OSX enables you to restrict applications (e.g. safari, restriction of loadable web-sites). But how to give children a fixed amount of time per day to use their account or to access the internet?

Some of the better routers allow you to set a schedule according to machine hardware number and services.

Hi all,
I know there is nothing built in to OS X, but does anyone know of a 3rd party app to count the actual time used? A good example of this would be similar to the data the iPhone's usage provides. Time in standby and time in use. I'm trying to get a good sense of how many hours I'm actually getting per cycle.
The "time remaining" built into OS X is an awful way to tell because it jumps around depending on what is happening at that time. I'd really like to know actual time, but don't want to pull out a stop watch every time I use it.
I've read of something called X-Charge or something that was made for the iBook, but can't find a download for it. It sounds like I'm looking for something similar, but for our modern day MacBooks.
Suggestions pleeeease? Thanks!

Thanks. I've actually used iStat Pro for a long time, and forgotten about the uptime spot. It's not accurate though, just checked.
After a lot of searching I found an app that does, I think, exactly what I want. It's called MiniBatteryLogger. It will show total time since the app was opened and in the detail will show how much time it has been in use.
I tried putting the MBA to sleep for an hour, and waking it up- and the "on battery" section stayed the same. So this, I think, should give me a good idea of how long I'm actually getting. Only downside is if I shut down the computer, it'll stop logging since the app will be closed out.
Still- this is a great app so far, and I'm surprised there aren't more like this.
I'd like to keep this open in case anyone has other suggestions for apps.

R12 SLA drilldown security:How to restrict drilldown based on source/AppI

We are on R12 and SLA is configured and working fine.
However we have a special requirement while performing drilldown from GL- SLA
Navigation GL Super user -->Inquiry--> Journal -->Review Journal--> Line Drilldown
Currently we can drilldown fo all sources AR/AP/PAYROLL etc
We want to restrict drilldown functionality for certain responsibility/s only to AR/AP sources
We want to restrict drilldown functionality for certain responsibility/s to only Payroll Sources
Please let me know the approach to meet the requirement.

Following actions happens on Review Journal form
Currently in our r12 instance the following actiosn and details are shown, Click Line drilldown button
1) Opens SLA html page,
showing GL journal like infirmation
Showing Journal Line information
2) On this page we have two buttons
2.1 View Transactions
Will take to subledger Transaction, You are right it would take to AR/AP etc but not payroll
2.2 View Journal Entry
will take to subledger journal entry details, it would show details for all source ap/ar etc inclusing payroll.
This is fine for one set of responsibility
We require for another reposnsibility when we click line drilldown when source is AR/AP it should show sla page
but when the source is PAYROLL, when we click lines drilldown
1)it should either not launch sla page or
2)launch sla page but no details are shown or
Can we acheive this identifying right functions in xla_sl_drilldown, create a new abc_xla_sl_drilldown menu with only functions for AR AP.
Any ideas about the approach.

You can try out the following
1) Create a RKF with a 2 Text Variable . The RKF which we are creating is amount Restricted by CalMonth .
2) Text Variable 1 will Take in user input and is hidden in query , Text variable 2 will be displayed in query .
3) With the help of CMOD / Istep = 2 restrict the Calmonth to the high value = user input , low value = first month of the quarter .
4) Test variable 2 will display the quarter .
5) The sum up will be the natural behaviour of the report , we do not need to worry about that !!!

My company have 12 APs & Cisco 5508 WLC, all things work well.
We already setup a WLAN for user can connect to internet (using local net users account), but they using their mobile phones, notebook to share internet connection with others peoples, we don't want that, we want only that user can use internet, and their mobile phone, notebook can't become a portable wifi hotspot (we see them on Rogue APs)
I known that we can use MAC address filter, but we must use local net users for some reason,
Do you have any idea, any solution for this case ?

The solution cannot be fixed with Wireless.
This solution can only be fixed using AD.
I remembered in a place where I used to work that they can control the aspect of how your computer behaves using AD to the extent you cannot use the USB ports. You'll need special permission and fill out a 12-page document to get this lifted.
With AD, you can prevent a laptop for using both Wireless and wired simultaneously.
You also have to consider using a proxy server so you'll be able to track down users.

How can i know the logging time per data acquisition?

I'm using SignalExpress version 2.5.1 Tektronix Edition.
I'm connecting my PC with a Tektronix Oscilloscope through Ethernet cross-cable.
I use SignalExpress to log the data, the question is how can i know what will the time be for each data that acquire and saved in the log?
As inside the log, under the time row, it just only show number in sequence but not time.

you can try
1. check in metadata repository to get the data target name. rsa1->metadata repository->query
2. if query exist in system, go to BEx Analyzer, type in query technical name or description, and 'change'/display the query in query designer, data target name is on right side (cube/ods).
or 3. go to table RSRREPDIR, COMPID = query technical name, and INFOCUBE is the data target name. (if you only know query description, go to table RSZELTTXT, get ELTUID and put the value to COMPUID in RSRREPDIR to get INFOCUBE the data target name)
after got the data target, go to rsa1->infoprovider, locate the data target, and right click 'show dataflow', you will get the datasource name.

How to set different message backgroud colors per account?

I have two mail accounts (say one private, one for business) in Thunderbird. Sometimes I mail (mistakenly) from the wrong account. That is, I read some mail in one account, followed by reading in the other account. I hit "compse" to send a message and forget to check that I am in the right account, the one I want to mail from. So, every now and then, I mail from the wrong account, get the incorrect 'sender' name and 'reply to' name in the message.
I looked at account settings and found I can change the background color (in mails receivend and and sent and in mails while composing). I changed the background color in ONE account (to light yellow) and expected the other account to be unchanged (white). Not so. Changing the background color in the account settings for one account changes the color in all (both) accounts.
This is both unexpected and undesirable and my problem is still there.

How to change the day and time seen on the calendar

Hi.
I am a bit confused as to how to restrict the day and time shown on a calendar.
The ical help says this:
To change the days of the week or the number of hours that appear in the main calendar view, choose iCal > Preferences, and make your choices from the Week and Day pop-up menus in the General pane. For example, you can choose to only see the hours from 9AM to 5PM on Monday through Friday.
However, in my preferences pane, i don't have a either a week or day pop up menu that i can see, so i can't seem to restrict these fields. It's really frustrating as calendars are beginning at 1am!!!!
Anybody got any ideas?

OK, but what did the help menu mean when it said..
To view the day's, week's, or month's events, click the Day, Week, or Month button at the bottom of the iCal window.
To change the days of the week or the number of hours that appear in the main calendar view, choose iCal > Preferences, and make your choices from the Week and Day pop-up menus in the General pane. For example, you can choose to only see the hours from 9AM to 5PM on Monday through Friday.
To change which months are shown in the mini-month calendar (in the lower-left corner of the iCal window), click the arrows above the mini-month calendar. To see more than one month, drag the mini-month divider (the horizontal gray bar above the diamond) upward.
To see events that are earlier or later in the day, use the scroll bar on the right side of the main calendar view.
To change the range of time in the main calendar view that is not shaded (representing your "normal" day), choose iCal > Preferences. In the General pane, choose the times you want to appear in white (not shaded) from the "Day starts at" and "Day ends at" pop-up menus. All times outside that range are shaded.
This suggests that you should be able to limit the hours actually shown on the calendar to a set range as opposed to just changing the shaded area.
Have you any idea how to achieve this, as i don't see the popup menu suggested with...

I have assigned the security profile to HR user responsibility
But when I query the supervisor name in HR User responsibility , it is not restricting me from viewing supervisor details.
When I query for first time, its restricting me to view others details, but when I close that click on torch button and try searching, its allowing me to access manages details.
Can any one please let me know what setups need to be done for restricting employees from viewing supervisors data.
I have gone through the document "Understanding and Using HRMS Security in Oracle HRMS" but didn't got any idea.

How to Restrict a Resp. to Specific Org. in Multi-Org. Setup within an OU

I want to restrict a Responsibility to a specific Inventory Organization in an Operating Unit.
For this purpose, I have defined a Security Profile which restricts the access to that specific Inventory Org. and Operating Unit, and assign the same to the
Responsibility I want to restrict.
The Security Profile is assigned at the Responsibility level using the Profile Option: MO: Security Profile.
Relevant Information:
Application: Oracle Purchasing
Operating Unit: A OU
Inventory Org.: A-1 (Access Allowed only to this Org.)
Inventory Org.: A-2
Inventory Org.: A-3
Profile option: MO: Security Profile
Now, while working in that Responsibility, for example, when I entered a Purchase Order, it’s not restricting me to the Org. assigned through security profile and also showing the other Inventory Orgs’ (in Shipment Tab of PO).
Now please guide me how I can implement this control using this MO: Security Profile or through sum other functionality like: Org Access etc...

This security (also organization access security that is in Inventory) does not work for this screen.
Just personlize this based on your business need. Use the WHEN-VALIDATE-RECORD event in the PO_SHIPMENTS block and use the condition :PO_SHIPMENTS.SHIP_TO_ORGANIZATION_CODE=<<ORG>> then raise an error message using the message as the action.

I have scenario here.
I want to know how to restrict a user(Schema) from deleting the values from a table created in the same schema.
Below is the example.
I have created a table employee in abc schema which has two values.
EMPLOYEE
ABC
XYZ
In the above scenario the abc user can only fire select query on the EMPLOYEE table.
SELECT * FROM EMPLOYEE;
He should not be able to use any other DML commands on that table.
If he uses then Insufficient privileges error should be thrown.
Can anyone please help me out on this.

Once again, it would be simpler, more efficient, more robust and easier to maintain if you just created the table in a different schema, and not give DELETE privileges.

I just saw the previous response, which makes some additional good points (e.g., a user can always TRUNCATE his own tables). ALso, if user ABC applies a security policy to the table, then user ABC can also remove the policy, so if you really want to prevent user ABC from deleting rows, no matter how hard the user tries, then you need to create the policies in a different schema. If you're creating things in a different schema, then you might as well create the table in a different schema.

Hi Gurprit,
A null value is being passed at runtime. Make sure that you enter values when filling in the form.
Also check for the cardinality of the nodes being used. You can also initiliaze your value attributes as follows:
In wdDoInit() method:
wdContext.currentNodeAElement.setValueA("");
Context is as follows:
RootNode
|____NodeA
        |_____ValueA

How to restrict changing password for user ?

We have created users . Users should not change their password without permission of Administrator . How to restrict them by setting Permissions / Authorizations ?

In "USER MAINTENANCE- SU01" --> in the "logon tab" there are 5 different "user type"
1. dialog
2. system
3. communication
4. service
5. reference
Kindly mention the function and role of all the above mentioned user types specifically and hows is one user type different from another.
These are as follows:-
1. Dialogue:-
For this kind of users:-
GUI login is possible.
Initial password and expiration of passowrd are checked.
Multi GUI logins are checked.
Usage:- These are used for GUI logins.
2. System
For this kind of users:-
GUI login is not possible.
Initial password and expiration of passowrd are not checked.
Usage:- These are used for internal use in system like background jobs.
3. Communication
For this kind of users:-
GUI login is not possible.
Users are allowed to change password through some software in middle tier.
Usage:- These are used for login to system through external systems like web application
4. Service
For this kind of users:-
GUI login is possible.
Initial password and expiration of passowrd are not checked.
Multiple logins are allowed.
Users are not allowed to change the password. Only admin can change the password
Usage:- These are used for anonymous users. This type of users should be given minimum authorization.
5. Reference
For this kind of users:-
GUI login is not ible.
Initial password and expiration of passowrd are not checked.
Usage:- These are special kind of users which are used to give authorization to other users.
