Know of any good Arm Bands and FM Transmitters for the Zen Mic

I'm thinking of buying a Micro and want to make sure I can get an arm band and transmitter. I notice on Creative's Micro page they list transmitters at the bottom but there is no link. What have you done to get these products?

<font size=>The FM Transmitter shown on the website is the Belkin Tunecast II. I own it, and it works great for me. I suggest rechargable AAA batteries though, because it uses the battery fast. That is not a problem if you are using it in the car though... it has the Car Adapter and it uses that for power.
As to the armband- there is not one mad specificly for the mico, but I have heard that there is one that do fit the micro pretty snugly.Message Edited by bberenbaum on 03-7-2005 02:02 AM

Arm strap for the Zen Mic

I'd like to take my Micro to the gym, but I need an arm strap because I'm afraid of bumping the unit with a weight if I were to clip it to my waist.

On the Creative support homepage I can find the software and firmware updates for the Zen Vision M 60 gb, however, there is nothing listed for the 30 gb unit. Where can I find the software and firmware updates (downloads) for the 30 gb unit's

I don't mind if its an all-in-one suite with anti-virus, I'm just less conceren about viruses so it's doesn't matter to me too much.

First, there's no software out there that can reliably detect all possible keyloggers. There are legit keyloggers that won't be detected by everything, for example. If you think that someone malicious has had access to your computer, either physical access or through a back door installed through some other method, then the only reliable response is to erase the hard drive and then reinstall the system and all applications from scratch.
In addition, the term "rootkit" (when used correctly) is a very specific kind of malware that is installed to give the hacker escalated root-level access to the computer. In modern single-user systems, this is not particularly meaningful, for a variety of reasons. Fearing rootkits and not more general malware is kind of like going to Africa and being on your guard against lions, but not against hyenas, hippos, elephants, leopards, poisonous snakes, etc.
What is the specific issue you're trying to solve? If it's just a general concern about protecting yourself against malware, see:

Are they getting any closer to releasing a new firmware for the Zen Tou

I mean so I wouldn't have to use stupid Mediasource to transfer music, and could just plug my Z. T. into any computer and transfer music. It seems to me that some bright consumer could write a program to do this, or is it impossible for this to happen for some reason?

I think its pretty bad that a company that made over $375 million in Q2 and reported sales of over 2 million mp3 players is putting such little investement into providing updates for existing (still on sale) products, mainly the Zen Touch and Zen Extras... They seem to think that only Zen micro users deserve Firmware updates despite the fact that a large number of us have bought and continue to buy other existing creative models! Surely with such high profit and demand they must be able to put more resources into updates for their players (mainly Firmware), or at worst give us a serious time frame as when to expect the updates (if i had known how long i would be waiting i might not have bought my Zen Touch in favour of a differnet player). I have always looked upon Creative as a very trustworthy company that deli'very high quality and high spec products. I never for a moment thought that the updates would be so few and far between! since the ipod has a couple of wack games..does the zen micro has any games to download since it didnt came with one..also are there any new extra features that can be downloaded.

There aren't any games on the Micro. Some people prefer it this way (to keep the player dedicated to its primary use) whereas others do miss things like this. The only way you can add new features is by upgrading the firmware, and the firmware downloads page will detail any new features with the download.

Photo Booth "effects" are commands that are built into OS X core functions, so all the effects available for Photo Booth are already in the app.

Do any wiereless fm gadgets even work for the Zen Mic

I tried a Belkin model in my car. That thing was god awful. Do any work well? My friend has an iPod that works great with the iPod gadget.
Additionally, is it possible to send the output of a Zen Micro to a stereo's audio inputs via split channel cable for play over a home system?

How are you creating the file, exactly?

I'm trying to take a 16 minute mini dv video and compress it for use on the web. I'm interested in any suggestions you may have on settings for the video and audio tracks. I've tried using Sorenson 3 (15 frames, key frames set to automatic, 320 x 240) for video and IMA 4:1 (mono) for audio. The resulting video looked great but the file size came in at about 255 Mb.

Thank you for the replies. Everyone was correct about the jack, interface, and phasing problems. I have been unplugging my motu audio interface and then using headphones at work. I have not changed any detailed audio output settings in logic. When I read that the jack might be a problem I tried switching headphones. This actually helped. I am using dre-beats headphones and they seem to be having issues with the mac/jack-(the phasing/panning problems. I can use these headphones with other devices but not the mac. I have to use ipod ear buds and the phasing seems fixed. Hopefully this information is helpful to someone else.
If anyone knows how to correct this issue please let me know its difficult to know what my final mixes are going to sound like and I have had to keep bouncing everything into i-tunes- sync to ipod and then listen in my car radio.

The only thing that I like about the ipod and itunes is the fade out of the current song and the fade in of the new song, which works well in all playing modes.

I'm not 'in the know', but my suspicion is that we are all done for the Zen Micro now. There aren't any bugs left in the firmware, and generally the Micro does all it was supposed to do. The market is moving away from the 5gig(ish) hard dri've players (being replaced by high capacity flash), which means the micro is running to the end of its life.
Thats not really a bad thing, the Micro is stable, and we have some new features (Audible) that we didn't have when purchased. I think that is about all we can hope for....

Options for when an iOS device gets locked because of forgotten passcode:
Restore (and reset passcode) on your device by connecting it to the last computer to which it was connected:
