Kindle app not recognised by amazon?

Kindle on my iPad is not recognised by amazon

You should probably start here on Amazon's site - getting started with the Kindle App on the iPad.

  • Kindle App not working with yosemite

    Hi All.
After I downloaded the new Yosemite. I had a notice that said my free kindle app downloaded from amazon is not supported by Yosemite. I Have lots of books stored in this app and I need to know is this down to Apple to fix or should I complain to Amazon?
Who's responsibilty is it to sort this out?
    Is it Apples or Amazon?
    Thanks.
    Tricia.

I did the upgrade from the App store, but could find no way to launch the Kindle app other than from launchpad.
What I eventually discovered was that that the original version had originally been parked in the incompatible apps folder, and then the update had overwritten that file. I moved it to the Applications folder and all was fine.
What should happen is that the update should  delete the incompatible version and put the working version in the Applications folder with all the other applications.

  • Can anyone tell me how to get my Kindle App not to shut down? I have already uninstalled, reinstalled

I have an HP Touchpad with webOS and love it. I mainly wanted it for reading books from my Kindle account on Amazon. I installed the Kindle App and it has worked perfectly for months, until this week and now every time I open the book I am reading, the a window comes up stating "Application Error, The application Amazon Kindle Beta has quit unexpectedly." I can't even read one page before this happens. I have deregistered my Touchpad and Re-registered it and also uninstalled the Kindle App and reinstalled the Kindle App as an Amazon person suggested I try. This did not fix the problem. He said HP no longer supports the Touchpad, so where does that leave me? The main use of my HP Touchpad was for reading books and now I can't??? HELP.

    Try these:
    1.  Restart the TouchPad.  Use the Device Info app.  Reset Options > Restart.  If that does not work, try
    2.  Deleting the Kindle app, and reinstalling it.
Let us know if you've tried these.  Some folks have issues with the Kindle app, and some (like me) have not.  Unfortunately, there probably won't be a non-"beta" version of this app.

  • Kindle App Not Syncing

Has anyone else out there downloaded the Kindle App and tried to sync it with their Kindle 1?
Mine will not sync between the two devices so I am resorted to writing down the page and finding the location each time I want to read on a different device. To make matters worse, when I began this process I was reading a book that I have finished. I downloaded another book and both devices want to sync to the last page of the final book.
I love this idea of being able to read on my iPhone and Kindle.
Anyone having trouble or have suggestions?

    Hi Busyinatl,
Try resetting the iPhone by holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple logo as described here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305743
Also make sure the iPhone is updated to the latest iPhone software available, currently 2.2.1.
If the issue persists, try contacting Kindle Support via phone or checking their support site.

  • Kindle app not downloading Samples from Amazon

Is anyone else having this problem?
    Thanks,
    Ken

When you click on the "Send Sample" button on the Amazon site, there is a dropdown list just above it. It controls which device the sample is sent to, but it might not be defaulting to your iPad if you have multiple devices or apps. For me, for example, my actual Kindle is the default.
One other point: samples don't go into your archive (archive is for purchases, and these aren't purchased) and so they are only accessible from the device you send them to. If you want the sample on two devices, you need to send it separately to both using the Amazon site.

  • IPhoto (and other apps) not recognising cameras

Usually, I plug in my camera, a Canon application launches, I cancel this, then iPhoto steps in and offers to download my photos.
However, at the moment, neither iPhoto nor the other relevant apps on my MacBook (Bridge, Image Capture, Camera Window) are recognising either of my two cameras.
System Profiler confirms that the camera is present in the USB port, but nothing from any apps.
    Any ideas?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Have you run any updates recently, i.e. just prior to this problem starting?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Notes app not recognising mail account with notes (SL upgrade to ML)

I upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion but all my notes disappeared. I researched this online and realised that now Notes is a separate app. I looked in it but the notes are not there.
I researched futher online and it appears that the email account setup in system preferences needs to have the notes box ticked. I checked this but there is not a note box against the email address. see screen capture below.
this is a POP mail account and presumably the account that all my notes are associated with.
I found the notes.mbox file in my SL backup and imported this into email so I have a copy of the notes but I can't edit any of them.
Any ideas - what I need to do to resolve this.
    thanks.

    I resolved this by
Deleting all copies of com.apple.notes apart from the help files.
    Repairing the disk permissions
switching on notes on my iphone and in mail accounts
    restarted macbook
    launched mail app
    launched notes app.
This brought in all my notes which are synced with my iphone.
This was a combination of several different solutions from different posts on this forum.

  • TS3991 In setting up ituns, all 0f my kindle books were  lost and I am not allowed to open the kindle app. How do I fix this?

In setting up my IPAD,all of my Kindle books were lost and I am not allowed to access them. They do not appear on my cloud either. How do I fix this?

iCloud doesn't sync books so you wouldn't find them in your iCloud account.  I don't use Kindle but it looks like you can redownload you purchased books from the Kindle app.  See "Book was accidentally deleted from the Kindle app" here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html/ref=help_search_1-2?ie=UTF8& nodeId=200438490&qid=1349822479&sr=1-2.

  • I purchased a book at Amazon and clicked kindlecloud because I didn't see ipad option.  How do I get my purchase to my kindle app?

I purchased a book on Amazon and clicked it onto kindlecloud because I didn't see an ipad option.  How do I get my book to my kindle app?

Log into Amazon.com again. Click or tap on Your Account at the top and sign in. Then go down to Digital Content and click or tap on Manage Your Kindle under the Digital Management heading. That will take you to a screen where all of your Purchased Kindle books are listed. Tap on the Actions Button on the right next to the book that you want to download and select - Deliver to my - and then select - Your iPad Name -  in that pop up window. The book will be delivered to the Kindle app.
You have to allow the book to sync to the app. It can a minute or so. Tap on Device in the Kindle app and the book should be there.

  • I have ordered a book from Amazon.co.uk for my Kindle app for the iPad, but it is not showing up in the app. Help!?

All is explained in the question.

Is the Kindle app on your iPad linked to the same Amazon account that you used to buy the book, and does it not show in the Cloud section of the app for downloading ?

There were no results for I've downloaded the kindle app to my new iPad4 but when I went to Amazon UK and tried to download a book it said "this mobile app does not currently support digital downloads. I don't understand! I was told you could download kindle books from amazon straight to iPad if you download the kindle app first. Do I have to do it onto my computer and then sync it onto iPad? surely not?

  • IPad 1 and Amazon Kindle App worked, but not after reset

The Amazon Kindle App worked on my iPad 1 until I did a reset to give the iPad to a friend after buying the iPad Air.  The Kindle App had been working with the current version of the OS.  Now when my friend tries to install the Kindle App, it indicates that the current Kindle App doesn't work with the current OS and says that it is downloading an earlier version.  Then it blows up and doesn't download.  Interesting that the Amazon Shopping App does the same thing.
In talking with Amazon customer support, they indicate that the problem is with Apple.  They sent a long email indicating how it should work.  Sadly it doesn't.  The older version should be installed.
When a problem exists between Amazon and Apple where does one go?  Pointing fingers at the other seems to be the answer.
All I know is that the Kindle App was working on the 3 year old iPad before I did a reset and now I can't download it.  The App Store needs to be fixed or the Kindle App needs to be fixed.  Help please.

One would presume that, if what you were told was true, Amazon has reported this problem to Apple and that Apple is working on a correction.
Perhaps this wil be corrected soon.
