  • On a kindle fire, there is no menu icon or settings icon, how do I get to settings

I have a kindle fire tablet, 8.9 hd. Just downloaded aurora and there is no apparent way to go to settings. When I tap the icon on aurora all it shows is " share", there is not a device menu icon on this screen, how do I get to settings?

    Hi bluesky4me,
Sometimes Aurora will include a menu icon near the top-right of the screen - it will look like three vertical dots. If you tap that, settings should be right in there - though you may to scroll down a little to see them.
If you don't see the three dots button, then Aurora has detected that there is a (physical or virtual) device menu button.
On Kindles, I believe the button is in the black bar at the bottom of the screen. If the bar is hidden, you can swipe up to see it.
There's more info in your device manual (pages 8 and 9)

  • Kindle Fire and Uverse App Update to new version

I use my Kindle Fire to watch live TV from my office up until this last week.  Apparently Uverse did an app update and now the current version is not compatible.  When I search for the updated App in the App store the only option now is the Kids Uverse version.  When I click on the link from Uverse.com, the app says it is incompatible and cannot download.  Is there a Kindle Fire version or a way to update the old one so it will work?

Kindle is Android compatible , so you should be able to side load the Uverse app from 1mobile market.   http://www.1mobile.com/at-t-u-verse-130810.html  Otherwise you will have to wait for Amazon Store to update their Uverse version.

  • Amazon Kindle Fire Content Viewer App Update

  • Sound not working after Kindle Fire HD update.

Skype 2.x on the Kindle Fire HD was great.  A little buggy, but it worked very well overall.
I just received an involunatry update of Skype, to version 3.x, and now the app has a host of problems, the worst of which is that the sound during calls is too soft to be useable.
This applies to both the sound on both ends of the call.  I can barely hear the people I am calling, and they can barely hear me.
    The application is now unuseable.

    For aibcje
    1. To delete the app, hold your finger down on the skype icon until it comes up with various options, then click on "remove from device"
    2. Click on "Apps" at the top of the main front screen.
    3. Now at the top of the screen you will see a button marked "Cloud" and "Device", press the "Cloud" icon and you should get to a page load of icons, with ticks in the corner.
    4. Scroll through until you see the skype icon and click on it.
    5. Now register with your old user name and password and you should be back up and running with the preinstalled version of skype.

  • How do I add a whitelist on AirPort Utility to connect a Kindle Fire?

All of a sudden my daughter's Kindle Fire says it has no wireless connection even though I have the name and password entered correctly. Is this some type of update on the Kindle side? The Kindle tells me (when I tap on the connected wifi name for my computer) signal strength is excellent, status is connected, shows my security with a WPA and additional codes. I have been reading that there is a whitelist I can add devices too but am so illiterate on my MAC that I cannot find it or where to go...my apologies. What do I/ should I do? I am confused as to why I see the Kindle and my computer are connected to wifi but then I receive an error message. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

There isn't a whitelist, per se, on the AirPort routers. Instead there is a means to prevent a wireless device from accessing the AirPort by its hardware MAC address. Unless you have enabled this feature, via the AirPort Utility, all wireless devices should be able to connect.
One area to look at as a possible cause, is the Network Name (aka SSID) that you are using for your AirPort's Wi-Fi network. If it contains special characters or spaces, you may want to consider changing it to something that has neither to see if this helps.

  • How do you download the Adobe Contents Viewer to a Kindle Fire?

Trying to view a folio created in InDesign 5.5 on a Kindle Fire. I downloaded Adobe Contents Viewer and it gives me this error: This issue is available for download, but requires a newer version of the ap Adobe Content. Please update your app from the Android Market. I tried downloading it from Android Market but it still gives me the same error.

  • SDK component Runtime.apk is out of date export captive build for Kindle Fire

    Hello
Kindle fire only supports AIR 2.7 and I'm trying to export a build release in Flash Builder 4.7 with the AIR runtime included (captive build). Whenever I build I get the following error:
SDK component at air/android/device/Runtime.apk is out of date
I tried running the updater and it said I'm up to date. I did download the SDK and put it in my home folder but I can't seem to change the SDK reference in the preferences.
(I had another java out of memory error including my ANE file but I turned it off just to get a build out. Not the focus of this discussion)
It would be nice if flash builder just let me reference my freshly downloaded SDK but instead I have to sift through their document structure guessing where I should be updating the Runtime.apk that SHOULD be up to date already.
I have had to go in to the package itself and modify the ini files and over-write the adb files from the fresh download of the SDK before.
I'm guessing there is a way to update the Runtime.apk but i have so many bin executables spread all of my computer it's hard to tell what flash builder wants!!!
There is always one problem after another developing with Flash Builder ... Please help.

Just be sure you've downloaded the correct AIR 3.6 SDK specific to Flash Builder! On this page: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/air/air-sdk-download.html in small print is this note:
Note : Flex users will need to download the original AIR SDK without the new compiler. Mac Windows.
Be sure to install the appropriate sdk if you're using Flex in your mobile project. Otherwise the main download will work with ActionScript only projects in Flash Builder 4.7
Can you confirm you installed the correct SDK? Also with ANEs, it's important to identify what version of AIR the ANE supports.
If you still run into trouble with your current configuration, try building a new mobile project and export release build with captive runtime and see if it compiles correctly. If it does, then it's going to be a problem with your current project, and I'd look at how the ANE is packaged. See if there's documentation on how to include the ANE, etc. If you still can't compile a blank mobile project, then your AIR installation is incorrect.

  • What version of flash for kindle fire hd

I am trying to download flash for my kindle fire he. there are several versions to choose from, which one for my kindle?

Adobe Flash does not work  the Kindle Fire HD or any Android v4+ devices.  Amazon blames it on Adobe and Adobe blames it on uncertified devices (
http://blogs.adobe.com/flashplayer/2012/06/flash-player-and-android-update.html).  There are lots of comments and instructions for sideloads of previous browser versions in the cyber universe.  But, alas,  loyal users of flash and amazon just get left out in the cold.

  • Why does OS X Yosemite not recognize my Kindle Fire HD?

I recently upgraded to the OS X Yosemite on my MacBook Pro 13"  and I love this new operating system. It's so sleek!
However, I noticed that when I connected my Kindle Fire HD through USB connection to my Mac, my Kindle wasn't recognised.
Andriod File Transfer did recognise the Kindle but I cannot transfer any files. Therefore, it is only offering information what I currently have on my Kindle.
I assume this a problem with OS X Yosemite and can anyone offer me any help on this matter?

OK, apologies, the answer is simple, but easily forgotten because it's so long since I had to do this!  Just go to https://www.android.com/filetransfer/ and download and run the Android File Transfer utility and your Kindle will appear on your desktop immediately, assuming you are using a suitable cable.
I think this is an issue only because you have to do it once-only, and then everything runs smoothly, which means that you have long enough to forget it between whenever you update your OS.
Don't know about the rest of you, but I'd rather get on with using my Mac than fiddle with my OS, so this was an unexpected hurdle. Hope this helps somebody other than me!

  • Connecting to Kindle Fire via hotspot

Anyone else having trouble connecting their Kindle Fire to your iphone 4 hotspot?  Please help me if you have any idea what I am doing wrong.

        Happy day to you misterf,
What better networkk to enjoy your Kindle Fire on than the largest, most reliable wireless network, Verizon Wireless. I know that you are super excited to download the latest books and periodicals on your Fire. I am honored to be the one to assist you with connecting to your iPhone 4 mobile hotspot. May I ask have you use the hotspot in the past on other devices? If so then here's a link on how to connect the Kindle Fire.
    http://amzn.to/sNV33h
If you have not used the mobile hotspot feature on your iPhone 4 before then we may need to provision your account for this service. The cost for this service will greatly depend on your calling plan. for example, if you have the Share everything plan then this amazing feature is built into you calling plan. As you test the steps in the link above, please keep the community updated as your experience may help another in the future. As always, if this doesn't resolve your issue then I am here to continue to assist.
    Thank you...

  • Kindle Fire Splash Screen

    The recomendation from: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/900/cpsid_90052.html
says to use 1280x 800 and 800 x 1280 for android and amazon devices. Wouldn't it make sense for the kindle fire to have 1024x600 and 600x1024 resolutions for the spalsh screens?

    A word of caution:
the Amazon Appstore checks for Kindle Fire support AFTER it accepts app updates.  So a developer can unknowingly break KF support, and still get app updates accepted into the store!
Here is an e-mail I just sent to Amazon's KF team:
FYI, there is a significant loophole in your submission pipeline:
    1) All my apps use Adobe AIR.
    2) For the longest time, they were all compiled with AIR 2.7 so there was no problem.  I got a bunch of downloads, including from Kindle Fire users.
    3) A week ago, I updated most of my apps to AIR 3.1, and broke Kindle Fire support, without my realizing it, because I didn't know that the KF only supports AIR 2.7.  Unfortunately, all the updates with broken KF support were accepted into the store!!!
    4) Now I am getting users complaining that their apps no longer work on Kindle Fire.
What should have happened: NONE of the updates should have been accepted after it was realized by your review team that they broke Kindle Fire support, while previous versions worked fine on it and KF users downloaded them.  Reviewing KF support separately, after the initial review/acceptance, is not a good process!
In any case, I have re-submitted all my apps with the release note 'Restored Kindle Fire support'.  What I did was use 'captive runtime' for compiling all my AIR 3.1 apps, which normally means that the app will not require an external AIR runtime to function.  Hopefully, this will work this time.  If not, I am going to have to re-compile everything using AIR 2.7, which is a major drag since some of the features I depended on are part of AIR 3.1.

  • Kindle Fire $50 Trade in Denied

I tried trading in my Kindle Fire (1st Gen) at the Fenway, MA store (#804) for the Samsung $50 promotion.
Customer service officer had no idea of the promotion so I had to show him the website. He later denied me saying that the Kindle Fire is not a tablet but an ereader and is only eligible for a trade in value of $2.
Can someone please clarify if the Kindle Fire is eligible for this promotion and if not, why it is considered an ereader when it obviously runs on Android with similar apps.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Good afternoon councilmage,
Thank you for taking the time to sign up for the forum.  I can understand questioning why our Fenway store may have denied your trade-in, especially when the Kindle Fire is categorized as a tablet on BestBuy.com.  Being that the original Kindle was solely an eReader, the associates may have assumed the same of your Kindle Fire; however, it should be considered more of a tablet, which means it would qualify for the current trade-in offer.
I am very sorry for any inconvenience you may have experienced while at the store, as we should be more familiar with our current promotional offers.  I am going to connect with the store managers from our Fenway store to ensure they have the correct information.  The offer is valid up until 9/6/2014, so I am going to suggest that you go back up to the store to try again.
If I hear back from the store or have an update, I will send you a private message.  You can check your private messages by logging into the forum and clicking on the envelope icon at the top of the page.
