KM content, Collaboration in 7.1 CE?

Hi,
The KM content, Collaboration is not seen in 7.1 CE unlike the 7.0. Do I need to install these components separately? How?
Thanks in advance,
Naveen

Hi Naveen,
You will have to use the 7.0 portal for KM & collaboration. You do not have them in CE portal.
CE portal is a light weight portal with limited functionalities which are usually integrated into an SAP NetWeaver 7.0 Portal through Federated Portal Network concept. But Only the producer capabilities of the Portal are supported in SAP NetWeaver CE and not the consumer capabilities. Hence in your use case, if your aim is to view KM functionality in CE, it is not possible even by FPN.
You can only create the available iViews etc in CE portal and view them in 7.0 portal if you want.
Hence the main portal would be 7.0 (having KM) and other content from CE would be displayed in it using RDL or RRA features of FPN.
Hope this clarifies.
Regards,
Anagha
P.S. the link in above prior refers to using CE as consumer for KM. Thanks Raghu for sharing that this way CE portal can act as a consumer of content. Though I haven't gone through the link completely, looks like CAF could be configured for Knowledge Management Integration to view KM applications into CE.

Working Collaboratively Across Teams – Scenario Installation Guide
    1     Purpose
The purpose of this scenario is to provide an example of how SAP Enterprise Portal can enable your teams to work collaboratively – within the same functional team, or across functional teams with the use of the Collaboration Launch Pad (CLP).
Following you will find the information on how you can install this scenario. The Scenario Installation Guide provides you with the information you need to set up your business scenario configuration.
Note that the installation documentation for SAP Best Practices business scenarios is structured on two levels:
    •     Scenario Installation Guide: one document for a business scenario
    •     Building Block Configuration Guide: one document for a building block, but several documents for a scenario installation
The Scenario Installation Guide is the backbone of the installation documentation and describes which building blocks you need to install for this scenario and prescribes the order you have to follow when you install them.
For the installation of each building block, you have to refer to the corresponding Building Block Configuration Guide where you can find detailed configuration procedures of this building block.
Always use the Scenario Installation Guide (this document) as the starting point for all your installation activities.
For a successful installation of the entire scenario, it is important:
    •     that you follow the structure in the Scenario Installation Guide from the first to the last installation activity
    •     that you carry out all installation activities of a building block before you start with the next building block.
    2     Prerequisites
    •     You have a live SAP R/3 backend system.
    •     SAP GUI installed on your machine to use Win GUI iView.
    •     You have read the essential document, Building Block N00: Essential Information.
    •     You have the End User role (eu_role) assigned to your user.
    Collaboration Launch Pad: Activate Link:
The Collaboration Launch Pad (CLP) allows portal users to manage their contacts and launch services for collaboration. Users click a link in the tool area of the portal header to launch the CLP.
If you want to display the link to launch the CLP in the portal header after installing the Collaboration component, you must activate it manually in the attributes for the tool area of the default framework page.

  • SharePoint 2013 with Yammer & Jive Comparison for social networking features

My client purchased Jive, is there any space to increase the use of SP's social networking default features or with yammer?
Can SP handshake Jive to work in both products seamlessly?
    Sumeet Singhal

    Hi Sumeet ,
Just a supplement for SharePoint  with Yammer & Jive Comparison.
Using Yammer with SharePoint is similarly simple. For Enterprise SharePoint Online/Office 365 users, a Yammer Web part, or reusable component, exists that integrates feeds from each, and embeds Yammer access
in the SharePoint site menu ribbon. Yammer provides a simple to use, intuitive platform for enterprise  collaboration within the social networking information model. Yammer takes a crowd-sourcing approach to  knowledge management in the enterprise
by allowing users to leverage  powerful tagging and content collaboration tools to communicate and  capture information and expertise.
Jive has matured into a developer-friendly technology that can be integrated with other platforms (including SharePoint) without much difficulty. In addition, the Jive platform includes functionality that Yammer
doesn't -- data analytics, most importantly. And with its last year Producteev and Meetings.io acquisitions, it's adding chat and video conferencing functionality that Yammer will have difficulty matching.
For more information, you can refer to the article:
Yammer vs. Jive: You can't always get what you want
    Hope that helps!

    Vinit,
use the concept of Taxonomies..I had a similar scenario where I used taxonomies to simplify the hierarchy of folders in KM for better search capabilities...you have example and query based taxonomies....let me know if that helps...

  • Integrating SVN into Bridge

I am attempting to find a way to integrate SVN into Bridge. What I would like to achieve is similar functionality to tortoise SVN client, with context menu options as well as indication icons for the state of local copy files.
has anyone done this before? could someone who is more familiar with scripting for bridge please point me in the right direction?

Have you looked in the OPM Help? The OPM Help and the OPA Help are almost always the best places to start for any OPA/OPM question.
The OPM Help is available locally if you have OPM installed (Help menu from within OPM, or the Oracle Policy Modeling section of Start | Programs on your machine). It is also available online from the OPA OTN website. Here's the direct link to the OPM 10.2 Help: http://docs.oracle.com/html/E20340_01/toc.htm
A search on the term "subversion" in the OPM 10.2 Help turns up many articles, e.g.
Track rulebase changes on multi-developer projects: http://docs.oracle.com/html/E20340_01/Content/Collaborating/Track_rulebase_changes.htm
Retrieve a specific document version: http://docs.oracle.com/html/E20340_01/Content/Collaborating/Retrieve_a_specific_document_version.htm
Connect or disconnect a project with source control: http://docs.oracle.com/html/E20340_01/Content/Collaborating/Connect_or_disconnect_project_with_source_control.htm
Track versions of rulebase documents: http://docs.oracle.com/html/E20340_01/Content/Collaborating/Track_versions_of_rule_documents.htm
Open a rulebase project from source control: http://docs.oracle.com/html/E20340_01/Content/Collaborating/Open_a_rulebase_project_from_source_control.htm
Include extra files in the build: http://docs.oracle.com/html/E20340_01/Content/Compiling%20and%20building/Include_extra_files_in_the_build.htm

  • Need few options in CLP

    Hi,
I would like to assign CLP to end user, he has to get options "instant message","send Email","share application"
Remaininig stuff i dont want to give it to enduser.
    How could i do this...
    kindly let me knw...
    Regards,
    Venkat

    Hello!
Please check your commands that you use in the CLP.
Content Administration->Collaboration Content->Collaboration Launch Pad Administration
There you can find the command group "clpGroup".
In this groups you find other groups, remove all that you not want.
Also look if you have mapped the correct Type:
    clpType --> clpGroup

  • RTMFMessaging causes performance problem

    Hi,
We have a performance problem with the component:
    EP:KM:COLL:class com.sap.ip.collaboration.core.api.rtmf.core.RTMFMessaging.ReceiveJMSQueue
This component according to the Request overview is executing literally billions of requests each day. It is also not closing many of the requests. I wondered if anyone could give some hints as to performance settings for RTMF in a load-balanced landscape that would prevent this behaviour?
We have a Central Instance with 3 nodes, each running a web dispatcher and 4 application servers in a load-balanced environment - so it's meant to be a high availability Portal until this problem makes it fall over!
The symptoms are also that the performance degrades over time as the RTMF requests are not always closed, until they consume enough resources that the system stops responding.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks, Marc

    Hi
As one of the authors has mentioned previously this is not a problem but the way RTMF framework works.  It has a polling mechanism that polls the server for messages.
By default this polling mechnism is set to Constant Interval which is set to 3 seconds.  So the RTMF will poll the server for messages every 3 seconds.  However, depending on the number of users etc this polling mechanism can be changed to Linear Interval or maximum HPS (see SAP Help for further information).
This can be changed under: System Admin > System Config > KM Content > Collaboration > RTC > RTC Engine > Polling Policy
You can certainly look at changing these!  If you have changed this already and still having problems with the requests get back to SDN.
    Cheers
    Ankit

  • UWL triggers polling mechanism

    Hello,
our UWL triggers a polling mechanism which runs every 3 seconds.
Do you know how to change the duration between two of these pollings?
    Following servlets are invoked:
    rtmfCommunicator/rtmfPollingServlet

to change the default polling interval.
In the portal, navigate to Content Administration >Collaboration Content>Collaboration Launch Pad Administration. Then, under Related Links, choose Configure Real-Time Collaboration>RTC Engine> RTCEngine.
Alternatively, you can navigate to System Administration>System Configuration>Collaboration. Then, under Folders, navigate to Collaboration>Real-Time Collaboration (RTC)>RTC Engine-->RTCEngine.

    Hi,
Download, u201Ccom.sap.netweaver.coll.demo.sdn_cs_outlook.paru201D from SDN Network and store it in local machine.  Then upload this par file in to portal.
After uploading the PAR file, it will automatically appear in Link Commands. Go to Content Administration --> Collaboration Content --> Collaboration Launch Pad Administration --> Link Command
Now we need to add Outlook Options in to Command Group. Navigate to Content Admin  Collaboration Content  Collaboration Launch Pad Admin -->Command Group >Select clpgroup> Add clpoutlookmail, clpoutlookmeeting, clpoutlooktask.  It will appear in the CLP.

  • Custom Portal Business Card

    Hi
How can I customize the Standard Business Card iView in portal?
I dont want the link thats displayed on the top of the iView, like create appointment, send email...
    Is this possible?
    Regards
    BP

    Hi Detlev,
    Thanks for the link.
I have gone to Content Administration->Collaboration Content->Collaboration Launch Pad Administration->Command Group->User Details Group and removed the links which i don't require. I removed links for showing availability, instant messaging and create appointment. Well, i am not sure that it will suit my req as i have to restart the server which requires more admin processes. But, what my concern now is, the same features are available in the <b>context menu </b>of the user name. So now my question is, how to edit that context menu, in the sense to remove it completely or retaining only some features there. Looking forward for ur reply
    Thanks in advance
    BP
