KM4AM-V No Video, No Beep

I just recently bought new an MSI KM4AM-V Motherboard from CompUSA.
I then installed it in a system that I had been prepping for a new motherboard and some memory.
Power Supply - ATX 400 Watt
Memory - PC2700 One stick of 256 mb
CPU - 1.2 ghz Athlon
HD - 80 GB Maxtor
CD Drive - (does it matter?)
I have tried disconnecting HD and CD to see if its power, I have tried resetting CMOS, and changing my FSB jumpers. I have tried Removing the battery, waiting, and reinserting it, and I have tried using an ATI video card to test the video. The Fan is plugged in correctly as well.
Every time, the result is the same, system springs to life, fans spin, but there is no signal on the monitor, and I hear no beeping noise. There might be a bios, I dont know, all I know is that my monitor tells me that the motherboard is sending NO signal.
I am really pissed that I might have spent 100$ on a new motherboard that does not function, and I would like any suggestions at all on what I might have missed.
Oh, and I tried two diff monitors to test the signal, and the CPU does work, and the Graphics card works too. Neither the AGP Card, nor the onboard VGA display anything.
Thanks for your help
Cheers
-Bob

Praise be to both of you! It was as simple as that!
I was pretty sure that my error was something simple, and luckilly it was! I plugged in the other connector and my computer sprang to life as if painted on the ceiling of the sistine chapel touching the outstretched fingers of its creator.
Cheers to both of you for such a speedy and accurate response!
Thanks a million!

  • HP PRO 3400 Series desktop won't boot CPU fan starts and stops , no video, no beeps

I have the above computer with an i3-2125 CPU, Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, and a 300GB Seagate Hard drive.  I've had it for about 2 years and been working fine. It started acting up about 2 months ago.  It would lose the date and time.  I checked the battery, and it was OK, so I kept using the computer.  Then on 9/15/2014 it hung on "Starting Windows", I did the following:
    1.  Ran the built in HP diagnostic on hard drive and memory and they both passed.
    2.  Tried to go to last known good configuration and nothing happened.
    3.  Noticed the date and time were off, replaced the battery, nothing changed.
    4.  Tried another hard drive from another HP PRO 3400 Series and it would boot up but could not set date in bios.
    5.  Tried all kinds of things but could not set date in bios.
          a.  Bios date read 48/00/0048 after removing and replacing battery.
b,  Tried to reset date to 9/16/2914 and it gets 56/00/0051
    6.  Then it wouldn't boot at all.   So now when you turn on the power, the CPU fan starts and runs for about 1 second, then shuts off for 4 seconds, then starts and runs for another 1 sec and it does this continuously.  There is  no video and no beeps and no difference when all memory is removed.
    7.  I removed the power supply, and checked voltages.  It appears to be OK.
    8.  I removed the motherboard, and inspected it- saw nothing obvious.
    9.  I connected the power supply to the motherboard with nothing else connected to the motherboard, and I get the same thing.  CPU fan starts then stops continuously, no video no beeps.
    10.  I am thinking it is the Motherboard, but I sure could use some suggestions as to what to do next.
    Thanks

  • My power button is flashing (white) and I have no video, no beep, just rapid flashing

The power button on my mac pro is flashing (white) and I have no video, no beep, just rapid flashing.

"Almost all flashing power button at startup problems are caused by RAM issues."
Wow, how a simple search here saved me a lot of time, THNX!!
One of my 8 Transcend 2GB 800 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM RAM modules caused this fault. Strangely no red led on any of the 2 RAM trays, so I had to trial-and-error all modules on each of the two RAM trays to find out wich module broke on me.

  • Print-To-Video audio beeps

I'm printing a sequence to tape and all is going fine until, at one spot, I hear a few seconds of audio beeps. It's similiar to when audio tracks aren't rendered.
I went back to my sequence, but there's nothing there to be rendered. I play through the sequence and there're no audio beeps.
Any idea why this would occur when I do a print-to-video?
    Thanks.

How many audio playback real-time tracks are set in User Preferences, and how many tracks are there at that point in the sequence?
Try adding a couple or four tracks in User Preferecnes and see if that squares it away.

  • MSI 990fxa-6d65v2 No Post, No Video, No Beeps, and verified everything DOES work

Well basically i will start with this i bought this for my brother as a Christmas gift and it still isn't working 2 god damn months later. I was reading this post (http://) forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=165453.0
and it sounded very similar to my problem except about 1000000000000000000 times less complicated due to everything i have tried since this has been an ongoing problem, and i basically just gave my brother a crushed dream for Christmas i would like to get it fixed. Plus his B-day just passed yesterday and all i had to give him for that was disappointment, words cant begin to describe the anger, frustration, depression, and sadness this has caused me. And to eliminate well pretty much EVERY question you could have, because i am 99.9999999% sure i have tried every single possibility, i will refer you to the other forum i have it posted in ( i just think you guys can help me more). Since the bios did jack , i think it might be what someone was saying like the vbios or something anyways here it is, in all its glory (make sure your sitting for all this)
    PLEASE READ THROUGH IT THOROUGHLY...

    GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG GG
    IT WORKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i don't care how gay this makes me sound i could seriously make love to you right now dude. I haven't been this elated in a very very very very very very very very very long time. I JUST CANT BELIEVE SOMETHING FINALLY WORKED !!!!!!!
    Please understand my excitement:
i spent almost $1500 on this build
i'm in college so i dont really have a lot of spare money
i got it for my brother for christmas
i bought parts i KNEW were compatible yet all i gave him was disappointment
i tried LITERALLY every single suggestion i could find ANYWHERE online
despite what i tried (even though it worked for others) nothing could fix it
i tested each and EVERY hardware component individually and verified they worked
even though the CPU, GPU, MOBO, RAM, HDD all tested fine when put together... nothing
Two months roll by and my brothers god damn Birthday arrives and the only gift i have for him is broken hopes
I (only for a slight second) thought that the psu might actually be the problem
So i even (mainly to satisfy the idiotically overwhelming amount of ppl who claimed it was this) bought another brand new PSU, since almost everyone was SOOOOO sure that the problem was the PSU....
after spending another $120 on a really nice PSU it turned out that, gosh it wasn't the PSU
After calling MSI and explaining this all to them, they said "Wow, that a lot of stuff, it sounds like the only thing left to try would be to update the bios, because from what you have told me, it sounds like you have eliminated everything else."
So i download the newest bios AVAILABLE ON THEIR SITE, and update it, and then in a turn of
events not shocking in anyway at all and totally expected, it did jack .
Even though MSI claimed that they actually "tested" the 7950 on that board and it worked, they even said that
it should work right out of the box..... oh really is that so.........
Throughout the entire time (and i do mean EVERYDAY) since pretty much christmas i have been on the internet trying to find answers or ppl who have had similar problems. I took what gigabyte said into deep consideration
"How could they have added support for that card, if the GPU was  manufactured at a latter date than that of the
    motherboard."
Well i figured that the latest bios, being that it was the only one they offered on their website would fix that....
After the suggestion of the beta bios by "flobelix" i had about a 99.9% assurance that it wouldnt work, i mean after everything this what reason was there to have any hope. I was going to (if it didn't work) call MSI and tell them i am sending back the gd65 and i want to exchange it for the gd80, because regardless of what they say about the card and its compatibility, OBVIOUSLY there is some sort of problem.
HOWEVER, IT DID WORK AND I AM FREAKING OUT WITH JUST OVERWHELMING JOY!!
it feels really good more than anything to do this for my brother
With all that, i think it is bullshit that i had to use a beta bios, to put it more bluntly an experimental bios to get the card to work. Clearly the 7950 worked on MSI mobo when they tested it because it prolly had the latest beta bios....
How the hell are all the people that buy the board suppose to get the beta bios, i mean you dont have it on your website, is everyone that buys a new GPU suppose to just go through two agonizing months of frustration and depression before they get an answer?
MSI needs to address this issue asap, at the very least they need to offer the beta bios on their website. I have been buying from MSI for almost 10 years and i have always been happy but this situation really pissed me off. I am not going to stop buying from them because i think they are a really good company but, they need to stay on top of  like this A LOT better.
Therefore to conclude this all, i am extremely happy to have this finally resolved, i cannot thank you guys enough i really cant.

  • T30 No video no beeps?

Hello. My T30 was working fine, until one day I heard a weird grinding noise and video flicker. I shut it off, and pulled everything apart. I turned it on, the lights on the keyboard come up, except for the processer light, but I can hear it working. However, no video shows up on the LCD. The fan continues to work, until I shut it off. I have to hold down the power button a little bit for it to start up. There are no beeps/error codes when it boots. Can I fix this myself?

X41T: Dead from a power surge during a BIOS Flash!

As you've had it apart, I'd check all the connections again. I have the feeling your worst fears may be warranted.

with the 3 beeps the motherboard is telling you the problem is the Memory sticks. i have a trick using a white soft eraser (white means no colorants in build), pass it on the golden contacts carefully like erasing a text, and ONLY by the memory´s golden conductives contacts. then install only 1 memory and try it
in a few cases and depending where u live, some corrosive film is created over those contacts and in the Memory´s rail of the motherboard. if that solve the problem i suggest contact an technician to clean deeply the motherboard memory´s rail.

  • No video, no beeps, no post, OC LEDs on but I never pushed the button.

Hi all, hoping I can get some input here.  This is a system that was running fine earlier today.  It has infrequently been randomly resetting with no warning (Windows 7 logs a Kernal-Power event with no bugcode), and once even hard-locked to the point that even holding the power button for 4 seconds did not reset the computer--but it came back after I manually switched the PSU toggle off and back on and powered it on again.
It looked like it was going to be the same thing this time, but after toggling the switch and pressing the power button, I get all fans and MB lights (including the OC dial red LED and the blue LED next to it that are usually NOT on), but no beeps and no video (monitor remains in orange light standby state), and so far as I can tell does not post.  Any idea what this could mean, or how I can test it?  This system build is new, but the PSU is old so I'm thinking that will be my first avenue of attack.  Can't visit Fry's until morning, though...
Edit: apparently on some (all?) models there are 4 LEDs near the CPU that are supposed to give me additional info, and I think I see where they're supposed to be, but it looks like only 1 is on and none of the codes listed in the FAQ have only 1 light lit :-/

It won't Post, so I can't run Memtest.  As of a couple days ago, it was running 8+ hours error free, though I know components can fail instantaneously.  Also on this most recent occasion I did turn restart on reset off, but was away from my computer when it happened and when I returned the monitor was in orange standby mode and would not exit it, also Mouse and Keyboard (both USB) had no lights on despite being set to never power down via selective suspend.  Therefore no (visible) blue screen and my having to hard reset via the toggle like I described in the first post.
Tried clearing CMOS, behaves the same.

  • P7N-SLI-FI - No Video, No Beep...

    Hello,
I need some assistance.  I haven't built a computer in years (about 7 years to be exact), so bear with me.
    Here is my system specifications:
    Intel Core 2 Duo E7300 Wolfdale 2.66GHz LGA 775
    MSI P7N SLI-FI LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 750i
    CORSAIR 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit
    EVGA 512-P3-N980-AR GeForce 9800 GT Hybrid Power 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16
COOLER MASTER Real Power Pro RS-650-ACAA-A1 650W ATX Form Factor 12V V2.3 / SSI Standard EPS 12V V2.91 SLI
Western Digital Caviar SE WD2500AAJS 250GB 7200 RPM SATA
As stated, I haven't built a PC in a while, but I am pretty sure that I have done so correctly.  When I power on, the fans spin, the lights come on, but there is no video and/or beep codes.  I have tried uninstalling the memory chips, and placing them in different DIMM slots to no avail.  Also, there are some LEDs on the mobo (directly behind the IDE connectors) - and with the PSU plugged, there is one red LED.  When I power on, there is a RED and a BLUE LED lit.  Don't know if that helps.
I do not have the D-Bracket, unfortunately.  And I am pressed for time, as I am building this for a 3rd party.
    Any advice would be appreciated.

    No, Options:
    1. Install supported CPU and update the BIOS
    2. Send mainboard back to reseller to update BIOS for you.
    3. Try this way to update the BIOS ==> http://www.msicomputer.com/support/BIOS_AMI_Recovery.asp
Option 1 is not an option, I do not have another 775 cpu on hand.
Option 2 is acceptable.  And is probably what I will be doing.
Option 3 - possibly works, but I can't get that page to load...
BOSSKILLER: Thank you very much for helping me out!  You've been very friendly and wise, and I appreciate your time!

  • 848P NEO-S - No POST, No Video, No Beep

    I have a 848P NEO-S motherboard with a 2.8Ghz P4 installed.
The system had been working fine for over a year until it mysteriously powered down.  Since then I have tried booting it back up with no success.  When I had both the main ATX & P4 ATX connected to the motherboard it would not power up at all.  With the P4 ATX plug disconnected the system will power up, but still there is no video, bleeping or POST, the only evidence of the system having any power to it is that the CPU and case fan come on.
I have tried testing the system with all the drives removed and just the RAM, CPU and video card.  I have also tried with just one RAM module inserted and have also cleared the CMOS. I have tried testing with a brand new PSU and have reseated the CPU and also checked it for any physical damage but all of this was unsuccessful.
On the D-Bracket it hangs on the testing base and extended memory lights.  This is also the only combination it performs.
Any feedback would be greatly appriecated.

  • KT3 dual video no boot

For no good reason I spent some time this morning trying to get a second monitor working on my main development system. I have a perfectly good Matrox Millenium PCI card, with the VGA disabled, that ought to work fine as the secondary display in a system with an AGP primary display. But, in fact, as soon as I put in the secondary card, the boot sequence hangs right after displaying the list of devices in the box. This is before Win2K even gets started, so it's got to be a hardware issue of some sort. I had thought maybe it depended on whether the card was on the primary or secondary PCI bus, but I tried both, and messed around with BIOS settings, to no avail.
Note that this isn't the "no video, just beeps" issue - the primary (AGP) card does initialize and show the boot sequence output, it just goes off into never-never land.
    Some system specifics:
Windows 2000 Advanced Server SP3 (not that I think the OS is involved)
    Motherboard KT3 Ultra2  MS-6380
    AMIBIOS

Any ideas? I'd love to get this configuration running...otherwise I guess my next step is to yank the AGP video and put in two PCI cards instead.

  • Quicktime closes when trying to change video settings

I just bought PRO and now i cant even use it. I open my avi file, go to export and when i go into options and i click on SETTINGS for video quicktime beeps and closes... no warning message no error NOTHING. i can get into the audio settings just not the video. And its bothering me that theres no official support COME ON APPLE i just gave you money at least give me a telephone number come on.

I have the same problem - I have a MP4 movie file that's using the H264 codec that I need to play via a PowerPoint presentation - so I need to convert it to something more Windows friendly. I wanted to export the mp4 as a AVI using one of the lossless codecs I have which I would then convert to a WMV file using Windows Media Encoder. The minute I tried to change any video settings on the export feature on QT Pro QT Pro crashed. Of course looking around the QT page for any support information is pointless (because it's not there) - and I purchased Pro with QT 7.2 and can't revert to another version.
And looking around the +QT for Mac OS+ forum this is not just a Windows problem - it's a QT Pro 7.2 problem. I thought Apple applications were flawless and didn't crash??? +<insert sarcasm>+ Anyway...it would be nice to have something that works for my $30 rather than a overpriced video player.

  • CS3 transcodes but truncates video, audio ok

After reading other posts I'm about to give up on Encore.   I have one large 16g DV avi file.  Transcodes too quickly!  Why?  Because it stops doing the video after a few minutes.  The result is a small piece of video and full size audio, i.e. the video section is truncated (as shown in the timeline window.)
I have reimported, made a new timeline with a different name, etc
Are there some temp files I should delete?  Or cached stuff?
    Any ideas?

The above suggestions are good and valid, especially if you allow En to do "auto" mode.  Originally I used most of the methods that have been suggested.   Some failed when I did both NTSC and PAL versions of the same content..  Some failed when I went from 1.5 to CS3.   Others carried the burden of hard disk space, confusion, or time impact.
For example you can't make a template-like project that is able to switch from NTSC to PAL.  You can make two project-templates but when transferring from the NTSC project to the PAL project most of the NTSC work and debugging are lost -- you have to manually make screen images and reenter the data and debug from scratch -- it is easy to overlook an end action or mistype a chapter time.
When you Save-As, all the huge files go to the new location which you may later replace or delete.   Template files on other programs I've used record the "style" or "template" or "design" or "structure."  Or they copy all but the assets. (And why does En make gigabyte sized "conformed" 32 bit audio files?)
A well planned out partial project, i.e. up to the new stuff, is a good idea but isn't so good for creatively evolving or customizing the project.  En won't allow me to change the dafault "quick" play order of assets after they have been imported/timelined.  So I lose that part of the structure.
Saved Menus in the Library don't save a custom button navigation or which kind of color activate-select to use, or which "end actions", etc.  A "true" template might save even the menu to menu navigation -- something I use a project-template to do.   As I said, I can't use my old 1.5 project-templates now in CS3 due to a bug.
The joke is that I started with Nero's "free" DVD authoring which at the time gave me a lot of control and simplicity too.  I expected "professional" En would give me much more automation, control, flexibility, creativity -- like the ad says.
As a programmer I know how (relatively) easy it is to export and import.  If most items in En were exportable and importable (like chapter lists, end actions, override, etc etc, button nav, etc.) then I would have few complaints.
Then I could set my own encode bit rates,  place the assets in quick access order, have custom button navigation,  custom colors for activate-select, and do both NTSC and PAL.
Thanks to everyone for all the suggestions and points of view.   Until writing all this down I never knew what my various complaints were!  And I still don't know why En truncated my video without beeping or explaining!

  • Lost onboard video,MSI6315 , 815EMpro,

    Hi,
Board was running ok yesterday,boot-up this morning,no video, long beeps comming from onboard.

Processor temps are fine, so I conclude both processor and (at least some of the) RAM are fine.
You get image on occassions so graphics card should be alright, and there is no alarm for when graphics card is corrupt.*
OmniPSUs haven't got the best of reputations, but I can't say that is the reason. If you have another to borrow for a while do so.
The F1 thing and then OK is a bit strange. Can BIOS go back to the last working order? Maybe it can't use processor at full speed. Does BIOS recognise the full amount of RAM? When clearing CMOS you must remove the power cable and wait a while.
"Repair files-Windows Boot Files" from a CD? Could you say some more on this, please.
    * The g. card does not have onboard memory, I suppose.

Thanks in advance for any help you may provide.  I've read many posts about this board, and I've found no comfort.
This is a new build for a friend.  Everything is new (please see sig, and let me know what other information I can provide).  The system simply refuses to POST (no beep, no information on the monitor).  I've lost the bleeps, the sweeps, and the creeps!
I have the bare essentials on my table for now.  The motherboard is on cardboard, with the CPU+heatsink, video card, and one stick of RAM installed.  The PC speaker is connected, and I'm powering on by jumping the terminals on JFP1 with a phillips head screwdriver (much easier to use than a flat head, if you don't mind my making that recommendation; rest the first pin in one of the notches on the head, and slide the driver down to make contact with the second pin).  When I tried a switch, the system would not power down.  Let me ask something.  I've read conflicting opinions about the fewest components needed to have the system successfully POST.  Assuming you connect the PC speaker, some say PSU, mobo, and CPU are all you need, others +RAM, and still others +video.  Can anybody clear this up?  Nonetheless, I've tried it all those ways.
I've tried it with no video card, with video card (with the two respective 6-pin PCI-e connectors), two monitors; I've swapped the RAM sticks in the kit; I've tried it with the 8-pin 12V mobo connector, the 4-pin 12V connector, without them...and I get nothing.  The digital monitor will come out of its powered off state when I turn things on, but has no other response.  The CRT monitor doesn't bother waking up.
The only thing left to try is to re-seat the CPU.  I've been putting it off because of the hassle of removing the heatsink and playing with grease, but I suppose the hours I've spent trying to find the culprit in other places isn't any less of a hassle.  Everything else has been re-seated so many times that my wife keeps asking to use the video card to peel carrots.  As long as the carrots aren't conductive, I told her.
What else have I tried... I'm sure more will come to me if you guys have any questions.  Oh, I've also tested the PSU with my nifty Antec PSU tester.  Everything is within tolerance (24-pin, 8-pin, 2x 6-pin, and 4-pin connectors).  The four power-phase LEDs on the mobo illuminate immediately upon start, but from what I read, that's normal.  The OC_GEAR1 switch, however, its corresponding dial, and a nearby LED are illuminated, without my having attempted to turn them on.  I have attempted to turn them off, though, by pressing the switch, but have been unsuccessful.
What also doesn't seem normal is the three LEDs' illuminating on the video card.  The LEDs are D1601, 2, and 3.  From the information I could find about this video card, the problem still might be something else, such as my zipcode, or the color of my hair.
edit/ These three LEDs' being illuminated on the video card is part of the card's POST, so they are normal at boot.  They still do not turn off, however. /edit
I don't have access to any other components or computers.  I'd swap things around for sure if I could.
Like I said, thanks in advance for any help you may provide, and thanks for reading all this.
    *UPDATE*
I re-seated the CPU.  Still no video, no beep.

Thanks Henry for your reply, and I hope everybody will forgive my stubbornness.  I won't be able to sleep, though, until I ask, which CPUs were supported with BIOS version H1?  No CPU in the table shows a revision other than H4 and H7, but surely the Athlon II (AD170UEAK13GM), for example, or at least some of these CPUs on the list, were compatible with the motherboard when it was released, wouldn't you think?  Otherwise, when the board was released earlier this year, there was no point in buying one until 17 May, when BIOS revision H4 was released.
    *UPDATE*
I contacted MSI, and they first said that H4 was necessary.  I asked then which CPUs were compatible with H3, but they said H3 didn't exist (such as the MS-7599VER:3.1 on my board?).  So I asked which CPUs were compatible with H1.  This produced the longest delay in their response, but they finally came back and said the 555 BE was compatible even with H1.  To clarify, I said that I was wanting to use a board with MS-7599 ver:3.1, and they said it would work.
I think the table is misleading, and it's being viewed as a minimum.  There are some minimums, indeed, but they have to be found in the changelogs (such as X6s needing rev.H4, but not all, because I've read of people's using X6s before H4 was even released).  Otherwise, the table seems to be saying that if you already have H4 with the 555 BE, there's no point in updating to H7, because there were no changes in the BIOS related to that CPU.  It appears an additional column would be helpful in the table, showing minimum BIOS necessary.
