want, but I should also note that make one mistake, and you potentially have a real mess on your hands.
The best solution (in my opinion) is to put the catalog file and all photos on a server that you can both access. The drawback to doing this is that only one person can be working with a specific Lightroom catalog at a time. And given my usual advice to use only one catalog, this may not meet your needs.
If that's not a good solution, then the intern can create her own temporary catalog of the portion of the photos to be worked on today, add keywords and other metadata, and then pass the catalog file to you to merge with your main catalog using the command File->Import from another catalog.
As another alternative, if the only task the intern will carry out is adding keywords and other metadata, there are many freeware solutions that your intern can use for this, and then when she is done in a particular folder, you can in Lightroom select all the photos in that folder, and then read the metadata from the photo files. For Windows, two such freeware programs are GeoSetter and ExifToolGUI.

  • Iweb keywords vs. old metatags

I just got my personal domain working. In the process I lost my place in google search. Since iweb doesn't use tags, how can I get my web site to show up again? I did put in a lot of key words in my copy, but my .com doesn't even show up in a google search.

Many suggest using Google, http://www.google.com/addurl/, instead of adding metatags. However, you can add metatags to your published site using the freeware iWeb SEO Tool 1.0.1.
More info on using Google can be had here: http://iwebfaq.org/site/iWeb_Google.html

  • Flex 3 & Google Webmaster Tools' Keywords

    Hi,
I've got a Flex 3 website. Unfortunately, Google Webmaster Tools lists zero keywords for my site. My site's been up for about a month. I submitted a sitemap. I've put a description and keywords metatags in the HTML wrapper.
Any advise on what else I should do?
Does anyone have a Flex 3 site for which Google Webmaster Tools lists keywords?
    Thank you.
    -Laxmidi

On my site, all Google does is extract "keywords" from the page title for Webmaster Tools. So, I only end up with two keywords! The page ranking uses the keywords you put into the META tags, and I get good results with page ranking. AFAIK, they are not the same thing. Try using desired keywords in the page title, but don't go overboard or they will penalize you.

  • Metatags funktionieren nicht

    Liebe Leute

  • Keywords in CS5

Is there a limit to the number of keywords/phrases and page descriptions can you put in the keyword function in CS5?   My site offers a range of services and we are targeting a wide range of areas and cities potentially adding up to 100s of keyword permutations and variations.   We also need to direct potential visitors to the homepage only for them to then decide where they want to go so we cannot split these keywords between pages.     Also, how does this keyword function work alongside SEO activity (metatags/keywords etc) done within the coding of the site itself?   Thanks.

CS4 and CS5 use different cache systems.  For a serch to work you will have to build the CS5 cache.  Do a search with the box checked search non-indexed files.

  • Non-scripter attempting a metatagging script

my script is doing everything i want except it is converting all spaces and periods to semicolons in the final metatag and i cannot figure out why.
It will be VERY obvious that the attached script is nothing but a bunch of snippets clipped together to perform most of what i want...
I want to run this script at the end as i am completing a project to insert the needed metatags.
    i want the project name
    i want the copyright info
i want keywords to include all images used in the document
i want to be able to add keywords.
to run this script you will need a character style called    KeywordsCStyle

Well, I've tried to implement your instructions on the template (see below for EXACT code).   But on all the "child" pages, I am ONLY still allowed to edit the "Title" tag.  Everything else is still GRAYED-OUT (unable to edit).

  • Need Help inserting metatags into IWEB website.

How do I insert HTML metatag code (description and keywords) into my IWEB website hosted by GoDaddy?

As far as SEO is concerned, the title tag is the most important. The meta tag, or keywword tag, is not given much importance by Google anymore due to overuse and abuse but may be worth including for other search engines.
The title tag can be added in iWeb but, since it is mostly useless without a meta description, its better to use the freeware iWeb SEO Tool to add this stuff...

  • Comments & Keywords for Inspector

I am a little confused at the Keywords and Comments field in the inspector. The manual seems to make this out to be something that only shows up if using the spotlight. However, common sense would be to assume this helps indexing and searching on the iBookstore.
I tried to do some searching on this, but I'm hearing two different stories. One is that this should work, and the other is that currently the iTunes Store does not use search terms at all, this is only taken from the book title and sub title and there is no meta-data available to submit at all.
I would like to know what the concensus is here.

This question pops up at intervals and  having searched  all I can for answers.. there does not seem to be one.
What I can say ... is what I do.
The "driver" of the book is index.xml,  which if you change the bookfile suffix from .iba to .zip you  get  see the contents of the  book, look for:-  index.xml.
Keywords are used to  locate the  book when its in the store - at least  with mine when I  search  they do show my stuff, along with others matching the  keywords.
Use any relevant words or phrases and separate with a comma.
In HTML and web pages, there is a "description" metatag.
Right or wrong, I use the "comments" field as I would "description" in a web page - and  write in my  books description - which later will be  copied and pasted into iTunesProducer when starting the delivery process.
I see little  point in  writing.. "dont forget to  phone Bill"  as a valid book relative comment!
If "Comments" does act as "description" then  its in place and if little else, I know where it  is to copy it when I need to!
Sorry no definitive  answer for you....
