Kingston RAM advice

Dear all,
Will the following RAM work safely in a 24" 3.06Ghz model imac?
I want to upgrade to 4GB.
http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/5500556/Kingston-KTA-MB800-1G-2Gb-DDR2-800-For-App le-Imac-3-06/Product.html#
Is it a simple case of removing the old ones and inserting the new ones?
Many thanks

got the same as you Fireball but i used Crucial memory i think its cheeper mate. You have to throw the original memory and sell on ebay. Both slots already full with 2 * 1gb sticks, this has to be replaced with 2 * 2gb sticks for £35 inc vat i think. Dead easy job takes minutes to do the only nerve racking thing is you have to lay your imac down on its screen. Try this link http://www.crucial.com/uk/store/listparts.aspx?model=iMac%203.06GHz%20Intel%20Co re%202%20Duo%20%2824-inch%29&pl=Apple&cat=RAM
however they have a system scanner use this just to make sure .

  • Does anyone have kingston Ram

Curious I am haveing audio issues and if you look a few posts down there is my post, if someone could have a look at that thatd be great. Now since audio sync is my problem, I've read RAM may be it. But I really don't feel like take my RAM out. My pb came with 512, I upgraded and bought a 1GB stick of Kinston. Now does anyone else here have a Kingston stick in theres and have success with audio sync. I really wish I could fix this issue, its just driving me nuts.

Geez Nathan, it's not a big deal to remove that Kingston RAM and try again...
    Kingston has been problematic.

  • Kingston RAM

I'm planning to buy a RAM upgrade for my late 2011 MacBook Pro.
Is Kingston RAM a good choice or should i rather buy from Crucial?

go by warranty (which ever has the better warranty), rather than brand.  That is what is most important.  They are both well known name brands.

  • Kingston RAM OK rather than Apple approved?

I'm in Ottawa and I've been quoted by a shop that claims to be an Apple reseller who supplies Kingston RAM cheaper than the authorised Apple reseller. The price difference is significant.
I would be happier using the Apple authorised but am tempted by the Kingston product.
What does anyone think about inserting the Kingston RAM.
I have an ibook 933MHZ and want an extra 512 MB
    Thank you all

I have 1GB of Kingston RAM in my iBook. As long as they'll guarantee compatibility buy it.

  • Kingston RAM and MacBook / MacBook Pro?

    Hello,
I am finally going to be buying my MacBook Pro C2D in the next couple of days and have a question on Kingston RAM.
I am interested in the 2.16 model and loading it up with 2GB of RAM. When I went to the Apple boutique here in Canada, I was told that if I order my computer from the Apple site with Apple RAM it will take 1 month to receive!!!! Is this true? They told me they could get the model as advertised on the site (2.16 Ghz, 1 GB RAM and 120 hard disk) and put in Kingston RAM instead.
They said that Kingston RAM is supported by Apple and will greatly cut down the wait time and I will end up having my computer in a couple of days instead of a month. Is this a sales pitch they are pulling on me? Does it really take a month for a C2D with 2 GB of RAM (in the base model)? If I use any other kind of RAM am I voiding my warranty? The price they are quoting me is not really that much cheaper than Apple's so I don't know what the big deal is unless there is something I am missing here.
I am opting to get the lower model with more RAM instead of the 2.33 model with 2 GB since I don't think I will be using the 256 video card and I can save 400$ in the process. I love the 15" screen which is my main issue for wanting a MB Pro over the MB. I know the MB would be fine for me, but not the 13" screen. I plan on keeping my system for a good 4-5 years and I think the 13" screen will not meet my needs.
Any help you could give would be MOST helpful as I need to be purchasing my MB Pro by the end of the week. I will be starting teacher's college very shortly and need to get my system as quickly as possible.
As usual these forums are a GREAT resource! Thanks much for any help you could pass on!
    Cheers,
    Mark

It will not take any longer to get if you order it from Apple. It won't void your warranty installing RAM yourself either. I ordered my MBP from Apple, got it in about a week and installed an extra 1G of Apple-certified RAM from here. It's been working fantastic.

  • Kingston RAM "KVR400X64C25/512"

    Hi everybody
Could you please tell me if KVR400X64C25/512 Kingston ram are ok for a MSI K8T Neo-FIS2R mainboard?
And if I bought 2x512 modules there would be problems?
Thank you very much in advance

One stick in slot 1 seems to work but using both sticks in 1 & 3 or 2 & 4 just results in a hang with dleds indicating 'early chipset initialization'.
Can I ask what slots you're running and did you have to fiddle with timings, volts etc to achieve DDR400?
According to the Manual(Chapter 2 - Page 8) for DDR400 You would want to try Slots 1 & 3 for this ram, If It's Double Sided, If It's Single Sided ram then slots 2 & 4 should get You DDR400. But since You've tried that, Then You have double sided dimms and need some single sided ram dimms, As according to the manual there is no way to run 2 double sided sticks at DDR400 in those slots, Since You would need 2 Single Sided or 1 Double Sided Dimm to run at DDR400 in either Slot 1 and/or Slot 2.

  • Kingston ram mem solved in 3 k7n2 mobo

I already solve problems with kingston ram mem in 3 pcs, mine and 2 from friends . It seems this is for real, kingston ram mem when working on 400mhz dual have a lot of  :angryfire:overheat problems on msi k7n2 mobos, and the pchealth and other software won't tell u because it just shows the main proces and mobo/chassis temperature .
All I and this 2 friends have to do is to buy a new pc case with side cooling (direct on the ram mem) and one more back exaust fan.
    We bought this pc case:
     http://www.casemall.com.br/gabinetes/imt4000.htm
Site language it is in portuquese.
But any one with a side cooler slot (just one on the left) plus a back exaust slot will do the work
Ps.: this slots r all the same and the coolers/exaust fan too, all u need to do is change the face that u connect on the case.

  • 4GB Kingston RAM Upgrade New MB???

I have a brand spanking new Macbook purchased directly from the Apple store, which came with 2 GB RAM, 160 SATA HD, Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 processor. The user manual and apple's website says I can upgrade to 4GB of RAM (2x 2GB modules). So I order 2 - 2GB Ram chip of Kingston brand from NewEgg, for $65. Got them today, popped out the factory installed Ram Chips and seated in the new ones. Power up the macbook and I get the chime and the apple logo with the little spinning wheel, but then the screen display a black translucent box tell me that I must restart. So OK, I restart thinking that it need to update its bios with the new memory amount... on restart same thing...
So I reseated the ram at 5 times and 5 reboots and still the same problem. Put old ram back and it booted up just find and display a warning about not being able start previously, so I viewed the log and the memory dump states something about RAM Panic ????
The Kingston ram I bought is 2 modules of 2GB DDR2 PC2 5300 (667 MHz), which exactly what I was suppose to buy.
Now reading through these forums it looks like a mixed bag of user getting 3rd party ram to work or not work.
Any ideas... or could I just have bad memory.

Googood.... Thanks for your idea! One of the new chips worked with one of the old chips and one new one did not work... so it's going back for replacement.
    Thanks a bunch.

  • Ram advice please!

    Hi,
I’m new to this forum but I would appreciate if u guys could give me some advice.
    I have a K8N SLI Platinum and at the moment I run 1x 512 of Kingston Hyperx 533 memory @ 400MHz.
I keep getting messages like system run out of memory or something… while playing BF2 and Anarchy Online.
I think it’s time to get some extra memory but I need some advice.
With £100 budget I can get:
512MB Kingston HyperX 533 (don’t know if it will match my current module tho)
    or
1G (2x 512 matched pair) of Branded memory like Crucial Ballistix Tracer PC4000 for example,
     or
    2G (2x 1G) of generic PC3200 ram CL2.5. (can’t guarantee a matched pair)
And here is where I need help!
I would like to achieve a compromise between performance/stability but the later is my main concern.
What do you think will work better for me, mainly for gaming purposes ?
    1- 2G (2x1G not matched) @ 200?
    2- 1G (2x512 matched) @ 233?
    3- 1G (2x512 not matched) @ 250?
4-  Does it make a big difference if I run @ 250 instead of 200 FSB?
    Thanks in advance.

For games like Battlefield 2 that are major memory hogs, I think the extra gig of RAM would be more beneficial ... though I haven't tested the two side-by-side  so I'm not sure.
Of course, if it's generic low quality RAM, you might have a problem
Timming help a little but I opted to 2GB of cheap vs 1GB of fast ram. I run a lot of programs and this helps, games like BF2 run sweet with 2GB. I've tested with 1GB faster ram vs 2GB (2GB wins) When LAN partying I can take out 1GB if some are running 512 (happens, just getting it back makes happy but not them)
Cheapo generic "NO NAME" ram often is not fully tested or made well with lack of support in most cases (what out for RMA central). That why I've used Crucial for years, good products/support and I've never had to send any sticks back.

  • Please help with 4 sticks of Kingston RAM

Hello. I bought the 875P-LSR Neo board and have been having nothing but troubles with it. Maybe someone here can give me some help. I have a P4 3.2 GHZ CPU (NOT the extreme one), an ATI 9800XT video card. I bought 4 512MB sticks of  Kingston KVR400X64C25/512 which is on their approved memory list. I cannot get this board to work with 4 sticks of RAM, even when I set it to BIOS defaults. I have updated to BIOS 1.9, or whatever the lastest is. It just posts, loads XP then reboots. I don't want to overclock or anything, I just want to run at 3.2 GHZ with 2 GB of RAM. If I run two sticks in slots 1 and 3 it runs ok, but I get ALOT of program crashed in XP. I'm sure it has something to do with memory speeds or voltages, I am just letting the board config the memory, I think it is using 2.5,4,4,8 and 2.6 V. Anyone out there have any suggestions for getting this memory to work. In reading the boards I saw that this board has problems with 4 memory sticks. They shouldn't be advertising this board can handle 4 GB of RAM if that is the case. Any advice is greatly appreciated

It seems to run fine with just 2 modules, but I bought 4 for a reason!
I am now contemplating a new MOBO.  Any suggestions?

  • Will Kingston RAM kvr1333d3n9/4g work on my MBP15 early 2011?

I'm looking foward adding some extra RAM to boost my Macbook Pro 15 early 2011.
I wonder if this kingston model (kvr1333d3n9/4g) will get the job done.
If so, I'll get 2 dimms to take it to 8GB.

I would choose something from Apple or Crutial, I am not personally experienxed with Kingston, but I'm sure someone else will jump in on this and further this disscussion.
    Hope thsi helps,

  • 2GB of RAM advice

I want to upgrade my ram to 2GB by adding another 2x512MB sticks of same type. Since I have San Diego chip do you think I can run all of the 2GB at 400Mhz and dual channel. Of course at 1T timing.
    Any advice appreciated.

Running 2 gigs (4x512) at 2T 400 speed with San Diego as shown below.  Bios default settings work for that WITHOUT having to overclock.  Could run 2 gigs at 1T 400 Speed with two 1 gig sticks and proper bios.  The user manual is not up to date for Venice and later processors.

  • RAM advice needed

I am going to install Oracle 10gR2 in an AIX machine with 15G RAM. What percentage of Physical RAM should i set aside for SGA and PGA combined. I read in the internet that it should be 80% of Total RAM size? Is this right?
During the day this oracle server will be having at least 1300 sessions(so 1300 oracle server processes running) at any given time. So, can anyone advice me of appropriate SGA_MAX and PGA_AGGREGATE_TARGET sizes.

    Comments embedded
    Thank you Syb.
The applications are run from the application server.
How would i know how much memory each application is
consuming? By measuring it on your test/acceptance server, before you go production
Why do you think Shared Server
    configuration is more appropriate?
1300 processes times 8 Mb minimum, sometimes even 40 M.
Most of these processes are, from Oracle perspective, doing nothing.
Also with 1300 processes we are talking OLTP, aren't we?
The overhead of starting a dedicated process is significant.
The reason for this is your server processes needmemory too (apart from the PGA) and you should avoid
paging and swapping in normal situations
I thought PGA_AGGREGRATE_TARGET is used to control
the total amount of memory consumed by all server
processes combined. So, What do you mean by 'apart
from PGA' ?First of all there is also uga. Secondly each process needs to map the SGA into their own working set. Also there is code to run.
    >
Which oracle documentation should i look to get
advice on SGA_MAX_SIZE and PGA_AGGREGATE_TARGET?You can easily search the documentation by using tahiti.
This search string provides relevant information for sga_max_size in 10g.
    http://www.oracle.com/pls/db102/ranked?word=sga_max_size&remark=federated_search
But they will tell you there are no formulas and you should use the advisor.

  • Kingston RAM, Help?

    Hi!
I recently bought another PC3200 Kingston KVR400/512R Value RAM to go alone with the other, making 1Gig of RAM. The first RAM I used by itself for about a week in DIMM1 before adding this one.  After adding this one in DIMM2, my system would boot up and would hold at the windows screen.  I went into the bios and changed both to 200Mhz, and now it works. I even tried 266Mhz but that doesn't work either.  Can't I at least go up to 333Mhz on each? I do not know much about what to set frequency at and what not...

Check this thread RAM not running at full speed? it's just a few lines down from your original. Looks like they had a simalar problem and got it sorted.

  • -ilsr, best ram advice for sys build

Im building what i hope will be a worry free system for my mother, and want basically to just shove the bits in and watch it fly, trouble is, as this board is a bi(r)tch  for ram, i wanted to know what the best ram on a budget would be, ive heard crucial isnt too bad, kingston not so bad but mushkin? finding uk suppliers is tough

See my sticky post regarding Good Memory choices at the top of the forum...
I wouldn't depend on a 350W supply to run my system these days...it's too close to the line and this motherboard is power hungry...add in a middle of the road video card and you may just intermittent yourself to death and end up bald like Bas *chuckles* Intermittent meaning that the system will do random reboots, shut down, etc...
Everything else looks decent tho...memory is such a crapshoot regardless of what middle of the line brand that you buy...if you buy high end then it's not a big deal...
    Good luck to you!!
