KM repository to WPC

Hi,
is there any easy way or any way at all to convert a KM-based site (KM repository and roles) into a WPC site.
E.g. i have a portal role mainly relying on existing KM content. I then upgrade to my EP7 to include the WPC functionality. The question  is do i have to recreate all pages with the WPC of is there a better way to convert the existing content?
Thanks
Regs,
LD

You can actually drop the KM Navigation iViews onto WPC pages by navigating through the pcd when you add content. It allows you to go with WPC pages while keeping the functionality of the standard KM in terms of tracking document renames and movements to keep links updated. WPC does not replace the KM repository, though. It simply displays it.  The documents stay in the KM.

  • Anonymous access to the WPC pages of the Web Content repository

During setting up access of anonymous user to Web Page Composer pages we need to use Web Content repository that is not in the Documents repository.
As is in the note 837898 there are no prefixes for WPC pages in the URL Generator Service.
So the an anonymous user get login screen then attempt to access any WPC pages of the Web Content repository.
How to achieve that content in the Web Content repository get as Content Link property the value '/irj/go/km/docs/wpccontent/u2026', rather than '/irj/servlet/prt/prtroot/...'?

    Hi Vladimir
Did you try the following from the note:
    2. Open the PCD Editor as Content Administrator: Content Administration > Portal Content > Portal Content > Portal Users > Standard Portal Users > Standard User Role > Open > Object
    a) Navigate to Home (note the tooltip "com.sap.km. home_ws") > Hidden > URL Access.
               b) Open contained iView: Document (km-doc-iview) for editing
               c) Select the property category "Advanced"
               d) Change the property "Authentication Scheme" to "anonymous"
               e) Save the changes.
I think that ought to fix your problems.
Else go see this note 1237530 as it describes that there has been some mis-coding internally in WPC with relation to using /irj/go/km/docs instead of standard servlet.

  • Cannot find the Web Content repository in test system under KM Content

    Hi Experts,
We have implemented Web Page Composer in our development landscape. I have created a web page with the required content in the development and now wish to transport this web page and its content to our test system.
However when I navigate to Content Administration -> KM Content, inside the root directory I am not able to find the Web Content repository within which all WPC content resides.
I want to know what configuration has to be done in the test system so that the Web Content repository becomes available within KM Content.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Saurabh

    Hi,
I just want a confirmation on whether I will have to deploy the .SCA file for Web Page Composer in my test and production systems to be able to use the web pages I have created in the development environment.

  • WPC installed but not showing up in KM configuration

We just installed WPC 7.0 SP 14 patch 4 on our portal server.  The installation went well, and I can see the WPC component in system configuration, but I do not see its configuration screens in KM.  For example, when I go to System Administration -> System Configuration -> Knowledge Management -> Content Management, I should see a link to Web Page Composer. That link is not there.
We never saw this behaviour in our Dev and QA portals when we installed WPC.  The only different between our Dev\QA portals and production is that production is a clustered environement.
Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this issue?

    Hi Andrew,
You have to assigh a WPC Editor Role to access the WPC. After adding the role you can able to access WPC where you can design and publish web pages.
Those webpages are automatically saved in KM. You can access these WPC contents in \entrypoint repository.
Check by doing this. Whther you can do it.

  • Document management in WPC

    Hi,
I understand that KM can be used for document management related tasks like check out, check in, versioning etc. I would like to know if it is a good practice to manage the documents corresponding to a site in the Site Content folder of WPC. I personally feel this way the user will be able to easily locate and  manage documents corresponding to a site easily. But I am not sure as to what could be the disadvantage or probable features of KM that I would end up losing if I follow this approach? Will it have any performance impact? Pls advice.
Also I would like to know if there are images corresponding to a site/sub-site is Site Content folder of WPC the best place to store or should it be stored in KM?
If the documents are uploaded in Site Content folder how can we get the Edit locally context menu when the user browses to a particular folder in Site Content where the document is located? This is because currently I will have to select the 'Details' context menu available and then chose 'Edit locally' option from the 'Actions' menu to check out a file.

    Hi Vijaya,
WPC uses the SAP usage type EP with KM.
And KM is the content management ability provided by SAP.
When you create some thing in WPC like webpages and all, by default all those stored inside the SAP KM  repository. Check for the \etc repository. There you can see the WPC contents.
Thats correct you can see the folder site content under WPC. But all those information stored in KM.

  • JavaScript and CSS info in WPC

    Hi all,
Is it possible to keep CSS (Stylesheet) and Javascript information from older html web pages and bring them into Web Page Composer? We have some older intranet web pages which we now want to display in the portal without ofcourse using URL iViews; so the content remains local to KM and the relevant roles can be assigned to different authors and editors of the website so it can be modified through the portal and WPC?
Any tips, hints and helpful suggestions are welcome.
    Regards,
    Tony.

    Hi Tony.
Yes, it's possible. Read [Wiki WPC FAQ|https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/KMC/WebPageComposer-FrequentlyAskedQuestions+%28FAQ%29#WebPageComposer-FrequentlyAskedQuestions%28FAQ%29-WhataboutusingstandardHTMLpagesinWPC%3F].
KM supports relative links in HTML documents so it may be necessary include any dependent files in the same folder as the HTML document.
In case of a web page and its dependent files are stored in different folders you need editing the source html code:
    1. use Portal Drive and any text editor (I prefer Notepad++. It has the feature "Search and Replace in files") to open the html source file.
    2. search for links to dependent files and add the following pattern: /irj/go/km/docs//<path to an dependent file>/ before a filename, for example:
You have a web page with css file. The page is stored in documents repository under the folder with ID old_pages. The css is resides in css folder.
    So the existing code
    <LINK REL=STYLESHEET TYPE="text/css" HREF="css/style.css">
    should be replaced with the

  • PCD folder in KM content throwing error (WPC Iviews)

    Hello KM&C Forum Users,
After following the initial configuration for the WPC in SAP Help I tried using the pcd connection that I had made in the KM content to add an iview to a Web page. I get the following error in the Content window of the KM Content:
    System Error
An exception occurred during program execution
    Go back and try again
These are the errors from the default trace:
    null java.lang.ClassCastException
         at com.sap.portal.pcd.km.rm.PcdFolderNode.getChildren(PcdFolderNode.java:82)
    and
    null java.lang.ClassCastException
         at com.sap.portal.pcd.km.rm.PcdFolderNode.getChildren(PcdFolderNode.java:82)
(These are just partial snippets of the logs. If requested I could add the complete log entry)
I have followed the directions in SAP help how this connection is to be made (checked and rechecked) and I also found the instructions of how to do the additional configuration in the wpcDragExplorerEntryPoints. I added the following:
    displaymode=select,maxproviderprio=30,entriesperrow=5,sharedcontent=/wpccontent/Cross-Site Content;/pcd/portal_content/Web_Page_iViews
Additionally I checked the Virtual Root Repository and the PCD repository is not excluded.
I also checked and insured that in the PCD repository the Property Search Manager is on "Not set".
I have checked through notes and found note 1450398 and uploaded the patch  for my System which is by the way
NW 7.0 SPS 21 stand alone portal
I have also found 2 different notes that mention an "inconsistency between com.sap.tc.pcd.kmsearchadapter.par and the servicepack " but it wasn't mentioned what was done to remove the inconsistency.
As you all can see I have been through notes, Wiki's, Forum entries. SAP Help and SAP notes to no avail. Can anyone out there help me to get rid of this problem?
    Thanks in advance
    Paul

    Hello Raghu,
Thanks for your quick reply. As I mentioned above I have seen these notes but unfortunately I can find no information to the inconsistencies. I am the Portal SAP Basisin this instance and haven't found anything that would help me in this direction. Maybe if you could ask your Basis people what had to be done that would help me considerably
    Thanks again

  • WPCEditor folder not available in KM root folder after WPC installation

Let me know if more clarification is required.

  • Wpc permission problem

    Hello All,
We have problem in our portal, hope somebody can help to fix this problem
We have wpc installed in our portal server, and in wpc we create some sites, let we say site A, site B and site C.
We also have some content admin that responsible to each site, so there are admin A, admin B and admin C.
We give wpc role to each admin, but now, the admin cannot access the wpc editor, when they click wpc editor menu, there is an error "Access denied" coming.
Cause this error, our administrator try to give role "content_admin" to each content admin, and now they can access the wpc editor like usual.
But, after assigning role content admin, each admin now can access other site with full access authorization. Admin A can access site B and C, admin B can access site A and C, and admin C can also access site A and B, with full access authorization.
So, the question is, how to return this problem to initial condition ?in order to each admin only can access they site with full access authorization, and only get READ authorization to other sites.
we really sorry if our question confused
    Thanks in advance

    Hi ,
You need to follo the below steps
    1.Under system admin -->permission -->Portal permission --> security zone -->com.sap.nw.wpc
open medium_safety with permission  window  add everyone group with none and wpc_editor_role with read permission.
Follow the same step for no_safety.
2.In KM repository under etc folder check the permission of wpceditor folder .
you need to add wpc_editor_role and everyone group with read permission.
3.Check the permission of site and cross-site content folder in KM repository.
You need to add  wpc_editor_role  and everyone group with read permission.
Here you can add any group (custom created for site admin ) with read write  permission.
You can indirectly assign users to the role by assigning groups.
For each Web site, create one or more groups for editors and authors.
Assign the groups to the wpc_editor_role role.
    Assign users to the groups.
Hope these will resolve your problem.

    Sandip

  • Unable to add PDF docs into WPC pages?

    HI All,
I'm using the Home Page layout in WPC to create a web page.
But I'm not able to add PDF document in those pages.
I added the MIME types to wpc_container_def_main1, ..main2 & ..main3 containers in Content Management configuration.
    But it didn't work.
How do I add the pdfs then?
    Thanks
    Thruna Shanmuga

    Eduardo,
    Thanks for your reply.
I know that we can create a KM document iview to access PDF/image/doc thru KM repository.
But my requirement is, to add the PDF file directly in to WPC page for SAP Standard layout.

  • WPC - Adding iviews to a web page

    Hi All,
    1. I understand webdynpro iviews are not supported with WPC, can any body list a few which are?
    2. I have followed the links for creating entry point for the iviews and not able to find them in the webcontent folder.
Can anybody describe in detail, what has to be done in order to get the iviews into the webpage.
    Regards,
    DJ

    Hi,
To Create Entry points, you should follow the following procedure.
    Procedure
Carry out the steps below to create a global entry point.
           1.      Choose System Administration ® System Configuration ® Knowledge Management ® Content Management ® User Interface ® (Show Advanced Options) ® Mapping ® Component.
           2.      Edit the wpcDragExplorerEntryPoints configuration object.
In the Parameters field, you can enter the following properties:
    Property
    Description
    displaymode
    Specify select
    maxproviderprio
Enter a value for the highest priority number that standard entry points can have and still be displayed in the Web content browser The priority of standard entry points is between 3 and 80. For a list of standard entry points and their priorities, see the configuration at Content Management ® Repository Managers ® Entry Point Providers ® Entry Point Provider.
    entriesperrow
Number of entry points displayed in each row (default: 5)
    entrypointsprefix
Prefix of the entry point repository
If you specify a value for this parameter, standard KM entry points are also displayed in the Web content browser.
    Default: /entrypoints
    sharedcontent
Semicolon-separated list of paths to be displayed as global entry points for shared content
Example of a complete specification in the Parameter field:
    displaymode=select,maxproviderprio=30,entriesperrow=5,sharedcontent=/wpccontent/Cross-Site Content;/documents/MyFolder

  • Permissions Issue with displaying WPC web page

    Hi All (and Eric Heilers!)
I created and published a web page using web page composer. I added the web page to an iView and in turn the iView to a role. I assigned the role to myself and I was successfully able to see the Web Page....all was well.
Next I created a new test user and assigned a bunch of roles to a user group (one of the roles contained the web page iview). The role doesn't render the web page inside of the iView for the test user. I have given the test user Read/Write and also resorted to giving the user Owner permissions in almost everything but still I cannot render the web page!! I have tried permission in Security Zones in page builder (no_safety, and medium_safety), i have tried in, Portal Content Directory and also tried adding the test user full control permission from within the Web Page Composer role at the web site owner level. Still nothing. At best I was able to render the little toolbar which contains 'Edit" and 'RSS Feed' options on the top right, but not the web page itself.
Any helpful hints, suggestions, tips greatly welcome.
    Kind regards,
    Tony.

    Thanks for your reply Eric,
So I'm just going to step thru this with you,
    Prerequisites:
URL generator service -> I do not want to make the web pages externally accessible yet.
MIME handler service -> Is active.
    Procedure
    1) CM Repository Manager (this is optional so I didnt do it)
    2) Folder Structure (Check)
    3) Global Entry Points (this is optional so I didnt do it)
    4) Configuring Entry Points for iViews (this is optional so I didnt do it)
    5) I have created iViews to display the Web Pages
    6) I have given relevant permission in security zones. (This is also where you advised me to do it for com.sap.nw.wpc -> wpc)
    7) Although optional I am using this strategy to create group for roles and iViews created in Step 5 above.
    8) I have assigned the relevant roles and group to users.
    9) I have defined permissions in the web content repository.
    10) I haven't configured search for web pages
    11) I haven't configured localisation for languages and regions.
    12) I haven't done any performance optimizing.
Now, from this you can see why I feel like I have done all that is necessary so far.
    Any further suggestions?
Also, is there a way to upload a html page to the Web Pages folder and just publish that instead of using the WPC layout? As I want to keep all the javascript and stylesheet information? *
    Kind regards,
    Tony.
