KM Document iView Vs URL iView

Hi,
We have uploaded the content(publishing html pages and documents) to the KM folders. Now we have to proceed further by creating iViews.
We are in a confusion to select type of iView<b>(either KM Document iView or URL iView)</b> to create, which will point to the above uploaded HTML file.
Can anyone of you tell us which type of iView(KM Doc or URL) is better.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers...
Susan.

hi Susan,
Its better to use KM document iview to display content in the repository than the url iview which is more often used to display the web based contents.

  • How can you add iview personalization to web dynpro iviews like URL iviews?

In the URL iview editor you can define URL paramaters which are available for personalization by the user from the iview's "Personalize" option.
Can this also be done using web dynpro for java iviews?
    Thanks for your help.
    Jeff

    Hi Jeff,
You do have a personalization that can be defined from the user, for java webdympro iview. But is not the same as you have for URL iviews.
Have a look on the links bellow:

  • Two questions on EP: Java Iviews or URL Iviews and KMC...

    Hi,
we are planning to setup an EP, mainly to access R/3 and BW systems.
    1 Q)
In order to select the right scenario for the inizial sizing I would like to clarify if the standard Iviews needed to access the R/3 and the BW system from the EP are to be considered Java Ivies or URL Iviews.
2Q) The KM at the moment is not foresee, but to avoid to require to install it later in case of need, I'm thinking to require his installation from the beginner, also if it will never be used.
My worry is to loose performances also if the KM is not customized or used.
I suspect that as the KM is installed, processes ad portal servces are activated, and they require CPU and Memory also if nobody is using it or no parametrization is done.
But on the KM documentation I'm not able to find out any advise for that.

Question 1 above was answered:  "No support for Java web applications under CF10's custom version of Tomcat"
Question 2:  No answer yet:  Is Apache Tomcat (NOT Adobe's customized version) supported for CF10 J2EE deployment?  I do not see any installation instructions on how to install CF10 on Apache Tomcat 6 or 7.
Is anybody using Apache Tomcat as their J2EE app servers and, again, NOT Adobe's customized/limited version?

  • Remove Scroll bars in a URL iView

    hi
I am attaching more than one( three or four) URL iview to a page and while opening the page, I don't want the Scroll bars to appear on the page.
    how can this be done?
and heard of isolation method.....but doubts whether it is available in EP 7
    Thanks in advance.

I don't care about the iView functionalities...
this I am doing as part of the spacing issue I am facing with the iViews.
for URL iview I guess there is no isolation method.
    for pages it comes.
but for some other iviews the isolation method is there.

  • Webdynpro vs URL - iViews

    Hi all,
What is the difference between WebDynpro iView and URL iView pointing to a WebDynpro application? any advantages? disadvantages?
    Aviad

    Hi Aviad,
IMHO, for general WD apps, there'd be not much differences in using a URL iView vs. a WD iView.  However, a WD iView is supposed to provide a better integration between your WD app and the SAP portal environment; plus, you'd have better control of your apps through the application parameters, etc.
    Please refer to this doc
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/b07501ec-39a7-2910-0699-f71070d2b245
where Jochen mentioned one of the main differences between the NW04 WD iViews and the new NW04s WD iViews ("Using NW04s Webdynpro iViews", p.8).  If I understand correctly, this would also be one of the main differences between the URL iViews and the NW04s WD iViews when it comes to running WD apps in a portal environment.
    What do you think?

  • Which is a better option url iview or bsp iview?

    Hi all,
We have so set of BSP applications to be integrated in the portal. Our requirement is that the BSP application has to be stateless. Could any one suggest us which one would be the best option (BSP iview or URL iview) along with the pros and cons.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Gauri Gosavi.

    Hi!
BSPs should always be integrated into the portal as BSP iViews. Whether a BSP application is stateful or stateless is never decided by the portal but by the BSP application. If you want to avoid that the portal takes over the session management then do not use the parameter sap-syscmd=nocookie whithin the definition of the BSP iView.
    Hope this helps.

  • URL iView vs WSRP

    Hi all,
I was wondering what the advantage of proxy-to portlet WSRP iViews versus URL iViews would be.
In other words, suppose we've got a portlet running on a non-SAP producer. Why would we want to WSRP it instead of creating a URL iView referencing it?
    Thank you in advance.
    Marco

WSRP allows sharing of portlets (iViews) between SAP and
    non-SAP portals
Runtime execution of portlets remains on the WSRP producer
    <b>Consuming WSRP Content</b>
Any WSRP producer can offer portlets to an SAP NetWeaver
    consumer
The SAP consumer can integrate remote portlets into local
    content as standard iViews
    <b>Producing WSRP Content</b>
Customers and partners are able to develop Java-based iViews
and make them available for WSRP consumption
The WSRP standard provides support for integration on a generic
    portlet level only

  • URL iview with HTML file located in Portal server.

I created URL iview pointing to HTML file located in the Portal server. When I try preview it is not working. We wanted to use this iview to create space between two iviews.
This is going to be blank iview.
I saved the HTML file same as where index.html file of webas is located.
Please let me know what is missing here. What kind of path I need to give in the URL of the iview.

    Hi Nagesh,
Are you saying that you created a HTML file on the file system of the portal server or did you create the HTML file within a KM repository on the portal?
If it is the 1st option you should have the HTML file hosted under a webserver such as IIS or Apache and then use the URL that the website is created under.
If it is a file within KM then open the properties of the HTML document that you have created and use the Access Link value as the URL for the iView.
Please let me know if you need further clarification.

  • How to display the image which in KM folder using url iview

    Hi Friends
How to display the image, which is under KM folder structur using the url iview.
i trying using url iview url as  \document\testfolder\abc.jpg as url for the iview.
but its now working .. so please help me how to slove this problem
If is not the correct way then please suggest me best way to achive this.
    Thanks
    Mukesh

    Hi Mukesh,
    I think this may work,
    1, Create a HTML Layout.
You can put your image wherever  u want with HTML Codes.
        Check this, [Article|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/3915a890-0201-0010-4981-ad7b18146f81] & [Help|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/cc/00c93e9b2c3d67e10000000a114084/frameset.htm]
With this, u can use the standard KM commands also.
2, U need to use KM Navigation iView for this rather than KM Doc iView.
3, In the Nav iView, u can use &rndLayoutSet=nameOfUrHTMLLayout to force the view with this new layout.

  • Integration with url iview

    Hi everyone,
I have a web application and Portal and My aim is this two systems integration using url iview but I don't want to use Application Integrator.I want to use only URL iview with url parameters. My wish is to enter URL Parameter = uname(static) and Value = portaluid(This value should be get dynamically from portal).Consequently,How can I get dynamically portal userid in the url iview value. Is that possible?

    Hi Mehmet,
Is there a reason you don't want to use application integrator? Because it is quite simple to create what you want using application integrator.
I don't think URL iView supports dynamic parameters...
Check out the Howto document for application integrator here:

  • Use of Parameters in URL iViews

I'm looking for information/documentation/examples of using parameters in URL iViews.  In particular, I'm hoping that we can pick up some portal runtime info to include as parameters in the URL  for a URL iView.
For example, here at my customer, Kodak, we plan to have country specific roles.  The US Role will have a US specific Welcome Page which has a URL iView that points to a Content Management document for the US Welcome Page.  The problem is that I could have one US user who's preferred language (and Portal Language Preference) is English and another who's preference is Spanish.  Thus, I would need to point to the correct language version for the user.  To do this, I would like to be able to pick up the language preference in the current Portal session and include it in the URL.
Is this possible?  Is it standard stuff? What types of user or session context information or parameters can we pick up to use in the target URL of a URL iView and how would I use or code it in the iView.
    Thanks for you help.

    Hi John & Luis,
The standard solution is the <i>Application Integrator</i> :
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sapportals.km.docs/documents/a1-8-4/the application integrator in ep 6.0
A flexible way of providing parameters to it (if the standard options described in the above document are not enough) is to write a <i>Customer Parameter Provider</i> :
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/library/ep/how to start transaction iviews with a dynamically computed language.pdf
    Hope that helps,
    Yoav.

  • URL IView with parameters having no parameter identifier

I have created a url iview but the first parameter has no Parameter Identifier after the ?. Is there a way to code for this in the URL Parameters section of the iview. Here is par to of the URL:
    .../Pages/ReportViewer.aspx?%2fExpress ...
    if it said something like
    /Pages/ReportViewer.aspx?codelink=%2fExpress
then it would be no issue.
Normally you would put something like codelink and the /Express in the value section. the portal will not let me leave it blank and I have tried using a space. I am trying to access a specific report on the Report Server of MIcrosoft Reporting Services.
    Thanks
    Paul

    Good day,
    Review the following document:
    https://cw.sdn.sap.com/cw/docs/DOC-41417
If that did not help, you may need to create your own template since the standard URL iview generates URL values based on it's own template OR create your own modified version of the PAR.
    Review the following document:
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/e0cbc309-ff89-2a10-8bad-bcde4c152ecb
View the following supplementary articles for information on creating your own appintegrator template:
    https://cw.sdn.sap.com/cw/docs/DOC-109843
    https://cw.sdn.sap.com/cw/docs/DOC-101603
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwesrce/helpdata/en/70/5a3842134bad04e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwesrce/helpdata/en/36/5e3842134bad04e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm
The benefit of this is that you can now create a system object that references the MS reporting Services system from the portal, and transport iviews pointing to this along yoru landscape without issue, and additionally you can specify parameters that can be dynamically determined when an iview is created using the template you have defined.
We use this for connecting to our BO systems dynamically as the landscape calls and apliaction in a different environment. Parameters are also defined differently in our templates. It take a little time getting your head around the documentation, but once you have it sorted it is very straight forward. If you find it too daunting you can also search for the download  to com.sap.portal.howtos.webapp.par which has portion of this preconfigured for use already.
    http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/EP/HowtodoSSOwithInternetsites
    I trust this helps,
    Doug.

  • Remote URL iView

    Hi,
I tried to export data from a table view, which is filled by a query, into a excel file. Everything works fine, except the excel file is empty.
I have done everything like described in:
    <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/47fe4fef-0d01-0010-6f87-ed8ecb479123">https://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/47fe4fef-0d01-0010-6f87-ed8ecb479123</a>
I`m quite sure, that the BW system and the VC are on different server. The document above says, that I then need a remote url iView.
    How do I create that?
The BW system is marked as master and with system alias sap_bw as suggested in <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/wiki?path=/display/vc/exporting%2bdata%2bfrom%2bvc">https://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/wiki?path=/display/vc/exporting%2bdata%2bfrom%2bvc</a>
Has anyone an idea who I can export the Data?
    Regards,
    Matthias

    Hi Miriam,
Just find out the URL of your Web Application created thru EAR deployment. (like when you do a test run of the ear in the browser.) Copy that URL and go to the Portal Content Administration area. Click on any folder and right click and say 'New iView'.
Then select URL iView and give the URL copied above. thats it.
    Hope this helps.
