KM discussion iview customization

Hi All,
I am trying to customize the default KM Discussion iView. I was not able to figure out a way to remove the buttons "New Discussion Topic", "Delete All Topics". How to achieve this?

Hi Yogalakshmi
As Jon has mentioned you can modify the Commandgroup/or create your own command group
First you create a custom Layoutset
Duplicate DiscussionGroups Layoutset
Then Duplicate DiscussionGroupCollectionCommandGroup
From the List of coomands, remove those you don't want.
Also duplicate the collection renderer which refers to the "DiscussionGroupCollectionCommandGroup" and refer your Command group in the collection renderer

How do I customize my Discussions iViews?

Hi all,
I am using EP6.0 SP2 Patch2 HotFix2.
I want to customize my KM Discussions iViews.
In every such iView, there is a heading "Discussion" at the top and a short description of the discussion below that. This is standard for any Discussions iView and can be switched off from iView Property Editor so that both the heading and description don't appear.
I want to customize both the heading as well as the description for all such iViews. In case a discussion iView has been created to discuss about a KM resource, say a file giving demographic statistics of a country, then the discussion should be aptly titled "Country XXXXXXXXX: Population Statistics and its Impact" and maybe a short description prepared by me could go below that.
I couldn't find anything about this.
Anybody got any ideas on this one?

How to use the km Discussion iViews in the enterprise portal

hi ,
i need to create a discussion forum in the EP.
i want to make a KM discussion iview and then to customize it so that the look and feel is also changed.
i am not getting how should i start?Is PDK development needed for this?

Here u will get Step by Step Solution for creation of Discussion forum.
Now to change look and feel of ur Forum or say discaussion Iview Template u have to open template Par File in NWDS and can play with it (Codeing) to get desired output.
I will sugest u to not to go with Discusasion Forum if u r haveing EP Ver7.0 then u can go for Installation of Forums on ur Portal.

How can i change the Layout of the standard Discussion iVIew

Hello all,
Most of my questions still remain unanswered.But this time i hope i will get some satisfactory reply. I want to create a Discussion iView(not Discussion group or Admin Discussion Group iViews) . However i am not getting the layout used here.I want to remove buttons like "Add To Favourites" Subscribe TO Discussion" and also ,once you click on any topic ,on the second screen commands like "Send To","Subscribe" etc .I want this to look simple as per requirement.How is that possible? Where exactly can i find them ? If there is any xml file ,where to find the XML file ?I do not know how to use NWDS ,as i work in KM and Collaboration area .SO if there is anyone who can guide me from configuraion point of view.I can also open the XML file and do the changes but how to execute it I do not know.Thanks in advance for any valuable input.

Portal iview Customization for Webdynpro Java CTRL+ Right Click in Preview

Hi Team,
I am able to hide some Web Dynpro UI elements from Portal Content Administration >> Web Dynpro iView >> Preview and by Pressing CTRL+RIGHT CLICK.
Here I need to understand the concept like how things work in this case. If we hide some UI in Web Dynpro Java iView customization will there not be any RFC/BAPI calls associated with that particular UI
For Example: Web Dynpro iView is made up of CompA and CompB and I am going to hide the UI associated with CompA. When I invoke the application will there not be any activity like invoking CompA calling associated RFC/BAPI etc related to CompA
Please help me in understand the concepts and performance implications on this.

Hi Sudhir,
Great Question! :-)... I am not 100% sure, but my guess would be that you would still see the associated BAPI/RFC calls since the "hiding" of the fields is purely a UI feature done using the Portal PCD.
However you can of course test this for your scenario, by running an RFC trace for your user in the ECC system and then run the WDJ application and see if you see the RFC calls or not (more or less depending on the hidden/visible status of your component).

It is simple, if you are working on the "KM Discussion Groups Contributor iView" you can participate in a group discussion.
For Example : How can we improve the performance of our sales team
If this is a discussion that is posted, you can be a part of it and post your comments to this discussion.
And if you are working with the admin iview, it will have the authority to delete some discussions, for example, if somebodys post is not in the context, you can delete it or if you want to you can delete the discussion itself.

Integrating Page Title iview and Discussion Iview

Hi,
We have assigned the customized Default Framework Page to the 'Everyone' group wherein we have removed
the Page title bar Iview. So the users dont have the option of the 'History' and 'Back' buttons available on that iview.
We dont want to make this iview available to all pages as it is consuming some space.Our problem lies here:
In the Room Directory page, We get the list of available rooms. When any of the available rooms are clicked, it takes us to
the Discussion iview. Here, since there is no Page title bar available, the users are not able to navigate backwards.It is only
here that we want to make the Page title bar iview available.But since on clicking on any of the rooms, it takes us
directly to the Discussion iview and not a Page, we are not able to integrate the Page title bar iview.
Please help us in this regard.

Even I was trying for the solution which you have suggested but the problem is how to call the new page which contains the discussion iview because, by default, all the rooms show the link which points to the original Discussion iView. How can we change the link to point to the new page.
Also is there any other provision of adding a 'Back' button.

Hello all,
I have created a KM discussion iview. Now I want to change the layout of the iView in terms of the information text, and also disable a few buttons like delete and subscribe. Can someone please shed some light on how this can be done?
I see a KM discussion iView .ept file, do I have to do anything there?

Hi Paddie,
check out this thread: problem with discussion group contributor iview
You can use your own LayoutSet in the Discussion iView where you can remove some commands from the used Command Groups in order to "disable a few buttons". You need to follow my descriptions in order to get the discussion iView to use only your LayoutSets.

Please I understand that the KM Discussion Group Contributors iView is for have discussions outside rooms, and also I have the KM Discussions iView option for have hierarchy discussions. I want to know which is the best option because I think both are for the same objetive, or what is the difference?

It's my Task to Creat a forum in Potal.
How should I do? I could only use Discussion iView
because My limit knowlegde! So i must Creat many page
and iVeiw.

Hi There,
There is no need for you to create iviews and pages. Portal comes up with COLLABORATION CONTENT that would cater your requirement to create a forum. Here you can create your forum and maintain it.

Discussion iView Access Error

Hello,
I have been trying to preview discussion iView under com.sap.ip.collaboration. But, even after having super-admin access, the portal says "you do not have access permission" to preview the iView.
I even tried creating a copy of the iView and previewing it. Even that is not helping out.
I am currently working on EP 6.0 SP15.

I can very well use KM Discussions iView. But I need to create a room template of my own, for which I need to use the discussion page which has this Discussion iview.

MSS iview Customization in SAP R/3 4.7

we are running on SAP R/3 4.7 version. and we had deployed the MSS Business package into our SAP Netweaver portal 7.0.
Now our requirement was to customize one field in the General Data iview. corresponding par file name is com.sap.pct.hcm.eeprofilegeneraldata.par
Is there any way (sequence of steps ) how can we customize the above iview.

we have downloaded the par file into our local nwds, and we are not getting java files under src.api, src.core files.
Actually,a new function module was created, in which we have created new method. and we need to establish connection to
this function module through SAP Enterprise connector.

IView Customization

Hi,
We have recently upgrade our portal server to NW2004s from NW2004. I have read that we can customize the WD based iViews by Ctrl+RightClick of the mouse.
While I am trying to do it as suggested in guides(going to roles-> navigate to iview-> preview) its not working. The customization window is not opening. Is there any initial setting which is needed.
