KM in erp pre-stage

Hi
i am a student and my master thesis is about enhancing the erp implementation process by using knowledge management tools before the erp implementation process starts.
but i cannot find relevant resource about type of requisite information and knowledge of the company that should be extracted.
i am looking forward to your help

Building Power Through Knowledge Organization
The amount of information in organizations is increasing
exponentially, and much of it is unstructured u2013 documents on
department file servers, Web pages on subsidiary Web servers,
e-mail, groupware, and slide presentations, to name just a few
examples. These unstructured and often unmanaged resources
contain mission-critical knowledge that companies need to maximize
business advantage. The challenge is to transform that
information into organizational knowledge u2013 to bring it into the
context of critical business processes.
The knowledge management capabilities of the SAP NetWeaveru2122
platform address this important challenge by structuring and
classifying the entire spectrum of unstructured content, making
it accessible to users and available for improving decision making.
The SAP® Enterprise Portal (SAP EP) component of SAP NetWeaver
delivers these knowledge management capabilities. SAP EP
provides you with a configurable set of connectors, repositories,
and services, including a full-featured search engine that makes
all unstructured information accessible to users. Moreover, integration
of such features with other capabilities of SAP NetWeaver
creates a role-driven network of information, collaboration,
analytics, and alert options across your organization.
Creating Strategic Resources
from Unstructured Information
The knowledge management capabilities of SAP NetWeaver
help you manage all facets of unstructured information u2013 from
collaborative authoring and publishing to advanced search and
navigation features u2013 with extraordinary ease and efficiency.
As the world becomes more
data driven, information is
coming at you from all directions.
How can you leverage that information
into usable knowledge?
How can you integrate that
information, give it structure,
increase search capabilities,
and provide access to rolerelevant
data? With the SAP
NetWeaveru2122 platform, you can
turn distributed, unstructured
information into organizational
knowledge, and make that
knowledge accessible and
collaborative enterprise-wide.

MANAGEMENT WITH
SAP NetWeaveru2122
SAP NetWeaver Brief
These capabilities include:
u2022 Functions for effectively creating and working with information
in documents
u2022 A powerful search and classification engine
u2022 Adaptability through an open set of extensions
u2022 Role-based access and full integration with the SAP NetWeaver
integration and application platform
Because users naturally store information in a variety of locations,
all these u201Cplacesu201D or u201Cdocument repositoriesu201D should be combined
within one u201Cvirtual view.u201D The knowledge management capabilities
of SAP NetWeaver provide this virtual view, which ensures the
accessibility of all documents to all authorized users and provides
critical information services.
Effectively Creating and Working
with Information in Documents
The knowledge management capabilities of SAP NetWeaver
support the entire document life cycle. Standard user interfaces
provide all the basic functions required for working with documents
u2013 authoring, publishing, classifying, versioning, publishing
workflows, and more. Automatic classification services sort documents
into the appropriate channels, and subscription mechanisms
push the new content to target audiences. To complete the cycle,
readers can provide feedback to authors and use the rating function.
Template-based authoring and publishing using multiple
channels make life easy for occasional authors, while administrators
can utilize an extensive framework for detailed configurations
and additions to the system.
With these and other features, the knowledge management
capabilities of SAP NetWeaver provide an out-of-the-box solution.
The extensible design supports the addition of a vast collection of
features to meet your specific business needs.

Providing Powerful Search
and Classification Functions
What good is information if users canu2019t find it? To resolve this fundamental
issue, the knowledge management capabilities of SAP
NetWeaver come with a search and classification engine.
This fully equipped and integrated engine provides knowledge
workers with tremendous power and flexibility for finding what
they need, when they need it. With the search and classification
engine, users can do the following:
u2022 Search across multiple content repositories and discover
related documents anywhere in the system
u2022 Retrieve originals or highlighted HTML versions of nearly
200 file formats
u2022 Navigate through logical hierarchies u2013 commonly known as
taxonomies u2013 populated by automatic classification

MULTIPLE LEVELS OF INFORMATION EXCHANGE
u2022 Associate information in documents with individuals and identify

u2022 Use fuzzy and linguistic search methods in nearly 30 languages
u2022 Benefit from dynamically ranked search results and document
summarization
Because knowledge management is a tightly integrated capability
of SAP NetWeaver, searching is not restricted to unstructured
information and can be extended to structured business content.
These search and classification mechanisms have already been
applied to other SAP solutions and will continue to be extended to
provide powerful search functions across a wide range of critical
business information.
Enabling Adaptability Through Open Extensions
There is an important principle for encouraging people to share
and reuse their knowledge actively: bring the knowledge to the
people rather than forcing them to go looking for the knowledge
they need. In other words, it makes sense to embed and adapt the
knowledge management approach in existing business processes,
user behavior, and system landscapes. Otherwise, you might end
up with isolated solutions that lack relevance and impact. The
knowledge management capabilities of SAP NetWeaver are built to
allow them to be adapted to the needs of your business and its
ever-growing set of processes. The knowledge management capabilities
of SAP NetWeaver enable you to:
u2022 Integrate existing information repositories through
preconfigured connectors to your existing information
repositories u2013 In addition to connectors available from SAP,
SAP partners provide connectors for their own repositories.
And SAP customers can build their own custom connectors
that are tailored to specific requirements.
u2022 Flexibly configure the user interface u2013 User interfaces for information
sharing need to be highly interactive; however, they
also need to reflect corporate design standards and unique user
requirements. For this reason, the knowledge management capabilities
of SAP NetWeaver provide a highly flexible user interface
that can be used out of the box, adapted to your needs by
configuration, or extended by Java coding.
u2022 Add new functions and services u2013 Your business may need additional
or slightly modified functions. Therefore, in addition to
repository and user interface adaptation, interfaces can be used to
modify existing functions or to create completely new functions
based on existing knowledge management services. Other SAP
solutions are already leveraging this capability to enhance their
applications with powerful knowledge management capabilities.
All of these enhancements can be accomplished either through
simple Web-based configuration or through integration into the
standard development infrastructure of SAP NetWeaver. The welldocumented
and released programming interfaces provided by
SAP ensure that extensions will still run smoothly after an upgrade.
Relying on SAP NetWeaver
for Role-Based Access and Integration
Typically, your users have the greatest need for well-managed
knowledge within the context of their current business tasks,
processes, or roles. Thus, knowledge management capabilities
must be embedded in the immediate vicinity of your core business
applications. Knowledge management, as a central component of
SAP NetWeaver and SAP EP, creates this context. As demonstrated
by the following examples, you can rely on the integration for
central user management, the proven portal role concept, and the
applications powered by SAP NetWeaver:
u2022 The SAP Business Intelligence (SAP BI) component of SAP
NetWeaver makes information accessible by broadcasting
reports into portal components that expose knowledge
management interfaces u2013 making these reports available in an
integrated view along with information from other sources that
are relevant for business analysis.
u2022 Because teamwork between users is one of the key factors in
successfully managing knowledge in organizations, the knowledge
management capabilities of SAP NetWeaver are tightly
linked with collaborative tools. Whenever users work together
on documents in a collaboration room, knowledge management
is involved u2013 and even here, applications within or on
top of SAP NetWeaver can be involved to enhance knowledge
management and collaboration within a business context.
Managing Knowledge for Competitive Advantage
Organizations can use the knowledge management capabilities of
SAP NetWeaver to boost efficiency and overall business velocity by
enhancing the quality of relationships, thereby driving everyone
to maximize value across the entire enterprise with unprecedented
speed. In a world in which the time between identifying a problem
and finding its solution can spell success or failure, the knowledge
management capabilities of SAP NetWeaver bring the correct information
to the right people, thus increasing productivity and
creating a smarter enterprise.

I am migrating my client from XP to 7 and in their small regional sites, they have 100 Mbps switch ports where the DP is plugged into.  The DP is a Windows 7 workstation so I can't levarage multicasting.  When we run more than 4 concurrent migrations
at a time, there is a severe network bottleneck considering the image is 4.6 Gb in size.
We have SCCM 2012 SP1 with MDT 2012 and are levaraging UDI inside our refresh task sequence, which means the OS is built offline.
    A. Is there anyway to prestage the WIM file down to the clients before the migrations?
    B. Is this possible with an Offline refresh?
As a workaround, we are possibly going to use the uplink port on the switch with is 1 Gbps.
    Thanks in Advance!

The media can also be prestaged to the computer. See the video below.

  • Profile Manager - Why create Enrollment Profiles?

So a similar question was asked previously:
    Why use an enrollment profile?
I've read through it and I don't think the answers provided tell the whole story, so I'd like to ask again adding some of my own thought and clarifications on the previous thread.  This may be considered a "primer" by some - though I am certainly not the expert on Profile Manager.  I'm laying it out there to explain my understanding and off of that, ask a question.  If you are an expert, and understand how all this works, please just skip to my question below!
First, my experience and understanding.  (I urge others to correct/clarify where they see fit):
The previous thread attempted to make a distinction between the 3 different types of profiles:  Trust, Enrollment.and Remote Management Profiles.
I believe the proper 3 distinctions should be: Trust, Remote Management/Enrollment, and Configuration Profiles.
    - The Trust Profile is basically a Profile (.mobileconfig file) that contains the Server Certificate that needs to be present to validate other signed Profiles.  It's a fancy way of packaging up the Root certificates.
    - The Remote Management/Enrollment Profile is a Profile (.mobileconfig file) that delivers the Remote Management "connection".  It registers the device with the Profile Manager server and facilitates the ability to use PM/APNS to push various Configuration Profiles as well as commands (wipe/lock/etc).  It is *only* called an Enrollment Profile when you explicitly create one (more on that below).  Because an Enrollment Profile does not need to exist to enroll (or rather it will use the implicit "unseen" enrollment), this is the most confusing of the 3 Profile types.  It is further confusing because the term "Profile" is used almost elusively on the device and not within Profile Manager.  In fact the "Enrollment Profile" is the only one explicitly called a "Profile" within the management interface!
IOW: While it is not shown anywhere in Profile Manager, I believe that "Remote Management" (called a Profile on the device) is basically the *default* Enrollment Profile that is only inferred and seen when you use the Enroll function on MyDevices.  This means you don't need to create any Enrollment Profile to enroll your devices interactively via the MyDevices page.
    - The Configuration Profile is a Profile (.mobileconfig file) that delivers specific settings.  These Profiles are applied to either Users, Groups, Devices, or Device Groups.  They can be automatically pushed to an enrolled device, or they can be manually downloaded from the MyDevices page (seems to apply to User configuration only) for devices even if they are not enrolled (this would allow the end user the 'choice' to pull down settings).
Having outlined that, the simplest steps to enrollment...:
When you setup Profile Manager, you can go right to the MyDevices page on your device, login, and choose "Enroll." (sample device is let's say an iPad)
Doing so will prompt you to install the "Remote Management" profile.
Note that when enrolling in this way it does not appear necessary to install the "Trust Profile" for your server, even when using a Self-signed Cert.  It would appear that this "Remote Management" profile contains not only the SCEP Enrollment Request and the Device Management payload, but also the Certificates that would be installed with the "Trust profile"
So we have seen here that one can enroll a device without explicitly creating any "Enrollment Profile."
So why use an Enrollment Profile?
Well according to https://help.apple.com/profilemanager/mac/3.1/#apd6DD5E89E-2466-4D3C-987E-A4FF05 676EB7, the answer is pretty straightforward:
"The user does not need to authenticate or log in to Profile Manager’s user portal"
This is a great feature.  For one, you can create an Enrollment Profile and send it via e-mail and the user doesn't need to visit a web page and login to enroll a device.  In fact, based on my experience Enrollment Profiles can't even be accessed via the MyDevices page unless you are a Server Admin.
However, when distributing an Enrollment Profile you seemingly *must* install the Trust Profile prior to this, or you will get an error about communicating with the server.  Several docs/tutorials you can google explain how to set up your deployment systems (specifically OSX machines) to deploy systems with both the Trust and Enrollment profiles to facilitate automatic enrollment when a new system is deployed so it can instantly be managed.
However, since a device that is already deployed will/may not have the Trust Profile installed, one would have to visit the MyDevices page to install that prior to being able to import a delivered Enrollment Profile.  Because of that it seems that from a distribution approach (as opposed to a deployment scenario) there is not much advantage of using an explicit Enrollment Profile anyway since we already need to visit the MyDevices page to get the Trust Profile, we might as well just use the standard MyDevices implicit Enrollment.
All devices that have enrolled themselves via a defined/explicit Enrollment Profile will be listed under that Profile in Profile Manager.  Devices that have enrolled via MyDevices will not be listed under any Profile, but rather just under Devices (where *all* devices will be shown regardless of how they enrolled).
    So, now the questions:
So, the idea of an Enrollment Profile makes perfect sense - it is basically the only way to create an exportable profile that can be distributed and configured to automatically enroll a device without interactive enrollment via the MyDevices page.
What I don't get is WHY is there the ability to create multiple Enrollment Profiles rather than simply providing a default exportable profile?
The reason it makes no sense to me is there is absolutely no correlation (that I can deduce) between an Enrollment Profile and the devices that used it to enroll.  While I can see a (non-exportable) list of each device enrolled via each Enrollment Profile, it ends there.  I can't, for instance, create Configuration Settings that I link to an Enrollment Profile.  Or dynamically populate a Device Group with all devices enrolled from a specific Enrollment Profile.  If I could do these things, it might make sense to me and I have spent much time looking at the interface and scouring documentation to see where the connection is.  I have simply determined that there isn't one.
I can go ahead and create several Enrollment Profiles such as:
    iPads
    Lab Systems
    Main Office Systems
    High Security Systems
And I can deploy these Profiles (either via mail/file or via initial deployment) to the respective devices.  I can then see under each Profile which devices enrolled.  But, since I can't actually do anything to correlate those systems to a configuration, why would I want to do this segregation?  Sure it gives me a listing of iPads apart from OSX machines, but I can't do anything with this listing!
Now, of course, I can still pre-stage devices and add them into particular device groups so that as soon as they are enrolled (via any Enrollment Profile) they will get the Configuration Profile(s) attached to them.  This makes the inclusion of multiple Enrollment Profiles even more suspect.
Am I missing something?  Can someone enlighten me as to what the purpose of creating more than one Enrollment Profile would be?
We can easily say "Well it's not hurting having them there" but, in terms of complexity and confusion I believe it is.  Had they simply provided a single Enrollment Profile ("Remote Management") that was downloadable/exportable it would have been sufficient.
    Thoughts?

  • Fail to add Mailbox server to DAG

    I'm Setting up Exchange Server 2013 Mailing system, the schema that i'm deploying includes two CAS servers : 3S-CAS1 and 3S-CAS2 for load balancing access authentication;
and two mailbox servers 3S-MBX1 and 3S-MBX2. A File share server 3S-FW is used as a witness for the DAG . the Exchange Trusted Subsystems AD Group is added as member ofthe File witness  local administrators. A computer account EDAG is created on AD and
    then disabled as recommended.
my Network configuration is the following :
    3S-CAS1 : 172.16.192.7
    3S-CAS2 : 172.16.192.8
    3S-MBX1: 172.16.192.9 (prod trafic)
                        10.0.0.1 (replication interface)
    3S-MBX2: 172.16.192.10 (prod interface)
                        10.0.0.2 (replication interface)
    EGAG : 172.16.192.20
the issue is when i try to create a DAG (Database Availability Group) i'm getting the following error message
    <small>[PS] C:\Windows\system32>New-DatabaseAvailabilityGroup -Name EDAG -WitnessServer 3S-FW -WitnessDirectory c:\shares\fws_dag -DatabaseAvailabilityGroupIpAddresses 172.16.192.20

Error: The network path was not found</small>
After that i'm giving up using witness server since creating a DAG without specifying a witness server would elect one from CAS servers that do not contain the mailbox role.

    Hi,
Please check if cluster name object (CNO) setting is correct. Make sure you have pre-staged the CNO object if you are running Windows Server 2012 for the DAG members. When you add the first node to DAG, you should assign Full Control permissions to the CNO.
For more details about this, you can refer to the following article.
Pre-Stage the Cluster Name Object for a Database Availability Group

  • Prestage content no longer working after SCCM 2012 R2 CU1 update

    I run SCCM 2012 R2 CU1 on a Windows 2008 R2 server.
I upgraded to CU1 in June, and today is the first time I've attempted to pre-stage a package since then.  After pre-staging my package and getting the content out to the target DP, I went to properties of the DP, checked the box "Enable this
distribution point for prestage content", then hit Ok.
Next I went to distribute the content to the DP, however after going thru the wizard, nothing changes.  There is no pending status, waiting on prestage content, that I had seen in the past when doing this task.  I can go in and run the wizard
again, and the target DP shows up in the list, like I'd never initiated the push before.
    Normal (non-prestaged) distributions work fine.
In troubleshooting this, I also noticed that I looking at the site status of the target DP, there are no status message entries for since I upgraded to CU1 (for that matter, none of my DP's have any entries since CU1).  I did see a similar issue like
    this in the forums
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/9491c2b1-37e6-46e3-9bb0-c5d673490d8a/component-status-not-updating-since-upgrade-from-sccm2012-sp1-cu3-to-sccm2012-r2?forum=configmanagergeneral but I don't have a backed up stat.mgr\retry inbox, it's empty.
I think this is related to why I can no longer prestage content, but I can't seem to find a reason for it.  The fixes for R2 CU2 don't mention my issue here either
    Anyone else seeing this?
    Tony

    Hi,
Please check SmsAdminUI.log and Smsprov.log after you distribute the content to the DP.

  • Windows 7 SP1 Installation Error - 0x80070002 - ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND

    Hi,
I use Windows 7 Professional x64. I installed Readiness tool. It was completed successfuly.
    CheckSUR.persist
    Summary:
    Seconds executed: 597
     No errors detected
When I try to install Win7 Service Pack 1 (standalone installer), I get File not found error (0x80070002 - ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND). In CBS log, I see this error entry:
Info                  CBS    Failed to find file: x86_networking-mpssvc_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.17514_none_0c80f0c5176cbb85\Firewall.cpl [HRESULT
    = 0x80070002 - ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND]
I checked whether Firewall.cpl exists in SP1 or not. When SP1 installer gave error message, I didn't close SP1 window (in order to avoid cleanup). I copied
windows6.1-KB976932-X64.cab file from temporary folder which was created by SP1 installer. I extracted this cab file to new folder by 7-Zip program. I looked into this folder.
    I found x86_networking-mpssvc_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.17514_none_0c80f0c5176cbb85
folder that mentioned in CBS log. Firewall.cpl file didn’t exist in this folder.
Finally, I see that Firewall.cpl file doesn’t exist in required location in SP1 standalone installer
How can I solve the problem?
    Thank you

From the CheckSUR log, I find one error regarding atiilhag.inf has been fixed. Please run SFC and the update readiness tool again until the logs give the all clear.
From CBS log, I notice the following error message.
"Failed to open the registry root: n/a, key: SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup\ServicePack\SPReview. er=0x2"
I suggest booting in Safe Mode and take the ownership of the registry.
    1. Click Start -> type
regedit in the search box and press Enter.
    2. Navigate to the following registry:
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup]
    3. Right click
Setup folder, choose permission, add everyone account into list with full permission.
    4. Click
Advanced button, select the option for Replace all child object permissions with inheritable permission form this object.
After that, reboot in Safe Mode and run Standalone installer again to check the result. If the issue persists, I think the best efficient way is in-place.

  • Using MDT to re-join computers to a domain after a re-image

Since 2010 we have been using WDS to build, capture and deploy our image across our organisation (A High School) which has worked well enough. While WDS can do all this the build and capture is a little clunky and relies on you to manually installing all
programmes and then mounting the WIM file and inject the drivers so I have moved us onto MDT for the build and capture before importing the finished WIM file into WDS for deployment.
This has worked much better as MDT makes it much quicker to get an image up and going (programme silent installs, testing is much quicker etc) and drive management is as simple as telling MDT to put ALL the drivers you want into the image but I have been
reading that you should link MDT and WDS together.
I followed the instruction and imported the LiteTouchPE wim file into WDS and we are able to PXE boot right into MDT and either make a new image or capture the one we are working on but I am trying to automate the deployment so it is more like what we have
when just using WDS for deployment. Because I want to retain the ability to use MDT to make a new image I cannot customise the customesettings.ini file too much and instead I am relying on MDT task sequences for must of the customisations.
Currently all our systems are pre-staged into WDS (I think it is actually Active Directory at the end of the day but you use wdsutil to pre-stage them) so when we boot into PXE WDS deploys and configures the machines using WDSClientUnattend and ImageUnattend
XML file so that once the deployment is finished it is sitting at the logon screen waiting for the user to login already joined to the domain and our wireless network.
I am having trouble trying to achieve this same result using our WDS + MDT combo with the main sticking point being trying to re-join the computer back to the domain (we re-image machines constantly so re-join back to the domain is a must). I wrote/found
a PowerShell script that does the domain join but because an account already exists (all our machines are pre-staged under their service tag and GUID) it throws an error about their already being an account with that name (the computer still appear to join
the domain and I can logon using my domain account). Because of this error MDT borks the deployment and doesn't finish up and complains about deployment being in progress etc.
Is using WDS to boot the LiteTouchPE and then deploying through MDT the best way or are we better off going back to using MDT to do the build and capture and then using WDS and it's pre-staging to do the deploy? I really like that with MDT I can have a little
more control over driver deployment (recently had a problem where we got a new laptop and injecting the new drivers into the WIM broke the entire image for all our machines except the new one) and software at the time of the re-image (I cannot install the
Lenovo hotkey software in a virtual machine because it does a hardware check and fails to install so either the entire image needs to be made on a Lenovo or the software doesn't get installed).
I am currently making a Windows 8.1.1 x64 Enterprise SOE/MOE/whatever you would like to call it using MDT 2013 with WDS running on Windows Server 2012 R2 x64.

    Hello,
It is better to use so-called "thin" images. These contain only the operating system (in a facility and captures vm). Subsequently pilots and soft will be deployed by the bais of MTD.
For drivers I recommend you to use selection profiles. Moreover it is necessary to put a condition in step "Inject Drivers". Condition Type: Variable called MODEL, variable value Latitude E6430 (change the value to the desired model). It is necessary
to add more step Inject Drivers that type of position.
Application level, you import the different applications in MDT allowing you to select only the desired wizard when applications. If you want to automate this step you will need to indicate statically in the task sequence to install applications, this will
require the creation of several task sequence.
    Best Regards
Well I am well aware the Microsoft recommends a thin image it is simply not practical in a School environment where Students change in and our of subjects and where the combination of subject specific software is nearly infinite the overhead is too great
(maybe if we used something like SCCM where we could deploy applications based on OU or group membership).
All your other points aside my problem/issue/question which appears to have been lost is, how do I rejoin a computer to the domain using MDT?  We re-image laptops constantly and using WDS they rejoin with no problems but using MDT an error is thrown because
the account already exists.  In WDS we have all our machines pre-staged so is there an MDT equivalent that will let me re-image a laptop and have it re-join the domain under the same account without throwing and error.

  • Windows 2008 r2 sp1 installation error 0x800f081f

I have two servers that are nearly identical running Windows 2008 R2.  Both are Hyper-V hosts.  I have applied SP1 to one of them, but am having problems getting SP1 to install on the 2nd one.  The downloaded installation fails with 0x800f081f.
    I have found
posts that refer to the Remote Server Administration Tools (RSAT) but since this is NOT Windows 7 and I have not installed the RSAT tools, I am at a loss.
    I have also found
this thread that seems to be similar to my issue, except the O/S is Windows 7 instead of Windows 2008 R2.
I can see the failure in the CBS.log file, but don't know how to troubleshoot this problem.

  • Photo Album 'Linked' on iWeb..

I'm trying to pre-stage a photo page that I can update and publish after an event with the pictures I've taken throughout the day.
I created two photo pages and a 'home' page. The photo pages have my own custom made 'space holders' currently placed there and I plan on replacing them later with albums from the individual subjects from the event, however during a test I tried placing an album on the page - Now, acording to the instructions from iWeb, once I've done this (according to iWebs own instructions) it should automatically use the first image of the folder as the image on the page as well as a link to a 'new' hidden page that wold contain the rest of the albums images.
When I tried this in practice, it instead drops ALL the images from the folder onto the page and doesn't create these linked pages that the instructions speak of. What am I doing wrong? Is there some step that I'm missing?
Thanks for the help ahead of time...
MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.6)
MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    it should automatically use the
first image of the folder as the image on the page as
well as a link to a 'new' hidden page that wold
contain the rest of the albums images.
I think you are mixing up two different things.
If you drag an iphoto album to a regular iweb page, I believe it will make this link and page as you say. However...............
When I tried this in practice, it instead drops ALL
the images from the folder onto the page and doesn't
create these linked pages that the instructions speak
of. What am I doing wrong? Is there some step that
    I'm missing?
This is how a photo page works. When you drop a whole bunch of photos on there, it fills up the page with the photos.
If you want to use the method you have stated above, don't create photo pages ahead of time. Let iWeb create them for you when you drag the album on another (presumably main index) page.

  • Cluster Network name resource could not be updated in domain

    Hi,
I have the following error and need clarification on the below solution in bold:
    Event Id 1206 -
The computer object associated with the cluster network name resource 'Cluster Name' could not be updated in domain 'xxxxx.xxxx'. The error code was 'Password change'. The cluster identity 'ClusterGroup1$' may lack permissions required to update the object.
1 - Move CNO back to the Computers Container
2- Give the Cluster Node Computer Accounts Change Password permission on the CNO
3 - Take the Cluster Name Resource offline
4 - Repair Cluster Name Resource
5 - Bring Cluster Name Resource back online
    Firstly, is there any implication?
Secondly if ClusterGroup1$ is my CNO (Cluster Name Object) then is my
cluster node computer account the server nodes in the cluster? E.g. ClusterGroup1$ is the cluster, the nodes are hyperv01 and hyperv02, do I add hyperv01 and hyperv02 to clustergroup1 -- properties -- security?
    Thank you.

    Hi SPD IT,
If you have pre-stage your cluster object to a specific OU, you needn’t move them to default computer OU, with your current error information it most possible caused by the
lack permission of cluster nodes or some unless GPO applied to cluster nodes, please exclude the cluster from any GPO, then test this issue.
If it does not work please follow this repair action then monitor this issue:
    1. Open Failover Cluster manager
    2. Select Clustername
    3. Under Cluster Core Resources right click on Cluster Name and select Take offline
    4. Right click on Cluster Name and select repair.

    CA Forum: WebIntelligence Reporting
    Vinl,
The WebI (and BOE XI server) is not completely tuned out of the box to support multiple data providers and large data sets.  There are tuning parameters that must be set (and which will cause more memory usage, etc, etc) and must be monitored to expand performance in order to resolve unwanted timeouts.  If you are not the administrator, then you'll have to work with him or her (and possibly open a trouble ticket with tech support for more help, if needed).
The timeout aspect is frustrating.  We have three servers, development, testing, and production.  The development system is totally off-line and not under any security-lockdown influences.  Testing is our pre-stage and was built by our BI team.  And production is in the server farm built by the Sysadmins.  Of the three servers, only the production server suffers from a two-minute WebI timeout (and Infoview timeouts where the report just spins all day without a response, but in WebI at least we get an ugly "error notice" when the two-minute timeout occurs).  We think that some kind of lockdown was performed on our production server that causes the two-minute timeout for an executing report to occur.  On the one hand it keeps us sharp in not building reports that will make the user wait a long time, and to encourage them to schedule a report through scheduler when it will take longer than two minutes to execute.  On the other hand it can be troublesome to maintain a report that takes so long to run in terms of modifications and corrections.  At times I've had to go into the datawarehouse and rename a production table to something else, then create a mini-version of that production table in order to run the report and modify it (all done in the off-hours of course), and then when done modifying the report, delete the mini-version of the production table and rename the off-named production table back to its original name in order to press on.  The things we gotta do to press on with life....  Good luck, and hang in there Vinl.

  • New domain new subnet problem

We were trying to add a new domain tree to our forest/domain with windows 2012 r2 but the promotion of the new domain controller for the new domain tree failed. Everything goes well until the final setup window, but then the new domain controller for the
new domain tree appears to stuck at "Replicating the schema directory partition" stage... It never ends the "Replicating the schema directory partition" stage!!!
So I went to the lab (in our Hyper-V) and try to replicate the problem. I created a new forest/domain and add a new domain tree, the process completed successfully. Bu then I replicated the same setup but using different IP subnet for each DC (like our production
environment), and the the SAME HAPPENS again, the setup goes until the final stage and stays forever at the "Replicating the schema directory partition" stage!!!
At this stage I don`t know if the problem is the same that we have in our PRD environment, but the problem has the same behavior. I suspect that the problem has something to do with IPV6 (I see the primary DNS for the NIC primary DNS listed with the IPV6 "::1"
before the IPV4 address), but i don`t know much about IPV6. I already tried several configurations, I disabled the firewalls in both lab DCs, I removed the IPV6 check option from the NIC  properties from both DCs, I set BOTH DNS to respond only from their
IPV4, I tried to pre-stage the new domain tree DNS zone in the DC, and so on... Nothing works...
    So the current scenario is:
Hyper-V physical machine / 2 Private switches (one for each subnet)
    3 VMs
1 DC - First Domain/Forest / Static IP / DNS IPV4 point to itself / and IPV6 DNS = ::1 / It has the First DNS/Domain Zone and a conditional Forwarder that points to the 2nd DC that is in the other subnet.
2 DC - This is the one to be added with new domain tree in the existing Forest. Static IP address / DNS point to itself /  and IPV6 DNS = ::1 / also has a conditional Forwarder that points to the 1st DC DNS domain zone that is in the other subnet.
Between both subnets I have a server that has RAS role to provide routing between both subnets
From both DCs I can ping each end, I have access to the shares in both ends, DNS appears to be working ok...
(Note: In one of the tests I created a new primary zone in DC02 to pre-stage the new domain tree zone in DC02 before running the active directory setup in DC02, then I went to DC01 and ping the DC02 by its FQDN, and DC02 replied, however if I try to ping only
the Primary Zone by its name "newdomaintree.com" it fails in both DCs witch is weird to me, I did the same test for the First/Domain DNS Zone in DC01 and worked ok for both tests, I could ping DC01 by FQDN and ping the "Domain.com" DNS
    zone in both ends ).
    Any thoughts on this one?!
    Thank you.

As far as getting the ::1 from being the first resolver go into network properties for ip 6 and modify the address so that both the address and dns are provided via dhcp.  Since you don't have a dhcp server for ip 6 to give a dns record that should
    go away.
If I understand your output correctly DC2 is the new DC.  Do you have a forwarder to on DC2 so that it can find the zone for the root forest?  My guess is no.  I would recommend that although these two DC's are in different domains that they
point at each other as primary DNS (For DC 1 you can't point at DC2 until after it has been properly promoted into the forest).
So to start with change DC2's network settings to point to DC1 or use a conditional forwarder or a secondary zone of the root zone on DC2.

I try that but makes no difference for this scenario.

Your guess wrong - remember, I can validate the credentials at the parent domain, and the setup only freezes at the
"Replicating the schema directory partition" stage.
I tested with forwarders, stubzones, conditional forwarding, IT WALYS FAILS at  "Replicating
the schema directory partition" stage. when the new DC (DC2) is pointing to itself. It only WORKS when is pointing to DC01.

  • Patching Strategy for CRS and ASM homes

I'm fairly new to RAC/ASM and haven't performed any patch set upgrades yet. Back in the simple days when I wanted to apply a patch set to a database, say from 10.2.0.4 to 10.2.0.5, I would create a brand new Oracle home ahead of time and apply the patch set to it. I'd name my homes like this:
    /opt/oracle/product/10.2.0.4/db1
    /opt/oracle/product/10.2.0.5/db1
During the maintenance window I would change /etc/oratab to point the database to the new 10.2.0.5 and complete the database upgrade scripts. The advantages of this strategy:
1 - Less risk installing software as nothing uses the new home yet. If something goes wrong in the install, no big deal. Research the problem and try again without being under the stress of a defined maintenance window.
2 - No need to backup old home for back-out purposes.
3 - Less time required for database to be down during actual patch window since Oracle Installer does not need to run.
Now with CRS and ASM, is there a way to pre-stage a new home for those, but not have them "active" to the node until later during the maintenance window?
For ASM, it seems like it would be possible to treat the same way as database and simply update ASM SID in /etc/oratab
    +ASM1:/opt/oracle/product/10.2.0.5/asm1
but I'm not totally confident in that as I'm afraid the CRS home may already have references to the ASM home in the cluster registry.
For CRS, it seems like the home is pretty well hard-wired into the node startup scripts and installing a brand new CRS home will probably disrupt the running CRS home.
    Any thoughts about this?

Starting with 11.2 for Grid Infrastructure only "out-of-place" patchset upgrades are supported.

Any thoughts about this?As of 11gR2 the ASM is part of the Grid Infrastructure, therefore it is running from the same home and not recommended to separate them. (although you can do that)
By the way, what is your upgrade path? It could be easier to answer your questions if we knew that as there has been a quite a few enhancements and changes in the upgrade/patching process from 10g to 11g. (even between 11gR1 and 11gR2)
