KM Possible options of Archiving

Hi All,
In KM, we want to archive documents after certain period.
Requirement is documents should be archived in different repository and should be available for search.
Please let me know possible approaches

Hi,
Enable Time Based Publising on KM Folder and you will be able to control the visibility of files with validilty of the file (By setting valid from and valid till dates on files).
Also have a KM Report which is scheduled every day, to check for expired files in KM and copy to archive folder (Define some folder/repository to archieve files, also index it, so that files are found in search)
So this approch should solve your problem.

Is it possible to read archive files outside of SAP?

Hi Experts,
I would like to read SAP archived data (*.ARCHIVE.ARCHIVING) with non-SAP application. I already know, that data is automatically compressed (and maybe encrypted?).
My question: Is there some possibility to read archive files outside of SAP? I suppose that would be needed to do some decompress first.

Thanks for your reply. I found some points with your hint. Some summary for others:
460620 - Migrating archive files:
"Archived data may have to be migrated. One solution is to perform an SLO service archive migration. You can also perform an archive migration for archive files using the Archive Development Kit (ADK)."
153433 - Access to archived data from other logical systems
"For data security reasons, the ADK checks whether an archive file was created in the same system and client where it is to be read. If the client, system or file key do no longer correspond to the meta data that were valid at the time of archiving, you can no longer always access the archive file, particularly for reloading. If only the system ID changes when a new installation due to a system copy is carried out, read accesses are still possible. No solution is provided in the standard system. The access to archive files from other logical systems must be taken into account and carried out in a migration project."
Unfortunately, I still do not know if it is possible to read archived data outside of SAP.

File adapter: Additional files option and Archive option

Hi all!
I configure file adapter to take file with two additional files. Additional files is optional. Also I configure to processing mode to archive.
So when I put all three files in folder everything works fine - all files are archived.
Problems begins when I put not all additional files for example:
1) when I put one main file and the FIRST additional file, files are archived, in communication channel monitoring i see error in message java.lang.NullPointerException, but message with payload transfers to IE successful.
2) when I put one main file and the SECOND additional file, the main file archived, the SECOND file NOT archived and stayed in source directory. In CC monitoring I see error message java.lang.NullPointerException, but message with payload transfers to IE successful.
Please provide me with some solution, because I need to archive all files.

1)under processing mode - archive.. give the path thr..
2) To archive source files where a permanent error occurred during processing, select Archive Faulty Source Files

Is it possible to view Archived data online

Hi Team,
We need some information on archiving like,
(1) Is it possible to see archived document online ? if yes then how it is possible and if no then why?
(2) Is it possible to archive data online back in the Transactions ? If yes How can we achieve it?

Option to archive links along with application objects and Idocs

Hi,
SAP Note 505608 says:
"If you archive documents and IDocs on a regular basis, you have the option to archive the link information with the IDocs. You can delete these links in this case. "
Can you plz let me know where exactly is this option provided in the configuration settings/archival settings??

I face this problem before, and here's my solution.
the problem comes from that ApEx replace the #WORKSPACE_IMAGES# with the appropriate link only in its PL/SQL and SQL boxes not inside a schema PL/SQL code.
so I get around this and I pass the #WORKSPACE_IMAGES# as a string the schema function as a varchar2 parameter.
as follows:
create or replace function "FILE_NAME_LINK"
(xapp_id in VARCHAR2,
xapp_rec_id in VARCHAR2,
img_path in VARCHAR2)
return VARCHAR2and inside the function concat the img_path parameter as follows:
xreturn_string := '<img src="'||img_path||'pdficon_small.gif" /> ' || c1.ABSTRACT || '';and so on...
and when you call the function call it like this

You can't stop archiving for session level since archiving is done for a complete log file.

Desktop delivery address - possible options

Hello all,
Classic scenario, EBP 5.0, R/3 4.7
As we have more than 3000 users who will have desktop delivery of ordered items I would like to have Ship-To address defined from employee master record coming from HR system. This address must be visible on Purchase Order issue from backend system to vendor. Users exist only in EBP, not in the backend.
I know that it is possible to enter in "Edit Internal Addresses" all Ship-To addresses but this is manual task and need to be administered every time when employee changes the room. Not to mention that it is necessary to do it initially. Is there any option to do this task with some report. This address is stored in ppoma_bbp, attribute ADDR_SHIP.
Problem is that company regulations do not allow that users manage this address on their own.
So, to ask question, is there any option that address from user master record is visible on purchase order out of backend system or is any possibility to manage initial entry and late administration with some report?

Declare a variable PLANT_ADRNR in the form interface.
In the print program
get Plant address number
SELECT SINGLE adrnr FROM t001w
INTO gv_plant_adrnr
WHERE werks = <EKPO-WERKS>.
Pass this gv_plant_adrnr to form interface variable in the Smartform call function module.
Create a address node in the smartform and provide the address number as your form interface variable &PLANT_ADRNR&.
Now you will get the address.

ALV Grid row selection possible options

Hello Experts,
I have an ALV Grid output with rows color codes based on certain status for each rows.Now when the user selects one or more lines to do the next process, what happens now as sap standard is the selected lines becomes highlighted ( kind of yellowish) and the selection button gets pressed.
But what the user is requesting is ,lets say he selects one blue and another red line, then both becomes yellow (because of the SAP standard highlighting) ...he would like those line colors to be still red and blue and only the selection button pressed.
Is there a way to do that is ALV grid? I'm trying to convince him to look at the status colum if he gets confused with what colors he selected or I will have to use a checkbox field as the first column and and hide the ALV selection option.
But was curious to find if this is possible in ALV?Or any other suggestions to handle this requirement is welcome.

I am curious if your user is so arogant when he buys a car too. Does he say to dealer "Sorry I don't want this gear lever to be placed here and here, I want it a litte bit higher. Can you please fix that?". This sounds like you are struggling with dumb user. I have never heard of someone complaining that the standard highlight is in wrong color. You already provided to him row colors, right? I think most of the users would be hugging you for such facilities.
I think in your case as the user is inalterable you should go for the checkboxes as you say. This way maybe you will somehow satisfy his needs (as the row colors will be kept even during selection). Personally I wouldn't bother such requirements. As long as the program reports correct data, he should not complain at all.

My database is runing in archive log mode.I had taken cold backup on Sunday but i am taking archive log file daily evening.
Wednesday my database crash that means i lost all control file,redo log file,datafile etc.
I have archived log file backup till Tuesday Night and other files like control file,datafile etc of Sunday .
1)Is it possible to recover database till tuesday if yes HOW to use archive log file.
(See SCN no of control file and datafiles is same ,if we use RECOVER DATABASE command oracle shows that media recovery is not requide.)
we don't have current control file we had lost in media crash.

I am looking for doing a chart which has the following

1) Time Duration in the Left Axis and Labels listed in the

3) I have a requirement of displaying some details inside the

Is it possible to print archived Purchase Orders

We are archiving business complete PO's which are beyond 24 months old. However, for Data retention and audit trail purposes, there is a busineess requirement to retreive the print format as needed even after the PO is archived. Transaction SARI does not print an archived PO. Has anyone come across this kind of requirement and how do you address it? Early repsonse is sincerely appreciated.

No, you misinterpreted what I said.
SAP differentiates 2 types of archiving.
1) Data archiving with SARA
2) message archiving (optical archiving) when printing.
if you archive messages (optical archiving) then the document is usually stored in a repository and can be opened with a viewer.
In you message record detail you have a field storage mode, which is either
1 = print only
or 2 = archive only
or 3 = print and archive
in case of 2 or 3 you store messages. these messages are originals and can be viewed and reprinted at any time.
But if you did not archive messages and archived data with SARA, then it is not possible anymore to print again the document.

Is it possible to restict archived bp from search

Dear all,
In our system for some Business Partners which have more than one business partner id.
1. Is it possible to delete the inactive Business partners from the system? What is the impact if we delete.
2. We have suggested our team to archive the inactive Business partner ids, does it impact any where in the system?
3. After we archive the BP's still those are available for search
Is it possible to restrict those archived BP's from the search?
please adivise me on this.

Hi Shaik,
Not sure if the standard takes care of restricting archived BPs. But
BADI_CRM_BUPA_IL_SEARCH can be used to restrict BPs in a search.
Check out the standard implementations available.
If a BP is marked as archived it gets stored in BUT000-XDELE.
Also Check the Help too.

Options to Archive Tables in 10g

I just want to archive one table in oracle 10g data base. Can any on tell me the options to do that?
I have 65M records in that table. Also Do I need to rebuild indexes after archiving the tables?

What do you mean with archiving ??
We e.g. purge data from tables every three months.
This data then is stored in a history database, with an identical schema and identical tables.
To access this historical data an overall history view is created in the source database, that accesses the local real-time table and - through a database link - the history table
After purging data from a table it is smart to shrink (oracle 10g and above ) or rebuild the table and the indexes
