Kindle fire hd is not recognized by my macbook pro 10.6.8

Can anyone tell me if this is an apple issue and if so what I can do to remedy this so I can use a kindle fire.

Yeah - you are going to need to contact Amazon Kindle support. It is their software and their device that you are needing help with....

New hard drive is not recognized by my MacBook Pro. The supplier says I need to update my BIOS. True? How do I do that?

Mac OS: Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5

I went through a similar issue with a Seagate Momentus 750GB HDD/8GB SSD with my late-2011 MBP.  No matter what I tried, the machine would not recognize the drive.
To test it, I installed the drive in an old ThinkPad, and it worked fine.  Then I tried installing it in my PS3, and the drive worked fine there, too.  It was only the MBP which had issues.
I don't *think* Macs have a BIOS to update.  But I know my MBP has issues with certain HDD's (including another external which works fine on other Macs and all Windows machines).
You might be able to find my thread by searching under my username, perhaps something in there will offer a tip.  Otherwise, you might have to go the same route I did: install a WD Scorpio Black instead.  Or upgrade to an SSD.
    Good luck to you-

Zap the PRAM and Reset the SMC, then try again. If the problem remains, update to 10.6.8 and repeat.

  • Dear Community - Please Help.  iPod Touch 4th Generation Not Recognized Suddenly on Macbook Pro

    Hello all,
Just today my iPod Touch is not being recognized by my macbook pro - OSX Mountain Lion.  Literally was working yesterday.
I have tried all the suggestions and trouble shooting and have scoured these community pages for an answer trying everything...
         - Restart and Shutdown the Macbook
         - Reset iPod - even did a full reset (didn't have a ton of content on there - no biggie)
         - Checked the five cords i have with my iPad and the USB ports on the macbook and all work with the iPad no problem
         - etc...
The iPod DOES charge no problem with the wall adaptor, so the input on the iPod itself is fine... and the iPod functions and Apps are working perfectly, it just won't be recognized by the computer.
    What can I do here????
Very puzzled and stressed as I need to load it up with music for tomorrow!

There was a reply here that I have been trying and now the reply is not in this discussion...
Is there anything else that anyone could suggest...

  • My iPhone 5c is not recognized by my MacBook Pro or iTunes even though my software and hardware is up to date?

Even though my software and hardware is up to date my new iPhone 5c is not recognized by my computer or itunes, it does not even load or show up on my desktop.  Is anyone else having this problem?
I'm afraid it may be related to activating the phone in the store earlier today and not having my computer on hand?

    Hi, akp2585.
If your Mac is running OS X v10.6.8 or later and iTunes version 11.1 or later, here is a troubleshooting article that you may find helpful.

  • IPod 30 GB not recognized by new MacBook Pro

I have a 30 GB iPod (bought it in December 2006) and used to use it with my Powerbook G4. I upgraded the G4 with Tiger (originally it had jaguar) so I could download iTunes 7 so my new iPod would work with my old G4. Everything worked fine.
Now I have a new MacBook Pro with Tiger and iTunes 7.1. My iPod will not be recognized by the MBP. I plug it into the USB and the iPod says "do not disconnect," but the battery does not show that it is charging. Also, iTunes does not pick up the iPod and the little iPod icon does not show up on the desktop as it did on the G4. Therefore, there is now way I can properly "eject" the iPod, so I have to pull the plug. It freezes with the "do not disconnect" appearing, until I reset the iPod.
What is going on with my new MacBook Pro?
    Thanks!

This is not resolved. I hope to get the official working solution.
I reinstalled os x on new hard drive. I have no music on my ibook now, but it's still on my ipod (and on my portable storage) categorized into playlists. I also have some podcasts and files only on my ipod. The new HD is not reading my ipod (I imagine it can only be read by the old HD that doesn't exit anymore). I did not save any itunes system files to my storage drive. How can I sync my old ipod with the new HD and keep all the music that's already on the ipod?

  • Apple TV not recognizing with 2011 Macbook Pro? Try this, possible fix!!!

Ok so we all know there is compatibility issues with previous devices working with the brand new MBP notebooks. One device especially are Blackberry phones, they just do not work because the software used on them was designed around 32bit OS. Now with the new Macbook Pro computers they run a complete 64Bit OS and it is up to everyone even Apple to update their software to work with it (you are going to wait a bit because it does take time to develop working products!). So let's try this, and please give feedback if this works or not because I am curious if it is as simple as this:
(By the way this will ABSOLUTELY work for your Blackberry not being recognized by brand new MBP notebooks!)
    -Shut down the computer
-When the computer is shut down hold down the number keys "3" + "2".
-While holding those keys press the power button just to turn on the computer and KEEP HOLDING the keys until the Apple Logo and spinning gear is gone.
-Congrats you have now booted up into 32Bit mode for OS X 10.6! Yay.
Now try to synch with Apple TV. Hopefully it is as simple as this otherwise a lot of people are having a whole lot of networking issues! I honestly think this may resolve your issue as I read that a lot of people can still view the Apple TV on their old computers but just not their new ones :X Good luck!

I am not having the issue, this was a general post to try to potentially help people that are experiencing this issue. Just from experience and deducing from some of the posts I have read about the issue this seemed like the logical first step to fixing the issue. Most likely it is not IPv6 because IPv4 is still the default IP address, most router will only use IPv4 currently. And I can still see my Apple TV with IPv6 enabled .
Turning IPv6 off would honestly have no effect on this issue just because they most likely are already connected to the internet and browsing they just cannot connect to their Apple TV. But thanks for yur response!

  • 4th Gen iPod Shuffle, not recognized by my Macbook Pro

  • External HDD not recognized by Retina MacBook Pro

I recently bought this external HDD (http://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Backup-Desktop-External-STCA1000100/dp/B00829THK0/ ref=dp_ob_title_ce) to backup with my new retina macbook pro. It uses usb 3.0 and if I am not mistaken, the usb ports on the new macbook pro are usb 3.0.
I plug the hard drive into the wall and then into my computer. It spins and there is a light on, so I know it is powered on. Nothing shows up in finder and nothing shows up in disk utility. The box says it is compatible with macs and it works with other Macs that are not my own.
Has anyoher else had this problem? Do all usb 3.0 periphrals work with the new macbook, or only Apple's?
    Please help

I had some luck with these terminal commands. The drive mounted and showed the right speed in System Profiler. I recommend copying and pasting the commands into the terminal if you're not comfortable there.
    sudo mv /System/Library/Extensions/PXHCD.kext /System/Library/Extensions/PXHCD.kext.not
    sudo touch /System/Library/Extensions
Reboot the system after running these commands.
I had migrated from my previous machine and had this problem. I restored it, and it worked fine. I put everything back on and started isolating. This extension seems to be from when I had installed LaCie drivers on the old machine.

  • Apple password not recognized on new macbook pro

I just bought a new macbook pro and used my time machine disk. All went fine until a message appeared that a device was incorrectly ejected. I clicked the message away and the transfer seemed to continue althpugh it suddenly needed twice the time as before the message. At a certain stage it asked for my apple password (as used o  my old machine which i was tranferring to the new one) but Now it doesnt accept my apple password anymore so i  am stuck!! I am sure the password is correct.  This thing is extra cruel as i had to buy the new one abroad after i was robbed at the airport. Luckily i always travel with my harddisk with backups from time machine but despit this i cant use my new macbook pro because of the above trouble. Anybody any suggestion? Please help!

I really wish that was true. I am using the same password for about 10 years already (not smart i know bur at least i always am sure that it is correct). A thought i had was that caps lock or something similar was activated. Caps lock is easy to check but maybe somebody knows if ther are other settings that accidentily might have been active? And how those can be undone?

  • IPhone not recognized on new MacBook Pro

Just got one of the new MacBook Pro laptops and so far my iPhone no longer shows up in iTunes. It used to launch iTunes automatically when I plugged it in and would sync. All the settings remain the same after migration, and I've checked by hand, but restarting phone, restarting iTunes... using the other USB... nothing seems to work. I cannot force a sync if my phone doesn't even show up! I have my iPhone backups listed from before migration but that doesn't help me at all when the device isn't recognized. Tips?
    Thanks in advance!

i just got one of the new i5 macbook pro's - i immediately ran a software update to make sure i had all the latest drivers and os stuff - i have had no problem with it recognizing my iPhone - in fact it recognizes it about 5 times faster than my old windows machine

  • IPod Nano not recognized on my MacBook Pro

I want to recharge my iPod - works fine on my 24" iMac, but on the laptop - it's not being recognized... it doesn't even show up on the desktop!
    and - it's not charging...
    help?!
    thanks!

For whatever reason, this is happening to me as well. I'm suspecting something happened in the 10.5.1 update--this is the first time I've gone to charge since then. All was fine before with 10.5.
