Killer k1 lan card

hi i have a killer k1 lan card and have archlinux 2012 with kde install and out of the box the card does not work, so i when to the killers website and all i saw was windows drivers? does this card have linux support? is there any thing in pacman that will make it work?
thanks

Okay, I can give you this one because this was confusing for me at first as a newcomer.  In windows they call them drivers ( I can only assume that this must be because it was more human readable). While with Linux they are named for what they truly are.  They are an extension of the kernel and therefore a kernel module.  So driver and module are somewhat synonymous, though I think a Linux kernel module might be a broader term.
Apparently Barefoot has started using a different chipset from when that thread I mentioned was posted.  In that post it was an atheros.  But your chipset is actually the same as mine (though mine is revision 7).  All you have to do is install the r8168 package and follow the instructions pacman gives you in its output.  Read and follow the output of pacman carefully, else udev will continue to try to use the in-kernel r8169 module.  Maybe this might serve as a lesson for why the output of pacman is improtant.

  • Satellite 2430 wirles-lan card is not supported by windows xp

i have a MPC13A-20/R internal w-lan card in my satellite 2430-201 , and have downloaded and installed the updated driver (wlesslan-xp-7620390) from toshiba.
The hardware is recognized, but will not configure.
windows xp gives me the standard failer article 871122 to read, which is hopelessly uninformative.
I have service pack 2 installed as well as all other available updates, and my BIOS version is V1.3
    what do ya think?

    Hi
MPC13A-20/R wireless card is produced by Agere Systems. Like you can see updated driver that you downloaded is just for wireless card produced by Toshiba. On Toshiba download site there is under company registered Toshiba and version is 7.62.0.390.
In your case you need Agere driver for your wireless card. Please visit producer site and I am sure that there you will find right driver for MPC13A-20/R wireless card.
    Good luck!

  • Will multiple Lan cards cause problems using rmi?

Will multiple Lan cards cause problems using rmi? If a host has two or more network cards (only one of which is Internet-enabled), how does RMI know which IP address to use? There seems to be a problem when such a client registers with an RMI service, and has a client-side callback method invoked by the server.

You can tell RMI the address you want by defining java.rmi.server.hostname at the JVM which exports the remote object.

  • Equium A100 (PSAAQ) LAN Card issue

    Dear All
I am using *Equium A100 (PSAAQ)* laptop for past 3 years. Suddenly it developed a typical kind problem. I am using Vista. The LAN is installed and I was able to access network through it till copule od days back. Now even though LAN card is installed, *loop back test also passes* with good speed but even though the cable is incerted it says *Cable Unplugged*. The same cable is working on other system. I tried to connect another working cable but result is same *"Cable Unplugged"*. If anyone can help me solve this problem.
    Thanks
    Manish

    Dear Jeffrey
Thanks for your reply. I had update of Vista till the 6th of April and after that the LAN card gave this problem. I am connected to network through a 10/100 switch provided by the Internet service provider. The same switch and same port is working for other laptop/desktop in the network. Till last use, network card was working fine. suddenly one fine morning that is 7th April it showed "Cable not connected" warning. I tried all possible ways that is : reconnect, re crimp, change the cable, re install the LAN Card etc, except for reinstalling the OS. One more thing, Initially the cable provided by our network provider was not six core, instead he provided 4 core wire (You know cost cutting for them). The problem came with 4 core wire and now they have provided six core wire even then the problem persist.
    Thanks once again

  • PCI Card Slot - Wireless LAN Card Problems - Help!

    Help.
I'm having problems getting my board to recognize both:
Linksys WMP11 Wireless LAN card; and
    Netgear WG311T Wireless LAN card
(returned the Linksys card, but the Netgear card had the same problem).
Neither card is being picked up by Windows (XP Home), although both the "power" and "link" LED lights up when inserted.  I've tried every PCI slot, same issue.  Nothing shows up in the device manager, and no new hardware is detected.  The Netgear software tells me that the card has not been installed.
Am left thinking I need to RMA the board.  Any suggestions woudl be much appreciated.

    Samsung 120mb SATA 7200rpm
    Pioneer 108D DVD
    Sapphire 9600xt

My roommate has a similar setup as you and I am having the same problem getting a pci wifi card to work in the machine.  I have tried both a Linksys WMP54G and a Netgear WG311. Both cards will scan for networks bit will never connect my router (Linksys WRT54G). Just to get them to recognise the network, I have to turn off WEP, and turn on ESSID broadcast.  Both of these cards work prefect in other computers. I know it not a signal problem because I can take my laptop and set it in the same location and it gets excellent signal.
I have tried changing slots in the machine, the wifi cards were the only PCI cards in the machine and an GeForce 6800 GT in the AGP slot. I have no idea what the problem could be. But I'm leaning towards the mobo at this point.

  • Satelltie M40X: Lan card disappears from device manager

I have a Satellite M40X with Windows XP SP2 and my Lan Card (Realtek gigabit) is no longer seen by Windows (or Linux : test done with a Ubuntu live CD).
The lan card is not seen by Toshiba HW Setup either. I has disappeared 2 days ago, was back yesterday an d is not present today...
LAN card is activated in BIOS.
Can somebody help me to solve this issue ?
The PC is 13 months old (out of Toshiba guaranty....)

Either some registry keys are damage and therefore the LAN card is not visible in device manager (very impossible) or the LAN card is damage (more possible)
I think you should try to reinstall the OS. If after the new installation the LAN card is not visible in the device manager (as unknown device or as LAN card) so its a hardware malfunction and in my opinion only a replacement or reparation will help.

  • JDS fails to detect wireless LAN Card

I've installed JDS on my Dell laptop (Latitude C840). The network works fine with my wired LAN card - 3COM 3C920-TX. However, JDS fails to detect my wireless card - "True Mobile 1150". Any idea?

    Winston:
I would appreciate any info you can provide on how you got the 3com network card to work.
    I have a 3com 3c940 in my ASUS p4p800 and the
    JDS doesn't install it.
3com say the 3c940 is compatible with Linux 2.4 kernel and SuSE, so theoritically Sun should have installed it correctly, not so.
ASUS says I need kernel source installed in
/usr/src/linux - there is no such directory.
The nonexistent manual in Java Desktop certainly doesn't help.
    Any help would be appreciated.
Can I install the latest GCC compiler or do I need to recompile a pile of programs to use it.
I believe the ATI video card needs files and compilers installed, which the default install did not do.
Thanks in advance for all and any help.
New to Linux, like the JDS all except the network issues. Wireless doesn't work and realize it is because a huge company like Cisco, the grand daddy of networking which brought Linksys are not supporting the broadcom chipset. ARGH!!

  • How to install lan card in solaris 11

    Hi,
can some one please tell me how to install lan card in solaris nevada snv_55b X86, 5.11
When i do ifconfig -a it only displays loop back driver only
    lo0: flags=2001000849<UP,LOOPBACK,RUNNING,MULTICAST,IPv4,VIRTUAL> mtu 8232 index 1
    inet 127.0.0.1 netmask ff000000
The other driver was missing can please some one tell me how to install that?

Well, the lan card has to be one that is supported by Solaris and you need to have the proper driver installed before you'll be able to get it running. A good starting point would be to look at the Solaris Hardware Compatability List (HCL) at:
    http://www.oracle.com/webfolder/technetwork/hcl/index.html
There is a blue box which says "Check out the X86 device list" which may be a good place to start. You won't be able to pick out Solaris version you're running for the OS type menu but if you can find the device anywhere you should at least be able to determine which driver it uses so you can check that against your system. If you don't have the driver package installed, you'll have to install it before you can see the device. If course, if the device isn't supported you're stuck. At least the HCL can help you select a new interface card which should work.

  • Driver for 3csoho100b-tx LAN card

I searching desperately for a driver for my 3com 3csoho100b-tx LAN card, I have searched Google and several forums but there doesnt seem to be one available. I know on Linux I can use the tulip driver is there anything similar on Solaris 10??

What happens when you type "ifconfig -a" (while logged in as root to your solaris installation)?

  • LAN card and USB not detected (KM4M-V)

I just formatted my PC yesterday, installing Win XP SP2. But the intergrated LAN card and USB is not detected in device manager. I tried HELP but cannot solve the problem.
I am a little confused. After formatting and installing Windows, the hardwares who don't have driver will be having a question mark icon in the device manager. But for my computer, no USB or LAN card is written in the device manager. How can that be?
I had checked my BIOS and nothing indicated to change the USB or the LAN card.
Where did i go wrong? I am using a MSI KM4M-V motherboard.
    Anyone can help? Thanks.

  • Satellite A - LAN card stopped working

I purchased my A series in April 08 and a few weeks ago the LAN card stopped working. It just won't connect and can't get emails and doesn't connect to any web pages.
Currently have the computer working off wireless but does anyone know how to fix the LAN Card problem.

    Hi!
Which Satellite notebook do you have exactly?
Does the notebook recognize a LAN cable if you plug in it? Is the LAN connection enabled in Windows?
Try to update the LAN driver and the BIOS. Both you can find on the Toshiba website:

  • Windows 7 x64 802.11n Wirless LAN Card #2 Randomly stops working

Hello, I've had a re-occurring issue with my network card over the past 2 weeks, it randomly started after I received a windows update. Often as I'm playing a game / surfing the web I will experience a moment where I lose all connectivity and my wireless
connection is telling me it is "Limited connectivity". Although this happens if I go to my Device Manager and scan for available hardware changes to my network adapters, my Wireless LAN Card adapter disappears, after scanning a couple more times
it will return and I will regain all of my connectivity and the issue will not happen again until I reboot my computer.
I'm not sure how I can fix this as I have opened my computer to check if the network card was loose, and everything seems like it should be working properly. It is also strange that it began occurring after an update.

Download and install the latest Wireless LAN Card driver from the website of the manufacturer.

Turned out that the manufacturer switched websites which must have messed up something with the auto updating, thanks.

  • Windows xp on te2000 cant detect wireless lan card

I have a te2000 laptop the wireless lan card is detected as PCMCIA MTD-0002.
I downloaded the drivers but even after I install windows wont use it. I get error code 10.
How do I make it work ?
The wireless port is enabled but it has an orange light (not green) any ideas why ?
    Thanks in advance
    Ken.

    Thnks Joao for the response.
I downloaded the drivers here but even if I install them Windows doesnt let me use it and there is the yellow question mark in device manger & status is T'his device cannot start. (Code 10)'
If I remove the driver and let windows search for it manually it doesnt get it, so it installs it as pcmcia-mtd-0002.
