Kindle fire skype freezes

Recently when I have skyped, after about 10 minutes my Kindle fire freezes. No controls work, and after about 2-3minutes, my Kindle fire shuts down. I have had this tablet for about 18 months - no problems until about 4 weeks ago when this freezing started. And today, Netflix, BBC iPlayer and Amazon Instant Video have stopped working. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This would be Hardware/Device Issue. If device reset fixes the problem temporary, good to contact them as it affects more than Skype app.

Kindle Fire - Skype won't sign in

Hi hope someone can help, I sideloaded Skype to my kindle fire and installed it, however, it just keeps saying 'signing in' and nothing else happens. I only want voice calls, so the video is immaterial. If some kind soul could give me some advice I would be very grateful.

Try to reset all Skype settings.
Quit Skype or use Windows Task Manager to kill any Skype.exe process. Go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %appdata% and then press Enter or click the OK button. The Windows File Explorer will pop up. There locate a folder named “Skype”. Rename this folder to something different, e.g. Skype_old.
Next go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %temp%\skype and then press Enter or click the OK button. Delete the DbTemp folder.
Restart Skype.
N.B. If needed, you will still be able to re-establish your call and chat history. All data is still saved in the Skype_old folder.

Kindle Fire skype sign-in

Purchased a Kindle Fire Hd and have free skype installed, but when I feel in the sign in part and it comes to the phone number it will not take my phone number. It keeps asking for country code. Help please. Amazon tells me it is a skype issue.

Skype on kindle fire is so frustrating! Why, Amazon, provide Skype when it does not work simply? Also, why should customers be forced into opening a Microsoft account? I regret buying kindle fire instead of a real tablet.

Currently you can't selectively delete chat history on Skype for Kindle Fire HD. Only way to get rid of the complete history (together with all settings) is uninstalling and reinstalling the Skype app, I'm afraid.

Possible Bug in Skype Kindle Fire HD

After a recent upgrade to Skype, it has stopped detecting the # key press while in call mode. In some IVR numbers I have to press the # key to make my choices during the call.
I have checked the same with the Skype app on my other Android phones, it is working fine. Looks like this issue is with Kindle Fire HD only.
Anybody faced this issue? any fix in the pipeline?

Kindle fire hd 8.9 and skype quality

How is the video quality for skype on kindle fire hd 8.9

Not good for me. Although I have the 7" and have only tested one case. Everyone had great wi-fi connection and the same conversation on Facetime looked well. But the video call between my Kindle Fire HD and an iPad on the other end wasn't good. The conversation crashed every 3 minutes and app broke (sent me to home). And the video quality was poor. Audio was fine but somewhat delayed. Tried re-installing Skype and had the same issues. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

When I use Skype on my Kindle Fire HDX 7" I get really good calls when it comes to audio calls. When it comes to video calling though, the sound is excllent as well as the video quality, but the video is 3-4 seconds delayed in contrast to the sound received. This happens only on my end. The other person can see me and listen to me well and in synch. I tried calling amazon throught their video help. The video looked fine and I had no issues with that. So I guess it has something to do with Skype as an application.

Wait for a fix from Apple or Skype.

Skype and Kindle Fire HD

The Skype app came installed with my new KFHD. I logged into Skype with no problems. However, I also use Skype on my tv through my home pc. Since I am using the same account (my shortsightedness) I would like to create a new account for the KFHD. I cannot uninstall the app from my KFHD but is there any way to remove the account info and create a new account?

Im looking at how to fix this on Skype as this is my main device for using Skype and its useless if we cant hear each other!! Im confused why all other music and apps volume is nice and loud but wont work on Skype .

Kindle Fire HD and Skype recent update

Ever since the update on 11-28-12 I have a difficult time hearing my caller and my caller is having difficulty hearing me with the volume turned all the way up. Its not just on the Kindle its on my Sony TV and my son's MacPro. Anyone else experiencing this?

Skype isn't pre-installed on my kindle fire HD and...

Well just as the title says. I've tried both skyper versions and both are incompatible. Apparently it's pre-installed but when I checked my wasn't.

Which 7" Kindle Fire are you using?
I had no problems getting Skype up and running on my 7" Kindle Fire HDX. This came as a pleasant surprise. The specs for the 7" Fire HDX make no reference to any microphone but one is there somewhere!
To get the right version go to the Amazon App store and search for Skype. Tap install and it should be up and running within seconds. Enter your Skype account name and password, and you should have your all you contacts etc., ready for use. Use the Skype test call to check everything out to get the pleasant surprise of hearing your own voice.
The one thing that I had to do after this was to re-initialise my Kindle as Silk promptly hung. No great surprise this as Silk does seem to be a bit unstable.

Did all that and more. Reset to factory defaults on the advise of their techs. Stripped all other apps and Skype worked fine for two weeks. As soon as I installed Mapquest, Skype started crashing again. Removed Mapquest, still crashes. The problem is that the longer Skype is installed on a kindle, the more problems show up. I have been dealing with Amazon on this for two months and their only solution is to replace the unit, a move I don't believe will solve the problem. This is an OS and software conflict problem I believe. If anyone has had a Kindle Fire HD work for months without Skype problems, I would love to hear it, because as of yet I have not seen a single report of that being the case.

I was reading a few comments about not getting skype to work on kindle hd/fire, as i had the same problem, but no more, its all working great now, what i was doing wrong was going through the web, then tried to download skype that way and yes it wouldnt show contacts, but then i banged my head and decided to go to the app store, then typed skype and when it came up you just haveto do it press download, this is free, wait until its downloaded and your all done, so everytime you want to skype go through your apps each time, im not that good with laptops, kindles etc but iworked it out, good luck xx

Kindle Fire and International Skype

Yes please - I want to know if there is an app to skype with my Kindle Fire - it is the only electronic gadget I will be taking on vacation to Vietnam, Laos, Thailand & Cambodia in Dec. 2011.
I know the Kindle fire doesn't have a camera but I am ok with that, just want to text and or call a mobile that is in the USA.

Sync Skype acct on laptop with Kindle Fire

I'm using Skype through Facebook on my laptop. I would like to add the same account and contacts on my Kindle Fire. Right now, I have two accts, one on each, but I'd like to sync them up. Any ideas?

No audio on Skype on my Kindle Fire HD 8.9"

When participating in a Skype video call, I am not receiving any audio on my KFHD. My audio works fine in all other programs. Actually, I can just verily hear the audio... kind of like having your sound come through your headphones without putting your headphones on (or in) your ears.
I had Amazon Tech Support troubleshoot the problem with me and they were dumbfounded, just am I! So, they referred me to the Skype website for assistance.
Any suggestions? Thanks!!
