KM repository permissions

Hi all,
I have created my own file repository with security manager <b>ACL sesurity manager</b>.i have given the permissions according to <b>SAP Note 599425</b>.
But when I am creating a user with c<b>ontent admin</b> ,and giving permissions for my document as  <b>READ</b>.Then also that user has the<b> Full control</b>  on the document. Its not following the permissions set in KM content -permissions-details.
Any help will be appreciated  .
Thanks in advance.

Hi Manish,
When you give the content_admin role to the user with read access it overrides the permissions set in the repository.
Best possible solution is a combination of two earlier replies.
1)Create a NAvigation View of your Repository.
2)Add that to a role and assign that role to the user.
I have implemented this in my solution and it is working fine.
Creating the navigation iview will give you the liberty to modify layout as per user/role.
Please revert back in case of any issues.

Sumit

  • Security 'path' for work repository permissions

I have a dozen work repositories.
I need to allow a developer to access one repository for metadata discovery - Read only, no updates.
Another Work repository, I need to allow a the developer to update the column and table descriptions in any model. I do not want this developer to add folders, models, sub-models, tables, or columns. I do not want the developer to update folders or models. I do not want the developer deleting anything. I do not want the developer accessing other work repositories.
What profiles do I need to give this person?
What modifications do I need to make to the permissions/profiles?

    Hello,
ODI does not allow to define privileges on objects types depending on the work repository, but lets you define privileges on object instances depending on the work repository. In your case, you would need to define the privileges on the instances (using generic profiles). This is not exactly what you need, but this should do the trick.
See the "Defining the Security Policy" topic in the user documentation for more info.

  • KM repository permissions: Full Control vs. Read

    Hi,
When I assign permissions on a KM folder to a group or a role, it get's default "Full Control". Afterwards you can change this to "Read" or any of the other options.
QUESTION: Is it possible to change this so that default "Read" permission is assigned instead of "Full Control"? If yes, where? how?

  • KM Content Management Repository

    Dear All,
We have installed EP7.0 SP10, I would like to strore documents can we use KM internal repsotiory if so do we need to do some configurations. please provide more details on this.
    Regards,
    Murali

    Hi Murali,
After the completion of the installation for usage type EP, you need to perform a number of configuration tasks to enable the basic use of Knowledge Management (KM). These tasks are essential to enable minimal use of KM features. To enable full use of all features, you need to install the Search and Classification Engine (TREX) and configure the scenario Enterprise Knowledge Management.
Specification of the Portal address to enable KM to generate URLs for services.
    Specifying the Portal URL
    System administrator
Configuration of communication channels to enable the use of subscriptions and notifications
    Configuring Channels
    System administrator
Configuration of local editing to allow users to check out documents and edit them with applications of their own choice.
    Enabling Local Editing
    System administrator
Assignment of the content manager role to a user who is responsible for organizing content creation, access and publication.
    Assigning the Content Manager Role
    User administrator
Assignment of tasks to instances of KM running in a SAP J2EE cluster. This step is only necessary for a cluster installation.
Cluster Only: Assigning Tasks to Nodes
    System administrator
Removal of the cluster setting. This step is only necessary if one instance of KM is running on a single machine, for example, on a test or demo system.
Single Instance Only: Removing the Cluster Setting
    System administrator
Optional removal of the Search field and Advanced Search option in the Portal. If your installation does not include the Search and Classification engine (TREX), which enables the use of search within KM, you can hide the search feature.
Installation Without TREX: Hiding the Search Field
    Content administrator
    Assignment of permissions to folders.
    Setting Permissions
    Content administrator
Permissions define which users have which access rights for items in KM repositories (folders, documents, and links).
You need read permission for the item in question in order to display its permissions.
You must be entered in the list of permission owners in order to change the permissions.
There are two types of permission in Knowledge Management:
    Permissions (for the item itself)
These permissions define permission to read, write, and delete items.
You can set the permissions for all items (folders, documents, links).
    Service Permissions
Service permissions define permissions for functions that are provided by KM services, such as subscriptions.
You can only set service permissions for folders.
In the folder hierarchy of a KM repository, permissions are inherited by subordinate folders from superordinate folders.
When you create a new item in a KM folder, the item initially has no access control list. Instead, it inherits the permissions of the superordinate folder.
When you change and save the permissions, the system creates a separate ACL for the item in question. Inheritance no longer takes place. From this point on, changes to the permissions of the superordinate folder are no longer inherited by the subordinate object.

  • Restrict users to see some colums from an report

    Hi,
is there a way to restrict users (group of users) to see some columns in a report.
    For example:
mr X to see both quantity and price columns
and mr Y to see just quantity column
    in the same report
or I have to make 2 report one with both columns and one with just an column.
    Thanks in advance
    best regards
    Nicolae Ancuta

    Hi Nicolae ,
Security is enforced on two levels:
Object-level security controls access to Metadata Repository objects (configured in
Administrator Tool), and Web Catalog objects such as Folders, Filters, and Dashboards, etc. (configured in BI Answers Web Application). Data-level security controls access to content and data in end-user Reports and Dashboards (configured in Administrator Tool). Administrator Tool Manage Menu item Security Manager is used to define Users and User Groups and define Repository permissions.
Data-level permissions can be set to above Groups and Users from the Presentation Table properties dialog box of each Subject area.BI Answers Web Page, Settings Menu
Administration, to view and administer privileges associated with various components of the Answers Web application.

  • How to restrict permissions of fields in a repository file?

    Hi Everybody,
I am trying to restrict permissions to fields in the repository file without affecting existing reports/dashboards.
When I restrict access to a variable (e.g. Job Requisition) it disappears from the available fields in the application, but the following error message appears when opening a analysis that uses that field:
    Error Codes: OPR4ONWY:U9IM8TAC:OI2DL65P:OI2DL65P
State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 27005] Unresolved column: "Requisition Facts"."Job Requisition Open To Offer Extended (Days)". (HY000)
We want to avoid users continue including some fields when creating new reports without affecting existing analysis/report.
Can this be done by changing something else in the repository file? Or is there any other way to do this?
Thanks in advance for any idea/suggestion.

    Hi,
You mean you restricted "Requisition Facts"."Job Requisition Open To Offer Extended (Days)" in repository for few users, but they are getting nQSError: 27005 when they are openings reports in which this column is already used? Is this what you mean
If so stop your BI Server and go to NQSConfig.INI and change the parameter PROJECT_INACCESSIBLE_COLUMN_AS_NULL which is under security section. By default it is set to NO. Make it YES and restart BI Server. As you restricted that column its showing that error,if you make it show as NULL it will not show any error.

  • Change permissions for UME repository

    Dear friends,
Is it possible to change permissions for the ume repository. By default, it has "Allow" permission for List Children and Read properties. I dont see any options to change permissions under Settings -> permissions. Does anyone here in this forum knows how can I achieve the same? I am actually trying to index the ume repository and the crawler fails. I was wondering if the repository needed to have a full control. So, I am trying to change the permissions.

  • How to control permissions in KM using File System Repository Manager

    Hello everybody
I have a scenario with 15+ file servers which content needs to be mapped into Portal KM as read-only.
Windows Authentication is configured on the portal, so the users don't need to supply the portal with username/password.
Now the users are of course only allowed to see the same content in the portal as they can see on the file servers. I know that the permission mapping can be done using a File System Repository Manager with W2KSecurityManager, but in that case the users will have to maintain the mapping of rights from windows to portal manually. And with ever-changing passwords this is too big an administrative task. So I am looking for another solution.
    My question is therefore:
How can you configure the File System Repository Manager in a way where it the user does not need to maintain "user mapping" manually, but only need to logon to the portal (through windows authentication) and can see the same files from the portal as he/she can see from the file servers.
Can this information in some way be taken from the configured Windows Authentication? Or is the only solution to enable WebDav on the file servers and and follow the "Integration of Windows File Servers into the SAP KM platform Using SSO and the WebDAV Repository Manager"-guide?
    Any help will be rewarded.
    Best regards,
    Martin Søgaard

    Hi again Dirk
I just studied the "Integration of Windows File Servers into the SAP KM platform using SSO and the WebDAV repository manager"-guide in depth and I don't quite understand what rights the cmadmin_service and notificator_service are supposed to be given in the Active Directory. In the guide it says:
"A number of global services and repository services need to perform operations on resources in various repositories. For example, the index management service must read all resources it is meant to index. When an index is created, the service user index_service is used. Therefore, this user has to have at least read access to all repositories that are to be indexed. Other users that are used by the SAP KM platform are the service users notificator_service and cmadmin_service. When a search is taking place, it is the user that is currently logged on to the portal."
I dont quite understand what the two service users are doing but more importantly, I need to give the two service users the correct permissions in the Active Directory (or through user mapping). I understand that index_service only needs read_only permissions, but what permissions should the cmadmin_service and notificator_service be given?
    Best regards,

  • Repository Folders Access Permissions

    Hey everyone
We are having a problem which is:
    1) We create a folder in the explore repository. (By default everyone has access permission to this folder)
    2) We need to assign only 1 user to access this file.
    3) When we do that in a normal situation and try to change the provisioning to make only 1 person view the files, we get a list of 10,000 users who have access permissions and we have to remove them one by one which is a very slow process.
This problem is because the default of Hyperion is when you create a folder, everyone has access to it by default. Can we alter the default option to not include anyone who can access it?
Any method to solve this will be highly appreciated.

The users/groups have been provisioned in Hyperion Shared Services with the Reporting and Analysis role "Trusted Application".
NOTE: Trusted Application role gives access to every folder in Workspace. It enables credentialed client-server communication of Interactive Reporting database connection files. Careful consideration should be taken before this role is assigned to users who access Workspace.
Remove the Trusted Application role in Shared Services by performing the following steps:
Log into Shared Services as an admin user.
Right-click on a group or user affected, and select Provision.
    Remove the Trusted Application role.
Repeat for all the other users and groups affected.
Log into Workspace as a user you have edited.
Verify that the Workspace contents is displayed based on the Permissions set.

  • Changing user permissions SQL Database Server for OBIEE repository

    Hi All
We have installed OBIEE 11g and are using database SQL Server 2008 R2.
The users of the repositories are connected to the master database, and our client query if these users can be disconnected from the master database, so that only stay connected to their corresponding repositories.
    Please help with this question.
    Regards
    Pedro

    Hi,
You can move out of Master database with SQL server. If such a case is being considered then you have to create a database with SQL server then move all the existing OBI repository's and its users to the new Database. Once this change is complete on the Database side on Weblogic Database connect strings needs to be changed.
Let me know if this helped.

  • Migration 11, permissions in OBIEE in Repository are not working

    Dear all,
In O-BIEE 10g we are using LDAP authentication. For privileges and permissions we store for each user the groups in an Oracle DB table.
In O-BIEE 11g we are using the same logic. Atuhentication with LDAP. Permissions and privileges are coming from the database table.
    This is the select statement:
    select EMPLOYEE_ID, OBIEE_GROUP, OBIEE_GROUP from OBIEE_AUTHORIZATION WHERE LDAP_USER = 'VALUEOF(NQ_SESSION.USER)'
and this is an example of the result: (I receive this result in der RPD)
    grpFinanzenpoweruser;grpPersonalpoweruser
If I start oracle bi answers and dashboard I can see bouth groups in a ist (My Account)
    grpFinanzenpoweruser
    grpPersonalpoweruser
The permissions and privileges and its hierarchy in the frontend is working fine. I can see the catalog, the dashboards, all the tools like answers ans so on.
But I have no access to the Subject Areas. All queries in all dashboards are refused. I receive the following message:

  • DFS replication stopped working and cannot be debugged because WMI repository cannot be accessed

    Hello,
two days ago our DFS replication suddendly stopped working sometime around midnight local time. At least this is what our second domain controller is reporting. Event log is flooded with event id 5002 from DFSR. It is unclear what caused this sudden problem
and even worse, how to solve it. First thing I tried was to perform propagation tests. According to propagation report none of them was successful. Creating an integrity report brought me to another problem: It fails with two errors. First it is unable to
connect to the other DC. Second it is unable to access local WMI repository. This is true for both machines.
First I tried to find information on possible problems with WMI. WMIdiag provided a lot of information. However, opinions I found on the net largely disagree whether output from WMIdiag is useful or not. Yet I tried to re-compile .mof files and rebuild the
repository. So far, nothing changed. This is my output from WMIdiag:

34779 13:02:46 (0) ** => This error is typically a WMI error. This WMI error is due to:
    34780 13:02:46 (0) ** - a missing WMI class definition or object.
34781 13:02:46 (0) ** (See any GET, ENUMERATION, EXECQUERY and GET VALUE operation failures).
34782 13:02:46 (0) ** You can correct the missing class definitions by:
    34783 13:02:46 (0) ** - Manually recompiling the MOF file(s) with the 'MOFCOMP <FileName.MOF>' command.
34784 13:02:46 (0) ** Note: You can build a list of classes in relation with their WMI provider and MOF file with WMIDiag.
34785 13:02:46 (0) ** (This list can be built on a similar and working WMI Windows installation)
34786 13:02:46 (0) ** The following command line must be used:
    34787 13:02:46 (0) ** i.e. 'WMIDiag CorrelateClassAndProvider'
34788 13:02:46 (0) ** Note: When a WMI performance class is missing, you can manually resynchronize performance counters
34789 13:02:46 (0) ** with WMI by starting the ADAP process.
    34790 13:02:46 (0) ** - a WMI repository corruption.
34791 13:02:46 (0) ** In such a case, you must rerun WMIDiag with 'WriteInRepository' parameter
34792 13:02:46 (0) ** to validate the WMI repository operations.
34793 13:02:46 (0) ** Note: ENSURE you are an administrator with FULL access to WMI EVERY namespaces of the computer before
34794 13:02:46 (0) ** executing the WriteInRepository command. To write temporary data from the Root namespace, use:
    34795 13:02:46 (0) ** i.e. 'WMIDiag WriteInRepository=Root'
34796 13:02:46 (0) ** - If the WriteInRepository command fails, while being an Administrator with ALL accesses to ALL namespaces
34797 13:02:46 (0) ** the WMI repository must be reconstructed.
34798 13:02:46 (0) ** Note: The WMI repository reconstruction requires to locate all MOF files needed to rebuild the repository,
34799 13:02:46 (0) ** otherwise some applications may fail after the reconstruction.
34800 13:02:46 (0) ** This can be achieved with the following command:
    34801 13:02:46 (0) ** i.e. 'WMIDiag ShowMOFErrors'
34802 13:02:46 (0) ** Note: The repository reconstruction must be a LAST RESORT solution and ONLY after executing

There are a lot of error in the report and I don't know, whether they are relevant or how to solve them. To my current knowledge, I need to solve at least some of them so that I can access the local WMI repository again and get replication back working.
But after hours of research I am stuck. Any hints are greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Oliver

I don't know why, but soon after posting this, I found a solution to the problem. The WMI part was solved in this thread:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/953be9ef-e9e3-4885-a5c4-47fc475ba562/dfs-is-not-working-anymore?forum=winserverfiles
    The relevant portion is this:
Open a CMD prompt in %windir%\system32\wbem
    mofcomp dfsrprovs.mof
    net stop winmgmt
    net start winmgmt
    net start iphlpsvc
    net stop dfsr
    net start dfsr
I don't know why recompiling of all mof did not solve the problem, but the solution above did. Restarting the DCs solved the communication issue. I don't know why the primary DC forgot about the WMI DFS provider or why communication failed. However, it is
    working again, it seems.

  • How to update many documents in one go using portal permissions

    Hello,
I have two users in the portal with different permissions on a folder:
    rct2774: Total control
    rct3343: Read
So, connected to the portal, rct3343 can´t upload (or erase) any document.
Now, I´ve followed these instructions to update many documents in one go (found in "how to upload a folder containg HTML files in a KM folder" topic 22 - jun - 2006)
    "You can use the WebDaV.
    1. Get the WebDav path of your KM folder by going to details->properties->Access Links
    2. Copy the url for the WebDav
    3. Go to your desktop. Right Click on My Network Places.
    click on open.
    4. Click on add a network place.
    5. Click on "Choose another network location"
    6. Paste your copied url and click on next.
    7. Enter your portal userid and password. Now drag and drop your files from desktop. "
But, updating this way both users (rct2774 and rct3343) can update, download and erase any document that belongs to that location.
Do you know a way to update many documents in one go respecting or keeping the portal permissions?
    Thanks in advance.
    Best Regards,
    Esteban

    Hi Marc,
First of all, thaks for your prompt reply. I´m new in these themes and any help is wellcome.
We are doing many tests now, so we´re using the server portal as repository in itself. It´s quite strange because the permissions work at the portal correctly but not by the other way.
Should I download the portal drive to the client PC for mantain the portal permissions?
    Thank you!

  • Mac Mini with Mavericks Windows Server Access Permissions Problem

We have a Mac Mini that was running Lion. This machine was joined to our Active Directory network using Beyond Trust’s PowerBroker Identity Services add-on. This had been working fine with no issues.
We recently had to change the permissions on the file server (Windows Server 2012) for one of the directory branches. The share permissions are set to Modify and the file permissions were set so the user of the Mac had full control over the files.
The Mac then started experiencing a problem where it could not open some of the files on the network this only affected certain files or folders. A couple of other machines we have running Mavericks who are not domain joined had no problems accessing the files when connected to the share as the same user.
I then upgraded the Mac to Mavericks after removing the Beyond Trust software. The Mac was then re-joined to the domain using the native support of Mavericks. This fixed the problem temporarily and by this all seems fine for maybe one or two hours and then suddenly you cannot access files anymore.
When I looked at the permissions of a file that could not be opened it was showing the same user name twice. One with r/w access and the other with Custom. If the Mac was re-booted the problem would disappear again for another hour or so but then come back.
Thinking the issue was with the AD integration yesterday I took the Mac off the domain and just left it as standalone connecting to the server. The local user accounts that were from the AD user have been deleted so there is now only Administrator, Guest (disabled) and the user. This has not fixed the problem.
What I have noticed is that while it is working when you look at the permissions on the file through finder they say “You have custom access”. When it is broken the permission change to showing the user multiple times, etc.
I have reset the permissions on the server a number of times and it makes no difference.
I am assuming that when it is working the Mac is reading the permissions correctly from the Windows Server and then it suddenly decides to use some other set of permissions it is getting locally to the files.
Does anyone have any idea how I can fix this?
    Thanks

Both OS X and OS X Server can host Subversion (SVN), yes.  That's been possible for many years, and there are directions posted around the 'net for downloading and installing and setting up the Subversion server.
Distributed source code control packages (and links from there) — such as Mercurial and particularly git — would be some of the more common and newer technologies used here.  These too can be installed on OS X and OS X Server.
On the 'net, Subversion, git, Mercurial, Bizaar and other distributed packages are all platform-independent.  The remote clients don't know and don't care about the type of server hosting the repository.
As for your Mavericks Server question — and quoting directly from this Apple web page, and thus permitted to be posted here — "The new features in Xcode Server make it easier than ever for a Mac or iOS development team to create robust, reliable software, thanks to continuous integration, testing, and repository hosting services."    (Beyond this quote and any other officially-public Apple statements or public Apple presentations, you'll have to be a registered Apple Developer to gather more information and potentially access to the previews, as OS X Mavericks and Mavericks Server and Xcode 5 are all presently under NDA.)

  • Problem uploading content into repository over WebDAV

    Hi,
Sorry if the questions is responsed yet, but I haven't found it.
I am a new user in Oracle and Oracle XML DB. I have installed Oracle Database 10g Release 10.2.0.1. The dabase was created through the wizard and I have enabled 2100 and 8080 ports to work with FTP, HTTP and WebDAV. I have also created a new USER called DAVID with DBA permissions.
With this user I can upload 'not xml-content based' resource over FTP with different sizes but when I try to upload it over WebDAV I receive a message windows error and the resource is partially uploaded always with less than 500 bytes.
For example, I have upload a chm file with 19Mb. over FTP but I can't do the same over WebDAV.
What is the problem???? What I can do???
    Thanks in advance,
    David

OK!, I can't created a bigfile tablespace, I specified only 1024Mb. but oracle tries to create a tablespace with 192Gb.
Finally, I have created a normal tablespace (initial size 500Mb), I have opened 2100 and 8080 ports to operate with FTP, WebDAV and HTTP.
Transfer over FTP works well but WebDAV continues with problem.
I have read the Bug 3703236 posted by mdrake, but I don't found any comment that helps me to solve the error.
As it say if I rename any file to xml, I can uploading to the repository over WebDAV without problem, but this file can't be renamed. For instance, in repository file system, rename msmsgs.xml to msmsgs.exe returns an error.
Also I have opened a TAR.
    Any Idea?.
    Thanks in advance,
    David.
