Kinect and the mainstream, will it work? ME3

I was just wondering everyone's opinion on how the kinect is starting to play out. I love the premise of the kinect, but for a long time it was only used in gimmicky games.
Don't get me wrong some of the gimmicky games are a blast. Many nights of fruit ninja kinect and laughing our butts off "accidently" karate chopping eachother in the face. Or my white self trying to dance which could probably pass as a YouTube viral video. Along with the most surprising Gunstringer (an excellent fun game that took me by surprise) and hours my daughter spent playing with her pets on Kinectimals. They still all left me feeling like the kinect was being used as a gimmick tool.
Then I hear about Rise of Nightmares. If you missed this game I don't blame you as the game itself was mediocre, but it opened up a whole new possibility to the kinect. Basically the game was a zombie thriller with some puzzles added in to a semi open world. It was the first game that made me feel part of the game, almost like I was in it. If a horde of zombies came after you what would you do? Run. So you run in place And that's what you did in game. You turned your character and ran in place. Zombie coming after your brains? Duck. While the controls were clunky at times and they couldn't figure out a good way to walk from point A to B (walk you just held your foot out, but had a cheat to auto walk to B by holding your hands up because walking was so clunky). It made me feel like my real world reactions would translate to in game actions. It showed promise in things that could be, but fell far short.
So Microsoft bags themselves a AAA title in Mass Effect 3. Awesome. They only partially implement the kinect by using the voice recognition aspect to ME3, but I didn't expect it to be built around the kinect as it would be a whole game revamp. I think voice integration could be awesome for single player integration especially in tactical situations (anyone else hearing "Alpha go west, Bravo Go east, Charlie cover fire").
So do you think that Kinect can pull this off in mainstream games, most likely with only partial integration?
Do you think that Kinect can pull off full integration games like I saw promise of in Rise of Nightmares (looking at you Star Wars Kinect)?
Or will the Kinect be left to only be a good gimmick tool with some fun games?

I think it has some awesome potential. I remember a couple years ago now (wow, time flies) they had this big Kinect setup at the Mall of America and my boyfriend and I tried it out. It was pretty fun, but even then we had trouble picturing how we would play our favorite FPS. It seems to be great for little gimmicky adventure games, and it seems like anything new to appeal to the hardcore gamers has kind of failed. I heard Rise of Nightmares was a terrible game, but that it tried. Hopefully in the future we'll see Kinect evolve, especially with SW. But, who doesn't love Dance Central or Kinect Sports?
By now, most people that know me on the gaming board know that I am an Xbox girl but I haven't been able to bring myself to buy a Kinect. I don't see it as being completely worth it for me.... yet.
We'll have to see what Kyle says about ME3. Kyle = ME fan boy of the year.

So I just ordered my first Mac book Pro. I took it out of the box and hit the power button to do the start up and the screen will not work at all. I shut the computer off and back on again. I plugged it in and unplugged it. I've done everything I can think of and the screen still stays blank with no life at all

Is the battery charged? Press the little button on the left edge, near the front. If no green dots, no charge.
Does it charge? When you connect the MagSafe charger, does the pilot light on the plug light up?
Does it actually start? Should sound a chime after you press the power button on the top/right corner. If it chimes, does the Caps Lock pilot light when you press it?
If it starts and Caps Lock does flash on and off, have you tried pressing the screen brightness control for awhile? F2 turns up the brightness, may be turned fully down.

I have an ipad 1 16gb, wifi and the wifi will not work. Under settings, it says "no wifi". Has anyone else had this problem?

If you are positive there is a good Wi-Fi signal in the area of the iPad I would first reboot your iPad. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the iPad restart. See if that fixes your problem.
If that doesn't work, I would turn off your iPad and then restart your Wi-Fi router. Unplug the router for 30 seconds then plug it back in. Once the router had completed its restart process and established a link to the Internet then turn your iPad on. Make sure Settings > Wi-Fi> On.

Sounds like an update gone wrong.
You need to restore:
Apple TV (2nd and 3rd generation): Restoring your Apple TV
If you've not tried unpowering and restarting that's always worth a shot.

Most of your purchases content can be downloaded again via the Purchased tabs in each of the store. I realize that this will be a problem for the iTunes Store on the iPad, but that has nothing to do with apps, since apps are in the App Store.
If you backed up synced with iTunes before you restored the iPad, your content should be in iTunes on your Mac and you should be able to sync it back again.

I have Dreamweaver CS5.5 and the FTP will not work. Any Ideas?

Hello anyone out there. I just got off the phone with Adobe and they no longer support the product.
I keep getting this message:

I'm guessing your site is not properly defined. See screenshots below from Site > Manage Sites.
Servers: Root Directory is whatever your hosting provider (GoDaddy) told you to use. This varies by web host. The most commonly used ones are html_docs, public_html or www.
Click the TEST button. If you're connected, Save and exit this panel. If you can't connect, click More Options:

Did you try to get it working on another computer, see if that does it. BTW have you re-charged it using the 10w power adaptor, it might be out of power.
there's also a possibility that it may be a battery issue. contact apple if problems persist.

I dropped my phone in water and the speaker will not work

I dropped my iPhone 4 in the sink and pulled it out immediately but it had been completely submerged. I then shook all the water I could out and found that everything worked fine, except for the speakers. I now cannot place a phonecall or play any music with out headphones or a speaker. Also when I try upping the volume, it says headphones when the volume thing is displayed. Is there any way I can get my speakers to work again? I have my phone in a bowl of rice already.

You're lucky that's all that went wrong.
First thing is to immediately turn off the phone.
There is probably still water in the headphone connector causing a short.
To dry the phone place it in a bag of rice and leave it there sealed in the bag of rice for several day. Hopefully when you turn it back on the headphone connector will work as before.
Normally submergence in water destroys a phone.
If the phone does not return to proper working mode, make an appointment at an Apple Store to have the phone replaced for the out of warranty fee.

Have you disabled the firewall in you security system? Windows firewall rarely gets in the way, but security systems' do.

My iPhone keeps showing an error message and the external speaker wont work

Ok I have had my iPhone 3GS about 3 months now and recently it has started showing an error message "This accessory is not optimized for this iPhone, you may experience noise caused by mobile interference and a decrease in mobile strength". The external speaker will not work either, the only sound it will produce is the ringtone. Any other sound, message tone, sounds from apps, songs on my ipod, sounds from videos, will not be produced! Although when i plug the head phones in the sound will work for everything and then this error message will come up again and the sound will stop working. It's like the phone thinks it is plugged into a docking system or something. Also the phone will lose signal for long periods of time and sometimes not come back unless i restore the phone. I have tried EVERYTHING and nothing has worked, can anyone help me please?

Or you can try what lots of other people have found, and thats that the base connector is dirty and the contacts are shorted by some debris.
The Apple store guys are good at cleaning them out - if you do it yourself, do not use any liquids at all.

Have you tried a soft-reset to see if that fixes it ? You might be able to get warranty service in Egypt for your iPad, but the warranty includes :
IMPORTANT RESTRICTION FOR iPHONE AND iPAD SERVICE.
Apple may restrict warranty service for iPhone and iPad to the country where Apple or its Authorized Distributors originally sold the device.
As it's wifi-only you should have a better chance of it being serviced under warranty, but there are no guarantees, it might depend upon the repairer.

I have found that scrolling through the album list (past albums without art) triggers the progress wheel next to the wifi symbol. You can scroll quickly through the whole collection and then wait! Artwork will appear gradually...
However, repeat visits to the Music App might initially show no artwork again, but it might spontaneously appear more quickly this time. The bad news is that the whole Music App is now sluggish as ****...
