Kmz opens with photoshop question

All my .kHz files are being opened by Photoshop and not Google Earth.
I select any a kHz file >>> CMD I >>> Open With Google Earth >>> Change all = No good.
Then >>> Open With Other >>> From Apps. Enable Recommended Applications or All Applications >>> Check Always Open With Google Earth.
The second I press Change All, the Open With jumps back to Photoshop.
I cannot find any Photoshop or Google Preferences that helps.
Thanks in advance.
Google Earth V.5.1.3533.1731
Photoshop CS 4 Extended V 11

Using Get Info on the file to change the app, and then clicking the button to Change All really ought to work. You can try resetting the Launch Services database and see if that helps. See macjack's instructions here:

If that doesn't work either you may have installed something that is over-riding the defaults.

The following should fix the problem. Note that I take no responsibility for  what this does or may do, so you're on your own. I have had no problems with  it, but that is no guarantee of anything.
Create  a new text document (name it whatever you like), and change the  extension to .reg; this will specify it as a Windows registry file  entry. Copy and paste the following into the document:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Adobe.Premiere.Pro.Project]
    @="Adobe Premiere Project"
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Adobe.Premiere.Pro.Project\DefaultIcon]
    @="\"C:\\Program Files\\Adobe\\Adobe Premiere Pro CS5\\Adobe Premiere Pro.exe\",1"
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Adobe.Premiere.Pro.Project\shell]
    @=""
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Adobe.Premiere.Pro.Project\shell\open]
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Adobe.Premiere.Pro.Project\shell\open\command]
    @="\"C:\\Program Files\\Adobe\\Adobe Premiere Pro CS5\\Adobe Premiere Pro.exe\" \"%1\""
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Adobe.Premiere.Pro.Project]
    @="Adobe Premiere Project"
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Adobe.Premiere.Pro.Project\DefaultIcon]
    @="\"C:\\Program Files\\Adobe\\Adobe Premiere Pro CS5\\Adobe Premiere Pro.exe\",1"
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Adobe.Premiere.Pro.Project\shell]
    @=""
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Adobe.Premiere.Pro.Project\shell\open]
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Adobe.Premiere.Pro.Project\shell\open\command]
    @="\"C:\\Program Files\\Adobe\\Adobe Premiere Pro CS5\\Adobe Premiere Pro.exe\" \"%1\""
Save the file, and then simply double-click it. A  dialog will appear asking if you want to add this information to the  registry--click Yes if you do (which I assume is why you're asking).  This will reassign the extension to the shell command to open a .prproj  file to Premiere Pro CS5--nothing more.
Again, I accept no responsibility for this if it melts your hard drive, calls you names, and kicks you in the shin. Registry hackery is not for the faint-of-heart, but in terms of potential for mishap, this rates about a 1.2 on a scale of 10.
Thanks For the Info I Tried that before and It still didn't help But I finally figured it out with another program and It seemed to clear everything up

Hello.  I am running Photoshop CC 2014 on a MAC with OSX LION.  I also have Photoshop CS6 installed.  When I double-click on a file in Bridge CC, it always opens in CS6.  If I say "OPEN WITH Photoshop CC 2014", or if I drag the file directly to CC 2014 in the Dock it will open in CC.  Since I like to double-click or hit return in the bridge, I am constantly having to wait until the file opens in CS6, quit CS6 an then open it another way to get it into Photoshop CC 2014.  I tried to disable CS6 by hiding it, but then double-clicking Bridge did nothing.  Any ideas why this is happening?

Check and adjust the File Type Associations in the bridge cc preferences.

  • Open with photoshop in Bridge CC

When I try to open a file in bridge CC with the command "open with photoshop (default)", I get the message "windows cannot find photoshop CS4, make sure you typed the name correctly and try again". Yes, I had CS4 a long time ago, before CS5 and 6. How can I get bridge to open my files in photoshop CC?

Ok, I go to edit > preferences > file type associations. It shows me a list of file types. I suppose I have to go to canon camera raw in there. It says photoshop, so I click the little arrow there It gives me three choises: photoshop, COM surrogate 6,1 and browse. I choose browse. That brings me in my program files. There I click on adobe and than what? Do I click adobe photoshop CC and open or do I have to go further and click a folder within CC? I hope I make myself clear enough, its difficult for me in English.

  • Can't Open with Photoshop on PSD file

If I right click on a PSD file and say open with Photoshop CS, it opens Photoshop but doesn't open the image. This also happens when I grag a graphic image to the Photoshop CS icon on the dock. If I right click and say Open with ImageReady, it works. Anyone else have this problem? Should I reinstall Photoshop? I can open Photoshop and then do a File->Open to open the image.
    Thanks,
    Alfredo

hi, sometimes big images could not open with photoshop.ı can open with windows but cant open photoshop.if ı try to open i am seeing a white image.is there any answer for this problem please.

Just to assist those who might help you with this, please give the exact version of Photoshop CS6 you are running, for instance CS6 13.0.1.3.
I had already asked for that in my previous post, but I guess you didn't quite know what I was referencing when I typed "exact version".
Sorry, I cannot help you myself because I don't deal with that kind of 3D images, don't use Windows, and in all frankness I'm not quite following your last post.
Also please give the exact model of your graphics card, so they can check whether it is on the list of cards tested by Adobe.
    Thank you.

  • "Open with" Photoshop doesn't open the graphics file

I use an old version of Photoshop (6.0) - but it does all I need, which is the reason I haven't upgraded. Sometimes over the past few years, when I've installed the programme afresh (on a new PC, or after a reinstallation of XP for instance) I get the following annoyance and I wonder if anyone has any ideas how to solve it.
When I right-click on a jpg, bmp (etc. etc.) file and choose 'Open with  ...  Adobe Photoshop' from the context menu, this action opens up the PS programme, but the actual graphics file I have clicked on does not open with it. I have to browse for it from Photoshop once it has opened, which is annoying of course if the file is buried deep in a sub-sub-subfolder somewhere and/or I have many files to work with.
At first I tried uninstalling and reinstalling PS, but that doesn't fix the problem. Anyone know what I can do?
    Thanks,
    Martin

In the top dialog you can click on Change to set the default program to open the file type.
You can add other actions, like Print and Preview, by clicking on the Advanced button (see the lower dialog) and using New... .
You may need to click on Restore if you don't see an Advanced button.
I use PS to open and the Viewer to preview.

  • RAW (NEF) photos from my new Nikon D750 will not open with Photoshop Elements11 Camera RAW.

RAW (NEF) photos from my new Nikon D750 will not open in Camera RAS with Photoshop Elements 11. This has not been a problem with previous Nikon cameras. I'm using a MacBook Pro with OS X 10.9.5. How can I solve this problem?  Thanks.

Aside from upgrading to pse 13, you can use the 8.7.1 adobe dng converter to convert the files to dng copies, which pse 11 should then open.

  • CS5 - Can't "Open With" Photoshop in Bridge?

I have CS5 installed and I am my defaults for Opening is Elements 8 on my
Vista machine and "nothing" on my XP laptop.
When on either machine and I right click an image, Photoshop is NOT an option to Open With.
If I go to preferences, I can manually set the default, but this is not an acceptable solution as I need my defaults to be something different.
For example, I need the default for my Nikon RAW files to remain Nikon Capture NX2, but I want the ability to right click and select the application I want to use.
How to I add Photoshop (or any other application) to the "Open With" List?

What you see on other programs in the list (aside the default, which is defined for Bridge only) of programs which a certain filetype were openend in the OS once.
For example (close Bridge / CS) and choose Quicktime as the default program for opening TIF in XP and you will have it in the list after Bridge was started again.
I'm afraid you need to do that for every application (close Bridge, choose a different default app for opening TIF in the OS, open Bridge again, and so on) you want to have in the list for a certain filetype.
When done don't forget to change it back to the default program you want to have it opened in the OS, f.e. CS5.
No need to make an application the default program (uncheck "always use the selected program to open this kind of file") - just say once "open with" and you will find it in Bridges "open with" list

  • "open with" photoshop not available

When I right-click a picture or an image under windows explorer, and coose the "open-with" option, why does not it offer me to open it with Photoshop (which is purchased and correctly installed)?

Open Bridge and click edit/preferences/file type associations and set the default to CS6.

  • Editing with Photoshop question

    Hey guys,
I am reposting this under a new subject.
My question is concerning the presets in preferences for an external editor.
I use PS4 and am wondering what is the deference between the tiff and psd selections.
I have played around with both and notice the file size changes when I bring a picture back into aperture. There is also a huge deference between 8bit and 16bit. Also what dpi setting is a good all around setting. I am interested in hearing some different views on how you set this up and why.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
    Blessings!
    John

Is the sRGB IE61966-2.1 setting the one you are referring to as sRGB?
Yes, that is the one I am referring to.
I used to spend alot of time messing around with my images, but now I would rather just keep the good ones that do not require much post-production work. Sending the file in that colorspace allows me to view it as it will appear in the intended final forms I use (as mentioned above; web, print shop, digital files).
I would be converting it to that colorspace at some point anyway, so I just send the file to Photoshop in the final colorspace (I am not a professional, so potentially losing some color is not the issue it might be if I had clients).
I shoot with a Nikon D300 and it has two settings sRGB and AdobeRGB.
I have it set on sRGB.
I shoot a Nikon D80 and use the same default colorspace, but I had previously used the AdobeRGB when I was strictly using Bridge > ACR > Photoshop workflow because ACR defaults to the flatter looking starting point anyway.
AdobeRGB is slightly smaller than ProPhoto RGB, but larger than sRGB colorspace.
I tend to agree with RWBoyer on being able to see the colors and having confidence in time spent on adjustments, so I stay in the sRGB colorspace simply because my monitor displays a larger portion of that colorspace than either AdobeRGB or ProPhotoRGB.
In reality, if your end goal is for print, then the final print is going to be the deciding factor for you (and whether you want to go with the larger colorspace if that looks better to you).
Perhaps others will have some different viewpoints to give you more information.

  • Opening with Photoshop

Photoshop Elements is not listed as one of my options for an external editor under iPhoto preferences, although it is on my computer.
How can I set iPhoto to open my photos in Photoshop?

    barbara72787:
A word of warning. If the edits you perform cause PS to change the extension of the file and put you in the Save AS window, you'll have to do one of two things:
1 - cancel the Save As and go back and flatten the image. Then when you select save it will be saved as a jpg in the correct folder for iPhoto to use.
2 - continue with the Save As but save it to the Desktop. Then import the new psd file into iPhoto.
If you don't do one of those options iPhoto will never know the file was edited and not know were the edited file is located.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Camera RAW 6.2 sharpening isn't used when open with Photoshop CS5.

    Greetings,
Lately I've noticed when I sharpen a photo in Camera RAW 6.2, that sharpening isn't carried over when I open it in Photoshop CS5.  It doesn't mater if I open or open as a Smart Object.
Also, I don't know weather this is associated or not, some adjustments don't appear to take effect.  Color or detail adjustments don't seem to take affect.
