KM4M-L Combo Post Failure

the problem is kinda odd. The PC powers up the fans spin, and during the self test it detects the CPU fine. and goes on to the ram, at this point it stops. then after a sec or two I get a "+" symbol in there. I have shut it down, turned off the switch on the PSU, then unplugged the cable, left it for a few minutes and the same thing happend just a + in there for memory test. I have swapped out the 2 sticks of PC133 that was in there with it and replaced it with a new stick of PC133 and same error. tried PC2100 DDR and same error. cleared the CMOS jumper = same error. no beep errors either. I have left it for an hour or so just to see if it would go past it on its own = nope. the system specs are listed below:
Raidmax 208 10=bay case
MSI KM4M-L Combo
Athlon 1800+
2 x 128 PC133 (swapped to a few different sticks)
IBM Deskstar 60GB
MSI 52x32x52 Burner
1.44 Mitsumi Floppy
onboard video, sound, lan
USR 56k performance pro
PSu 3.3v-16A, 5v-25A, 12v-16A 350 Watt Raidmax
I realize that the PSU isnt' the best however I tested it in a spare 1.6GHz P4 with 2HDD, and 2 Optical drives, video card, sound card, 2 x 10/100 nic, and 56k modem and it ran through SuperPi 8MB test fine. even though I was underpowering the system pretty bad. The demands on the AMD system can't be that great as it is only an email machine and the rare Excel work that it does.
thanx for any input

The system was working perfectly for almost a year. There weren't any bios flashes before or any configuration changes before the problems started. the odd thing was I now have 2 of these systems doing the same thing. the only difference between the 2 systems it the CPU the first system is a 1800+ and the 2nd is a 2400+ both are 266 FSB and both have been running for about the same time almost a year with no changes. I had the power cord unplugged for a few minutes before clearing the CMOS on SYSTEM 1. then put the jumper back. I have tested it with PC100, PC133, DDR1600, DDR2100, and DDR2700, in both 128 and 256 MB sticks all do the same thing + in the Bios for the memory test. I can't believe that it is a power issue. as both boards miraculously started to do the same thing within 1 week of each other System 1 has always has 2x128 PC133 and System 2 has always had 1x512 DDR2100. both have the same model P.S.u same Mobo, same everything actually except for the CPU. and they were Office computers for a local Prudential office. So they were well protected by a very secure network, which kinda rules out boot sector virus. I am stumped.

Both are running WIN 2K SP3

  • 915P Combo POST problems

    Hi All,
First i would like to say great site and wonderful info provided. my problem has to do with starting up the computer. When turned on the computer doesn't POST and I have to press the reset few times to get to POST. here is how it goes: When turned on "CPU fan makes throaty sound 'too much for just starting up'". then the mouse + keyboard light check, either lights up indicating a POST in progress or they don't during all of that the monitor is still not POSTING.
Out of 10 start ups 9 require pressing the reset button 5-10 times to get it to post. could anyone please give some feedback on this problem. Also if it is not too much does anybody know why a computer with a SATA master HD and a Third primary ATA133 HD won't let me add any more drive and will ask for RAID to be installed? having problems connecting my CDRW ROM with 2 HDs and a DVD drive installed i have to manually open the case and unplug the DVD drive and swap it with the CD writer if i want to burn something on CD. Thanks again for the help.

  • GR Posting failure

    Dear all,
I got a problem with GR. The scenario is procurement from PR, then created PO reference to PR, then do GR with PO, but posting is failure. The error message : <inadmissible movement type - acceptance at vendor set for PO item--Message No. M7429> came out at GR. The PR,PO is without material master data (with material group), so that is non-stock material, and we have to enter the cost center and G/L account when we create PR. I guess something happened in FI side to make posting unsuccessful. Thanks in advance.

The problem is fixed by someone, but the problem is the same mentioned by Dhinakaraj J. Thanks all. Dhinaharaj J, he should get reward from me.

In the PO in Delivery tab, the origin accept is checked, it means that the material as been accepted at the source. thats why if u use 103 Mov. type for GR, which is movement to Blocked stock, the system throws this error "Inadmissible movement type - Acceptance at vendor set for PO item".
Here once the material accepted at source (Origin accept indicator checked), the migo is done by using 107 mov. type (GR to valuated blocked stock). after receving the material at plant, the migo is done by using 109 mov. type (GR from valuated blocked stock)
    reward if helpful.

  • KM4M won't post HELP!

I have a KM4M-L board. This is actually the 2nd one that I've gotten, neither of them are able to POST.
The board is outside of the case right now, the only thing connected to it is the wire for the speaker, the big PS connector and the smaller 4 pin connector from the power supply. When I power the machine up I get one long beep, no video.
Right now there is a XP2000+ CPU in it, with a PC2700 Mushkin stick. I've swapped the memory to a PNY PC2700 stick, same thing. I swapped out the original power supply for a new Antec 300W unit, same thing. I don't have another CPU handy so I can't swap that.
What's the deal here? I bought the same setup a couple of weeks ago, had the same issue and sent it back. The new stuff (CPU, board, RAM) that they sent me is having the same exact issue.
FWIW, here's the info from the Power Supply:
    +5V: 30A
    +12V: 15A
    +3.3V: 20A
    -5V: 0.5A
    -12V: 0.5A
    +5V SB: 2.0A
Any and all help would be appreciated before I fling this thing across the backyard like a frisbee.

I have had 2 of these boards do this recently.  I have used dozens of them with no troubles.  Starting in Mid June I have had 2 of these boards act at least similarly to yours.  One of them worked for a week, then one day Windows crashed (like that's a shocker   ) and from then on when you powered it on, everything started except no POST at all, no beeps, no video, nothing.  The other one was DOA right from the vendor, one long beep, but no video.  If you pulled the memory, it would not beep at all, and it should have given 3 beeps signifying a memory problem.  First system was with an Athlon XP 2200+, second system was with an Athlon XP 2600+.  We even have a "testbed" with a A+GPB 500Watt ATX power supply, monitor, keyboard, video and momentary-on power-switch so we can test for case-problems.
Wondering if MSI got a batch of questionable capacitors from somewhere that's causing them problems.  I even "bridged" the power-on pins while the ATX connector was plugged in and neither would POST.  Still waiting for my first board to come back from MSI RMA, but a replacement board from the vendor for the second one worked right away.  Both motherboards were "date-coded" 0404 and the one working replacement was 0504 (or was that 0405).

  • K8N Neo2 Platinum POST failure

System has run great for more than a year. Now, system hangs in POST. No beeps. No display. D-Bracket lights 1 red, 2 green, 3 green 4 red (Processor init). Disconnected extraneous devices - no effect. Swapped video cards - no effect. Reseated CPU and memory - no effect.
System did boot once after failures started and ran fine for 3 days - had to restart Windows and boot problem started again and won't go away. The fact that everything ran fine after it managed to boot that one time makes me think the CPU & memory are OK. Now, system hangs in POST every time.
I don't know what to make of the D-Bracket lights which seem to indicate a CPU problem when CPU seemed to be working fine the one time it managed to boot in the midst of all the hangs.
Any ideas about what to try next. My thoughts point to a motherboard failure, but I hate to start randomly replacing parts.
I'd sure appreciate any help anyone might be able to offer.

OK, seems I did everything but clear CMOS settings and that corrected the problem. Many thanks!!
Now, for my own education, I've been dealing with these things for 25 years and I've never seen a CMOS setting change so it screwed up the system this way this way. Somehow, one or more of the settings apparently changed and had to be reset  via the CMOS clear. What would cause that to happen? Do I have some other problem waiting to happen?
    Thanks for the help.
    It can happen sometimes.
Could be caused by a crash, powerdip, or a peak in the ground current... Theoreticly a source of radiation (table fan, cell phone, DECT phone, etc..) could also cause bios settings to change spontiously.
In my case it's usually my 7 yr old nephew  , but has happened twice in 3 years without him around, and the board worked fine afterwards. So nothing to be worried about

  • Combo drive failure: Ejects all discs

While watching a very scratched DVD, the combo drive on my month-old Mac Mini began making very loud noises; after that the film skipped and froze. After a few minutes of disturbingly loud knocking and clicking noises, I turned the computer off by pressing the power button. After restart, I ejected the disc by moving it to the trash icon in the dock. Now the combo drive refuses to read any other disc that I put in: DVD, music, or data. It makes spinning sounds and then ejects them after about 10 seconds.
Everything else is still working fine. Is the combo drive dead or is there a fix I can attempt at home?
Thanks in advance for your help.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
It is possible that the drive has been damaged, in which case if it can't read the correct track of an inserted disk, it will automatically eject it. The fact the drive pulls the disk in and spins it up at all suggests the drive is otherwise functional, thus tending to indicate the lens is at fault.
You might first try a PMU/SMC reset (depending on whether yours is a PPC or Intel mini. This would be the first step if you were getting errors re failure to calibrate power when trying to write to a blank, and I would not have much confidence of it working in this situation since it seems unlikely to be a controller issue, but it's worth trying. Instructions are below - PMU if it's a PPC and SMC if it's an Intel.
If that doesn't help, try a lens cleaner. That has been known to help in these situations.
Ultimately, if the system is no longer under warranty, you would be better I think to get an external firewire drive than replace the internal. It would be much the same price and tend to give better performance!

  • AC/DC Combo adapter failure/short

I bought the thin AC/DC combo adapter with my ThinkPad, and at first it seemed to work, but it quickly became clear that it had a short that would cause it to intermittently fail. I've isolated it to the point the cable exits the brick.
I first noticed the problem about 8 months ago, but sat on it too long and inadvertantly let the one-year anniversary of my laptop purchase expire. The product was barely used, and it has failed to work as advertised, so I would hope Lenovo will offer to replace it, even if the warranty period has technically expired.
But I can't figure out how (other than through the forums) to contact someone at Lenovo to find out whether you will honor this.
    Help?
    Tim
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

As far as I've seen, you can't. The product is no longer in warrenty, and unless they modify the warentee (as they've sometimes done on faulty batteries) or issue a recall, there's not really much you can probably do. I've had nothing but problems with mine, and it is doing the same as yours just after the warentee period is up (I fried two of the DC plugs in the warentee period.) You're not the only one in the situation, but you probably will be stuck there until you buy a new one.

  • Access 2010 Combo Box Failure on Database Close

Problem: create a combo box with recordsource on table or query; Initially combo box "works" ; i.e when you begin to type values the combo box looks up the first matching value based on the recordsource.
HOWEVER: Once you close the database and reopen this functionality is completely LOST...the values are still in the recordsource, if you click the dropdown all the values are displayed; however when typing in values the combo box no longer gets the first
    or any matching record.
Thus the combox is all but useless unless there are very/very few records.
    Solutions I have tried:
    1. Creating a compleley new datbase (blank) ; a blank form with only a combobox.
    2. Importing my forms into a new blank database
    3. changing the recordsource settings from queries to tables to sql.
    4. running a /decomple on the database
Absolutely nothing I have done works and I have spend hours doing this.
I literally have no idea what is going on here.
Help ...this is a critical issue.
    jawsurgeon

    Hi Jawsurgeon,
According to the description, the AutoExpand feature provied by comboBox didn't work after you close the database.
Please first check the AutoExpand property is true. And here is a sample database, you can download it from link below:
    ComboBoxAutoExpand
Also please check whether the KB below is helpful:
The AutoExpand property may not work when ANSI-92 syntax is enabled and the Combo Box RowSource does not use DISTINCT values
If it still didn't work, I suggest that you repair the Access to see whether the issue was fxied.

  • 845GLM/cele 2.4 - POST failure No Beeps

    Hello Guys,
    here is the run down
This is a completely new computer for my sister. All parts were purchased new.
    845GLM Motherboard
    2.4 Cele
    Generic 2700 DDR 512 mb
Generic case w/ 400 watt ps
Everything went together well, no issues.
The box will not post, It will not give me a single beep w/ just the ram and CPU in. it has onboard nic and video as you know, so I cant remove those.
If I pull the ram I can get it to give me a continuous "long beep, pause, long beep, pause, long beep" and so on until I power it off.
Any ideas? Everything looks ok but I just wanted to get a second opinion. I have never liked the "no beeps" so I just thought i'd post here for some info.
    Thanks,
    Scott

    Thanks for the reply Assaf,
I did have a spare chip that I tested with as well, I forgot the mention that. I did test with a 512 of Mushkin enhanced 2100 DDR as well. I get the same results with this memory.
I have also pulled off the heat sync and reseated the cpu and that did not inprove the situation.
    Any ideas anyone?

  • K9N6PGM-F Post failure no vidio out on post no evidence of post

    Components are as follows:
MSI K9N6PGM-F Socket AM2 NVIDIA GeForce 6100 Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
    AMD Athlon 64 X2 3600+ Brisbane 1.9GHz Socket AM2 Processor Model ADO3600DDBOX
    Kingston 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) ECC Registered Dual Channel Kit Server Memory Model KVR667D2S4P5K2/2G
    400 Watt pawer supply
I'm just starting to put the system together, I connected the power supply, the power sw, reset switch and speaker switch and VGA out on MB to monitor, both memory modules are installed, no HD attached, CPU and CPU Fan installed.
    My problem is as follows:
When I power on the cpu fan comes on , but the Monitor/vga out detects no signal from the mother board.  The board will shut off if I give it the 8 second power switch depress.  The monitor is good and the cable to the MB because I tested both on my laptop's VGA out port.
Also of note: I hear no "beep" from the speaker during power up.
    I tried the following:
    1) I bought 2 old PCI vidio cards, alternated between them and the MB, no output on the 6yo PCI cards for post.
    2) I bought an identical MB (same part number), and the identical problem cropped up.
Did not matter if I resent BIOS options, did not matter if board was bare (with out any PCI pluggeg in) with VGA out on MB or PCIVID plugged in with VGA ccable plugged to PCI card.
Both respond to power switch on/off commands.
I read as related posts, seemed the only similar problem had to do with the memory that might cause this, I guess my next step is to buy a cheap memory module that is compatable and try that.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
I'm running a basic power-up test that I run before I connect more components, but right now it's not passing this basic test, and since I have the same problem with an identical MB, the problem is following the motherboard as a bios or compatability issue, not a defective board problem.

  • P35 Neo2 POST failure

    Hi
Have just built a brand new system consisting of MSI P35 Neo2, Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550, XFX 9800GT, Corsair XMS2 DDR2 800, Seagate HD, Samsung optical drive.  All items obtained from one (internet) supplier.
Problem is: PC powers up but won't pass POSTs.
According to LEDs on mobo it gets to POST step 10 (testing base & extended memory) but stops there. i.e. it wont get to step 11 (assign resources to all ISA).
    Monitor displays initial MSI graphics.
    Can't enter BIOS setup.
Pressing TAB or DEL during initial MSI screen does allow display of BIOS version (1.8) & 2048MB OK, but nothing more.
Mobo was returned to supplier who apparently cleared CMOS, tested, found no fault and returned.
After re-building, exactly same problem was observed.  I've cleared CMOS again by removing battery but no improvement.
Mobo advertised to be compatible with my processor, but is it?
Certain forum threads hint that maybe I need to upgrade BIOS for use with 45nm processor, but as a beginner I'm not sure how one upgrades the BIOS with a PC that won't even boot to BIOS setup.
Been sitting for weeks with an exciting looking system which won't even boot!
Any help will be very gratefully received.

there is nothing wrong with mobo or bios, you have bought an overclocked memory default voltage 2volt.
power pc press delete and hold it  till you get into bios then go into cell menu section. in there you have to set the cpu and memory setting from auto to manual and change the memory voltage from 1.8 to 1.9 or 2 volt save and exit .
post a reply then we can guide for the rest (first step is to boot the pc for the window to load)
use only one memory stick in slot 1 (closest to cpu)  first. then we add other memories.
    it is compatible but overclocked.

  • POST failure D-Link DWL-520+ Wireless

Problem after adding D-link DWL-520+ wireless card.  MSI 6195 Slot A BIOS A6195KMS V1.3, AThlon, WIN98SE with latest updates.
Fails in post 0101 VGA.  But is not entirely consistent.
Removed all cards except ATI RAGE II problem persists but can boot 10% of time.
Removed DWL-520+ and booted to alter memory range of ATI card.  Can now boot reliably and have wireless card working.  However system remains a little unstable with random lookouts.
    Second DWL-520+ gives same symptoms.
    Any suggestions please?

In fact D-link came up with the later driver (which incidently is freely available at http://www.dlink.com.tw).  So I made just one more attempt.
In between times I also tried this card in an ABit machine and it liked it even less!
So on about the 17th boot of the MSI6195 Win98 loaded and then after a while it locked up.  This process corrupted the Windows registry so badly that SCANREG was unable to recover the situation.
I am therefore returning my D-link 22Mbps PCI card and have instead deployed a Linksys USB adapter.  This interworks quite well with the remaining D-link PCMIA card and router.  Obviously this will be at 11Mbps instead of the planned 22Mpbs.  But that seems to be the price of reliability!
I can recommend the Linksys USB unit.  It's compact, USB powered and has one little wrinkle if anyone is interested.
    Thanks for your help.

  • How to fix data post failure of IBY_FD_RECORD_PRINT_STATUS

Multiple (17) instances of IBY_FD_RECORD_PRINT_STATUS concurrent program were waiting on "latch: cache buffers chains" for the same Sql Hash Value of 1286279379. We expected the 17 instances to finish within an hour. This concurrent program was terminated through the GUI after 12 hours .
This is the last program that is run before our process extracts data for OFS db for use in other processes. I believe that the program updates ap.ap_invoices_all (payment_status_flag = "Y") and ap.ap_paymens_schedule_all (payment_status_flag="Y") and removes rows from ap.ap_selected_invoices_all table.
Now we want to manually "fix" the data.
We believe that updating the two tables listed above and removing the invoices from the ap.ap_selecte_invoices_all table will put the data into the status that will allow new data to be loaded.
We need to know if this process is correct. Please advise.

So can I just buy a new hard drive to fix it? If so that isn't a problem
