Knowldge Management at its Best

Hi,
I know KM consists of Content Mangement and Search engine.
I would like to know how can we implement KM especially interms of Content Mangment and Search engine
A Practicle Scenario:
We have a customer with five regions, they have documents ( worddoc, spread sheets, bulletins etc). thinking a fresh implemetation which repository we can use to store documents, how to layout the folder structure, if i wouls like to show all the bulettins for particular week how can show.
1. On what basis we define the folder structure?
2. On what basis we define which doc has to go to whic folder?
3. Is there any rule to set authorizations to content?
4. Can we provide a message to all the employes saying a new bultin is published?
5. what are all the different kinds of document repositories available?
6. Is Content managment is just document storing or what are the different kinds of files we store (html and other web related)?
7.How can we enable search functionality?
8. Is there any best practise to implement KM?
Can you share your experiences and guideline on the above points it really helps me.
Thanks,
Murali

Hi,
Some points which may helps u
How can we enable search functionality?
goto default framework page - toll area -- open -- property editor -- Enable KM Search -- YES
if u want advanced search also  Enable KM Search Advanced - yes
and also u need to configure TREX with portal and to create index to search documents
what are all the different kinds of document repositories available?
WebDAV Repository – this will create web-folders on your client so you can upload multiple documents to your portal
File System Repository – this will point a Content Management folder to a mapped drive on the portal server’s file system
Simple Web Repository – this will upload the documents of a web site to your Content Management folder
Can we provide a message to all the employes saying a new bultin is published?
For these u can use recent notifications iview
Is there any rule to set authorizations to content?
it depends on ur requriment how to authorazations for end-users Eg: read or full access to folders
On what basis we define which doc has to go to whic folder?
U can upload any type of document to Documents folder or u can create separate folder for each type
On what basis we define the folder structure?
This depends on ur requriment

Krishna.

I am signed into itunes with my id and my iphone / ipad are also on this id but when i go in to manage devices its only showing the iphone. Also just up dated my ipad now its saying not charging when its hooked up to the computer?

If the problem persists, you'll probably have to make another apple id, it wont take off any games or music or apps or anything you've bought it will all stay there, i have two apple id's and i don't have a problem with anything.

  • Which project management software is best, which project management software is best

Which project management software is best for my macbook pro?

In order to give you a solid recommendation, we'd need to know what needs you have.
What type of project are you planning on managing?
    What size of team?
    Timeline?
    Extent?
What are some things you need to manage (emails, phone calls, stages, tasks, phases, etc)?
Without any of this, it's hard to give you a recommendation, as EVERYTHING will work on your MacBook Pro, especially if you have Windows dualbooted.
However, I can tell you that the best project management software I've used to date (and continue using) is JobNimbus. It's both CRM and project management software, very easy to use, and the pricing is way lower than others I've seen.
Give that a try (they have a 30-day trial) and try to reply back with more info so we can help you out a little bit better.

Congradulations Verizon Technical Assistance and Intenet Forum Support Team. Verizon's addage "our goal is to resolve your problem on the very first call" is commendable, but only if Verizon intends to really resolve issues on the first telephone call. As is the case for this 20 plus year service Veteran who is also a paraplegic, I got hand it to the support team to procrastinate so long as to intentionally exceed it's so-called 30 day period in which the support team now states that they are willing to finally replace a defective DroidX, but only with a Refirbished DroidX, not a New phone. After requiring multiple trips to local Verizon Stores, which resulted in this veteran sitting in a wheelchair for hours on end while store managers repeatedly tested the same phone, only to also repeatedly note the existence of the sane initial issues, this veteran was also directed to speak to a sundry of both Verizon & Motorola Techs... which in of itself resulted jn many tech telephone calls for help ... many of the calls lasting in excess of 3 or more hours each with one call over 7 Hour. (yes you read correctly over 7 hours. ALL who, by the way, all agree there is a significant problem, THAT THE EQUIPMENT needs to be replaced and this veteran who is a paraplegic with issues that include limitations with my fingers typing, will have to re-enter all contact data, because of illadvised technical assistance that corrupted both data on phone and gmail. Congradulations on a job that creates doubt in refurbished equipment and questions the morality of not exercising better judgement when dealing with an disabled person. By the way, this fast customer service has just exceeded nearly four months and three replacements which techs have all identified as Defective equipment. As in the past, the techs again indicate that the equipment is defective. But this time Verizon insists on replacing with a previously defective phone and is creating a real lack in confidence that Verizon has in its own issued DroidX inventory. Which, by the way Verizon has already drastically reduced the selling price of the DroidX. I'm really looking forward to spending days & hours rebuilding my data base without any consideration or accountability for the numerous missdirections from technical service that caused the data corruption in the first place. I got to hand it to the tech support teams, Procrastination at its Best! Lieutenant Commander, USNavy SEAL (retired)

I just put snow leopard 10.6.8 on my macbook pro and I was told that I could purchase Apature for photo management- now its says I need a different version.... is there an older version I could get? so frustrating.

The current version of Aperture requires 10.7.5 or later.
Upgrade Paths to Snow Leopard, Lion, and/or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard — Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service — this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion — System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) —
                 Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
    Are my applications compatible?

  • Virtual Rooms and Knowldge Management - Best Options

    Hi experts,
One of our partner companies have a requirement for creating different project rooms and sharing documents in these rooms.
They have documents with sizes up to 60 MB to share and they need to do the upload/ download through internet.
I would like to get few suggestions on the following queries:
    1. Which is the best repository to store these documents? separate file server or something else?
    2. How reliable is the knowledge management platform for uploading and downloading  files of these sizes?
    3. Is there any in-built way to retrieve these files using a mass download, in case required?
    4. How can we monitor the data download/ upload volumes in a specific period?
    5. Is there any global file viewer options available in KM? for viewing autocad and microstation files
Can any one give suggestions on these?
Thanks a lot for your help.
    Shobin

    HI
    1. Which is the best repository to store these documents? separate file server or something else?
u can store in CM repository because it supports all the cm functions like subscription etc
in general documents u upload through collaboration rooms is stored in collaboration repository which is of type cm repository.
    2. How reliable is the knowledge management platform for uploading and downloading files of these sizes?
if u r uploading documents frequently u can use portal drive option.
    4. How can we monitor the data download/ upload volumes in a specific period?
u can monitor using subscription functionality for the folder which will notify u incase of any event say downloading or uploading the file
    5. Is there any global file viewer options available in KM? for viewing autocad and microstation files
thers is nothing like that in km but u can make use of local editing option which will import the file to local desktop and allow modification to the file then u can check in the file later
in the mean process this particular file was locked for other user.

  • Memory management - what is best way?

    Hi All,
I was wondering what is the best way of doing certain things in SBO especially with regards to memory usage and proper memory management. If I have an edit text which I want to set a value in what would be the best way?
    Option 1:
            Dim oEdit As SAPbouiCOM.EditText
            oEdit = oForm.Items.Item("myItem").Specific
            oEdit.Value = "Hello"
            System.Runtime.InteropServices.Marshal.ReleaseComObject(oEdit)
    Option 2:
            oForm.Items.Item("myItem").Specific.Value = "Hello"
In the first option I declare a variable, set its value and free it. In the second option I just set the value without creating an instance of the object. Does the second option use the same amount of memory as the first (because it also refers to the same object) and it doesn't free it, or what is best?
I have tried to test it, but couldn't get a definate answer.
    Your input is appreciated!
    Adele

option 1 is to much of a hassle.  You should release the objects only when your using business objects, specially in row records in matrixes and when using recordsets.  Specially recordsets.

  • Im trying to install photoshop but the application manager says its up to date. What does it mean?

Ive just bought a year subscription to creative cloud so that I could use photoshop for editing. When I try to down load the software it says its up to date but there is currently no photoshop on my computer.
I did use the free trial some time ago but I since removed it. How do I reinstall photoshop?

Mac or Win? How did you remove the previously installed Photoshop trial? Did you use the uninstaller, or did you just drag it to Trash?
The Application Manager finds signs that Ps is already installed on your machine. Do you have any other Adobe creative software installed as well?
I think that it might be best to remove all traces of and then attempt a fresh reinstall. Use http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html to clean up your system and reinstal the software.

  • For the average person what really is the point of the activity monitor app when all you really want to know is whether your mac is running at its best?

I have had my imac for nearly 18 months now,
It's okay, is the best I can say about it.
    It cost me around £800+
So recently (and foolishly!) I downloaded OS Mavericks when I was actually looking for a freebie word processor programme (I got Bean because it's simple like me.)
Now the point of all this is that Mavericks has new features like a redesigned Safari (But I ain't noticed any difference yet) and Imaps (Huh!) and Ibooks and Imovie or something.
So when you are oldish like me, you really don't want people to keep changing and introducing new stuff (most of which is pointless anyway) all the time; because it takes us old ***** a while to get used to the last "improvement."
So you try and get rid of all these new apps that you don't want and didn't ask for anyway,
and then you find out you can't, because they're an integral part of the new OS.
    Brilliant!
Then you find that Mail has to redo itself and this thing no longer works properly etc. and you start wishing you hadn't got up that morning...
So you try and get it all back the way it was..
    And you can't.
Because you don't have an external hard drive to use the Time machine back up facility.
So you get in touch with Apple Support and it's now nearly bedtime, but at least you feel like you might be gettin' somewhere.
You talk to the supportguy and suddenly you can't remember what the problem is and what your name is, and you're thinking you might as well order in a pizza seein' as you've drunk the last of the gin..."
Anyway the guy manages to keep his temper and you get some degree of order restored but the machine still seems "jumpy" so someone says to you
"Check out the Activity Monitor! That'll tell you if something's not working right."
So you do, but it doesn't.
Just a bunch of numbers and CPU stuff and User Idiot Input etc.
All you really want is some little box to pop up and say,
"Hey! yyyou've really ssscrewed things upppp-p here, old mmmmman!!. This programme is no longer functioning properly, that thing appears to frozen, and you just wiped half your saved photos of Aunt Jessie's 94th birthday celebration (the one's where she had her eyes open)..
Press here for a full maintenance overview and repair menu.."
By this time you are on the floor, your leg's got cramp and you really really need a pee.
But there ain't no maintenance programme, just an activity monitor app you can't make any sense out of, so you yank the **** power cord out of the socket and go to bed..
    So you try and

DVD-R media that is single layer has 4.3 GB formatted capacity.
DVD+R DL media has 7.8 GB formatted capacity.
DVD-R double sided has 4.3 GB on each side.

  • Version Management for classes ; Best way to restore a class and methods

I have a question about the best way to actually restore a class to its previous version.
There is a class that contains about 60 to 80 methods. Now the task it to revert the class back to some previous state.
The desired versions of the class are spread across several transport - so there is no single transport that holds all the right versions.
What is the best and easiest way to proceed from here?
Do we have to revert back each method individually? Or is there a better method?
The desired version are in a another system - having a transport complied in that system does not to seem an option here.
Any tip? Is there any aux. report etc. that might help out?
    Thanks for your input,
    C.N

Excellent answer - of which I was afraid of. Maybe I can press the matter and get them to initiate a transport of copies from the target system to the source system - which indeed would be the best solution.
But just imagine it is done - the well needed fix applied - what is the best way to revert back to the new version in the source system?
What would the transport of copies do to the transport history?
There seems to be just the manual way...or is it doable to store the current state of the class in a transport having it released but not imported into any other system?
After the fix is applied can that transport be imported back to restore the current version (for which the fix needs to be applied again of course...)
Thanks for you thoughts and input

  • OWB Change Management/Version Control Best Practice

    Hi
I am about to start developing a data warehouse using OWB 10g R2, and I've been doing quite a lot of research into the various deployment/change management/version control techniques that can be used, but am still unsure which is the best to use.
We will have 2-3 developers working on the project, and will be deploying from Development, to Test, to Production (each will have a separate repository). We want to be able to easily identify changes made between 1 release and the next to have a greater degree of control and awareness of what goes into each release. We also wish to use a source control system to track changes (we'll probably use SVN, but I don't think that the actual SCS tool makes a big difference to our decision at this point).
The options available (that I'm aware of), are:
    1. Full MDL export/import.
    2. Snapshot MDL export/import.
    3. Manual coding of everything using OMB Plus.
I am loath to use the full MDL export/import functionality since it will be difficult, if not impossible, to identify easily the changes made between 1 release and the next.
The snapshot MDL export/import functionality is a little better at comparing releases, but it's still difficult to see exactly what has changed between 1 version and the next - particularly when a change to a transformation has been made. It also doesn't cope that well with tracking individually made changes to different components of the model.
The manual coding using OMB Plus seems like the best option at the moment, though I keep thinking "What's the point of using a GUI tool, if I'm just going to code everything in scripts anyway?".
I know that you can create OMB Plus code generation scripts to create your 'creation' scripts, but the code generation of the Alteration scripts seems that it would be more complicated than just writing the Alteration scripts manually.
Any thoughts anyone out there has would be much appreciated.
    Thanks
    Liffey

Well, you can also do per-object MDL exports and then manage those in your version control system. With a proper directory structure it would be fairly simple to code an OMB+ Script that scans a release directory tree and imports the objects one by one. I have done this before, although if you are using OWB as the primary metadata location for database objects then you have to come up with some way to manage object dependency order issues.
The nice thing about this sort of system is that a patch can be easily shipped with only those objects that need to be updated.
And if you force developers to put object-level MDL into your version control system then your system should also have pretty reporting on what objects were changed for a release and why.
At my current job we do full exports of the project MDL and have a deployment script that drops the pre-existing deployed version of the project before importing and deploying the new version, which also works quite well - although as you note the tracking of what has changed in a release then needs to be carefully managed elsewhere. But we don't deploy any of our physical database objects through OWB. Those are deployed from Designer, and our patch script applies all physical changes first before we replace the mappings from the OWB project. We don't even bother synching the project metadata for tables / views / etc. at deployment. If the OWB project's metadata for database objects is not in sync with Designer, then we wind up with deployment errors. But on the whole it works pretty well.

  • Spyware on ie11: The weDownload Manager and its wiles.

    Greetings all,
This is my first question on Microsoft forums, so feel free to offer suggestions to me.
I recently reinstalled Windows 7 after a long and fruitless relationship with Ubuntu.  As I began solving small problems such as downloading the correct Wireless Lan Drivers manually from Toshiba's website (My laptop is a Toshiba), I also began to look
    seriously at internet security.
That being said, I did not find Microsoft Security Essentials (precursor of Windows Defender) until yesterday, so there was a small window of opportunity for my computer to collect spyware/malware from the vast internet.  Now, I have discovered on my
computer the "weDownload Manager" a small Internet Explorer 11 add-on which persists, despite my best efforts.  Perhaps my understanding of how to remove these things is a bit fuzzy, but let's go over what I did:
    1. Uninstall a program using Control Panel.
    2. Check IE11 to see if program has been removed.
    3. Still there, but unable to disable, i.e. it runs in the background.
    4. I have determined that removal of this malware is beyond my capabilities save a fresh install of Windows 7. I am clueless as to how I can get rid of it.

    It is spyware:

    Hello,
I'd ask in the Virus and Malware forum on Microsoft Community.
    Or, the

  • Where does Network Manager get its "secrets?"

I am experimenting with PEAP authentication on a wireless network via Network Manager, and in the NM logs (journalctl -u NetworkManager), I keep seeing a line like this one:
Sep 11 10:56:26 anchor NetworkManager[1300]: <info> Activation (wlp2s0/wireless): connection 'foo' has security, and secrets exist. No new secrets needed.
In this case, I have mangled the network's settings in a way where it shouldn't be able to connect, and to the best of my knowledge, there are cached "secrets" that is still allowing NM to connect to the network.  I would like to manage these secrets somehow, or flush them at the very least.  How would I go about this?

ok, worked on it a little bit more... the only thing left was an entry in the library file, when you opened the xml file in safari you could find the entry. I didn't dare playing around with the file itself, but found a script called: "super remove dead tracks" on this website, which does the trick: http://dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/scripts01.php?page=1#removedeadsuper
it worked great, nothing is showing up in front row any.
