KM repository option

Dear Colleagues,
Please help me on clarifying the doubts with choice of KM repository mode - fsdb or dbfs?
1. Metadata being stored in the db in both the mode,  what happens to them if we attempt to purge or archive the contents directly in the file system. How do we align the metadata if we restore the contents again.
2. Does anybody have experience of configuring any of these two rm with a clustered file system?
3. Can we avoid user mapping in case we are using NTLM?
4. If we using DBFS mode, can any other content management product use the content since the folder is stored in the db?
5. Is there any advantage to transport the metadata via ICE/Webdav if they are stored in db/fs?
Highly appreciate your feedback.
Best regards,
Tridib

Ok then.
First of all people normally use FSDB.
1) It is not recommended to delete the files at OS level as it will not remove the metadata from the db.  Use a webdav connection from windows explorer if you want to be able to delete things quickly.
2) I don't ... but it should work np.
3) Yes.. look at : https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/library/kmc/integration of windows file servers into the sap km platform using sso and the webdav repository manager.pdf or search for SSO and Webdav and you should find it.
4) Yes if it can connect via webdav
5) Webdav is useful for adding / deleting documents as it is the equivalent of adding / removing in the portal, so metadata gets added / deleted.
Hope that helps.  Please give points if you think so.

  • Import from Repository option not working - OBIEE 11.1.1.6.2

    Hello,
We are currently running on OBIEE 11.1.1.6.2. We would like to merge Two Repositories. Well, in addition to "Merge" option we have, we were trying *"Import from Repository"* option but in vain. It is showing the following error:
*[nQsError: 12033] A client tried to connect to a server that is not of the right type*
I understand this option is of low precedence from Oracle and its support. But, just want to know if anyone have used this option and encountered this error. If so, any workaround u wanna suggest. I appreciate any support.
    Thanks.

  • Import from Repository option disabled in offline mode

We need to import usage tracking information from UsageTracking.rpd into our current rpd. For this we shut down BI Services and opened our repository in offline mode. In the Admin Tool when we click on File->Import , the option 'from Repository' is disabled. Any suggestions on why this option is disabled by default in offline mode and how we could enable it.

    Hi
By default, the Import from repository option on the File menu is disabled. When this option is enabled, the Deprecated feature warning dialog box appears each time a user begins the import. If the user clicks yes in the dialog box, the import process continues. If the user clicks No, the import process terminates.
To turn on this option Do the following step
tool->option->General And in that the last option is[b] Allow import from repository
    Check this box.
    Best of Luck

  • Configuring oracle management server 9i using create new repository option

    hi ,
i am trying to install oracle management server using the the option "create new repository "on a system on which oracle database is already installed .after installing oracle management server "configuration assistant appears .the second option is to select a database repository .
first of all can i select the database that was prevouisly installed on my system
or do i need to create a new database before installing oracle management server. but as i did not install any database for oracle management server before i am trying to select the database that was previuosly installed on the system but i gave me a tns error that it could not resolve the service name .after that i noticed that the oms listerner was up and registered . i am trying to stop this listener and start the database listerner so that it may not give me this error.can some one help me out configuring oracle management server on a system creating a new repository

I suggest you to create a different database for the OMS repository. This database can be used for other tools that may require a repository, such as recovery manager.
On the connectivity issue, I suggest you to verify your listener is up and running and it doesn't need to have the instance registered, as of course, it is a new instance. Make sure it is started. For additional troubleshooting on the connectivity issue, you may post the specific tns-12XXX error message displayed.

  • Error while connecting to Repository through Data Manager

    Hi Experts,
I am able to access MDM server through MDM Console, Here mainlyI got two errors.
Error 1:- I am not able to create new repository through Console.when I click on "create Repository" option in Console,it will try to connect DBMS server to create.at the same time I have given Database credentials. It was giving error like" Unable to connect to DBMS server".
Error 2:- I have some repositories in my MDM server.already one repository is running.I am trying to access the running repository in Data Manager as well in as Import Manager and Syndicator.at the same time I am not able to connect to repository giving error like "Repository not loaded".
Note: all the necessary ports are opened as per SAP standard.
Please help me regarding this.if anybody have idea about this.
    Thanks in advance,
    Ravi.

    Hi Ravi,
       Steps to load a repository
       1) Load the MDM server
       2) Start MDM server
       3) There you will find list of repositorys
       4) If required login into the repository
This is the main step you got to perform to solve your second problem
       5) Right click the Repository and select 'Load Repository' and then 'Immediate'
This will load the repository and you can work on the repository from any where either IM,DM or syndicator.
For the first error check wether you have given the proper path for your DBMS server; if you give it right it wont give u any error. If its in local system then by default it be in the list. Else you got to provide the system name where the server is there.
In case of any othere issuse please let me know.

  • SAP MDM Console not allowing to add new fields or load repository

    Hi all,
We are in SAP MDM 7.1 SP06. I do have access to create table, fields, ports etc., And I also have access to load and unload repository.
But when I login to SAP MDM Console and repository, options to load repository --> immediate and update indices are disabled. This is happening for Add/ Delete Table/Fields/Port etc.,
However, if I login to repository using MDM console in another laptop or system using the same userid, I am able to perform all the operations mentioned above.
Can you please help me with any suggestions to fix this. I do not want to reimage my laptop now inorder to fix this.
I tried to uninstall and install mdm console again but in vain.
    Thanks,
    Rajesh

    Hi Rajesh,
In the Main Menu you have a lock sign, click on that and unlock the view.
    This should solve the problem.

  • 10.1.3ea - CVS - Create Local Repository disabled?

I wanted to investigate the CVS - Create Local Repository option as demoed in:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/101/viewlets/101/cvs_viewlet_swf.html
However the menu option is not enabled.
I assume I'm correct in understanding that JDeveloper has its own internal CVS engine, meaning we dont need to connect to an external CVS repository?
There isn't much info available on this feature in the docs. I checked that my Preferences -> Extensions had the Versioning Support x.x option installed. However I'm at a loss to discover why the menu option is still disabled?
Did the imbedded CVS repository option make it to 10.1.3r3 or am I missing something?
    Cheers,
    CM.

JDeveloper has a built-in CVS client, not a CVS server..
So you need to install a CVS server (or have access to a remote one) in order to be able to create a new repository.

  • Compact Repository Function- MDM 7.1

    Hi Experts,
I need some help as in , Is it like the compact repository option has been not incoprated with MDM 7.1 SP 04 or so.
    if yes why ?
or some other option can fulfill its functionality in MDM 7.1 ? how it is impactiong the whole MDM application ?
    Deep

    Hi Deepak,
if anybody can make it more elobrate ?? this is as per my understanding.
Compacting a repository: When the number of records in an MDM repository has been reduced significantly, the MDM repository becomes sparse and the MDM Server becomes less efficient. You can use the Compact command to reduce the runtime memory used by the MDM repository and increase its speed.
Other SDNers - Can you share some more on Compact repository ??
The Compact operation is a legacy utility designed to renumber record IDs in the unlikely case that the total number of records
in a repository becomes greatly and permanently reduced. Because it changes the ID values of existing records in the repository, Compact does not support expressions, workflows, or other MDM features which expect a recordu2019s ID to remain constant. Due to its rare applicability, its incompatibility with newer MDM features, and the greater memory capacity of modern servers, compact functionality has been removed from the MDM Console as of SP6 Patch 3 and should not be used in prior versions of SAP MDM 5.5 SP6.
For more details Please refer Page no 195-196/353 (MDM Console Reference Guide 5.5)

  • Error Updating the Repository (MDM7.1)

    Hi,
We have migrated repository from 5.5 (SP06) to MDM 7.1 SP5. Post migration, when 'Update repository' option is executed, we are getting the error message 'Error updating the repository - The Table could not be modified'.
Update repository is failing and we are not able to move ahead.
Please advise steps that need to be followed to resolve this error.
    Regards,
    Vinay

    Hi ,
Below points have been taken care of. But, we are still facing the same error. Any other suggestions please.
First of all you should be sure that your old repository haven't errors or warning(run repair).
(Vinay : Done. No errors or warnings)
After that you should save all information about your validations, assignments, opened workflows, records under workflows.
    (Vinay: Taken care of)
And delete all of them(i mean validations, assignments, opened workflows and workflows history).
(Vinay: No validations/Assignments or open workflows)
If you are change database(for example Oracle to DB2) you should check all permissions for your database user and database codepage setup(its should be the same as in your old database).
(Vinay: Database is same as before (Oracle))

  • How to get the sample repository data of over 6000 records for products

    Hi,
I have MDM installed and ready to use with the standard 9 repositories provided by SAP. I was wondering if I can get the unarchive .a2a file with the sample data of records (I think over 6000 records) for the Products repository. I have tried to bring in the two .a2a product files that I have, but it was giving version inconsistent errors. How do and where do I get the real sample data (not the one we can create in data manager) correct version provided by SAP, so that I can get my hands on SAP data manager funtionality.
    Thanks in advance,
    N@v!n K

    Hi Navin,
Business Content archives that are provided by SAP for MDM do not come with the sample data.
In the bsuiness content ,if you unzip the file you will see the a2a archive of the rep as provided by SAP and the import /export maps and the lookup data file.
There is no main records that SAP provide with the sap content it is basically the data modell that SAP provides so that the foundation is set for you and you can now import and work with the data.
However if you wish to use the demo repository or the training rep from Inquera then you will same some sample data already loaded in MDM rep to work upon.
    Regarding the version problem
Check the MDM version of the business content rep with the MDM server you are using .They have to match to work correctly.
You can work with a lower archives of the rep(say SP04) with an Upgraded MDM server (say SP06) by using the Update Repository option in the context menu of the MDM server in Console.
But the vice versa is not possible.
Check you MDM server version by clicking on the MDM server and see its details in the right side record detail pane.
To know more on the demo and Inquera rep kinldy view the below links:
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/nw-demomodel#section21 (Demo Rep)
http://www.inquera.com/InqueraCatalog/CustomerLogin.asp(Demo Rep from Inquera you need to register and they will mail you)
    Hope It Helped

  • ODI Console - Execution Repository

    Hi All,
Using ODI11g - One master repository , one DWR and one EWR.
When i login into odiconsole using SUPERVISOR using work repository option.. i can execute scenarios in the Development Work Repository(DWR). But How can i execute scenario in Execution work repository(EWR) using ODIConsole ???
    -Henry.

I think this how it works -
When ODIConsole is installed it creates 2 jdbc connections on weblogic. It points to master and work repository using this jdbc connections.
Hence you can only connect one work repository using ODIConsole.
I change the JDBC to point to EWR and it started showing up objects from that work repository.
It would have been nice if there were option to connect to any work repository while logining into odiconsole. Now the only way around is changing JDBC connection to point to repository of your choice.
    -Henry.

  • Unable to mount MDM repository

    hello,
I'm working with MDM console, I'm able to mount the MDM Server successfuly but when I mount a existing repository, the repository appears with a grey padlock and no tables and subtables appear.
    Any idea?
    Thanks in advance,
    Marta.

    Hi,
This happenns when there is version mismatch between MDM Repository and the Client used to mount the repository.
Try to Update the Repository by right clicking on the repository and select Update Repository option.
Also check the version of the Console and the Repository

  • Update Repository greyed out

    Hi SDNers,
We are upgrading from SAP MDM 7.1 SP2 to SAP MDM 7.1 SP3 .
    Followed the below stps:
    1. I have placed the Respository archive of SP2 in the archive folder of SP3.
    2. Create Repository from Archive -> Give all the details
The repository is getting created and in Unload status.
I know, we have to Update Repository after this.
But the Update Repository option is greyed out.
    Any suggestions.
    Thanks,
    Priti

    Hi Priti,
there's no upgrade of the repository required from 7.1 SP2 to 7.1 SP3. The database schema used for a repository did not change. If you have successfully unarchived you SP2 repository in an SP3 environment, your repository upgrade is basically done. You can use Console's verify function to check if there is everything OK with your repository.
    Best regards

  • How to find what planning sequences/functions update data in a cube?

    Hi, Experts:
We have a real time cube being updated by planning sequences/functions. How can I find what planning sequences/functions are updating this cube?
    Thanks,
    Jenny

    Hi,
You can go the transaction code: rsa1 and then select "Meta data Repository" option on the left side.
You can use Meta data repository to view the dependent objects for a infocube or any other BW object.
In your case, you can select "Infocube" option on the left side and then go on selecting your infocube.
Now you will get all dependent objects created on this infocube, which will include your plannign functions also.
Refer top the following link for more details on "Meta data Repository",
