KM Thumbnail Explorer Layoutset, few images do not preview issue

Hi, I'm using a thumbnail explorer layoutset to display thumbnail image previews of jpg images in a km folder. For some reason, 3 out of 20 images are not displaying in the thumbnail view. In place of the image it shows a small icon in the lower left area that depicts a letter icon with an image icon on top. Anyone know what causes this or what is required to correct it? Note, the image displays ok when the icon is clicked, just the preview is not available.

thanks very much for your reply. After investigating the file size for the particular files, they were indeed all over 8mb. I am in the process of resizing the files to see if it works. I'm sure it will.

In iPhoto, my thumbnails show but larger images do not, why?

I am having trouble with some of my larger images not showing up in iPhoto. I click on "Faces" and go into pictures of my mom that I have tagged. I see all the thumbnail images of her, but when I click to view the images larger, it doesn't show the picture. It shouws a triangle with a !

The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

The navigation thumbnail in the developpement panel is not refreshed

Since few days, the navigation thumbnail in the developpement panel is not refreshed (when the mouse is over a preset or when a modification is done on the image). When I'm coming from the grid panel and going to the developpement panel, the navigation thumbail is refreshed for the selected image but once I change the focus to another image it's not working anymore...
I tried to optimize the catalog and also re-generated images previews...
I'm using Lightroom 3.6 with Canon Raw files.
Do you have any clues ?

I hate to dredge up an old thread but.... I'm now for the first time seeing this same problem using LR 5 on a mac w 10.8.4 Exactly as the original poster indicated. Should I dump the pref file? or is there something else going on. I have restarted the computer but after applying a preset and then reverting to the original, no preset previews are available from my presets list. selecting another image does not fix issue.
Not a huge deal but annoying for sure. Anybody have a suggestion?

Images are not being display in people search for few users - why ?

In my farm, users having profile picture in UPSA and they are able to see in My Profile page as well.
However when I find user in People search - images are not being display for few users while for others it works.
I have checked picture property which is indexed and then I run full crawl still its same issue.
Following are the settings for Picture Property - would you please let me know why its still not being display in people search ?

Photo flow object not using thumbnails, only the primary image

I'm currently evaluating the trial version of this to see if it's something we can tweak to the way we'd like it, and I can't seem to get the object to use the thumbnail views (presumably for the angled views to either side of the centered image). What we're trying to do is to use a version of the image with a fixed location "tool tip" above it when it's centered and displayed at the full size, but use a "thumbnail" image that doesn't have this. The intention is when an image is centered, a box will be above the image with a brief description (the powers that be want it stationary rather than hover with the mouse location), but the thumbnail views to either side will not have it.

"magesFolder" is set to PhotoShow/images (relative to the location of index.html), and the images load fine...it's just that I've tried swapping thumbnail images to mix them up (even with the example version I downloaded), and it seems as though it's using the primary image for both the thumbnails and the centered version. Is there a variable missing from the XML file or a PARAM missing from the HTML file that would enable/disable the use of thumbnails globally.
Is this perhaps an undocumented limitation in the trial download version that would be remedied in the paid version, or is there something else amiss?

HTML articles and InDesign articles that use JPEG or PNG image format display thumbnail images in the Folio Producer Editor. However, no thumbnails appear in articles that use the PDF image format.

Thumbnails of images will not show

When using bridge on some of my computers, thumbnails of images will not show, only a generic .eps icon. We are trying to view files from an Art Explosions CD library and are using Bridge CS6 V 5.0.0.399

I made sure the 'Show Icon Preview' box was checked. This is about all I can do, really, Frank, as i don't know enough about the workings of these machines to start fiddling about.
Strangely the images show as previews in some folders, yet not in others, even though they come from the same sources (my camera and my phone).

Thumbnail image is not the same image as the picture that shows when opened

When I look at a thumbnail image in iPhoto and then I click to open that picture a different picture appears on the screen and the thumbnail image is not opened. It's almost like they are both within that image, one appearing in the thumbprint and one in the full image. So if I want to print a thumbnail image I can not find it and if I want to see what is in the folder some don't show in thumbnails. I think this happens when I transfer from my iPhone to iPhoto and I have deleted some pictures from my phone before the transfer. The deleted ones I see the thumbnail image of but they are not there when images are opened, and the pictures they override are not there when I try to find them in the thumbnails. I am only having this problem in two of the iPhoto folders that I have. I have a large iPhoto library.

Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - from the resulting first aid window rebuild thumbnails and if needed repair permissions and if necessary rebuild your database

Thumbnail images do not show on Elements 9

I have just installed Premiere Elements 9 after using Elements 7 for the last couple of years. I find that when I obtain jpeg images via "Add Media" the thumbnails load without the image showing but when I drag them onto the sceneline the image shows. Also I find like in the previous version were I would get a "system low on memory" message when I had a hundred images this version has come with this error and I have only 10 images and no video loaded.Hope someone has some ideas. Michael.

As I explain in my books, oversized photos (and photos from digital cameras can be 20-30 times that size!) can cause this kind of odd behavior and, more than almost any other media, can cause the program to overload.

Why does Bridge blow out thumbnails when adding new images?

Using Win 7 (64b) with CS6 and Bridge 5.0.2.4 x64 (CS6). I use Bridge in my workflow to catalog and tag images. I added 7000+ older photos in various file formats, Canon CR2, TIF, JPG, and PSD to my single directory containing all shots. As Bridge created thumbnails for all newly added shots, everything was looking good but then I noticed Bridge went back and lightened many of the thumbnails by ~ 1 EV. A few images were lightened by as much 2-3 EV and unusable (non-identifiable images).
When launching the non-identifiable image in Photoshop CS6 from bridge, tonal values and exposure are just fine. The images can be edited and saved. Tried solving by deleting image from directory. then restoring it (with different filename) before restarting Bridge. In one case, it worked. The newly renamed and regenerated thumbnail was fine. In other cases, no matter what I do, the image blows out.
This is quite frustrating. Thumbnails just plain look bad. Don't have a lot more hair to pull.

Hmmm. That's not very convenient and it doesn't prevent my mistake. At the cost of a lot more typing, it can prevent other scripts from accidentally referencing or colliding with your variable names, but it doesn't prevent you from accidentally colliding with other people's variables if you leave off the object qualifier when you are typing.
When I saw a reference to namespaces in something I was reading, It thought it was more like real namespaces (e.g. C++ namespaces) where you define a scope where all declared or referenced variables are automatically in that namespace unless they are explicitly referenced/declared otherwise. Does JavaScript not have that capability?
It would be more like this:

var i = 3;
// lots of other code here
With a real namespace, "i" wouldn't be a global variable. It's real name/declaration would be MyProgram.i or MyProgram::i depending upon the syntax.
Does JavaScript not have real namespaces?
I get that I can explicitly declare everything to a scope of MyProgram to simulate some benefits of namespaces, but that's a lot of extra typing and, presumably a bunch of extra work for the interpreter since there's at least one extra dictionary lookup for every variable or function reference.

A few image files disappeared: can't be re-imported from backup

There are at least a 4 dozen pictures imported into LR 5.x last September that now cannot be searched and which are not in the dated folder where they should be - even if searched in Windows Explorer. It's part of an event, and it appears to be all those on one card from one body. I remember seeing these images in the Library module at the time. No Previews with question marks.
If I go to the duplicated import created that day I find the "missing" images in the folder created at that time. Yea Adobe for creating the easy back-up for importing. In this backup folder the images can be searched and opened in either Windows Explorer or a viewer like FastStone. . If I put the files into the date-organized database folder (to "Synchronize" in the main directory) LR says it cannot import them as they are already part of the database. I tried copying these files in Explorer to a different hard drive and tried importing again: no help.
How can I convince LR that these need to be re-imported? More importantly, can anyone offer a scenario by which these image files disappeared from the disk and didn't leave a preview with a question mark? I didn't actually do any work (Dev module) that I remember on these. I certainly can go through with Bridge and batch rename this little set and present them again as an import request. But what causes something to drop out of the DB and disappear as a file? Obviously some kind of operator error is the most likely, I understand.
Deleting all Previews? Seems like that would make the machine work for hours to redo Previews for 90,000 pix.

Thanks for the suggestions (and warnings). I am pretty experienced with Lightroom and know the structure behind it. What was weird here was that when I try to bring one of the images back in through Synch or Import, says "It's already part of the database" BUT when searching for the image by file name LR finds others that share the same file number (not strange) but NOT the image I want (strange). This search was performed at the root of the file/folder structure, so should be looking into every folder in the database. An Explorer search shows that the image is no longer in the database folders. It is only found in the "Backup" folders created by LR when ingesting the card at the original import.
OK, so use the OS to move some of the files (12) back "inside" the folder, click Synch folder and it tells me there are 12 new photos. So far so good. BUT -- although they are now "there" in the folder and re-imported they still do not show up in the Library thumbnail view and can't be searched in Lightroom (by file name). The 12 didn't show up on a import screen with one lone PS image in that batch that was newly created this afternoon and DID show as a new import. I expected to see the 12 on that screen.
To answer one question offered today: No, the images do not show in the Develop module.
So something tells Lightroom these are not new and that they are aready there. However, not searchable.
Next step changing the names of the offending file, like appending a letter. See if that makes them look "new".
I think I can fix this as long as I have to original CR2 files unprocessed, which thankfully, I do. Anyone have a theory about what causes this? Never had it happen.

Nautilus not previewing all images/videos

Hey, well when using Nautilus and I browse to my images folder it only gives thumbnails for a few pictures. They are all jpegs and there is nothing strange about the ones it doesn't display. It is only giving thumbnails for about 3% of the images.
Also I think totem is buggered? As its not comming up and also video preview thumbnails have dissapeared.

totem is death atm, i still didn't find a proper solution to it.

Background Image Centering and Display issues in Internet Explorer--affecting home page only??

Hi--my web site is www.vergent.net, and for some reason, the background image will not center in Internet Explorer, but I'm having this issue only on the home page. (And only in IE. I am looking at it on IE 9). I've tried a number of workarounds, and nothing is working. Strangely, the same Master applied to other pages looks fine.
Please help!
A few more details:
The background image is placed into the Master page via the "browser fill" method. I tried a workaround where I just paste the background image directly onto the page and then placed content over that. However, IE doesn't seem to read the z-index information correctly. The result is that the background image winds up on top of all the content in IE using this method.
Any help will be most appreciated.

PS, I have temporarily resolved this problem by uncentering the content and just pinning everything flush to the left.
