Kingston ValueRAM on RS482M4-L

Hi all,
With 2 sticks of 512 MB , my mobo is always starting at 333Mhz instead of 400 Mhz.
Does someone knows why ? And how i can change that ?
This mobo should support DDR400 according to the specs (PC3200).
My system :
RS482M4-L
AMD Athlon 64 3500+ ( NewCastle )
2 x Kingston KVR400X64C3A/512
Nvidia GeForce 6200 TurboCache
72GB WD Raptor SATA
250 GB Seagate Barracuda SATAII
SB Live 24-bit
Antec 550W PSU

Blizzie,
This motherboard does support PC-3200.  If you are loading at 333mhz something is wrong in your configuration somewhere I would expect.  It could possibly be the RAM and the voltage.  If you will notice my post at the top of this forum I list a specific voltage for the RAM.  Check the specs of the ram you own.
Also, what slots do you have the RAM in?
Download CPU-Z http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php and check timings along with reporting all information it says here regarding your RAM.

Ive similar problem with this MB and 2 x "KINGSTON VALUERAM KVR1333D3N9/2G" - when computer starts he "sometimes" see only 2gb of ram, and sometime 4gb. Same problem with bios 1.3 and 1.5.
Else ive got 2 x "Patriot PSD34G16002H 4Gb", when i upgraded bios 1.3 > 1.5 version computer dont start with this modules installed - he start, pause 3sec and restart infinitely. With bios v1.3 computer starts but same problem like with kingston modules (sometimes 4gb/8gb of ram).
Now i completly confused... Looks like problem in memory controller, but controller as i know in proc (i5 2500)... So any suggestions?

I split off your topic rather than your hijacking another's thread.  Read the >>Posting Guide<< and post details about your system.  Better yet, make a signature.

  • MSI P55A-GD65 + 16GB Kingston Valueram, a stable combination?

    Hey,
    I'm planning on buying:
    MSI P55A-GD65
    Intel i7-870
    2x Kingston KVR1066D3N7K2/8G (= 16 GB)
Will this work stable as it is? Memory is on the QVL. Any known problems or issues? Things to take into account?
    Thanks.

Should work ok.  Perhaps a little memory bump may be necessary, test and see.

  • What Kingston ValueRAM is Compatible with Optiplex 780?

They no longer list it on their site as you probably already know.  You can call them at 1 (800) 835-6575, I know they have an internal database and can most likely give you their part number if its not that old.

I believe I used Crucial in our 780s, and the biggest it will accept is 4GB. Perhaps the RAM is DoA? Have you tried the Kingston module alone in the computer and/or a different slot?
FYI here's a link to the Crucial paget: http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for//optiplex-780-small-form-factor.

Basically, Windows would crash randomly, Rar's would fail to unpack randomly, and games would die rapidly (within minutes). memtest86 did not show anything however Prime95 detected a hardware failure every time within a minute.
The solution? Do not use 1.8 bios! Use 1.4 bios instead!!
Even in 1.8 bios with the memory slowed down - 333 Mhz, 3 6 15 6 (the slowest) it still had problems. But with Auto settings in 1.4 BIOS, Prime95 test does not produce failures! And it has the same temperature.
Now I just need to track down all the corrupt files in my windows installation :(

It sure sounds like something in Win98se is not liking something in the 1.8 Bios or vice versa. As when I had Win98 crashes could happen and It was not a Secure OS either. I didn't bother to upgrade to 98se, I bypassed It and ME and upgraded to Windows 2000 when It came out instead, Now I use Windows XP Pro, And I have no problems(I use the NTFS file system too). Besides I'm not sure that Win98se is even fully supported on a 64bit cpu/motherboard, So I'd get an upgrade soon as possible. When 98se came out cpus were 16bit and 32bit, Not true 64bit cpus like Yours is.

  • My 21.5 inch 2010 iMac won't stop crashing and rebooting when I put in my 8GB 1 piece Kingston RAMstick

I have the 21.5 inch 2010 iMac and I bought this Kingston 8GB 1 piece Ramstick (http://www.amazon.com/Kingston-Technology-1333MHz-KTA-MB1333-8G/dp/B007TGZ4UY/re f=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1401114006&sr=8-7&keywords=iMac+1333Mhz+RAM) and when I put it in my Mac, and I start up my Mac, it crashes and reboots itself. Then it happens over and over again. No matter what I do. Anyone have a solution?

If it is Kingston ValueRAM, that product has been troublesome since Intel Macs were introduced in 2006.
Look to Crucial or OtherWorld Computing (macsales.com).

  • 845GE Max L and Kingston RAM problems

I'm building a system using an MSI 845GE Max L mobo, P4 2.4 and a 512MB stick of Kingston PC2700  DDR ValueRAM.  When I turned the computer on the first time, it started, then immediately turned off, and then came on again.  When I tried to install WinXP, it always stopped at some point with a BSOD complaining about problems with the NTFS Master File Table.  Yet the hard drive and NTFS setup checked out OK and did all hardware, connections, etc.  I switched to another power supply and removed/disconnected everything except the bare essentials.  Still the same problems.  Finally, the system started freezing after turning off and then back on.  I couldn't even get into the CMOS.
When I pulled out the RAM stick and substituted a 512MB stick of Kingston PC2100, everything proceeded perfectly.  Does anybody know of any problems the 845GE Max has had with Kingston PC2700 ValueRAM?  I guess it could be sick RAM, but I somehow recall hearing past complaints about Kingston ValueRAM and some MSI boards.
    Thanks for any help!
    Larc

Thanks for the suggestion, but that unfortunately doesn't work.  When I put the culprit RAM module in and upped DDR voltage to 2.6, boot failed.  MemTest wouldn't start and I had no video.
When I ran MemTest with the bad RAM in place last night, I stupidly allowed the system to boot into XP after the test finished.  WinXP was trashed!  The system wouldn't boot into Win even after I put in good RAM.  Thank goodness it was a new installation and nothing had been installed except XP.
It looks as if I not only got a bad stick of RAM, but a vicious one at that!
    Thanks again for your help.

    CPU:   [email protected] (333x8)

GPU:   nVidia GeForce 8600GT (rev a1)
    HD:   2 x ATA-6: ST3250310NS, rev. SN04 (250Gbyte) using 3GB/s on ata 1 and 3 using AHCI

    PWR:   RealPower M700 (RS-700-ASAA-A1)
OS:   CentOs 5.3 (primarily for using Xen)
Previously I used 4GByte, 2 x OCZ3P13332G (7-7-7-20), on optimized settings and my setup worked flawlessly (however, only after the last BIOS upgrade).
I recently upgraded to 8GByte by replacing the OCZ memory with 4 x Kingston ValueRam, type KVR1333D3N9K2/4G [9-9-9-24]
Even on fail-safe defaults [9-9-9-24] I consistently experience bad system instability. Running the memtest86+ (v2.11) I see memory errors occurring frequently,
and over the entire memory space in test 5 (the block move test). Errors always occur in pairs, the problem always seems to be data bit 15.
All other memory tests run fine, it is only the block move test that throws errors.
When I modify the fail safe settings and only disable spread spectrum the situation seems to improve somewhat.
Additionally switching the FSB/DDR3 ratio from 2.0 to 1.6 (1066 Mhz internal to DDR3) solves any instability.
However, I selected this memory because it is mentioned in memory test reports for the P45D3 on the MSI website.
Thus I thought I would be able to run it without problems at 1333Mhz internal speed.
Is there something I'm missing ? Do I need to perform some special settings, or install special BIOS, to experience the the full speed ?
    With kind regards,
    Walter

4 RAM modules (8GB) means a significant bandwidth request for the northbridge.
To make them run stable you have two options:
    1) lower speed (1066 ... 1333)
    2) higher voltages (RAM modules and/or northbridge).
First of all you should try 1333MHz, 9-9-9-24 at 1.60-1.65V

Well I purchases a x600pro 256 meg card from geeks.com, when I tried to install it, it would not work. I turned my onboard video off, and put the card in, I would still get nothing. Hmm? I tried resetting my cmos and letting it auto detect, yet that did not work either. I sent the card back thinking it was a bad car, yet it posted on there machine, so is it a bad slot? An update I do not have? A re-call? Let me know please. Thanks

    Looking at ur sig I see U coorently use a X300. I gues that's a PCI-ex card too ??

  • Lock ups and dumping psyical memory!!!

Hi i have just installed a new pc most of the stuff im useing is from my old computer so i know they work fine im running a:
    P4 3GHZ Prescot 800MHz, HT-Enabled
    865PE Neo2-P
    512 DDR-400 Twin moss
    ATI Radeon 9000 pro

    XP Pro
My computer locks up alot when running intense games (games have worked before no problem) i also get a error saying dumping pysical memory, i have looked about and tried to solve this myself, i found that someone was haveing the exact same problem as me and he fixed it by turning the FSB down as his memory wasnt compatable with his motherboard if doing that works how do i do it ?
    Many thanks Jonathan

Flappa, Your memory " clock" is fine and there is no need to "underclock it" as long as you did not mess with the Bios.
I had the same problems. I could not even get thru a Clean install of windows as it would Blue Screen
1- are you running in " Dual Channel Mode"?
2- If so is your memory a " match Set"?
    some times memory even thought it has the same markings is not matched . Dual channel sets are matched and made to run together in "Dual Channel Mode"{
( Even though I had the same manufacturer memory my set would not run in Dual Channel without " Blue Screening" I bought a Matched Set of Kingston Valueram and have not had a problem since
3- If it is not a matched set, pull one stick out and run it for a while , if it still bluescreens try the other stick
4- raise your memory voltage to 2.7 or 2.8 ( which ever is the lowest that it runs stable)
5- If all this does not work , run MEMTEST to see if there is a problem with both sticks
6- you are running a Bios Version that supports the " Prescott Microcode" right?
Let us know what your findings are
    Good Luck

  • K9n Platinum Won't Post!!! Memory Incompatible or Mobo failure???

Like so many others, I am having trouble with my K9N PLatinum.  When I turn the system on, everything powers on, CPU fan, case fans, leds.  It begins to post, no video, but the D bracket just hangs on (1, 3, 4, red and 2, green).  I have tried all of the usual troubleshooting.  Using just one stick of memory in each DIMM slot, reseating CPU, only having CPU/memory/video card plugged in.  I even went and bought some cheap RAM from a local retailer and the same thing, D bracket just hangs.  Taking out battery, resetting CMOS switch, etc.  This build has been very frustrating.  I have read there are BIOS updates, but have never updated bios before.  How would I do an update when the system won't even post?  PLEASE HELP!!!

I got it to post and install windows on the Kingston valueram.  I did a live update via MSI's website to BIOS version 1.2.  But version 1.2 would still not post using my OCZ memory.  I wanted to try to flash the beta 1.31 bios, ut I am having difficulty flashing the beta 1.31 bios version ins DOS mode.  Has anyone else done this?  Also, when is MSI going to put the newest bios version up for Live Update.  That would make a lot of unsatisfied customers, happy.  I was about ready to return my board and go ASUS.  But I wanted to stick it out with MSI because I like you guys the best!  Any info on flashing bios would be great! • MSI 870a-G54 Hard drive problem.

About a week ago i reinstalled Windows because it started to slow down (virusses and what not) And as soon as i reinstalled everything (programs games etc etc) One of my harddrives used for games did not show up at the bios and at My computer.
So this entire week i've been trying to get it to work again and i've narrowed down the problem today to the BIOS and/or motherboard not giving the power to the HDD in order for it to start and be recognized in BIOS and Windows.
What ive done to come to this conclusion:
    - Reinstalled Windows twice,
    - Replaced CMOS Battery,
    - Flashed the BIOS to every BIOS setting the MSI website had to offer. None worked for the HDD to get powered up again.
    - Moved CMOS jumper,
    - Changed SATA and powercables on harddrive,
    - Tried the HDD on another test PC i had and reformatted it there as well,
    - Only hooked up the not working HDD to the PC, (HDD did not spin up, and came to the conclusion at this point that motherboard or BIOS is the culprit)
    - Unplugged the powercable to the not working HDD and plugged it back in when the PC was running and i could feel it spinning up, after this i restarted the PC so that the HDD would still get power and it was recognized by the BIOS and Windows and i could use it. As soon as i shut down the PC entirely and restarted it the HDD would not spin up. And i had to unplug power to the HDD and plug it in again and restart PC for it to work properly.
    - Checked for bad sectors nothing found,
Everything else is working perfectly. Except that one HDD not getting the power when booting up the PC.
The HDD in question is the "Samsung HD502HJ 500gig" used for Steam games.
    PC Specs:
CPU: AMD Phenom II x4 955 Black edition. Put on a new CPU cooler last summer (Cooler master Hyper 212 Plus)
    Mobo: MSI 870a-G54
PSU: Antec EarthWatts EA650 (650 Watts)
Graphics card: Powercolor PCS+ HD5870 Put on a custom cooler last summer (Arctic Cooling Accelero Xtreme 5870)
    RAM: Kingston ValueRam 1333Mhz DDR3 (8gigs 4x 2gig) Bought 4 gigs extra last summer
HDD1: Seagate ST3160812 AS 160gig used for Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit (Works perfectly)
HDD2: Samsung HD204UI 2TB used for Storage / Other games than i have on Steam. (works perfectly) Bought last summer with the cooling/system upgrade
HDD3: Samsung HD502HJ 500gig used for Steam games. (Does not work anymore after reinstal) Bought 2 years ago along with the rest of the PC
I am completely at a loss here as to what the problem is. I do not have the funds to buy a new piece of hardware at this time (i think the entire week of struggle would back that up for me lol...). And ive basically tried everything what i know and what i've found through Google and friends. Might have been better going straight to MSI forum and post my problem here but narrowing it down to this not only helps me but the person that is going to post below in this thread as well lol.
Thanks in advance and i hope to hear from anyone soon.

Try drive in different PC, as it looks like it died.
HDD's always spinup as soon as power is applied, ergo I think the drive died.
Ive tried it already in 2 different PC's and i have to apologize here for not mentioning that earlier in the topic.
The drive spins up perfectly in both of those PC's and ive checked for bad sectors on both of those PC's as well and it showed that the drive was 100% healthy on both PC's
The drive was working perfectly fine before the reinstallation of windows. Thats why i dont think the drive has died. Because it would be weird that the drive just suddenly gave up right when im reinstalling windows..
It also doesnt add up when i plug the powercable back into the drive while the PC is running and it spins up then and works perfectly until PC is shut down. Thats why i had it narrowed down to the BIOS and/or Motherboard being the culprit.
My best guess is that its software related because the PC does boot up so its not a hardware problem.
    P.S.
A friend of mine said that it could be a powersaving issue. But ive looked into the BIOS and i could not find anything about it.

  • Memory(RAM) upgrade on a Mid-2012 MacBook Pro

Hello Apple fans and users. My Mid-2012 MacBook Pro 13" is a bit slow. It has 2x2GB DDR3 1600MHz Ram and when I open more than 4-5 tabs in Safari it becomes really really slow. So that's what's bothering me and I have decided that I need to upgrade my RAM to more GB's. I have iStat app and it shows me that more 3/4ths of the RAM is being used when I have more than 4-5 tabs open in Safari and when my iTunes is playing a song.
So Im from the Netherlands and what I found is this:  http://www.alternate.nl/Corsair/4-GB-DDR3-1333/html/product/922656?tk=7&lk=9331
It even says MAC Memory. I find this good because it is supposed to be for a MAC, but my only concern is that my memory right now is 2x2GB 1600MHz, and the one that Im currently looking at(at the link) is only 1333MHz.
Do you guys think this might be a problem or it is bad or is it going to be a NOT SO GOOD upgrade? Im not very good with computers but from what I know 1333MHz is less than 1600MHz...
    But I also found this -> http://www.alternate.nl/Kingston-ValueRAM/4GB-ECC-DDR3-1600/html/product/1118143 ?event=search
and it is 1600MHz, DDR3, 4GB BUT I AM NOT Sure if it's gonna work on my laptop because it is a MAC.
So what do you guys think? Which one should I get and why? Is there a difference between 1333MHz and 1600MHz? And what is it? How am I gonna feel the difference?

As BobRz says, get the right speed, or you may have problems.

I just got a brand new 790fx-gd70 out of RMA (I had to RMA my original board because I tried flashing bios via the m-flash).
As I have intel certified memory I flashed the latest 1.7 bios (with the help of the utility). A few day all was good, when my computer started freezing. I pinpointed the problem to a faulty memory stick and send it to RMA.
I put the Kingston memory in as a temporary fix till I get the OCZ from RAM and just in case ran memtest. After a few errors, memtest froze and after the reboot I ended up with the FF on the display.
If I remove the memory module I get three beeps, but it's still stuck at FF.
Any ideas what I should do next? I don't have the patience to RMA the board again as i'll probably have to wait another 30 days...
    Thanks for any answers.
