KM Content Management Documents
Hello,
At this time I have a single CM repository DB, in which we are storing the documents of the Company. We will incorporate more and different sections of our company and the quantity of documents will grow in an important way and the final users have different needs ( for example: different properties metadata).
We look for your recommendation or experience, on what is the best option to use one or several CM repositories?
Thanks in advance.
Best Regards.
Probably you can go for single CM repository, becouse rather than having multiple repository, you can eassly mententian single repository by useing different types of Persistence Modes :
DB Mode
DBFS Mode
FSDB Mode
EVen SAP recommend DBFS mode if you want to manage large amounts of data.
Hope it will help u

I have the few questions regarding Content Management in SAP CRM:
I am using SAP CRM 4.0, SP 7.
The requirement is as follows:
A legacy system has say 40 accounts (having various fields) and all the accounts have multiple documents for each account. All the documents are residing in a file server. This scenario has to be replicated in SAP CRM.
I have uploaded the accounts data in BP master data using Legacy System Migration Workbench tool (transaction LSMW).
Now, coming to the documents, I want to use the Documents tab of BP in SAP CRM to attach all the documents for a particular account. For this, I want to know is there any function module or BAPI or report using which I can attach the documents corresponding to the particular BPs. The aim is to get the list of documents from the file server to the SAP CRM content management and attach those to the respective BPs.
(I looked into the class CL_CRM_DOCUMENTS, but I am not able to get the exact methods or function modules which can used for this purpose)
Since, I will be using the Documents tab of Business Partner to attach the documents. I would like to know how can I add a few custom attributes to the SAP CRM content management documents; these attributes are in addition to the already existing attributes like, Created By, Default Doc, Expiry time; Language, Name etc.
(I think I can do this using Document Modeling Workbench (transaction DMWB); but I am not able to do this. Can you please list the steps on how to do this?)
Also, once the custom attributes are added I would like to know which database table(s) gets enhanced so that I can fill the attribute values and see the same on the screen.
(I was able to get one table SDOKPHCL, which has all the attribute fields but dont know if this is correct and if there are other tables as well).
Best Regards,
SaurabhHello
I found your message in the forum and we are studying exactly the same question at the moment. I wonder if you found a solution to your question. We need to import documents to the documents tab of BP in CRM as well. Did you find a suitable function module or some other solution for this?
We are also searching database tables relevant for the documents and the link between BP and documents. Do you know anything about this?
Thanks in advance,

Hello Everyone,
We are looking to roll out portal integration to our CRM system using the PC-UI iViews. The customer is wanting to utilize the Content Management functionality within the PC-UI/CRM application.
What I am interested in is configuring CRM to STORE the documents from the PC-UI into the KM Repository. There is documentation that describes how to setup a KM WebDAV Repository to view documents stored in CRM through KM. We want to do the opposite and store the CRM documents directly in KM.
My hypothesis is that there is WebDAV support in both products and I 'should' be able to configure CRM to look at KM as 'just an other WebDAV' repository (a'la Content Server)
Ideas? Confusion?Hi Robetro and Craig,
Can you please let me know if you have found a solution for this.
I have a similar requirement wherein I need to store CRM Content Management documents in KM.
Thanks in advance.

How to use documents like pictures, stored on content management in forms
Hi,
We store on content management as an attachment, and in relations with a marketing campaign, an image which represents the campaign. We developed a smartform which restores the data of the campaign and we want to insert the image about which I speak above. It seems that the documents stored on content management are not stored on a physical path but that they are it in cluster tables and thus I does not see how can I post this image in the smartform which we have to create. Thus I seek somebody who would have the solution of this problem.
Best regards,
Jean-Baptiste ButatI do not know or have time right now to look up NDP format.
To write to NTFS from Mac, you need a driver.
And to write to HFS from Windows also.
I strongly recommend Paragon drivers for both.
That way you can access anything from any platform.

I wish there was some way to emulate the mouse from

We have various approval processes set up for various
folders. The proper groups and steps are defined.
When the user creates a piece of content in the folder
they can click on the command menu or details and submit
it for approval.
After some time, we are receiving a NullPointerException
whenever we try to submit something for approval or skip
the approval process. It never gets to UWL. When we
look in the logs we see the error below. When we
restart the server, we are able to submit for approval
and skip with approval without any issues. After some
time however, this issue arises again.

CRM Content Management in CRM 2007
Currently, we are upgrading our CRM system from 4.0 to CRM 2007. In 4.0 this is how, we used to assign the content management alias in IMG.
CRM->Basic Functions->Content management->Define Alias for MS office Integration in the People-Centric.
What should we do in CRM 2007?
Secondly, we used to Define Document templates in the following way.
CRM->Basic Functions -> Content Management -> Define document Templates
This path in IMG is missing. Is there any other alternete way in CRM 2007.
Thirdly, in 4.0, we implemented the BAdi CRM_DOC_TEMPL_BADI for custom attributes and filters. How is it done in CRM 2007?
I greatly appreciate your kind answer.
AnnaHi Anna,
When you say "Letters View", are you talking about the assignment block "Attachments". I dont see any letters view in my Sales role.
Regarding your other question,
One thing is that I don't see a connectivity between the IMG activity and the object designed in the Template designer. Am I missing something else?
Well in the customizing we are barely defining anything apart from the transaction type. This transaction type has a Business Category say-BUS2000126.
Now in the template designer we are saying that we are defining the webtemplate for the BO BUS2000126..Thats how they get linked. All the BUS2000126 objects will have that link then.
Let me try configuring it for BUS1006 object as is in your case.
Thanks,

How does your portal's content management work? Are you happy with it?
It would be great if there was some sharing of how people have configured their content and document management through the portal, and how happy they are. I'm assuming almost everyone is on Publisher and Collab, but do you use them in a special way? Anything customized?
I'm currently looking for ways to make our system more flexible and easier to create new content areas. Also, uploading documents is a huge pain.
Html Content: Publisher
Customizations:
We include edit pencils at the top of each content item visible for people with edit access to the community.
FCKeditor instead of default rich text editor, with image upload
links to KD cards and community pages are transformed into adaptive tags on save
Issues
There is clear separation between what a 'content editor' and a 'community manager' is able to create. Any creation of new portlets or changing of anything falls on the community manager. Content editor feels very restricted as they only have control over what is inside the boxes, and can't create new 'pages'. This leads to stale content.
Documents: Collaboration
We use collab for documents because we want to be able to publish different versions of the same doc to the KD, without breaking any links that we have created to that existing document. We use snapshot queries sometimes to display documents, but more ofthen than not we just use a KD picker to display a single document, and this means we need to be able to update the card without breaking the link.
Issues
Training users to go to collab to upload documents is not easy, and then publishing is difficult as well. There is no multi-document publish. Publishing sometimes fails and times out, and the document can be deleted from collab and still exist in the KD. Also, custom properties that we add to cards in the KD seem to vanish, but hopefully upgrading to the latest versions will help.
I'd like to investigate creating helper functions to make the job of uploading documents to the correct folder in collab easier. The tool would upload to the right folder, and then publish to the KD if necessary.Very good thread!
We are using publisher for web content as well as documents.
The documents are crawled into the KD using the publisher crawler, and we use a "link to document" custom button that build automatically the PT:Tag link to the KD card that represents the crawled document.
So really all the links to documents stay valid only if the KD card are not deleted and recreated...(otherwise, the links are broken...and i did not find a better way to handle this better yet)
We also use the "Edit/Create" buttons for all our publisher content in order to allow content editors easy access to the publisher content to edit/add.
The main pain points we have is that the preview is not very useful...previewing only the content of your portlet does not give you a feel of what the complete portal page will look with your new content. If there was a way to view the portal page (with all the publisher portlets on it) in preview mode, THAT would be useful.
And because of this, content managers are not very comfortable to create/edit the content in PROD directly (because they really want to see the end product of their editing process...i.e. the final portal page) and i don't blame them...
Which leads to another huge pain point: When creating content in Staging for example, it is hard to push it to PROD when ready. And even if you use the import/export feature (which is not great either because you can only export folder instead of being able to pick and chose the content you want to export), you need to have someone (infrastructure person who have access to servers) move the publisher export zip file...which makes the whole process more cumbersome than it should be, really.
Publisher should be multi-environment aware...What i mean is that it would be great if a single publisher instance would allow to push the content to different environments (i.e. STG first, and then when it looks good PROD) as the content mature towards production state. (products like Documentum -I know it is not the same planet compared to publisher but still...- do this flawlessly)
Last the free text editor is not awesome and i don't like that when you add a link to another item or image, it automatically puts the absolute path in there...that makes it harder to migrate.
I have not tried to replace the free text editor...What is your experience with FCKEditor??

Transactionality in Content Management Operations
We're using WebLogic Portal 10.3's built-in content management mechanism backed by Oracle 10g. A lot of our use cases involve the creation of more than one node within a single service call (creating a document and multiple links to it, for example).
If possible, we'd like to rollback previous creates if a later create fails. Worst case scenario we can use compensating transactions to delete the new nodes, but it would be nice to have it automatically.
Does INodeManager.addNode respect transaction boundaries? Or do we need to go the compensating transaction route?
Thanks for the help,
Dan TurkenkopfHi Dan,
The answer is repository-specific. The OOTB repository doesn't support user-transactions and you'll likely run into database locking issues if you try. You'll have to handle this case on your own.
