Is the Linksys E4200 Dual Band Router compatible with DHCP and VPN?
Thanks,

Linksys/Cisco E4200 are compatible with DHCP. Second, these Wireless-N routers are only capable of enabling the VPN traffic to pass through the device.  You will need a VPN router and software to create the actual network to connect with your VPN client.

  • Linksys WRT1900AC Dual Band Router Issue

    Hi We have recently Purchased
8 Linksys WRT1900AC Dual Band Router. And we are trying to connect our External Hard Drive which is
(Seagate Backup Plus 4TB USB 3.0 Desktop External Hard Drive STDT4000100) non of them are recognizing in USB 3 or USB 2 Yes we have also tried to format the drives in NTFS still no luck. I am really surprise that External 4TB HD not working with this Such Hi-Fi Router. I am hoping it should really don't want to return these router.
Please Confirm if this router support the Following Newest USB 3 External Hard Drives. I have tried everything but its not working.
1 - Seagate Backup Plus Slim 2TB USB 3.0 Portable External Hard Drive STDR2000100 B
2 - Seagate Backup Plus 4TB USB 3.0 Desktop External Hard Drive STDT4000100
    Thanks
    Faz

Have only 1 drive connected to the USB port. Restart the router and then map the drive. See if that works. The issue that I am having is that when I have only one drive (NTSF) connected to my WRT1900AC Router I can see it, no problem. The problem ocurrs when I install the second drive (FAT32) then it locks both drives and I can not map any of the drives either on mac or windows. I do see both drives on the Linksys Smart wi-fi browser (192.182.1.1) and tells me that both are connected, but thats about it. I am going to format both as NTSF and see if that solves the problem.

  • I can not see the airplay icon on my ipad3. I have an ipad3, apple tv 3rd gen, networked through a Cisco e4200 dual band router on the n wireless band.  Both can access the Internet, but I can not mirror or receive the iplay icon on my devices.

    .

    No app I'm afraid.
These problems can be multifactorial but often are network related.
You have enabled Home Sharing on all devices?

  • Is the Time Capsule wi-fi router compatible with the Nest thermostat? I've read where there are issues with the Nest and Airport Extreme (AE)? Is AE used in the Time Capsule?

I've read where there are issues with the Nest and Airport Extreme (AE)? Is AE used in the Time Capsule?
If so, i already have a wi-fi router, so can the Time Capsule simply be used for wireless backup instead of as a router if there is conflict?

A TC is fundamentally a AE with a sata chip included to drive the hard disk. Some slightly different bios to include disk functions, although most of those are also on the AE. So as a router it is 99.999% identical.
And yes, if you have another router you can easily bridge the TC and use wireless for backups and internet connection. Once you no longer route through the TC the issues with most NAT problems including port forwarding should disappear.. mostly this is due to all apple routers using NAT-PMP instead of upnp which is the near universal standard for opening ports.. without upnp apple keep their routers more exclusive.

  • Dual band router with multi vlan suggestion

Hi, I've got a RV220w and would like the change a dual band router
but I find out that RV042G only have port based vlan seems like same in network but separate multi vlan
any other suggestion like RV220w with multi vlan in different network
what I want to do is dual band network and create vlan network ip by myself same as RV220w
    192.168.0.0 vlan1
    192.168.1.0 vlan2
    192.168.2.0 vlan3
    192.168.3.0 vlan4
    192.168.4.0 vlan5
    Thanks

RV042G does not support tagged VLAN. What you need is a Cisco RV320 or a Linksys LRT224.

  • Linksys AC3200 Tr-band Router's VLAN Singtel (mio TV) Profile Not Working

Hi Linksys Fans, I've recently bought the Linksys AC3200 Tri-band Router to replace DSL7002GRV(S) Aztech Router (provided by Singtel). As I'm a subscriber of Singtel Fibre Entertainment Bundle Group (inclusive of 200Mbps Unlimited Fibre, Singtel mioTV and Home Digital Line), I've chosen Singtel (mio TV) profile under VLAN tab of router's connectivity settings. I'm able to connect to internet but not the mioTV. I've called Singtel customer service and they suggest me to ask Linksys instead. Before calling Linksys, I'm wondering if any one of you are facing similar problems and how do you overcome them. Thanks. TP

Linksys engineering would like to contact you regarding this issue. Please Private Message me your contact details so I can pass them on to Linksys engineering.

  • Dual band router will fix interferences right?

So i got really bad download problems, and i think i narrowed it down to interference problems.
Probably baby phones or a wireless 2.4ghz phone from my new neighbours.
So if i get the WRT320N-EW Dual Band router and put it on 5.2ghz this should fix it right?
    Thanks in advance.

Home wireless networks based on the 802.11b or 802.11g standards transmit their signal in a narrow radio frequency range of 2.4 GHz. Various other electronic devices in a home, such as cordless phones, garage door openers, baby monitors, and microwave ovens, may use this same frequency range. Any such device can interfere with a Wi-Fi home network, slowing down its performance and potentially breaking network connections.
One benefit of the 5GHz 802.11a WLAN devices is that they are not vulnerable to interference from other devices, because the 5GHz frequency range they utilize is not used by any other devices (at least for now).
On the down side, because of the type of modulation 5GHz wireless devices employ, their signals are more prone to be reflected and/or absorbed by materials in the home. This can have the same practical effect as active interference; that is, to weaken the signal, and reduce range and speed.

  • Dual Band Router

I just set up a new dual band router in my house and ever since then I can't get my airport express to work! Airport utility doesn't even find it.. I reset it with the little switch on the bottom but still can't get it to work! Has anyone else had this problem before? I'm not really sure what else to try..

It's a netgear WNDR3700 and I want to join the network for airtunes
Great, thanks for clarifying that for me.
Let's double-check your AirPort Express Base Station's (AX) setting for AirTunes:
Either connect to the AX's wireless network or connect directly, using an Ethernet cable, to the Ethernet port of the AX, and then using the AirPort Utility in "Manual Setup" mode, make the following changes:
    AirPort > Wireless
o Wireless Mode: Join a wireless network
    o Network Name: <existing Netgear's wireless network>
o Wireless Security: <select the encryption type of the existing wireless network>
o Wireless Password: <enter the existing wireless network password>
o Verify Password: <re-enter the existing wireless network password>
    Music
    o Enable AirTunes (checked)
o iTunes Speaker Name: <enter desired speaker name>
    o iTunes Speaker Password: (optional)
    o Verify Password: (optional)
o Click Update to write the new settings to the AX
    In iTunes:
    iTunes > Preferences... > Advanced > General
o Look for remote speakers connected with AirTunes (checked)
    Please post back your results.

  • Cisco 2500 dual band router. the hp printer is connects on one band, pc the other help

Cisco 2500 wireless router Dual Band N, HP PhotoSmart C309-g, Windows 7
PC cannot find the printer because it connects on a different band.  Cisco uses the same name for both bands.  How do I get both devices on the same network.

I also have a dual band router, Cisco's LinkSys EA3500 N750; and the 5.0gHz band is necessary to avoid interference with other equipment operating on 2.4gHz. I put TP-link 2.4/5.0 gHz adapters on each PC (one HP another Sony, both a few years old)  and the PCs now work fine, no loss of internet/network access.  Would that solution also work for the printer?  The printer does not recognize any network (even though the 2.4gHz shows as available and strong on the TP-link device.   I used the same name and security code for the new router as the old; again, neither PC had a problem finding it.

  • Is the 802.11n 1st generation a dual band router?

Is the 802.11n 1st generation a dual band router?

Yes, but not simultaneously I think.  If you look at the tech specs (http://support.apple.com/specs/#airport) for the Airport Extreme, the 1st and 2nd generation all say "2.4GHz or 5GHz" while the 3rd generation and up say "2.4GHz and 5GHz simultaneously".

  • I have an older version of the airport extreme, can i still set it up to be a dual band router like the newer versions?

Wondering if an airport extreme router that I bought back in 2009 will function as a dual band router, similar to the newer versions.  I wish to run my mac off of the lesser Ghz and the periphery devices off of the other(ipad, iphone).  I also have an apple tV, is this possible?

The 2009 model extremes are simultaneous dual band (but the 2007 model was not - it was dual band, but not simultaneous).  Your problem is that I know of no way to force a given device onto a given bandwidth on an extreme.  Both channels share the same SSID, and a device simple connects via whichever frequency it gets the best connection.
This is unlike other simultaneous dual band wifi routers.  I use a netgear wndr4500 (n900), and each radio is assigned a different SSID (and can also be configured independently in terms of security settings, and even turned on or off indepentently).  That way, I can force a given dual-band device to connect on a particular frequency by connecting it to that frequency's SSID.  The two SSIDs still function over the same subnet, so all 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz connected devices can see eachother on the same DHCP subnet.
But, I do not think you can set up an airport extreme like that - that sort of configuration is simply not an option with those devices.

  • Computer doesn't see second channel in Dual Band router

I have just purchased a Cisco Linksys simultaneous dual band wireless N gigabit router (model WRT610N-EU).
The router has two channels, 1) linksys and 2) linksys_media.  Both my computer and my TV see and connect without problem to linksys.  However, my intention with the dual band router what to have one channel for my laptop and one for the TV.  Unfortunately, neither see the linksys_media channel.  What is strange is that a visiting friend was able to see both channels on his laptop.  So why don't I?
Is there a compatibility issue here or am I doing something wrong?
BTW, my laptop is less than six months old and is running Windows 7 (newer than my friend's laptop).  The TV is a top of the line model and two months old.

Most likely your devices don't support the 5 GHz band. Check the specifications of the wireless adapters in your wireless devices.

  • Wireless Expander WRE54G and Dual Band router WRT610N

I used to have a band G-type network with a Linksys Router and a Wireless Expander WRE54G. It worked fine.
Now I have a WRT610 N Dual Band router. I am trying to connect the WRE54G to the netowrk (using the G-band of course) but it doesn't work. Runnig the Setup utility from the CD (og the Range Expander) ends in a "Site survey" which terminates with an error "Site survey fail". Maybe the installation program is not able to handle the WRT610N.
    Any suggestions?

Press and hold the reset button on WRE for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your Expander, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...
Connect your Expander to a computer, click on the Start button >>> Settings >>> Control Panel >>> Network Connections - Right click on the icon for Local area connection and go to properties- On the 'General' tab select 'Internet Protocol TCP/IP' and click on the Properties button- Select 'Use the following IP address'- Provide IP Address - 192.168.1.5, Subnet Mask - 255.255.255.0...Click on Ok button to Save and Click on "Close" on main Properties window...
Now open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop). In the address bar type - 192.168.1.240. Leave the Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...It should open your Expander set-up...
Once you get to the set-up page, change the Expander Settings...While changing the Expander settings you have to make sure that the Wireless Settings(SSID/Network Name and WEP/WPA Key) are identical on both the devices(Router and Expander)...Also make sure to change the Expander's default IP to match your network and Gateway Address should be your Router's address...ex.Expander's IP Address : 192.168.1.240(assuming your router's default IP Address is 192.168.1.1),Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0, Default Gateway : 192.168.1.1...
After configuring the Expander you should disconnect it from the Computer and go into Local Area Connection TCP/IP Properties and set it back to Obtain IP Address Automatically...Disconnect the Expander from the computer and power cycle both the devices(Expander and Router) ...Your Expander should be configured...

  • Alternative simultaneous dual band router that supports NTFS?

I was totally smitten with my Airport Extreme, until I had to change all of my media hard drives to NTFS (they had hit the characters per directory limit that FAT32 has).
I need to keep them as NTFS, because my TV only reads FAT32 or NTFS hard drives (i.e. I couldn't change to HFS+)
So my question is, does anyone know of a simultaneous dual band router (5ghz + 2.4ghz) which has gigabit ethernet ports and a USB port which supports NTFS hard drives?
From researching, the big competitors are the Linksys WRT610N and the Netgear DIR-855. Problem is, the Linksys and Netgear support forums are filled with posts from people claiming NTFS hard drives either don't work at all, or are severely temperamental
I could go for a NAS, but I just managed to get a pair of 2TB Western Digital USB hard drives for £98 each. I've been unable to find a 2TB (single hard drive) NAS for less than £170.

Can I use my wireless or an extra router along with the Verizon provided router?

  • HP Officejet Pro 8620 e-all-in-one printer & dual band router

Hi, I'm hoping someone will be able to confirm whether this printer is compatible with my router which is a dual band 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. I am not able to connect it to the internet. The box says that the printer is compatible only with 2.4 GHz routers. Would the fact that my router is dual band mean that it will not work with the printer?

Hello @JMHouston , and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you are looking into your options for a dual band router.  I would love to help.
The printer will only connect to a 2.4 GHz broadcast.  To quote this document on Print | Rate this content HP Printers - Tips and Workarounds for Common Wireless Network Printer Iss...
Dual band routers provide both 2.4GHz and 5.0GHZ frequency ranges. HP printers connect to the 2.4GHz frequency band and the 20 MHz bandwidth only. Many dual band routers let devices connected to the 2.4 GHz band communicate with devices connected to the 5.0 GHz band. But not all routers support this feature.
To manage the different bands and what devices connect to each, try assigning a unique SSID (network name) to each band. For example, name the 2.4 GHz band to “Mynetwork” and the 5.0 GHz band to “Mynetwork-5G”.
Communication and connectivity issues might occur with the printer connected to the 2.4 GHz band and the computer connected to the 5 GHz band. Try connecting the computer to the 2.4 GHz band.
As long as your router is broadcasting both network channels, you should have no issue connecting.
