Kindle books to iPad

How can I transfer books from my 2nd gen. Kindle to my iPad (3rd gen)?
Read terrible things about the latest Kindle app.

You manage your Kindle content in your amazon.com account in a web browser. Go to Amazon.com, log into your account and then click on manage Kindle content. You can send your Kindle purchases to the iPad in the Kindle app.

Get the Kindle app from the App Store, sign in to your Kindle account, and all your books will be there. Not sure if you actually have to download them first, but there you go.

  • Kindle books on ipad

I have a kindle book on my pc/USB that I want to download and read on my ipad mini.  It will not download?  I have downloaded the kindle app to my ipad and cloud.

The Kindle app on your iPad should have an email address associated with it (tap the icon at the bottom right of the app to see what it is) - you could try attaching it and emailing it to that email address and it might show in the app (it might take a a few minutes for it to appear, or for you to get a 'failure' email).

  • Buying Kindle books on iPad

It must be easy but I can't find out how to buy Kindle books using my iPad. I'm aware that Apple forced Amazon to stop selling them to me through the iPad.  Thanks!

@Panadsurprse -- Thanks for the expanded answer! I usually read books on my Kindle device (better screen for daylight hours and battery life is awesomely long, unlike ipods, ipads or phones), but I could've sworn I'd bought them through my iPod Kindle app before (for lit-up screen reading in bed), so I assumed I was just being obtuse and overlooking something obvious when I couldn't find a Kindle Store link within the app or a "buy book" button at the end of sample chapters I liked. I guess I must have been reading samples I downloaded a long, loooong time ago, previous to this change. Thanks again, :)
[P.S. i like your screen name -- can't tell if you were being purposely tricky, but I love how I just assumed it said "Panda Surprise" the first time I looked and then had to look again to see it wasn't Panda and still a third time when I typed my message to spell the "surprse" right! Reminds me of those studies showing that often people only need to see a few key letters in a word to know what word it is, and if reading fast, they may not even notice if the leretts in the mdidle are srcmabled as long as the frist and lsat letrets are in the cerroct potision. ;) Cheers!

  • Kindle books from ipad to macbook pro where are you?

i was syncing my ipad to my macbook pro and it asked if i wanted to send purchases to the computer.  i said yes and all the books i purchased from apple showed up in my itunes library but all the kindle books i had bought on my ipad through amazon disappeared along with Skype, some Newstand items and games I had purchased.  did apple seriously hijack my stuff?

Kindle books are linked to your Amazon account, and don't copy over to iTunes on your computer (mine never have anyway). If you want them on your computer then you can download the Kindle for Mac program and download them in that.
Apps/games that you've bought from Apple can be re-downloaded for free

  • Can't download kindle book to ipad 2

I downloaded the most recent kindle app from iTunes (2.85, I think).  I followed the instructions: tap on Archives and choose book to download.  However, when I did this, I got an error message indicating that I need an update to kindle app and am referred to the iTunes store!  Has anyone else had this issue and if so, what do I do?  Thanks!

    Dave,
Thanks for the URL.  I ended up exchanging a few email messages with Amazon people.  That didn't help so I was connected by phone to an Amazon support person in the US.  It's unfortunate, but the very first Kindle book I tried to download was a gift, and the gift giver didn't realize that he had chosen a Kindle book that can only be read using the Kindle apps for PC or Mac.  Unfortunately, my Mac operating system is too old (and who wants to read a book on a computer anyway?!).  So apparently there's nothing wrong with my iPad 2 or the Kindle app--I hope, anyway!  In any case, I've learned to be careful about ordering Kindle books!
    Thanks again,
    Xilan

  • Transferring Kindle books from iPad 1st Gen to iPad mini.

I have lots of books on my 1st Gen iPad in the Kindle App. I now own an iPad Mini. How do I transfer the previous purchases from 1st Gen iPad to the Mini?

  • Syncing Kindle Books to iPad

I bought a book by John Ringo that had a DVD that contained all his books. I copied the DVD (which is allowed by the license) to my MacBook Pro. The books are in several formats including the one use by Kindle. Downloaded the Kindle app to my Macbook, added the books to my Kindle library and it works fine. Just got my iPad and want to load the books onto it. However, the Kindle does not sync the books. I assume that it will only sync books purchased from the Kindle store. The question is how to I get these onto my iPad.

I know this is a bit after the event and you may have a solution, but I just came across this when I was trying to figure out the same sort of thing - kindle-formatted ebooks (legal!) that I had on my PC.
It works via Dropbox. What you do is copy the files from your Kindle content folder on your PC to the  Dropbox folder there and then open Dropbox on your iPad. You then try to open each file in Dropbox and will be told it can't open it, but in the top right, there's the icon for Open With and you'll find the Kindle app shown when you select it. Open in Kindle, the file will be sync'd to your Kindle library and you can then delete it from your Dropbox folder.
It will then exist separately on the iPad and your PC, so bookmarks, etc., won't be syn'd between them, but it will at least be readable.

  • Kindle books and iPad upgrade

I am about to upgrade the software and update my iPad and it has warned me that some purchases made on the iPad are not in iTunes, I assume it's some books I bought from the Kindle store. Is there any way I can transfer these over to iTunes?

books you purchase from kindle are stored in your kindle account, not the ipad. the purchases it's warning you about are purchases made through the itunes store, either apps, music, videos.
before upgrading make sure you sync your ipad and then right click on the ipad in itunes and choose "backup"

  • IBooks & Kindle - Book "disk size"

    Hello all.
I am planning to get an iPad very very soon but am not sure whether to get the 16Gb or the 32Gb. One of my primary usage of the iPad would be reading eBooks.
I am assuming that syncing all or selected eBooks from iBooks from iTunes to the iPad, is like syncing music and other media.
Can anyone tell me *what is the average size of an eBook from iBooks?* EG like the "Twilight" novel.
*Does the Kindle Books on iPad has about the same disk/file size per eBook??*
    Thanks and cheers

The average size for a Kindle book varies, and most that I have are in the high to mid hundred kb range (400-800kb), though I do have some textbooks and other image heavy books (graphs, charts as images) in the ~3mb range. One outlier is a textbook which is 22mb. I have both a Kindle 1 (2007) and Kindle 2 and have never run out of space on either (the K1 took an SD card, so under 8gb; and the K2 has 2gb).
I don't have a good gauge for the difference between azw/mobi/prc and epub sizes - the only book I have in both ePub & mobi formats differs by 2mb (ePub's 6.5mb, kindle 4.4mb).
I would assume that the Kindle files are the same between the Kindle for iPad/iPod and the actual Kindle device, because one is able to sync between the various devices. I know for a fact that the files are the same between the Kindle for PC and actual Kindle device.

  • I select my Ipad under devices in itunes, go to apps that support file sharing, select kindle but none of the kindle book files on my ipad appear under kindle documents

I want to copy books I've purchased for Nook and for Kindle from my Ipad to my laptop.  In Itunes I select the Ipad under devices, select apps at the top of the screen and scroll to file sharing apps.  When I select the kindle app or the nook app nothing appears under the documents window.

You can't do it via File Sharing, those two stores don't support the copying of your Kindle/Nook purchases off their apps via file sharing.
If you want your Kindle book on your laptop then you could download the Kindle app from Amazon and download the books directly in it : Kindle apps.
    I don't think that Nook have a PC/Mac app
