Killing apps off the first iPad? is it possible?

I have the first iPad. Is there a way to kill apps running from the first iPad? or am I S.O.L.?

Tap the home button once. Then tap the home button twice and the recents tray will appear at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button twice.
Whether the apps are actually running or not - that is how you can close apps on the iPad running iOS 5.

  • I have the first iPad, and it keeps crashing no matter what program(safari) app (iTunes) or game I use. I check the updates regularly and I'm up to date. Why does it keep crashing and how can I fix it?

I have the first iPad (which is considered ancient). I'll open safari and no matter what I'm searching after a few minutes it crashes (it will close safari and bring me back to the main app screen). The last few days I've been searching song on iTunes, and I have the same issue. It closes my iTunes and brings me to the main app screen.
I have checked my updates and everything is current for this iPad. It's a 64gb iPad with 54gb of available space so I know it's not a storage issue.
Does anyone have some pointers on how to keep it from crashing all the time?

    Try This...
Close All Open Apps...  Perform a Reset... Try again...
Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.

Today I deleted an email services I no longer need. Now when I go to the notes app I no longer have any notes.  Is there any way to get my notes back. I have the first iPad running iOS 5.1.1

Ah, well, then the notes are probably gone. Did you save any of the email from that account on your computer? The notes might be there if you did.

  • I just bought a new iPad and I want to bring over all my apps from my first iPad but I don't have a computer, do I just use the cloud?

I just bought a new iPad and I want to bring over all my apps from my first iPad but I don't have a computer, do I just set up an icloud account and upload all the things from my first iPad and then connect the new iPad to the icloud using the same account and sync it?

No. You configure your new one to use the same Apple ID. Then re-download from iTunes:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • If i have one iPad and I want all the apps that are there how do I copy that so i can have them on another iPad the same way as i have them on the first iPad?

if i have one iPad and I want all the apps that are there how do I copy that so i can have them on another iPad the same way as i have them on the first iPad?

If you want both iPad to be identical .....
Without connecting your iPad to your laptop, start iTunes. Go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices. Check the box next to "Prevent your iPod etc. from automatically syncing." Click OK.
Now connect your iPad to your Mac and start iTunes.
When iTunes starts, right click on your iPad under Devices in the left column. Select Transfer purchases.
After it finishes transferring all your apps to the Mac, right click on your iPad and select Backup your iPad.
Sync the iPad and eject it when it is complete.
    Quit iTunes
    Connect the second iPad.
    Launch iTunes
Right click on the iPad name on the left side and select - Restore from Backup
Select the backup of the first iPad and let it restore from that backup.
When it finishes restoring - sync with iTunes to transfer all of the apps and any other content that you want onto that iPad
Eject the iPad when you are done.
Check the second iPad and if all of the content did not sync as you wanted - or you want to remove some of the content - connect it again and then choose the content that you want - uncheck what you do not want - and click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes.

I have the first iPad but I am not able to download the NCAA march madness app

what happens when you try?  Does the app require a higher version of iOS? If that is the case, you are out of luck as iOS 5.1.1 is the highest for the iPad 1.

  • I had the first ipad now i have the new ipad air where the the picture frame app?

i had the first ipad now i have the new ipad air where the the picture frame app?

Apple iOS designers did away with the Picture Frame slide show app and the lock screen icon that used to activate it.
If you are looking for a replacement, look in the iOS App Store app and search for Picmatic.
This is a pretty good replacement for that function.

    Hi mafiose15,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Restoring your iPod to factory settings is the best way to try and get it back to working order. You can use the instructions below to restore it:
    How to restore iPod
Verify that you have an active Internet connection, because you may need to download new versions of the iTunes and iPod Software.
Download and install the latest version of iTunes if necessary.
Open iTunes. Connect your iPod to your computer using the USB or FireWire cable that came with your iPod.
After a few moments, your iPod will appear in the Source panel in iTunes.
Select your iPod in the Source panel. You will see information about your iPod appear in the Summary tab of the main iTunes window.
    Click Restore.
If you are using a Mac, you will be asked to enter an administrator’s name and password.
A progress bar will appear on the computer screen, indicating that stage one of the restore process has begun. When this stage is done, iTunes will present one of two messages with instructions specific to the iPod model you are restoring.
Disconnect iPod and connect it to iPod Power Adapter (typically applies to older iPod models).
Leave iPod connected to computer to complete restore (typically applies newer iPod models).
During stage two of the restore process, the iPod displays an Apple logo as well as a progress bar at the bottom of the display. It is critical that the iPod remain connected to the computer or iPod power adapter during this stage.
Note: The progress bar may be difficult to see, because the backlight on the iPod display may be off.
After stage two of the restore process is complete, the iTunes Setup Assistant window will appear. It will ask you to name your iPod and choose your syncing preferences, as it did when you connected your iPod for the first time.
You can find the instructions in this article:

    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

  • HT4623 Hi, I do have the first iPad, however had little use of it. I had extended guarranty that ended end of 2012

Hi, I bought the first iPad, complete, with extended guaranty and internet connection.
Services ended in october 2010. Actually I never used the iPad or internet connection.
Had a health treatment ( I used to forget what i did few minutes before) today I am
better , not completly, but much better. I am very upset I could not use services I bought
or iPad, actually Apple can check I did not use iPad at all for two years.
Question, how I can get some chance from Apple, and at least have my free internet connection(one year)
back, that I supose to enjoy during 1 year after purchase and I never did.
Also, now there are new iPads, but I can not afford to buy the new ones today until I get completly recover
and get back to work. What is the difference between the first iPad and the new ones. The only thing I understand
is less is that the old one does not take pictures. Still I really would like to know if I can use this old model normally
and what I do not have in old one that new ones have.
Does Apple Store in Chicago where I got my first iPad change it for new iPad paying a little difference to enjoy
using it, as I never had opportunity to use my first one.
Looking forward for your kind return
    Tzu

The iPad 1 has no camera, a slow processor and low amount of RAM. The iPad 1 can only operate on iOS 5.1.1, whereas, the iPad 2 to current iPads can run iOS 7.x. The newer iPads have faster processors, more RAM and a better display.
Your 1 yer internet opportunity has long ago expired.
Your only option is to sell the iPad and buy a new one.  Apple does not take tradeins.

Hi! I have an iWork '09 installed on my Macbook back in 2009... Now I am planning of buying the new iPad however I would like to know first if I can install the same iWork '09 apps on the new iPad. Hmmm?

You can't use the same Apps as the ones on your MacBook, but you can use the iPad version from the App Store. They are sold separately as Pages, Numbers, and Keynote.
