KM Discussions iView or KM Discussion Group Contributors iView

Hello,
Please I understand that the KM Discussion Group Contributors iView is for have discussions outside rooms, and also I have the KM Discussions iView option for have hierarchy discussions. I want to know which is the best option because I think both are for the same objetive, or what is the difference?

Problem with discussion group contributors iview

Hi,
I have created a discussion group contributors iview and fill all the parameters (name, id, layoutset=DiscussionGroupsContributor, path to folders). But if I display the iview in the portal a can create a discussion groups and discussions but i can not display them and reply to them(the name of the discussion is text-it should be a link). Do anyone know where could be the problem?

Problem with discussion group contributor iview

HI,
i created an iview based on "km discussion groups" iview, and changed the default layoutset "DiscussionGroupsContributor" to "myDiscussionGroupsContributor" and removed few command groups in them. so now the end user opens the discussion group through this iview, and when he clicks on one discussion item, it opens a workarea in which he can reply, subscribe to post etc...
at the top, we see a "back button", which will take back to the discussion groups overview screen, but i see all the command groups that i removed, i.e. it is using "DiscussionGroupsContributor" instead of "myDiscussionGroupsContributor" when i click on back button.
any ideas please?

It's always nice to hear when I could be of help when one is trying to solve a problem. You would make me even happier if you would say "Thanks" the SDN-way by using the coloured stars.
But first of all, I would like to let you know how the above UI Command is integrated in the LayoutSet. As you correctly said, it's important to work upgrade safe, and therefore not to change the SAP standard "SingleDiscBackContributor" UI Command, but to duplicate it under your own name.
The LayoutSet "SingleDiscExplorerContributor" references the CollectionListRenderer "SingleDiscHeaderCollectionRendererContributor". This CollectionListRenderer has an attribute "Components" which include the entry "SingleDiscHeaderTitleComponentContributor". If you go to "KM Configuration -> User Interface -> (Show Advanced Options) -> Mapping -> Component" you can search for this Component and see the attribute "Parameters" is set to "SingleDiscUIBackCommandAlias=SingleDiscBackContributor".
So the Component implementation is the one which allows the integration of such "Back" (or sometimes "Edit", etc.) Buttons (UI commands).
To be upgrade safe, you need to duplicate all bold marked KM configuration objects under your own name (my...).

PS: How do I know? I work quite some years now as SAP EP Consultant specialized on KM, and it seems like I was able to gather up some knowledge on this special area
But honestly speaking, I figured this out myself without a special documentation, when I created a new "application" for saving contact data in KM similar to the Collaboration Room Part SAP Contacts. I later presented this on a SDN event and also wrote a <a href="https://weblogs.sdn.sap.com/pub/wlg/2349">Weblog</a> about it.
But actually, I also know about a How To Guide for Customizing Discussion LayoutSet but I'm afraid it's not released yet. I will ask the responsible person from SAP, maybe he can write in this thread what the release plans for this guide are.

KM Discussion Admin IView and KM Discussion IView

Hi Experts,
Can anybody tell me how to use KM Discussion Admin IView and KM Discussion IView and their major purpose ? I need to work on these, but ! i don't know how to use them .

It is simple, if you are working on the "KM Discussion Groups Contributor iView" you can participate in a group discussion.
For Example : How can we improve the performance of our sales team
If this is a discussion that is posted, you can be a part of it and post your comments to this discussion.
And if you are working with the admin iview, it will have the authority to delete some discussions, for example, if somebodys post is not in the context, you can delete it or if you want to you can delete the discussion itself.

I have a Km discussion contributor iview. when the user clicks on an existing discussion or when the user clicks "New Discussion" link in the iview, I would like to show them in a new window.
could some one please let me know, what collection renderer / resource renderer of KMDiscussionGroupCOntributor Layoutset should i change.
I should change something at "rnd:displayname(contentlink)", but dont know what to change..

An simple idea, pehaps help you:
   I created a KM Navigation iview using PortalFavoritesExplorer as layout set. This iview point a folder where I had created a set of links. The end user grants read permission on this folder.
   Each one of these links point to kind of discussion. I mean, I launch discusion iview, I get its url and after that I created a link within the folder.
   After that, I add this iview in details navigation panel.
   As result, the end user can have the discussion topics like favorites, in your navigation panel. When he/she press this link a new windows appear.

Controlling visibility of an iView based on User groups...how ?

Hi SDNs,
I am trying to achive a functionality like:
There is Page with 3 iViews A,B & C and that Page is assigned to some role R.
And there are 2 user groups X & Y and i will assign that Role R to both the user groups.
But the User group X should be able to see only iViews A & B, where as user group should Y should be able to all A,B & C iViews.
I thought of proceeding like controlling Permissions at the iView level for the groups X & Y, but i couldn't do that because i don't know how to do
Can any one suggest a best solution for achieving this kind of functionality ?

EP iview integration with Hummingbird workflow system(iviews)

Hi all,
Kindly let me know if this is the correct forum to discuss this in. We require to have a sortf ot integration/control transfer to the hummingbird workflow system, after triggering a workflow in the SAP EP system.
So the triggering takes place in SAP EP, the control is transferred to the hummingbird system where workflow executes and the control is trnsferred back the to SAP EP. User, however is not to be effected with this control transfer/integration. Meaning, some sort of single sign on thing between the two systems. The iview ergonomics may differ, but the iview flow is to be [next]->[next] for the user.
Is single sign on ideal for this? Do we need interfces for integration? Are there any other mechanisms available in SAP EP to do this???

How to change visibility property of a VC iView by clicking of a BI iView?

Hi all!
I have created four iViews: two speedometers with web application designer and two iViews with visual composer. I added the speedometers and a visual composer iView #1 to a portal page (default view). The requirement is that by clicking the speedometer #2, the visual composer iView #2 would replace visual composer iView #1 on the portal page. If the user then would select the speedometer #1 again by clicking it, visual composer iView #2 would replace #1 again and so on.
I have read article http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/50b65a5d-f397-2910-a78a-f5544f21c33b?quicklink=index&overridelayout=true, but it is more about filtering VC iView values with BI web items. I don't need to filter anything, just to change one iView to another in a portal view by clicking a third one. How can I check what values my web application with Z_SERVICEOUTBOUND template is transfering to VC?
One solution might be¨to transfer any value to VC by clicking a speedometer and to change the visibility of the VC iViews according to that value (the speedometer #1 should in that case transfer other value to VC than speedometer #2). I don't know if that is possible with speedometers - you can't reference any characteristics or variables with it.
If you have an idea, what would be the best way to accomplish this requirement, I would be very glad to hear about it! We are in VC 7.0.

Can a iview monitor the loading of another iview?

Hello,
We created some IAC iviews and these IAC sometimes takes upto 1 minute to load completely. While doing so, there is no indication that the page is loading. In workplace, there was a image(similar to the webdynpro loading image) but this is not available in the portal. We poked around and concluded that the image was being loaded and unloaded by the base frame. How can we accomplish something similar in the portal? Specifically, can we use EPCF for it? Biz has ruled out modifying IAC pages to fire EPCF events. Can a iview monitor the loading of another iview?

To make app maintenance easier, I'd prefer to define the logic in one button and have the second button
simply do whatever the first button is defined to do -- as if it was the one that was clicked. Generally a button either submits the page with a request (i.e. 'CREATE') or executes some Javascript. You can make multiple buttons on your page that when clicked issue the same submission request. In that case, the Processing designed to run on that request will run regardless of which is clicked. Likewise more than one button could execute the same Javascript function.
For example, I have several apps that my userbase makes use of, and some people make use of several. To make it clear which they are logging into, the login screen of each has a graphic that indicates the app name (the same as defined in the application's logo). That graphic is actually in the screen as a graphic button and when clicked will submit as 'LOGIN', so it matters not whether someone clicks on the image or the Login button, the login logic will execute.

Missing Discussion Category - Where to discuss fraudulent Apple sellers?

I have found a seller on ebay who is selling new Apple computers and shipping refurbished models instead. After catching him and returning the 17" MacBook Pro, he re-listed it, and sold it to the next victim. I contacted her, and she is working with the local police in an attempt to get this seller to stop. Meanwhile, the seller has posted yet another machine which I suspect is also a refurbished model being sold as new.
I have contacted Apple about this, and am getting no response. I have offered to provide them with further details, but my e-mails (to a long time employee) appear to be falling on deaf ears. I am very interested in knowing what Apple's policy is in policing this issue and what, if anything, they do to perpetrators. This perpetrator is unbelievably arrogant, even after having been caught, which causes me to think he has found a loophole in the system that Apple isn't addressing.
I am hoping someone can shed some light on this. This type of behavior only serves to damage the reputation and quality of the wonderful products that Apple makes. It would be comforting to know that they are doing something about it.

I could be mistaken, but I'm not sure, that Apple can control what vendors post on eBay, unless maybe, said vendor is promoting as an Apple Authorized Reseller.
There are always unscrupulous sellers on that venue, and it's a Buyer Beware proposition.
But, you can contact Apple Legal.
Or maybe one of the other Legal Contacts Listed HERE.
You should also utilize Contact eBay Site Admins, and file a report.

WebDynpro proxy page with Webdynpro iView and SAP Gui for html iView

Hello,
I have a requirement to have a page that has at the top of it a webdynpro for java iView screen with several links that when pressed pop-up various data pulled from the back-end. This part is fine and presents no problem. Beneath this the requirement calls for a SAP Gui for HTML iView to be displayed. Which is no problem either. The problem occurs when one of the links in the java webdynpro application at the top of the screen is pressed it causes the SAP Gui for HTML portion to refresh and come back to the beginning. So for example you first navigate to this screen and you go into the sap gui for html portion and drill into 2 or 3 screens in the sap gui for html transaction. If you then press one of the webdynpro links the sap gui for html (which is a separate iView) refreshes and you are taken back to the initial screen. This only occurs when using a web dynpro proxy page. If I use a standard page the SAP Gi for html does not refresh. Unfortunately there are other things not mentioned here that require us to use the webdynpro proxy page.

Use System admin -> System Config and find your system in the PCD (under portal content). Right click and open -> permissions. Find a user or group or role and give it the end user permission. I'd suggest the group Everyone.

Hi Prasanna,
this needs some clarifying concerning wordings:
1.) An iView is an "instance" of a portal component. Within the Portal, you have deployed different applications, each app consists of one ore more components (and/or services, but services are faceless).
2.) The "traditional" way to implement such a component is to do it directly via HTMLB, JSPDynPages etc. Deploy this app within the portal and then you can create an iView build directly on this component.
3.) Alternatively, you have components at hand, which import other applications / or web stuff. The most simple for example is an URL-iView. This is an iView using a component which just retrieves the content from some URL given. A more complex example is the ApplicationIntegrator, which does the same plus passing login params etc.
4.) One possibility is to integrate WebDynpro-Applications via a specific WebDynpro iView. The combination of this has the added value that from WebDynpro Applications you are able to use the Portal Services, so you have a far more tight integration.
5.) With all this at hand, the rest should be self declaring: Yes, you can develop "normal" J2EE-Apps, based on "good old JSP/Servlet + EJB" technology and integrate it via URL/AppIntegrator iViews. But you can also use WebDynpro for your frontend and EJB's for your backend with the advantage of tighter integration.

Translation of standard SAP iviews such as the related links iviews

Hi,
does anyone know how to translate he default iviews such as the related links, dynamic navigation, drag 'n relate targets? These iviews do not exist in the PCD. They are available only in the Inner Page on the Default Framework Page as a copy of the com.sap.portal.navigation.targets (Drag 'n Relate) iview.
But I cannot translate the text "Related Links" using the Content Translation or via the PCD. Where are these translations stored and how do I change them?

Calling transaction iview and coming back to abap iview

Hello all,
Is it possible to call a transaction iview from abap webdynpro application iview and come back to it after we are finishing running the transaction? I know I can use the navigate_absolute method to call the transaction iview but i want to know if we can come back to the original abap iview, which called this transaction iview.
resume suspend is not an option since they do not work in portal as per the sap help.
