Know an extension that searches for the file "last modified" date?

I am working on a site with 80,000 pages and need to find an
extension that will search all files within the site and populate
the date each file was last modified. Know of an extension that
will assist in this situation? Any ideas will help, thanks in
advance!

Ahh, so now your requirements are changing. You do not want a
simple
text file output after all, but instead a sortable list. So
perhaps
output as a csv that could be sorted within a spreadsheet.
Altho 80000
rows?
It is a bit hard to believe that an organization with an
80000 page
website does not have inhouse gurus who could do this in a
heart beat.

Getting the Publisher Last Modified Date to show up in a snapshot query?

Hello,
I have been requested to create a Snapshot Query of the latest content to a Publisher 6.5 folder. I created a Publisher Crawler to output data to the Knowledge Directory (KD), then created a Snapshot Query to point at the KD folder.
I set it to use Object Last Modifed - but it pulls the last crawl date, and then tried File Modifed - which gives the date 01/01/00 12:00 AM, Published comes up with 01/01/00 12:00AM, Publisher comes up with a blank.
Publisher itself has two time fields - Created and Modified On. I want to display Modified On and have no luck.
Help!?

edit: reading your post again, i'm not sure i understand. i am probably giving you bad info.
Are you saying you want the KD card modified dates to match the content item modified dates? Thats not really how the portal works (although lots of people want it to work that way).
The KD card modified dates reflect the last time the card was refreshed. (Useless, I know)

Is there a way to get the last modifed date of a file residing on a remote machine ?
I tried the URL class. But could get to the file's contents and not the last modifed date of the file.

It depends on how you access the file.
if the files are in a shared folder you can create a file object for it and get the last modified date.
If it in a HTTP/FTP server then you should be able to ge the last updated date as a header.

I was cleaning up desktop and deleted a firefox file that I didn't recognize....it ended up being the one that allows for opening up the previous session

I have no idea how/why it was on desktop....and I emptied the recycle bin already! I was just trying to get organized a bit and clean up clutter...but I did use that feature almost daily, as it helped me to just close up the computer in the evening without worrying about getting to all the work the next day, as I would now immediately remember what I was doing!

Need a fix for the 'folder last opened date'

I have been using Hazel [from www.noodlesoft.com] to set the colours of recently opened or modified files to make them easier to spot.
Within Hazel, I have set rules to monitor files contained in a named folder (and sub-folders contained therein) so I can visually spot what I have recently been working on. The rules achieve this by setting the label colours of:
• files worked on in the last 2 days to 'Green'
• unless already set to 'Green', files worked on in the last 7 days to 'Blue'
• unless already set to 'Green' or 'Blue', files worked on in the last 14 days to 'Purple'
• remove label colours for all files labelled 'Purple', 'Green' or 'Blue' that were last worked on over 14 days ago
Hazels works very well and achieves the effect I am after for files contained in that folder and its sub-folders. No problems there.
The problem I have is in defining a similar scheme of rules to apply to FOLDERS using a rule in Hazel to set the colour of a folder (or sub-folder) by reference to the date on which a folder was last opened.
For some reason, Finder does NOT update the last opened date for a folder. In fact, I have discovered (by painstakingly getting information a folder at a time) that a number of folders have date anomalies like the example below:
Date created: 4 Sep 2006
Modified date: today [which is correct as I deleted a file from in this folder]
Date opened: 31 Oct 2006 [which ignores that fact I had to open the folder today to delete the file...]
Any ideas on what could be going wrong here? Or more to the point, how I can fix this? I have run Disk Utility and using Onyx, ensured all three maintenance scripts have been run.
Any thoughts?

I am going to have to abandon Firefox and go back to IE. The fact that there has been no response is extremely disheartening. I am quite sure there is some malware involved and don't want to risk ID theft. This kind of problem should be the #1 concern for a browser company. I have regrets because I like Firefox otherwise and think it superior to the other browsers on the market including IE. C'est la vie.

Search for User by last logon date no longer works after upgrading to SPS18

We used to be able to Search by last logon date under User Administration as a quick way to find out who logged on for a particular date. It worked well, but only for a single date range. We were on EP 6.0 SPS13 at the time. Since we have upgraded to SPS18, it no longer works. All we get back now is no user found no matter what date we enter.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? I've been searching and haven't found anything. I wanted to try and get more information before I create an OSS message.

How Can I Search for Media files by Length?

I want know how can I search for media files (mov, mp4, flv and movie files in general) by their length?
If this search function is confirmed as definitely not possible on the OS, I would appreciate someone recommending app that might be able to perform such a search?

No possible way. Because the files may be enoded with differing codecs, compression, etc., you can only sort by file size, not the 'length' of the movie files.

Searching for a file in java

What I am trying to do is not very uncommon. I want to open a file in it's default application (or at least in a common one.)
Mainly I am currently thinking either HTML files or PDF's.
What I was wondering is how to search for a file and get its directory path. For example I want to search for the file "Acrobat". In windows its directory is "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 5.0\Acrobat\Acrobat.exe"
But I know in MAC or Unix the path could be very different. Not only that, but what if they did not use the default installation directory. I just want to find the path of a file by invoking a search. Is there currently any way to do this?
I know I can open a JFileChooser and make the user search and find the program they wish to run it in, but that certainly is not very user friendly. I'd rather the program just searched for the proper application(s) and then called the exec() method to run the file in the program.
Any help is appreciated.

java.io.File provides a listRoots() method that returns all file system roots. So for Windoze you'd get 'A:/', 'B:/' 'C:/' ... etc.
Unix you'd get '/' and so on.
Now you can use other File methods to recursively scan the roots.
Here's some (untried) code to get you going that searches for all java.exe found on all roots.

You will run into problems with some roots as they will be removeable media (cd's diskettes) or network drives (potentially huge number of dirs to scan). So I do not recommend that you search on all roots, but a subset.

I activated the archivlog Mode descried in the doc.. After that I create the RMAN backup. ...database plus archivelog;
At the restore point I got the error of missig archivlogs :-(((

FCP searching for a file issue?

Okay, every time I open any project with FCP 6.0.2 it keeps looking for a file from a completely different project that I haven't opened or used for 8 months (this file has NO relation to the current project). What happens is a little dialog saying searching for the file, with a "Stop" button, then if you hit stop or it of course does not find the file, the dialog comes up asking to search or cancel. Well I hit cancel, then the project continues to open, then it comes up a bunch more times and I just keep hitting cancel until the project is completely open and I can then edit it. Any ideas short of a full FCP removal and reinstall to get rid of that? I've tried deleting caches, preferences, etc to no avail.

The message you are seeing is not from Final Cut; it is from QuickTime. Final Cut is asking QuickTime to validate the disk file for one of the project clips, and the clip appears damaged.
Note the name of the file that QuickTime (inside Final Cut) is complaining about. If you reimport that file, the problem will go away (most of the time).
If this is happening for 15 or 20 files, it's a major pain the neck, I know. I have never heard an explanation of what causes this. (Is it Final Cut munging the files? Is it QuickTime?)

Easy way to search for jsp file

is there a way to search for a file in jdeveloper. I have lots of jsp file. and I sometimes i know the full name or partial name of the jsp file, but not sure if there is a way to search for the file in JDev.

When you run the search all of the files that match your query will be listed in message log. Simply double click on the file in the message log to view it.

Hi I am currently using the below code to detect a file automaticaly in a thumbdrive. So currently I have to state the path directory to detect the particular file. Is there a way to search for the file in the thumbdrive using Java?

You'll need to recursively search through a top directory and all its subdirectories for all files. Here is a link how to do this.

You can search for all drives A through Z for the file (using something like new File("F:") and catching the exception if not found (and dont do anything with the exception). But exclude C and D drive since they are usually hard drives and take forever to search through. Also, you may want to use File.separator instead of '/" or '\' in your code since windowsXP uses one while Unix uses the other and you would want your code to be able to run on either operating system.
Are you building a web page with this? if so, it will not work since your search code would be running on the server and not on the client's machine. Even if you were able to run it on the client machine via his browser, you cant because of security reasons (end users dont want to give you access to thier drives). If its a web page, look into file upload html tag called <input type="file". This allows the end-user to navigate on his machine to where the file is and download it without you having to search for it.
If you writing an application instead of a web page, I think there is an applet you can use that will do the same thing as <input type="file".
Searching though a directory structure isn't good since it takes too long for users t wait.

Searching for a file in client backups - Window's Home Server 2011

I have great backups on WHS2011, but only need to restore a couple of files. I am looking for a file a non-standard program uses, and it is not in any of the normal places. I can restore the file if I can find it, but is there a way I can search

I want to know how can we search for the t-code used for a specefic output type in use?
I have a requirement where in i have a output type, i knwo teh prog name and the form name...
i know it is used in SD and billing but i am not able ot exactly pin point as to in which t-code to be used..so that i can check the output throught the T-code.

It is used for a Standard t-code i want to find that T-code. Through NACE the outputtype (which i already have) i can find teh prog name and the form name.
and through SPRO also its the same info...
i want to knwo for SD-> Billing->INvoice i can find the output type...i want to knwo what T-code needs to be run and on givign the data and running the out put type from the menu and choosing my OUTput type...and seeing the output in the print format.

Looking for a third party utility to replace a file's "modified Date" field

For video files, apparently the organizer displays the thumbnails with the date taken from the file's "modified date" field. For some wierd reason (which I'm discussing with Adobe CS) the organizer changed the date of all my videos in the "modified date" field, so now the chronology of all my video clips in the organizer went down the drain.
Is there a third party utility to replace the "modified date" field of a file with the original shot date? (which in W7 is shown in the "Date" field).
In other words: for every video file in my library, I want to take the date from the "Date" field and put it in the "Modified Date" field
