KitKat update fail, no reboot
Looked ok but stuck now. Install script ran all the way through "reboot", select via Enter button (odd). Droidbot's on his back with front panel open and red exclamation triangle displayed....Thinking that ain't a good sign. Yay. It's been 15 minutes now. Plugged in external power. Wait, or force factory reset?
Gave up waiting, forced reboot (power plus volume up for 60 sec) which allowed upgrade to resume and finish. Looks to be OK now. Excellent reminder (for the 147th frigging time) to backup data B4 a major update. No issues this time thankfully but one might think I'd have learned to avoid the DOH! syndrome by now....L8R G8TRs.

Droid Razr M: KitKat Update Fail
I have tried to update my Droid Razr M with the OTA KitKat update and it fails every time. It downloads fine, but only installs about 25% then goes to the Android laying on his back with a exclamation point. It then restarts and says, "Software Update Failed". I have tried several times and even done a hard reset and it still fails. Please help.
Uneventful update: My stock red Motorola M had been gone since I tried to (removed) I had thought (mistakenly) that this indicated my system was corrupted but now I realize the logo is just that...an image.
Before the rest of you posted, I believed that if I did a hard reset, Kitkat would load. But apparently that is not the case.
(removed) though I did have before Tuesday.
Is it possible to wipe delvik and cache with a locked bootloader? If so, how?

MacBook Pro 8,1 13" SMC Update Fails On Reboot
I have the newest 13" Macbook Pro with OSX Lion and I have an SMC update that will not successfully install on my machine. The update is MacBook Pro SMC Firmware Update Ver. 1.5. When I install it the update runs fine except upon reboot. It hangs with a grey screen and the circle working/wait symbol. It will remain this way until I force a shutdown. When I boot the machine up it starts fine but when I check the SMC firmware version it has not updated. This happens everytime I attempt this update. I have had updates that have hung when trying to reboot but these have successfully been applied even with forcing a shutdown. I need some help. I have tried looking through the forums and have had no luck so far. My MBP has an SMC Firmware version of 1.68f96. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
I am not trying to be rude but you are incorrect. You have the latest firmware for the 15" MBP and in my subject line I stated that I have a 13" MBP. I did find out that my firmware version was correct. I have fixed the issue now. The Library/Updates folder had 2 install packages in it. One was the SMC Firmware update and the 441-???? folder. The 441-???? folder had an SMC firmware installer tool in it. I just needed to re-install the 441-???? install package and this completed the firmware update installation. Now my MBP is running faster and I have fan control now as well.

PC fails to reboot and shows blank screen after automatic windows updates including SP
Pavilion- a1130n" WINXP ProfessionalC fails to reboot and shows blank screen after automatic install ing windows updates including SP 3
I would love to say that a refresh worked for me however it did not.It takes about 30 Minutes total I was able to trace part of the issue to a Registry Key that was tagging the processor. Because my BIOS manages its own temp gauge and windows is trying to
build on in I had to turn the BIOS one off as well as for some reason I get better funtionality with Visualization off.
I am still dealing with a lag but I was able to get ride of the freeze that made the computer completely useless. -
2nd Half of Lollipop Update Fails
I received the first half of the Lollipop update with no issues. My phone then prompted me to download the second update package, which I did. The install gets to the Android Firmware screen, runs for about 5 minutes, then says "Error!" and reboots. After reboot, I get a message that the update has failed.
I have rebooted my phone and tried again.
I have removed my battery and tried again.
Using Kies, I get the message that my device is on the current firmware. Which I know is wrong.
Forums indicated trying the VZW Upgrade Assisstant/Repair Tool. After Installing, I get this message:
I should have plenty of room for this update...
My phone is running the last version updated...
Verizon - I don't want to do a "Factory Reset" again... I had to do that for the kitkat update...
Please advise on troubleshooting/fix.
Thank you,
Jeffto be clear: after downloading and validating the OTA update, it reboots, starts installing, says error and reboots again. About a minute after it reboots, it pops up with this:
When I go to software update again, it shows this. -
SCCM 2012 SP1 MDT task sequence fails on reboot does not retain ip
we are having a sccm 2012 sp1 server that used for installation of win 8.1 Enterprise , the task sequence works perfectly fine but when we run the same task on HP Elite 8300 system having Intel 82579LM Adapter from Windows XP , after the reboot the
task fails as no ip address is assigned the NIC , We did download the WInPE Adapter drivers from HP site and injecting to the x86 Boot Image (6.2.9200) however the task still fails ,
Our environment uses all static ip address , the same task as mentioned earlier has worked fine with Different brands of HP elite 8200/8100 , infact the elite 8200 also uses the same NIC card

Awating response,
Hasan RezaWell Finally I sorted my issue ,
Just want to share the solution, may be it would be helpful to some one else and save some times
The problem was that the Xp images has lot of hidden NIC installed , this would not allow the system to work with the correct NIC card and Ip address (System -> View Hidden Devices) , what I did 2 things
1) Copied the OSD Script folder from the SCCM Server to the Client pc and ran that ztigather.wsf and captured the output , it was evident that it showed capturing multiple adapters , (There are some blogs that pointed out that OSD can capture only one nic
due to the only one Adapter0 section being defined in the ZTIgather.xml file,)
2) I open the registry at the xp pc navigated to HKLM-> System ->Current Control Set-> Services-> TCPIP -> Parameters-> Interfaces ->
Expect for the NIC card that had the Ip address assigned I deleted all other nic card's guid,
As then post running deleting the old scanstate (USMTUTIL /rd c:\statestore) , reran the task and VOILA..
All worked fine , below are the two post I followed , though notvery relevant but they were helpful and help me reached the conclusion.
Thanks,
Hasan Reza.

Windows update fails with error 0x800F0922 for KB2961072 on Windows 8.1 desktop
I just tried to install updates on my Dell desktop tower running Windows 8.1 Pro. The first time it said that updates did not succeed and that it had to roll them back. I started using computer and now that same update notification showed up again.
I tried installing it once more and got the same story -- it rolled them back. So I'm afraid I'm about to go into a deadloop with Microsoft here.
On the side note let me say that I am not a fan of stopping my work to reboot computer and loose 10-15 min on this foolishness, so if there's a way to make these go away, I'd follow it.
When I pull up an update window I get these:
As for "security update for internet explorer", if that's the hold-up, I'd gladly pick the one that says, "Remove internet explorer 11 FOREVER" because I never use it and I don't know why I even have it?
Anyway, when the update fails and gets rolled back after a reboot here's what I see in the event log:Hi,
to solve this issue please follow the instructions given in this link:

Error while installing the Android 4.4 KitKat update - How do I fix it?
Hello, I'm having a problem in which my phone will not install the android 4.4 update on my droid mini successfully. My phone has downloaded it over Wi-Fi and 4G LTE but the installation itself never actually works.
After the first reboot during my installation, on my phone I see a picture of an android with a red exclamation sign that says Error. My phone reboots to the system and i see a notification box called "Software Update - Update Failed" and it's not working at all.
I'm downloading it for the third time now so this is really frustrating to me. Here is a picture of my System update information:pacnet2014- It sounds like completing this update has been a hassle and that's not good. I have reviewed some information about your device and I see that others have had this issue. Have you tried completely master resetting the device? Try that and then try the software update again.

Tried to update ipod Touch 4th Generation, Update Failed, iPod won't work
So less than twenty minutes ago I tried to update my iPod touch, knowing it had been asking this for a few days. The update failed, as as of now my iPod Touch is stuck on the picture of the iPod cable with an arrow pointing at the iTunes symbol. I've tried holding the two buttons to force it to shut off, it does- when I turn it on I get the apple logo so I know it turned on, only to get it again. When plugged into my computer, it is not recognized by anything. Going to Computer it doesn't see it as plugged in, and on iTunes nothing comes up with connected objects. This happened to me once in the past and I had to go to the Apple Store to have it fixed... can anyone tell me what to do so I don't have to go to them, or am I gonna have to take some time and drive over to have them take a look at it? Also, when removing my iPod from the computer, i get the sound that you get when you remove something from your computer, meaning it knows it's plugged in, just not reading it for some reason.
Thank you very much to anyone that can help!
If this is posted in the wrong area, this is my first loggin- sorry if I screwed up, mind telling me if I did?
Message was edited by: ShadowSora94iPod Touch 4G 32GB. I had same problem when I tried updating iOS; iTunes says restoring iPod, but after a while gives error 1603. I tried all suggestions from support: recovery mode, other USB ports, disconnect all other devices, uninstall and reinstall apple s/w and drivers, disable all other services using msconfig, confirm USB are 2.0, re-download updated software, reboot computer, name it! I finally installed iTunes on old Dell Inspiron P4 running XP, plugged iPod in it and device got recovered immediately! Put it back in Win7 computer and performed backup restore. Everything is back as it was. I have no idea what prevents s/w update on main computer. I realized I never get "waiting for iPod" message during attempt to restore, while I do on old Dell. I wonder what triggers this message.

ITunes 10.5.3 update failes to install
Window 7 64-bit currently running iTunes10.5.2.11
Every time i try and run the update for iTunes 10.5.3.3 x64 installer, it goes so far as to ask where to install (yes I ran the download manually after the automatic update failed a few times).
Each time it failes almost immeadiately with the error:
"The installer encountered errors before iTunes could be configured.
Errors occured during installation. Your system has not been modified.
Please run the installer again, or click Finish to exit."
I noticed a few things.
a) The version number in about iTunes does not show the x64 after it like the splash screen for 10.5.3
b) My iTunes is installed in Program Files (x86) which is where 32 bit versions generally get installed.
So do I currently have the 32 bit version installed and the auto installer is tring to update it to the 64 bit and that is why it fails?
I've tried run the install to Program Files instead of Program Files (x86). Fails just the same. Do I need to uninstall iTunes and reinstall to get the update to work?
Or is the 10.5.3 install just borked?Try downloading the package for new installs. the update package failed, but the new install package worked for me without any trouble.
History:
I began this trouble shooting exercise by selecting Download Only through the Apple Update applet. Running the msi manually did not resolve the problem. In fact, it was more frustrating because the download package would disappear after running even though it failed, and I had to download it again. "Cleanup" I suppose. <frown>
I followed advice to remove the Apple Software Update program, reboot and re-run the msi. That did not resolve the failure.
I then followed advice to set permissions for Administrators on registry key HKLM\Software\Micorosoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData\S-1-5-18\Com ponents
then reboot and run the update msi again. This also did not resolve the failure.
I downloaded the installer from the Apple download site as though it were a fresh install, and - voila! - it installed correctly and all content and settings were preserved. Hopefully that is all that is needed, not the steps above. Let me know! http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ -
Hp slate 7 voice tab, kitkat update
I have this problem with my hp slate 7 voice tab. When I installed the kitkat update, my tablet kept on rebooting and then it stops and shows options or ways I could fix the issue. I tried every single option and it still does not work. I have been waiting for a solution since january. I hope someone can help me.
Hello @levzkane,
I would suggest performing a System Recovery on your device. Please refer to the following instructions:
Performing a system recovery on the HP Slate 6 VoiceTab and Slate 7 VoiceTab
In order to perform Recovery, you will need to download the Restore Image for your device here:
HP Slate 7 6101ra VoiceTab - Software & Drivers
Good luck & hope this helps!

Droid Razr M: KitKat update problems
Hi there, I have a few questions/problems with my Droid Razr M since the KitKat update was pushed to my device a few days ago.
1. I was on vacation in Europe (Austria/Hungary/Croatia) when the update was delivered to my device. I think the download happened in Austria or Hungary. Now I appear to have a non-US version of the update on my phone. For example, Airplane Mode is called "Aeroplane Mode", and so on. Do I have the correct version of the update? I'd like the version applicable to US phones. Can I re-download it somehow, now that I'm back in the US, and correct this?
2. Bluetooth no longer pairs with my BMW X1. My phone does not even see the car in available devices.
3. WiFi does not work with Bluetooth enabled. My phone will recognize my home/work networks, but will only say "saved", and not connect. I am reading that this seems to be a known issue. I use Bluetooth for my Fitbit and my car (referenced above). I cannot just go to 5G because my work WiFi does not have a 5G option (my home network does have the 5G option). I also would like to be able to use WiFi in public places like I did before the update.
Please let me know how to address these three issues. Thanks!I had some hiccups when I got the upgrade to my LG G2. I know others have had problems with their KK updates, on Samsungs and even HTC.
I believe the KK upgrade, while in the ideal should leave the phone running perfectly under the new operating system will potentially fail because of the variation in how people use their devices and what they've downloaded, and the fact that some memory isn't initialized properly when the new OS loads onto the device. This is true regardless of phone manufacturer, OS upgrade, and even carrier. I think this is a reality with Android.
I think the only option is to perform what is called a "Factory Data Reset". But first you should backup any important photos, music, or videos, or other downloaded files. You should also jot down where you've placed icons, and even the settings for things like mail (incoming and outgoing server).
After an FDR, you'll have to do some work to get your device back running to a state you are comfortable and familiar with. In my experience, doing maybe 10updates over the years on 4 Android phones, about 40% of the time I didn't need to do an FDR. 60% of the time I did.
It is also possible there are some bugs in the new software load, but a good many of these odd behaviors, across a range of devices (LG, Samsung, Motorola, HTC) occur because people did not perform an FDR following the update.

Windows Server 2008 R2 updates fail - error code 80071A30
One of our windows 2008 servers has recently failed to install any updates.
I have tried the following solutions but non have worked.
1. Cleaning up the SoftwareDistribution folder.
2. Fixed some errors using WindowsUpdateDiagnostic.diagcab
3. Installed the System update readiness tool. the CheckSUR.log detects no errors.
Still all updates fail with error code 80071A30
Here's a link to the CBS.log and CheckSUR.log
http://speedy.sh/WHYkP/logs.7z
It may be worth mentioning that WSUS is installed on this machine. When updateing, cabs are downloaded from itself and it has always been like this without any problem. I have even tried updating directly from Microsoft servers without success. There is
though a difference when checking for updates directly from Microsoft in which the windows update first asks to update itself. the same error occurs anyway. Here's the first 130 lines of CBS.log
