Kindle for PC 1.1 crashes right after startup.

Question

I have a W105 out of the box with Office 2010 installed.
I use the Toshiba On-Screen Keyboard instead of the Windows one.
When I try to start the pre-installed Kindle for PC app, it crashes right away, giving me the following event log entry:
Faulting application name: KindleForPC.exe, version: 1.2.1.30427, time stamp: 0x4c6c56e2

Exception code: 0xc0000374
The same happens if Kindle for PC is uninstalled and re-installed.
I read on a Korean forum that the Kindle for PC application crashes on PCs when an IME (Input Method Editor) for Asian languages is used different to the Microsoft one: http://www.zingle.net/2009/11/13/i-cannot-run-kindle-for-pc-on-my-windows-7/ 
I suspect it might be the Toshiba On-Screen Keyboard that might cause this error.
Anyone got an idea?
