KM Content Transport

Hi Experts,
I would like to know howmany ways we can transport the KM Content  and what are they ? Which is the best way and fast way of transporting the content ?
We have lot of data need to transport taking time using "WebFolders".  We are using Persistence mode DB for the repository.
Could any one help me on this ?
Regards,
Jyothi

Use ICE Offline transfer for transporting the KM content. Before using this same repository must exist in both the landscapes. If not first transport the KM repositories.
Below guide will help step by step
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/802c1739-d270-2910-ad9f-f369de07c1bf
For Exporting the KM content
1) Go to root->ice-> syndicator->global offer
There you will find two folders(complete package and Differnetial package)
2) Create an internal link (the folder link will come in global offer folder)
you can create as many folder internal links as you like
3) Finally click Complete package. it will open a new window and ask to save the fullupdate.zip file.
4) save that file in your desktop
For import
1) go to the target system
2) Go to the path content management -> content exchange ->package upload
3) upload the fullupdate.zip file.
4) done
complete package will import all the content
differential package will import only the updated content.
Please follow the steps clearly in the document that I sent.

  • Folders affected after KM Content Transport using ICE Methodology

    Hi All,
I am encountering a strange behaviour when I use ICE methodology to Transport KM Content.
When I migrate a particular folder using ICE package, the folder gets transported successfully to the target system, but after the Transport, the other folders in the target system are getting affected.
Can anyone tell me the reason for this starnge behaviour of ICE package.
Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Adren

    Follow below defined process
    Go to -
    >Content Administration--->KM Content->go to ice(folder)->go to Syndicator->go to Global Offer> Clear (delete) all folder shortcut links>above breadcum you will see Folder command click there-> Select New>Select Link>Browse and select the folder you want to transport->select the folder link and click on Complete Package--> file will be downloaded
This file you can upload in other server through Content Management---->Package Upload---> Browse and select file and upload
I think you must be doing the same process but you might not be clearing old folder links which can cause the problem and replace other folders whose link is there available in Global Offer folder.(This step in process is highlighted with underline)
Just Clear and try once ....

  • KM content transported once is not transporting again

    Hi Experts,
I have a problem in ICE online transfer.
    Let me explain you clearly.
I transported ABC folder  from one portal system to other using ICE - online method.  that is
source path is /documents/abc   and destination path is  /documents/xyz/abc    All the content is transported successfully.
Now I want to transport  to destination path  /documents/abc  in target system. I configured corectly but it is not happening.
Same problem I am facing with other folders also. The content that is transported once is not transporting again. once fully transported it is doing only incremental update but not full update.
How can I transfer full update again using ICE - online.   Is there any possibility of removing cache.
Any kind of hint will be appreciated.

  • Is it possible to do portal content transports through System landscape?

    Hello,
In order to transport content from portal A to portal B I am currently using transport packages: export the content from portal A, download it to the local PC and import it to portal B. The process is working OK but I still have a question:
SAP are transferring all the control on their systems to the System landscape, for example Java developments. My question is if it is also possible to make these transports through the system landscape so no local PCs are involved in the process?

    Hi Roy,
You are right in the point that development projects can be transported, using the NWDI, centrally managed through the system landscape.
Nevertheless, the PCD transports (EPA) have to be touched manually anyhow. Theoretically, you can set up an SDA and put an EPA into it, see http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/a3/782240da03e569e10000000a155106/frameset.htm for details.
But this only really makes sense if you want to transport your own application together with the portal configuration (iViews representing your application...).
So in the end, PCD transports are designated to be transported as you are used to - manually via the export / import function of the portal.
    Hope it helps

  • Portal Content Transport help!

    Hi,
I created some "Remote Delta Links" in my Development Portal that point to IViews on my Dev BI System.  When I transport the "Remote Delta Links" from my Dev Portal to my Prd Portal the reference is still to my Dev BI System.
Why would they still be point to my Dev Producer when transported to my Production Portal?  Sounds like a transport configuration issue.
    Anyone?

Hmmm..  It looks like the Producer on the Development Portal and the Production Portal have to have the same name!
Unlike in non-portal BI transports where the Development ID is changed over to the Production ID...
read step 1 real carefully at this link.

  • Portal content Transport Packages Export/Import Question.

    Hi,everyone:
I have a problem when Export packages of portal content, the epa-file is correct on the server however become error after download from the server to localhost.
The bug is Function of Download itself,if anyone have meet this case and help me. I need your help!
    Regard!
    Fish

    Hi Ree,
As I mentioned in my previous reply it is working perfectly for me. The import is creating the required files in the PCD.
Let me explain how it is done.
    Create a TP
Create a folder and add the required files(Workset, pages, iviews etc) to the the folder.
add the folder with all the contents(select 'Add all objects to transport package' from the content menu) to the TP.
Export the TP. give a name of your choice(removing the numbers)
Download it to the local machine using the dowmload link.
the file will be saved as a <i>TPName</i>.epa in your local drive.
in import, select 'client' for Source for Package Files.
brose and select the <i>TPName</i>.epa file.
upload the file, and you can see the contents.
then import it to the new environment. Now the complete folder stucture will be created in the PCD exactly as you created it for the TP.
I hope you are doing like this. It should work
Are yo able to open the downloaded file with WinZip?
    cheers

  • KM Content - Transport issue

    Hi,
I have created some KM Content (Directory structure like folders, sub folders) in our Dev environment and then assigned them to Iviews.
Every thing is working good, but I have transported the iViews to Quality but the directory structure like folders and sub folders are not transported. I am seeing the old structure in Quality.
I am transporting my iviews through transport packages and then export. I have checked that my iViews are transported properly but not the KM content.
Could you please suggest how to transport the folders/sub folders which I made in Dev.
    Thanks,

Thanks, my issue is resolved and now I have the folders in QAS which I have in Dev.
Now i have one more question.
In this process all of our Dev Test documents which we have upload for testing purpose, were also moved. Now Do we need to move the same thing or production or we need to export one more time in Qas and then import that file.
Because I think if we move the existing export file to PROD which was moved to QAS, then we will have our test files moved to produciton - which we don't want.
What is the recommended way to achieve this.
    Thanks,

  • EP content transport : Transaction Iviews not coming up....All others ok

    Dear all
We have made a transport package to move content from dev to QA. All the iviews, roles, worksets are coming up fine in the QA server but for some strange reason, transaction Iviews are not coming up and an "yellow icon" indicating "link not available" is coming up .
while transporting no errors were thrown and it showed zero errors.
Kindly let me know if any one encountered such a error during transport.
    Regards
    Jayesh

The related template on which the transaction iview was based was not present. Once corrected everything went fine

  • PCD Content Transport Issues

    Hi All,
We have an issue while transporting PCD content.
The PCD content is the delta link copy of the Business Package (from Content Provided by SAP folder). We have copied the standard content to custom folder as delta link and did few modifications on the roles.
NOTE: The name space of the PCD content is not changed. It remains "com.sap.pct"
We were able to transport this successfully to the quality portals earlier via CTS transport process.
Now, we had a change to make in the development and after making the change when we are trying to transport the content via CTS, it is not getting imported to the Q portals.
I have searched on the transport set up and limitations and came to know that any PCD object with sap namespace would not be exported to the package. But, I was able to export the content to the transport request earlier as well as now. Earlier, when we did this, it got successfully imported to the Q portals. But, now it is throwing error.
We are using SAP NW Portal 7.3.
****Also, can any one please help me understand if this transport limitation of not able to transport PCD objects with sap namespace applies to 'File System' mode of transport as well? I am asking this because we are able to transport successfully via File System transport.
Thanks in advance for all your replies and support regarding this.
    Regards,
    Murthy.

    hi
You can only export resource bundles if you have write permission for these objects. You can find resource bundles in the Portal Catalog by calling them with System Administration ® Permissions. All administrators other than the superadministrator can access the folder for the resource bundles as „read-only“ in the standard delivery.

  • KM Content Transport using ICE Methodology

    Hi All,
I would like to transport KM content from Development to Production system.
    I have done following steps
    1. System Administration -> System Configuration -> Repository Managers - > Advanced Oprons -> Content Exchange Repository - > uncheck "Hode in Root Folder"
    2. Content Administration ->KM Content ->ice ->Syndicator -> Global Offer
Folder->New->Link ( i am not abel to see link option) i can only see Folder, Upload, text File, HTML File, External Link, Forms.
do i need to set command settings?
    Regards,
    Murali

    Dear Murali,
I suggest you to carry on ICE online transfer .
In offline downloading the package to your local system and then moving it to the syndicator would some time cause difficulty based on the package size ,also some properties would not be transferred as desired.
To carry ICE online follow the steps
    1.In your syndicator portal
create an offer under content management/content exchange/syndicator/offers.
save the offer and create the offer component for your offer (the content which you want to transfer).
    2.In the subsciber portal
    content management/content exchage/subscriber registered syndicator/
    create a new connection .
give url of the syndicator.(you can see this information in your syndicator system.   content mgmt /content exchange /syndicator/properties).
specify the user id password details of the syndicator user.
then from get catalog select your offer and continue with the remaining details.
this establishes the connection between the syndicator and subscriber.
3.now move to the syndicator portal
    Content mgmt/content exchange
    syndicator/registered subscribers  select your subscription
    configure push ,
specify the user details of your subsciber portal.
This will transfer all your contents from syndicator to portal along with the metadata properties,ACL lists. etc

  • Pcd content transport

    Hi,
I am transporting the content from dev to qa. I was looking into pcdstartup.properties.. found a couple which i didnt understand.
    1. Pcd.TransportApplication.Export.ExcludeSystemObjects
in doc, it is said that it  decides whether or not the objects in the SAP namespace initially delivered by SAP are excluded from the export.
    but the property
Pcd.TransportApplication.ProtectedNamespaces already provides that, i.e. this already avoids the exporting of portal content in com.sap namespace.
could someone please distingush between these two,
    2. Pcd.TransportApplication.Export.ExcludeObjectTypes
    AfterRuleProcessing
    and Pcd.TransportApplication.Export.
    ExcludeObjectTypes
the difference would be transporitng resource bundles, but why would someone just transport resource bundles in a par file, without transporting the actual par file.
could some please clarify this to me
    thank you

  • Bus Content Transport

    Hi,
I want to activate an infocube and infosource in dev, and then transport it to prod. when i activate them it doesnt ask for any transport req. How do i assign this bus content obj to a req or it is that in prod also i have to activate the bus content.
    Thank you,
    sam

Just click on the Transport Object button near grouping. It will ask you for the transport request. Assign the already created request, or create new one, and assign it.
Now u can check your request in se09/se10 tcodes. Now u jusy have to release it.
