KMS license activation issues client systems within child domains
KMS Server Setup:
OS: W2K12 R2
KMS ver: 2012
Multiple child domains including a single domain in which the KMS server resides. All client systems and servers are scattered across the child domains throughout the enterprise.
The new KMS server, running OS 2012 R2 and KMS 2012, sits within a separate domain. All systems will eventually get migrated to this domain. I have two (2) KMS servers I plan on using to accommodate the pending activations. From reading I think you're allowed
to have a totla of six (6) KMS servers.
I've modified DNS to include placing the two servers within a security group and granting that group Full control permissions on the new _svc record.
As of right now I'm able to discover servers and client systems scattered across the enterprise. I've also confirmed the ability to update license status on a number of servers.
When attempting to update license credentials on client systems I get the following error:
Unable to connect to the WMI service on the remote machine.
I've come across a few systems that I've been able to update, most sitting within the same location. So I'm a little confused on how best to troubleshoot this issue.
In addition I have a few Macintosh systems running a virtual parallel of Win7 that are also getting this error when attempting to activate.
I've had other instances where when attempting to update license status the office products will get activated but not the OS.
This issue only occurs on client systems so I'm hoping to get some direction as I've ruled out firewall and blocked ports as the cause.
Any response appreciated.
remote WMI needs a few things to work;
a) networking/routing (can the destination machine be resolved by name? can you route to the destination machine?)
b) permissions (is the account you are using to connect to the target, permitted or denied?)(is there a trust?)
c) is WMI and DCOM on the target machine, healthy/configured correctly?
d) can you successfully connect/authenticate to the target machine, using tools such as msinfo32, compmgmt.msc, "WMIC /node:computername csproduct get name"
some useful tips:

Win7/64 bit and Audition 3 license activation issue
I saw some early discussions on other forums regarding this. Due to a mobo failure I had to rebuild my PC. Because it was an old mobo, I basically built from the ground up, now running a much faster system with the OS as noted above (Win7 Pro/64 bit sp1). I install Audition 3 (running compatibility mode to XP sp3) and activate it. Within about 3 days it pops up with a "license activation is no longer valid" error. Adobe has not been able to successfully solve the issue as after re-activating again, it will fail within a few days again.
I did read some reports that anti-virus programs can interfere with a registry setting required for retaining activation. I do use AVG (albeit the free version), and after the latest re-install turned it off prior to re-installing Audition. I also recently downloaded a series of Win7 KB patches, some as I recall were to deal with compatibility issues. whether that will help we will see.
I can't afford an upgrade at this time, and would like to see 3/3.0.1 remain activated.
Thoughts? Fixes? Patches? Voodoo spells to apply?
TIA@HCH_50
I am not sure whether this will solve but you can try this
1. repair Outlook from control pannel
2. repair NOS from control pannel
3. Repair Sync from NOS sync option
4. Create new profile in Outlook
5. Restart Pc and then try

SCCM 2012 root domain client management from child domain
Hi All,
We have SCCM 2012 environment in Child domain and we would like to manage the root domain clients as well. we are using https mode. What all configuration do we need to make for root domain clients to monitor successfully from child domain.
Is it mandatory to create System Management container for the Root domain? if yes what all permission i need to give for that System Management container.
Do we need to enable Active directory forest discovery?
Regards,
Bhaskar KNo, you do not need to create the System Management container or publish info into it and no you do not need to enable forest discovery.
ConfigMgr ultimately does not care about AD. AD can be used by clients to help them locate services and configure themselves, but this can also be accomplished in other ways in ConfigMgr.

Cross-client activation issue with LBWE
Hi,
I am running into the same problem as the following links:
Problem with setup table fillup
Cross-client problem
We have the configuration client 300 and the loading client 310. The structures in client 100 are active but are inactive in client 310. The first link says that I have to go into LBWE in the loading client to activate the structures, but I have the same issue relating to the second link. This is happening in the DEV system.
Is the fix for the second issue relating to Basis who would allow me to do the activation on the loading client - opening the system for me to activate? Or is it the Developer's issue to find the workaround?
I don't see why the restriction on the configuration for DEV client systems. This is for BW related Configuration issues and nothing is relating to SAP Business Configuration that had to be so restricted.
Please advise how to get the inactive structures to be active in the loading client.
ThanksHi,
It is a very common issue. You can solve it by logging in to 310 client, going to SCC1 transaction and replicating changes from the transport orders that you created in the other DEV client.
It's like transporting from one DEV client to the other, but please note that the request does not need to be released.
I hope this helps.

having trouble installing ProIX on new Windows 8 machine after XP crash. Get almost ll of the way through and get an error box ... contact system support. Only way out is to abort and then it un-installs. Wondering if a licensing max issue since we didn't get an opportunity to uninstall off of crashed machine?
Hey robr72339266,
With a single user license, you can install Acrobat on maximum two computers, say, your laptop at work and desktop at office.
But, you cannot use Acrobat on both the machines simultaneously.
You will first need to deactivate Acrobat from the old machine, then install and activate the software on the new OS with the same serial key.
Please Contact | Adobe to seek help on the same.

Activation issue for ViewLink child destination view obj is not activated
We have a ViewLink in the Application Module.
i) AddressType - Parent ViewObject
ii)Address Detail - Child ViewObject
iii) There are other View Objects as well in the Application Module
When user selects the Address type the detail Address needs to be displayed.
The Parent View Object (Source View Object) is part of the AM data model. During activation other view objects are getting activated without any issues. However the Child View Object or Destination View Object which is a part of the ParentViewObject is causing the following issues during Activation:
While submitting UI page, there is server side validation (in the App Module Impl class) and during validation (at RuntTime), the Application Module Impl class is trying to get a currentRow
(getCurrentRow()) from Child (Destination) View Object however it is throwing a NullPointerException
The code which trhows Exception is ---> Row currentRow = addrDetailViewObj.getCurrentRow(); //Please note addrDetailViewObj is NOT Null howeve the currentRow is coming as NULL
java.lang.NullPointerException
at oracle.jbo.server.ViewRowSetIteratorImpl.activateIteratorState(ViewRowSetIteratorImpl.java:3910)
In order to reproduce the above scenario I have kept the AM pooling OFF. With AM pooling ON i am unable to reproduce any of the above issues.
Please let me know if any extra property settings or coding required in order to activate the Child (Destination) view object.

Edited by: user5396188 on Feb 27, 2012 10:06 PMWhen you work with am pooling off, the state of the am should be written into the db (ps_txn). However, there are some states (like the current row) which is not written into the db (in some versions of jdev). So when the am gets activated there is no current row and you get a NPE in your code (addrDetailViewObj.getCurrentRow();).
The only workaround I know is to store the key of the current row when you get passivated and when you get activated set it again.
Check http://tompeez.wordpress.com/2011/07/08/jdev-always-test-your-app-with-applicationmodule-pooling-turned-off/ for more info.

SAP License issue after system refresh.
Hi,
After system refresh, refreshed system has License info of source system. When trying to apply license from unix, it gives below error, saying system number is incorrect to apply new license. Looks the system number of source system is causing issue. I checked, there is no data in MLICHECK table. I could see some info in "saplikey" table. System is 700 system.
sidadm> saplikey -install "/home/SID/sid_multiple.txt pf=/usr/sap/SID/SYS/profile/SID_DVEBMGS01_sapsidci
This system's system number is "000000000710287641", but there is a license key
for system number "000000000711311441" in file "/home/SID/sid_multiple.txt".
sidadm>
Thanks.First check whether you have deleted all invalid licenses?
use below command to delete invalid licenses
sidadm>saplicense -delete
And apply new license based on new hardwarekey with below command
sidadm>saplicense -install
*I think there should be some invalid licenses lying in your system

Client System health certificate name issue
Hi,
System health certificate is generated using HRA server name for clients system.
There is no event log error for this. Can anyone suggest what can be the issue here.
Thanks,
Sridhar
SridharHi,
Could you offer more information about your environment? Such as your HRA configuration screenshot, now we assume you are using the intranet enterprise CA, because the HRA
will only request health certificates from the CA configured first in the order, unless that server is unavailable or has been identified as unresponsive, therefore maybe you have configure the incorrect CA order.
You can use the following procedure to modify the priority of CAs used by HRA, or to remove CAs from the HRA configuration. HRA will only request certificates from the first
CA configured in the list, unless that CA has been marked as unavailable.
To configure the order or to delete certification authorities using the Windows interface
1.Open the HRA console.
2.In the console tree, click Certification Authorities .
3.Right-click a CA name in the list of servers. Click Move Up to increase preference for this server in the order. Alternatively, click Move Down to decrease preference for
this server in the order.
4.To delete a CA from the list, right-click the CA name, and then click Delete .

Windows 7 - Continuous redeployment time/activation issues
Hello,
I have about 9 classrooms that have from 10 to 25 computers in each along with 30 laptops for offsite use in which the software installed on them changes almost daily depending on what class is being taught. Currently we have been using Comodo Time Machine
on the laptops and previously on the desktops although we are using windows deployment server on the desktops now. My issue is that every time we reimage the systems we are running into activation issues. This system was put into place before I got here and
am trying to find the right direction to head into. It looks like the current windows deployment images sysprepped so that is why they are coming overdue right out of the gate. We do have licensing through the Microsoft Partner Network although im awaiting
access. Staying in the trial zone of the install is what they have been trying to do although the image was not properly configured and is out of date once its put on the system and the black screen comes up. Comodo is quick but lacks the ability to stay current
and only allows for a set amount of images due to space and can lack uniformity. A fast re-image speed would be beneficial but the speed of the deployment server has been working since I start it the day before for the next class. To me it seems like I should
fix the image on the deployment server and see where that takes me. Does anyone have any experience of this type of setup or know any other options?Hi,
Based on my understanding, you want to auto activate the Windows during the deployment, right?
If yes, What's the type of your license?
If you have KMS server, you don't need do any thing.
If you have MAK license, you cannot set input the key in answer file to activate.
In addition, what the deployment tool did you use?

Windows 7 KMS Licensing Service on S12
The Windows 7 KMS Licensing Service can not work on my lenovo S12(via nano). It shows an error code as followed:
0xC004F035
Description:
The Software Licensing Service reported that the computer could not be
activated with a Volume license product key. Volume-licensed systems require
upgrading from a qualifying operating system. Please contact your system
administrator or use a different type of key.
However, the computer is shipped without operating system. After web browsing, I fuond the problem may lie in the BIOS . There is a label [SLIC] shows in the ACPI table name list. An improper version of Windows System may be wrote into the BIOS. It seems like I need a newer version of BIOS firnware to clear out the SLIC to pass the KMS Licensing Service. I called lenovo's local technical support, but it appears that they did not realize this problem. Is there any newer version of BIOS firnware to solve this problem?Hello MKBF and welcome.
The problem is not the BIOS, but a Microsoft license issue.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/938450
about half way down the page:
Cause
This issue may occur because volume editions are licensed for upgrade only. Installation of a volume operating system on a computer that does not have a qualifying operating system installed is not supported.
Workaround
To work around this issue, install a qualifying version of a Microsoft operating system, and then reinstall the volume operating system.
A Windows XP installation should do ... or maybe just the /i386 folder from XP on the hard drive? - Or you need to buy a more expensive Windows 7 key.

Office 2013 Volume License Activation question
Hello,
we have software assurance, so MAK and KMS are available for O2013.
I cannot use KMS server (there are reasons for now). So I have to use MAK. I know that it is possible later on to convert MAK to KMS.
I found topic about ADBA. But missing few points from the description after my 2 questions.
1. Can I use KMS key for use with Volume Activation Tool without actually having KMS installed?
2. at the end it says just 180 days activation. What will happen then?
From:
http://searchenterprisedesktop.techtarget.com/tip/Using-Active-Directory-activation-and-other-new-Office-2013-tools
-------Prior to Office 2013, IT had to rely on Multiple Activation Key (MAK) or Key Management Service (KMS) activation. These processes were generally more complex than ADBA. Little has changed with either MAK or KMS in Office 2013. With ADBA, however,
IT can easily
activate Office 2013 clients through their connections to the domain.
To implement ADBA, administrators must use the Volume Activation Tools utility, which walks them through the setup process. After admins supply the KMS host key, the setup process adds an activation object to the
Active Directory Domain Services. The activation object uses the same Generic Volume Licenses Key (GVLK) and KMS host pair as that for regular KMS activation. When the client joins the domain, the activation object automatically activates the Office installation,
granting a license to the client for 180 days. --------------

Q1) there is a KMShost product key, and there is a KMSclient product key.
The KMShost product key, you install this in your KMShost machine, and the client machines which have the KMSclient product key will contact your KMShost machine for activation.
Volume Licensed products are provided by MSFT with the KMSclient product key already installed. The KMSclient product keys are also publically available in the TechNet library documentation.
VAMT can be used, with or without KMS installed. VAMT is not part of KMS, and, KMS is not part of VAMT.
ADBA is not part of VAMT and VAMT is not part of ADBA.
ADBA can only be used if your AD is at the later version, and, ADBA only works for the latest products like Windows8 and Office2013.
If you have older AD or older products you will still need to have KMS or MAK.
Q2) after 180days, it's the same as KMS - the KMSclient (or ADBA client) will enter "non-genuine" mode if the client has not contacted ADBA object (or KMShost) to renew the activation status.
This wiki article I put together, includes a few helpful links about ADBA and KMS:

WebRequest.Create Hangs in Client system with Windows 8.1 with Fmrk 4.5
Hi,
We are hosting a Windows Form in IE builded with .Net Target Framework 3.5 and running in ASP.Net website's run time .Net Framework 2.0.
Till now, this is working in Windows 7 and IE11 combination. When we planned to migrate to Windows 8 and IE11 combination, some functionalities in the Windows form hosted in IE fails, its keep on hanging.
When we debugged the code, we found that hanging happens at
1. To insert a image
WebRequest request = WebRequest.Create(url);
2. While doing webservice call
CSpellCheckerWS objCUserDictionaryWordsWS = new CSpellCheckerWS();
Please find below our Trails for workaround:
1. We have try catch block on top of above lines, but it never comes to catch or proceed (checked for more than 30 minutes), its keep on running that makes IE to hang. End user have to kill the IE to proceed with our web application.
2. We have timeout option for WebRequest object, but we are having problem in the constructor itself, so unable to make use of timeout option.
3. We planned to use HttpClient object, but for this we need to build our Windows Form with Target Framework .Net 4.5. But .Net framework 4.5 will no longer support to host the Windows Form in IE.
4. We observed that, for our Windows Form project dll, say abcd.dll, we have ref link to abcd.config.xml
in the ASP.Net hosted web page. If we remove the *.config.xml, then we do not have this hanging issue. So, our problem solves here. But we faced another problem. Now we are getting
404 errors for all the dependent child dll for our main dll, abcd.dll. Even though we have child dlls in the same folder of abcd.dll, it is checking in website root folder, bin folder , .exe, .dll and finally after 8 iterations, it is picking
the correct dll. So for multiple child dlls we are getting 9 * no. of child dlls = 404 errors. So, we are unable to proceed further.

So, please guide us how to proceed further. What is the relation between the *.config.xml and WebRequest.Create constructor and 404 errors.
We have simple test application to replicate the issue. If needed, I can share the application.
System Requirements to replicate : Windows 8.1, IE 11 and (Client system having .Net 4.5) and Windows / Web projects builded with .Net 3.5/2.0 respectively.
Note : We have run caspol settings and set EnableIEHosting to 1 (DWord).Hello,
>>When we planned to migrate to Windows 8 and IE11 combination, some functionalities in the Windows form hosted in IE fails, its keep on hanging.
What .NET Framework version are you using after you migrate your client to windows 8 and IE11? If it is 4.0 or 4.5, I am afraid this is by designed because hosting controls in IE is now blocked by default (as of v4 or v4.5). See MSDN article under
'Web Applications'.
You could still enable it by modifying its provided registry key.
By the way, since this issue is related with IE and web application, I suggest that you could post such kind of issues to related forum, as
IE forum and Web forum.

I have been directed from the Office Install/Upgrade/Activate forum to ask my question in this forum:
We have Office 2010 deployed in our 2008R2 RDS environment across 100's of servers. We have multiple (failover) KMS servers, and there have been no issues with Office licensing. We have noticed that Event ID: 1003 "The
Software Protection service has completed licensing status check" comes up repeatedly in the APP logs on the RDS servers, presumably after the end user launches an Office application. I understand this to be considered normal,
from what I have read and researched so far.
However, we are attempting to understand how this activity affects performance in an RDS environment, where multiple users may be launching Office applications at any given time on the server. I have seen posts where suggestions were
made to try and stop the OSPP service when inactive, but that would most likely never happen on an active RDS server with users launching Outlook and other office apps throughout the day.
Can someone give any insight as to the need to mitigate any of this activity involved with Office KMS "licensing status checking" specifically in an RDS environment? If we're missing any performance gains by dialing this
service back, then I would like to address it. If this behavior is by design, and in most cases benign (non-performance-impacting) then I would like to know that also.Haven't heard from anyone on this. ??
