KM folders as drop-down on advanced search

HI All,
When user hits the advanced search option, there is option of restricting search to folders and sub-folders.
This is available in the folder structure. How can this be made to appear on a drop-down option. The user wants to have it in the same way as the sdn search options wherein the search can be restricted based on the dropdown of category/folders.
Please advise.
Thanks and regards,
Arun

Hi Arun,
This is what SDN Advanced Search provides.
Next to the Search term, it provides the option to select an index as a Dropdown choice. Below the search bar, it gives an option to filter the search result through a set of defined filter values like Product etc. This means that the content has been Meta Data tagged for the values represented by the check boxes.
If you select a checkbox, then the result set displayed to you will be filtered according to that.
What you basically need to do, is to define multiple indexes according to your needs and then define meta data properties which are assigned to each document / folder. This way you can achieve what you need.
I hope this helps, if it does, then please award points in SDN.
cheers,
Shantanu

  • Swap textbox for drop-down list in "search" section of work list panel

    Hi everybody
    I am using albpm 6.0, when I do searches for instances in the work list panel I can add conditions to the search, for example if I select the "Priority" condition I can select my condition from a drop-down list but if I select the "Description" condition there isn't drop-down list instead a textbox appear so my question is: Can I control or change that behavior? I would like to do that when someone select the "Description" condition a drop-down list containing the values appear so he doesn't have to type anything.
    Thank you

    Hi,
    can you share the solution,even i was trying to archive the same.Thanks in advance.

  • Display author as drop list on advanced search UCM

    Hello
    Does anyone know if it is possible to have the authors field appear as a drop list on the advanced search screen in 10gR3 UCM?
    Thanks

    Kyle has a great blog article about changing the Account field, you can probably use the same method for the Author field.

  • Missing drop down menu in search bar

    My search bar is missing the drop down menu. Yahoo has mysteriously appeared as the default engine in my search bar window. When I click the search icon, no drop down menu appears but rather my home page defualts to Yahoo.
    This just started today.

    I think Yahoo replaced your search bar. There would be a solution in

  • When I type in search words in the google box and then drop down to the search that matches what I want, and click on it, it does absolutely nothing. It used to complete the search, how do I get it to complete the search?

    Here is an example:
    I type Denver Dum in the google box.
    It gives me several options, one is Denver Dumb Friends League, which is what I want. I bring the cursor to Denver Dumb Friends League and click. It does nothing. The google box still has Denver dum in it. The only way to get a search to be completed is if I type in the whole phrase and hit enter. How do I get it to search using just part of a phrase? It used to do this before I upgraded to the newer version of firefox. Thanks!

    Do you have the Google Toolbar installed?

  • How can I get rid of "History and Bookmarks" section from the search history drop down menu in safari 6.0.2?

    Let's just say I have saved bookmarks of things that i do NOT want my friends to see when they use my computer occasionally. I know they could go and find these bookmarks anyway in the bookmarks menu but they dont snoop around my computer. i would rather it not just pop up when they go to search for something or type in a webpage. If there is no way to customize what shows up in the drop down menu for search results then that is something apple overlooked. Not everybody wants things all in one place. Whats the point of deleting search history and website history if its just going to show the certain things you have bookmarked? Any solution to this would be appreciated. One solution i thought would work was disabling search from suggesting, but i guess that only supresses the webpages not the url/search bar. Oh and this is for safari 6.0.2 please dont give me outdated advice.
    Thanks

  • When bookmarking a page, I can't get the complete list of bookmark folders to dropdown in order to select any folder in which to bookmark page. What do you set to get whole list of folders in Bookmarks to drop down?

    When bookmarking a page, I can't get the complete list of bookmark folders to drop down in order to select any folder in which to bookmark page. The 'Folder:' bar has 'Bookmarks Menu' showing. The arrow on the bar drops down 5 recent folders to which pages have been saved, but the pop down arrow to the right of the bar just opens to show the three categories and 'New Folder' button. What do you set to get whole list of folders in Bookmarks to drop down?

    To all, embarrassingly enough, I have discovered that I didn't know how to expand the three categories including 'Bookmarks Menu' in the 'Bookmark This Page' pop up interface. It was expanded by default on the initial Firefox opening and first page bookmark attempt. Next use it only showed categories. I clicked and double clicked the 'Bookmarks Menu' line, but failed to see the small, shaded triangle used to expand/collapse list. If it appears collapsed, just tap triangle at left of line to see all folders. It seems to open the same way after I do it for first time. Sorry for the inconvenience, and thanks for all the attempts to help.

  • Different Files Returned when using the Drop Down list on the Search Results Page

    Hi
    I have a result set of 22 documents when I select Date (Newest) from the drop down on the search results page.  The third document down is called "LL".
    If I now select Date (Oldest) I have a result Set of 22 documents. However, when I move to the second page.  The number of documents has reduced to 20 documents and my document "LL" which I would have expected to be the third from bottom document
    is not there.
    Am I doing something wrong here ?  Search is OOTB.  I have added some refiner columns.
    Regards
    Nigel
    Nigel Price NJPEnterprises

    Hi Nigel,
    It is by design. The "About x results" is presented when the total number of results is uncertain, and that is when collapsing (i.e. duplicate detection in this case) is enabled and the result set is partially processed. By default, a result page
    shows 10 results at the time. Therefore, for result sets with less than or equal to 10 results you will always get an accurate number of results and hence “About” is omitted. For more than 10 results you will get the “About x results” on the first page until
    you get to the last page of results and only then we know the exact number of results and hence can omit the “About”.
    Note that when you page out in the result set you will notice that the X in the “About X results” can vary quite a lot. That is because the total number of results is estimated based on the collapsing done so far. This is a common way of doing it by other
    search engines as well.
    Here is a simlar post for your reference:

    I hope this helps.

  • Google Autocomplete + Drop-Down Search History

    I just updated to Firefox 4. Only one major problem.
    I know all the methods to disable Google's automated AutoComplete function.
    I've used them for years with Firefox.
    The methods eliminated Google's search suggestions but retained everything I typed in the search engine (personal search history in drop-down box).
    But now, after updating to FF4, every method to block AutoComplete now all-of-a-sudden blocks the typed-in searches (personal search history) from the drop-down menu.
    The drop-down box of search terms I've typed is missing.
    What can I do to re-enable the drop-down box of what I've typed in, while blocking the automated search suggestions?

    That problem is listed as a known issue with the Google Toolbar.

  • Best practice on dynamically changing drop down in page fragment

    I have a search form, which is a page fragmant that is shared across many pages. This form allows users to selct a field from the drop down list, and search for a particular value, as seen in the screenshot here:
    http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger2/1291/174258525936074/1600/expanded.5.gif
    Please note that the search options are part of page fragmant embedded within a page - so that I can re-use it across many pages.
    The drop down list changes,based on the page this fragment is embedded. For users page, it will be last name, first name, etc. For parts page, it will be part number, part desc., etc.
    Here is my code:
              Iterator it=getTableRowGroup1().getTableColumnChildren();
            Option options[]=new Option[getTableRowGroup1().getColumnCount()];
            int i=0;
            while (it.hasNext()){
                TableColumn column=(TableColumn)it.next();
                if (column.getSort()!=null){
                    options=new Option(column.getSort().toString(), column.getHeaderText());
    }else{
    options[i]=new Option(column.getHeaderText(), column.getHeaderText());
    i++;
    search search=(search)getBean("search");
    search.getSearchDDFieldsDefaultOptions().setOptions(options);
    This code works, but it gives me all fields of the table available in the drop down. I want to be able to pick and choose. May be have an external properties file associated with each page, where I can list the fields available for search drop down??
    What is the best practice to load the list of options available for drop down on each page? (i.e last name, first name, etc.) I can have the code embedded in prerender of each page, or use sort of a resouce bundle for each page or may be use a bean?

  • Web Service with Drop Down Lists for database selections

    Hello,
    I want to define a Web Service with the JDeveloper which can do the following.
    I´ve got a database table with several columns which represents a customer adress and name.
    On a WebSite I like to have three Drop Down Lists to search in that table. The first list should include the field "name". When I select a name there the second list should show all streets (field "street") where people with the selected name live. When I select the street the third list should show me the house numbers (field "hn") of the customers with the selected name and street.
    What have I to do to define a application, a project and so on?
    Many Thanks!

    Hello,
    This question is not directly related to Web Services, since in this case you can consider that the Web Service is your "model" providing data to your view (JSP). One of the question I would like to ask you is: why do you want to use a Web Service to do that? and how you want to deploy this?
    In a general manner, if you use Web Service it is to be able to reuse the business logic in other projects, so based on this statement I would create a specific project that will contain you "model" so all your services.
    The to consume it from your JSP you have different ways:
    - create a Java proxy, or use @WebServiceRef to call the client
    - use Javascript to call the service directly from the HTML page, take a look to the Oracle Web Service endpoint page, where you can see some Javascript stub links.
    Please give more details about your project and needs and I will try to give you a proper answer.
