Keywords, subkeywords & image count mismatch

Question

Hi,
When I select a keyword in the keyword filtering panel, I get all the images containing that keyword or any contained subkeyword. Logical.
However, when I look at the image count displayed at the right of any keyword in the keyword hierarchy, I see this count doesn't include the images to which only subkeywords of this keyword were assigned. Only the images to which that "main" keyword was directly assigned are included in the count.
This behavior is inconsistent. Is there any way to change this?
Applying a subkeyword means that all keywords at a higher level in that branch of the hierarchy are also implicitly applied, otherwise, the keyword hierarchy would be totally irrelevant. So the image count should take this into account.
Did I miss something?

same problem with LR 3.4.2 on my iMac.
it has been discussed and, i believe, it was an adobe employee who said, essentially, that it "was just one of those things."

after your correction:  i have the problem with the number of files alongside the keyword folder that you described. has yours  fixed itself??
