Kn8 neo platinum sound issues?

I got the system running well except for the rear speakers.
I installed the nvidia reference drivers and after the reboot the nvmixer would not load, I then installed the realtek drivers and application off the msi cd, that did work but I have no sound from the rear speakers.
Any sugestions?

Go to Control Panel - Sound and Audio Devices - Speaker Settings - ADvanced and select the kind of speakers you have.
Note that you must uninstall the nvidia audio from the control panel. It is not supported.

Kn8 neo platinum sound issue?

I just got the system built and its running good with a single sata drive. All I did was enable the sata # in the bio's and windows did the rest. Great board so far.
ok 1 problem, Im running logitech 640 5.1 speakers and have the speaker config in the msi pannel set to 6 ch. I can get any sound from the rear speakers? followed the color codes but still no rear channel.
any sugestions?

im guessing your coming from a nforce 2 with soundstorm that has realtime 5.1 encoding.
im also guessing your sound is hooked up with an optical or coax cable??
those sounds tests only work if you have 5.1 analog via 3 minijack-coax splitter
soundstorm was the only one that did 5.1 digital realtime encoding. read games/music etc
anything but soundstorm only does 5.1 passthrough for movies.
i dont know if that helped. but ive been anxiously awaiting the next soundstorm solution./ games are a much better experience with it

KN8 Neo Platinum

After 8 months, my KN8 NEO Platinum mobo quit working. The repair shop did some preliminary diagnostics to confirm the problem, then shipped the board back to MSI under warranty. Did not have time to wait for the turnaround, so I purchased another KN8 Neo and installed it in the same box. Nothing else changed. Worked fine for 8 days, then the second KN8 Neo quit working with exact same symptoms as the first.
Both times, the first symptom was that a USB port quit working during a sync with my PDA. Moved the PDA to a different USB port and completed the sync. Other than the USB port, the system continued to work fine until I put it in suspend mode (S3 sleep, I think). The next day the system would not awake from sleep. Nor would it respond to the reset button or the power on switch. When power is turned on, I get a rapidly blinking power LED, but no sounds or screen display.
Clearing the CMOS and a new power supply do not solve the problem.
The power LED blinks rapidly
The diagnostic LED's on the USB bracket are all off.
Light on ethernet port is on steady
No fans are turning
Front power switch does not turn any lights/fans on or off
Returned the second MOBO to the store and their diagnostics confirm that the MOBO is bad. Exactly what is bad, they don't know or won't tell. They are willing to replace it, but I am concerned that I have some other problem that is causing the MOBO to fail. I am nervous about replacing it again without knowing the cause of the problem.
Any suggestions?
Any possibility that the PDA sync is the culprit?
I may not have this exactly correct because I'm going from memory:

AMD Athalon 64 3000+
Nvidia 3 chipset
512 MB OCX DDR 400 Ram
No overclocking
Windows XP Pro SP2

I have had this same problem with my K8N Neo Platinum and so did my brother. We think is is due to our computer cases. They have the front USB ports mounted on an insulated plastic area. There was a 5th wire that had to be disconnected from the USB cable in order for the front USB ports to work. I think this was a ground wire, but do not know why the ports would not work when it was connected.
Both motherboards were killed when we plugged in an external hard drive and a USB memory stick. I saw a static spark jump when I plugged in the ext hard drive. The computer worked for about 2 minutes and then froze up never to power up again.
I think it is a combination of the dry winter air and static build up AND the non chassis grounded front mount USB connectors.
Now I always touch the back of the computer case BEFORE I connect anything as it is grounded via the AC power line. I also did not opt to reconnect the front mount USB ports instead using a remote USB hub.

MSI K8N NEO PLATINUM BlueScreen Issue! Help!

I'm having an issue with my MSI K8N NEO i get the blue screens occasionally.. A friend of mine says its a IDE driver issue.. LMK Here are the system specifications.

LMK whats wrong if you have ideas, i dont know if you have sufficient information to come up with a conclusion.. im not too sure whats going on either.. But A friend of mine is getting exact same issues he says its IDE conflicts.. now when the Blue screen comes up it doesnt stay long enough to give a moment to read it.. lmk if you have ideas thx..

which drivers are you using?
Right click MY computer -> properties -> Advance -> start up and recovery -> system failure -> uncheck "automatically restart"
this way it will stop at the blue screen and get an stop error number
Or view the error log
Help and support -> Pick a Task ->Use Tools to view your computer information and diagnose problems ->under Tools -> my computer Information-> View Advanced System Information -> View error log
it shows all errors by date migh provide you error numbers ie. 0x000008e

K8N Neo Platinum sound NOISE

Hi
This is the most stable system I ever had BUT, I don't know if this is a problem with the onboard sound but I'm getting allot of noise through the sound card. Hisses, beeps and buzzing noises very annoying... It increases when XP is booting/loaded. I even get little beeps when I'm in the Bios...
I have tried moving the cables away from each other even moving & shielding the mains cables, muting the various inputs & outputs in Win XP and disabling the sound in the bios I still get the noise! Oh, and I’ve tried it through headphones... So it’s definitely interference with something inside. I was thinking the graphics card…
So, would I be better off getting a separate PCI sound card (e.g. SoundBlaster)?

Neo platinum case issues? usb and sound

Hi first time on the board..
now I just built my first comp and it boots up without a hitch everything fine i think then low and behold I have no sound or front usb support so i search thru the forum and find the article on the usb problems and I think what if thats my problem so i un plug the front usb and sound connect and my rear sound starts working but now i have rear sound and usb but no front also my hdd led and my power led will not work. I want to keep my case but i need my hdd led and my power led to work or the case is worthless i have a cool master cavaliver case. PLEASE help a n00b get this working thanks

Means you dont have then on the right way round.
The switch / reset can go on any way, but leds have to be correct.

P35 neo front sound issue

i have purchased a bundel p35 neo with a duel core e6750 .
did all the cabel and computer worked apart from no front sound or mic .rear panel works fine.
any ideas please as it doing me head in .even tryed the fixed driver fro msi site still no joy

I'm having the same problem.Rear panel works fine but front panel does not.I tried disabling Jack Detection but ma front panel just not working...When i plug my head phone to rear panel it works fine.Problem is with the front panel.

K8n-neo-platinum sounds problem

heya guys, i have only had this mobo a few days and am very impressed
i have only one gripe/issue...the onboard sound is supposed to support SPDIF/optical out...now i have a Technics dolby digital/DTS receiver...i have connected the lead to connect the two together.
now the sound is very low quality and skips a hell of a lot...my amp's signal light keep flicking off as well, now the amp & cable are fine as i have tested them with devices that do work fine (PS2 optical connection 5.1 audio stright away), the mother board
i am using latest NForce drivers and am using Bios 1.3
i was really looking forward to using this feature cos my audigy's optical won't even switch on
any ideas guys?

K8N Neo Platinum sound problem!

Has anyone had any problems with the on board sound?
With a basic hardware setup, I get a faint beep every 2 seconds from my 5.1 speakers when in the BIOS screen, and I get noise whenever the RAM is accessed (Corsair TWINX XMS 3200LL has LEDs on the heat shield and the speakers produce noise consistent with the LED activity). There is a low frequency rumbling noise whenever some active content is displayed in internet explorer, even sliding the volume bar on the desktop produces a rumbling sound!!
I have tried a reinstall with a barebones setup, all defaults in BIOS, but the problem is still there even before windows is installed. I even tried a seperate PCI soundcard, and the problem is still there! MSI say the board is suspect. Am I the first to experience this??

I get the same symptoms whether using a sound card or on board sound. MSI seem to think its a dicky board, also on another forum someone said it was probably the north or southbridge going south (or north!)
I plan to return the board, I've only had the damn thing 2 days!

MSI K8N Neo Platinum ,bios issue or HW

Hi i am using a system like in the signature described (usind adata instead of twinmos) im cooling with a prometeia system , and the board ist watercooled.
My CPU is a Newcastle (@2800mhz ) my graphic card is the normal 9700pro (it makes no diff in oc if the card is clocked or not)
Now i got some serious problems , i can´t run high fsb sync ? Why ? i wasn´t able to do this with the twinmos ram , but i read twinmos has some serious problems with the nforce3, so i purchased 2*512 mb adata.
I tried different dimm combinations (1/2 ; 1/3) that didn´t made any difference
I tried different bios (1.2 1.25 1.31 1.1) but this didnt made any difference either (using 131 now)
my pci/agp is fix (always 66,67/33,34 in clockgen so its just perfect)
i don´t use any SATA devices (all disabled in bios)
What is my Problem ? is it only a bios problem , or is there hardware in my sys which makes probs? Could it be an IRQ Problem (got 2 pci cards in slot 3 and4 its an IDE raid controller and a soundcard)
i hope there is any help for me :(

K8n neo platinum driver problem

i have got a kn8 neo platinum nforce 3 amd 64 bit motherboard and on a game armada the graphics go funny so i have been told to update drivers for graphics card fx5900xt which i have done and also update the unified drivers version 5.10 but when i install the unified drivers my usb ports do not work i have service pack 2 installed anyone got any ideas...i have to reset my bios on the motherboard to get the usb to work.

NEO 4 platinum sli sound issue...Please help

I am having a "no sound" issue as well...but I have the -5v line....and a 24 pin connector. I have read as much as I can about this and cannot figure out why I still have no sound...
I am using a Thermaltake 680W Power Supply. It has three 12V rails 15A, 15A, and 8A. The -5V rail is 1A
The SB Live 24 bit drivers are loaded
All shows well in Device manager
I did run the sound test in Windows and the microphone works!
But no sound.... Any suggestions? Help....
I am running the orginal 3.0 bios...

It was set to using the analog outs....
I have tried everything....no go....I finally just slapped in my Audigy 2 ZS!
Did not want to mess with it any more.....
It took me three days to put together this SLI water-cooled system....I do not want to RMA for that....
Everything elase works great..

Beware. msi k8-neo platinum have BIG issues!!! READ

Ok so everyone going to buy the msi k8-neo platinum socket 754 beware!
The msi k8-neo have big issues with the inbuild soundsystem wich is crap, maybe they fix it soon i hope so but im not alone having this problem. Some have fixed it with installing the drivers from realtek homepage so do so if you think something is wrong with it.
Second big problem is that the msi-k8neo platinum mainboard doesnt work well with radeon 9800 based card. You can fix this by installing the 4.1 catalyst drivers.
So maybe you want to w8 a little and see if they fix it first. Sofar the support havnt ben replying my mails neither confirmed that there is a problem with this. Im playing rtcw so i had to isntall the old 4.1 drivers, but doing so i couldnt be able to play doom3, wich cuz of doom3 i bought this computer So if anyone has solutions to this problems pls post them here. They have more problems then this but not so big as those (what i know).
Hope the fix them in time

You are just the opposite of me. After I face terrible image quality issues with nVidia drivers back then, I sold my 5800 and gotten a 9800 Pro. Now I swear I will never ever look at another Nvidia card. I still can't understand why a big company like nvidia cheated with their drivers to score higher on benchmarks.

K8N Neo Platinum issue, computer does not boot..

I’m going to try to be as thorough as possible here… :D
Recently I reinstalled Windows Xp (32-bit version) on my computer to speed things up again like it used to be. I did an updated on the BIOS while I was at it as well, through the Live Update tool downloaded from the msi.com.tw website. The install went well, no errors. The next day while playing WoW the computer began acting weird and computer froze during gameplay. After that the computer had artefacts, strange disturbance on the screen making it impossible to see anything on the screen. So I thought that maybe since the screen looked all messed up it was definitely the graphics card that was about to die and so I sent the gfx to the retailer and they checked it thoroughly for errors without finding any, while they were at it they also checked my RAM and they also came out clean.
A few days ago when my Gfx and RAM came back I inserted them back onto the mobo and when turning on the powerswitch nothing happened… I therefore tried to solve the problem myself and began reinserting all the computer parts piece after piece and well the computer started at least with the fans going and all but after a few seconds it shuts down again.
When I plug in the power cable the PSU makes a clicking sound, don’t know if that’s normal but haven’t noticed it before.
To maybe help you guys when helping me I installed the d-bracket (the usb thingy with 4 led’s ^^) which shows 4 red lights when starting the computer and lasts until the computer shuts down. According to the d-bracket FAQ it means: “- The D-LED will hang here if the processor is damaged or not installed properly or you have a weak Power Supply Unit.”
Well I reinstalled the cpu, put on new thermal grease so I don’t think that is the problem and the computer has been working fine for more than one year until now... How do I know if it’s the PSU or if the cpu is damaged? Could the motherboard been damaged after Live update’s flash? And what could have caused the artefacts on my screen the other day? Errors with the newest nVidia gfx drivers? I’m very confused :S
What should I do?

I've now received a new PSU from Antecs RMA department. A TruePower 2.0 380W. My computer still doesn't work. 4 Red LED's when trying to boot it up. But I have noticed one thing since last time I wrote here. Remember what I was saying that I upgraded my BIOS through LiveUpdate? When I later checked my motherboard I noticed the CMOS pins around JBAT1(I think) was incorrectly placed. Instead of having them on either 1,2(to keep settings) or 1,3(to clear CMOS) they were placed right next to the JBAT1 pins, on something that wasn't named or explained in my manual. Maybe that is the reason my computer is acting strange? I mean the BIOS could maybe not have properly been saved or something. :/
I'm too inexperienced to know if that had anything to do with my recent computer isssues, but maybe you guys know. Would that screwup by me be covered by my warranty?
If that pins-placed-wrong-on-the-mobo problem doesn't have anything to do with my problem that leaves me with the 4 LEDs from the D-bracket showing a broken CPU or PSU(it's brand new, shouldn't be any problem with it!). So a damaged CPU it is.
Anyone of you got an idea? Been away from my computer for too long. This is getting annoying.
