Knowldge management - Repository Framework- Repository manager- Repositor

Dear all,
We have a requirement to store different kinds of documents could you please explain Wha is Repository Framework->Repository manager-> Repository
i have seen WebDV, Lotus notes, File system, Webrepository for above scenario which repsoitory  can use what is CM repository manager how can use Persistance modes DB, DBFS, FSDB modes
can some one explain about how to integrate between a repository to repository manager and repository framework for above scenario.
i  am bit confused about all these terms
Experts please explain these terms with practical scenario
Thanks in advance, helpfull answers will get maximum points
Thanks in Advance,
Ashok

Hi
Repository framework:
Knowledge Management capabilities provides a central, role-specific point of entry to unstructured information from various data sources. This unstructured information can exist in different formats such as text documents, presentations, or HTML files. Workers in an organization can access information from different source such as file servers, their intranet, or the World Wide Web.
The Repository framework(RF) integrates these data sources and provides access to the information contained in them through the portal.

REpository managers:
To integrate differnt type data source we need repository managers .
e.g.
we can configure internal repository like Content management repository managers:(CM)
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/284
We can also configure external repository like file repository, lous notes repository etc.
File repository maanger:
By cofiguring file reposisitory we can access outside file systems through Knowledge management.
We can use diffrent repository managers in the configuration like W2KSecurityManager
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/thread?threadID=560624&tstart=525
The configuration for all the repository managers are provided by the SAP library.

This will be sufficient to clarify your doubt. If you want any help let me know.

  • Document Management Repositories

    First a little background:
We have recently purchased Oracle Workflow (Standalone)for use in a Content Management application, along with the Internet File system, and Oias. The application is intended to be a moderately simple (Create), Edit, Review, Approve, Publish workflow, where different document classes have a slightly different path.
I noticed on the demo pages the Document Review demo, but unfortunately it does not appear to work, as there are no "Document Management Repositories" created.
    Now to the questions:
Is is possible to configure Oracle Internet File System as a document repository to get this demo to work? If so, is there documentation to inform us how to go about it?
If not, is there another product in the Oracle suite that we can use, or more information about what Document Management Repositories are/will be supported?
Our application needs to be in production by March (with production software). If I can get the demo to work, I would like to proceed along with a customisation of the demo technology - how dangerous an approach is that, noting that the manual states that any reference to Document Management Repos are "for reference only".
If this is not an approach that is viable, I assume I will continue down the path of using PL/SQL and java for integration with Internet file system, and doing the coding for the activities manually.
thanks for any help on this - my aim this week is to get the Document Review demo working if at all possible....
    keep smiling
    Brigette

    Hello,
The workflow demo is to provide a simple, yet common approval processes involved in any document management system. Oracle Workflow itself does not include any document management repositories. You can use any document management system and use Oracle Workflow to manage the processes involved when handling different documents.
The documents sent for approval in the demo are sent as attachments to the notification. You can also include hyperlink to documents stored and any document management system including iFS. In fact, we are already integrated with iFS.
For correct versions of iFS/CMSDK which has workflow pre-integrated, please contact the iFS folks.
    Cheers,
    Raja

  • Knowldge Management at its Best

    Hi,
I know KM consists of Content Mangement and Search engine.
I would like to know how can we implement KM especially interms of Content Mangment and Search engine
    A Practicle Scenario:
We have a customer with five regions, they have documents ( worddoc, spread sheets, bulletins etc). thinking a fresh implemetation which repository we can use to store documents, how to layout the folder structure, if i wouls like to show all the bulettins for particular week how can show.
    1. On what basis we define the folder structure?
    2. On what basis we define which doc has to go to whic folder?
    3. Is there any rule to set authorizations to content?
    4. Can we provide a message to all the employes saying a new bultin is published?
    5. what are all the different kinds of document repositories available?
    6. Is Content managment is just document storing or what are the different kinds of files we store (html and other web related)?
7.How can we enable search functionality?
    8. Is there any best practise to implement KM?
Can you share your experiences and guideline on the above points it really helps me.
    Thanks,
    Murali

    Hi,
Some points which may helps u
How can we enable search functionality?
goto default framework page - toll area -- open -- property editor -- Enable KM Search -- YES
if u want advanced search also  Enable KM Search Advanced - yes
and also u need to configure TREX with portal and to create index to search documents
what are all the different kinds of document repositories available?
WebDAV Repository – this will create web-folders on your client so you can upload multiple documents to your portal
File System Repository – this will point a Content Management folder to a mapped drive on the portal server’s file system
Simple Web Repository – this will upload the documents of a web site to your Content Management folder
Can we provide a message to all the employes saying a new bultin is published?
For these u can use recent notifications iview
Is there any rule to set authorizations to content?
it depends on ur requriment how to authorazations for end-users Eg: read or full access to folders
On what basis we define which doc has to go to whic folder?
U can upload any type of document to Documents folder or u can create separate folder for each type
On what basis we define the folder structure?
    This depends on ur requriment

  • Virtual Rooms and Knowldge Management - Best Options

    Hi experts,
One of our partner companies have a requirement for creating different project rooms and sharing documents in these rooms.
They have documents with sizes up to 60 MB to share and they need to do the upload/ download through internet.
I would like to get few suggestions on the following queries:
    1. Which is the best repository to store these documents? separate file server or something else?
    2. How reliable is the knowledge management platform for uploading and downloading  files of these sizes?
    3. Is there any in-built way to retrieve these files using a mass download, in case required?
    4. How can we monitor the data download/ upload volumes in a specific period?
    5. Is there any global file viewer options available in KM? for viewing autocad and microstation files
Can any one give suggestions on these?
Thanks a lot for your help.
    Shobin

    HI
    1. Which is the best repository to store these documents? separate file server or something else?
u can store in CM repository because it supports all the cm functions like subscription etc
in general documents u upload through collaboration rooms is stored in collaboration repository which is of type cm repository.
    2. How reliable is the knowledge management platform for uploading and downloading files of these sizes?
if u r uploading documents frequently u can use portal drive option.
    4. How can we monitor the data download/ upload volumes in a specific period?
u can monitor using subscription functionality for the folder which will notify u incase of any event say downloading or uploading the file
    5. Is there any global file viewer options available in KM? for viewing autocad and microstation files
thers is nothing like that in km but u can make use of local editing option which will import the file to local desktop and allow modification to the file then u can check in the file later
in the mean process this particular file was locked for other user.

  • Content management repository integration issues

We are facing some major limitations with our content management repositories (we are currently
using Documentum, Lotus and few others.. ) -- especially integrating these various repositories
and share the information throughout the enterprise.
We are looking into Livelink from Opentext as a possible solution,
and are attending the upcoming webinar on the topic
    http://www.opentext.com/events/event.asp?id=34947#register
but has anyone used the product , especially in conjunction with Oracle portal product?
    thanks,

Caused by: java.sql.SQLException: [FMWGEN][SQLServer JDBC Driver][SQLServer]CREATE TABLE permission denied in database 'master'.
I suppose you don't wish to create ODI repository in master database, this master database is used by MS SQLServer itself, and it's very critical in the whole SQLServer instance.
you should use a separate database for ODI, you can use sa to own this database, but please add ";datbaseName=<your ODI database>" in the JDBC URL, then it won't try to find master database.
If you like we suggest you use RCU to create repository.

    Hi,
Can you please provie the version of Openscript.
I think you are getting error because script path is not added.
You can do this from menu "Tools --> Manage Repositories.." then can select option "Add" and associate the script path.
I have attached screenshot for your reference.

Do you know what is wrong? Do you have any good documentation/info on how to setup/add new Repository?

    Hello Lynn,
I recommend to post this query to the [Enterprise Information Management|Data Services and Data Quality; forum.
This forum is dedicated to topics related to Data Integration (Data Integrator, Data Federator, Text Analysis for Data Integrator, Rapid Marts, and Integration for PeopleSoft Enterprise), Data Quality (Data Quality and Data Insight), and Metadata Management.
It is monitored by qualified technicians and you will get a faster response there.
Also, all Enterprise Information Management queries remain in one place and thus can be easily searched in one place.

  • BUG: External Subversion Repository, Can only connect to one URL unless....

Jdeveloper 11.1.1.6 and Jdevevloper 11.2.2 versions.
To See video about this "bug" please see http://youtu.be/Dp0laSTnSo4 (I made the video after writing this).
Use-case: I work on four or five different applications and need distinct repositories for each. I am able to create distinct repositories using the Jdeveloper "create Local Repository" built-in functionality, and then when I "Version Application" I see all the repositories I have created.
HOWEVER Using an External SVN as described in http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/articles/adf/part1-090228.html
I have created two repositories: app1 and app2
When I try to "version [an] Application" I can add only one URL of an external SVN, and am not able to add any others.
If I look at the repositories.xml file as found in the system directory, I see the following:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?>
    <svn-repositories xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/jdeveloper/1013/svn/repositories">
    <svn-repository>
    <url>https://stuart-pc:8080/svn/App1</url>
    <alias>App1</alias>
    <user-name>hr</user-name>
    <password>Bb8W5J9eNtvA1jlqkYoTNWA=</password>
    </svn-repository>
    </svn-repositories>
If I hack this file and add the extra lines below (with jdeveloper closed), I am able to version an application to the "App2" repository.
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?>
    <svn-repositories xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/jdeveloper/1013/svn/repositories">
    <svn-repository>
    <url>https://stuart-pc:8080/svn/App1</url>
    <alias>App1</alias>
    <user-name>hr</user-name>
    <password>Bb8W5J9eNtvA1jlqkYoTNWA=</password>
    </svn-repository>
    *<svn-repository>*
    *<url>https://stuart-pc:8080/svn/App2</url>*
    *<alias>App2</alias>*
    *<user-name>hr</user-name>*
    *<password>Bb8W5J9eNtvA1jlqkYoTNWA=</password>*
    *</svn-repository>*
    </svn-repositories>
I think this is a bug. Since you can create multiple "local" repositories, you should also be able to this with an external repositories. Also, one should be able to add as many external URLs as necessary in the Jdeveloper GUI, since we may work on multiple applications throughout the course of a day.
    Thank you,
    Stuart

    Frank,
Thank you. Actually, I wasn't completely sure it was a bug, but it seemed that if you could do it using the "Create Local Repository" the functionality ought to be there for the external Subversion.
Just curious, would you know what the Oracle Fusion Developers use for their Repository? might they also use Maven? Hudson?
    I always appreciate your help!

  • Development or Deployment Configuration Management

    Forte Users:
I have been using Forte for awhile and have experienced various levels
of pleasure and pain with regard to configuration management. I have
been witness to various strategies for keeping things clean and smooth.
I was at Forte Forum to hear talk and witness some products to help
address issue, but still have only a foggy notion about how to do things
    in the here and now.
My request is to gather from some outside chatter and see what other
people are doing. How are people safely managing repositories and
classes in the development environment? Once deployed? Is there a daily
or weekly practice or checklist that addesses configuration issues? Are
    people putting together automated processes?
We are actually working to integrate with PVCS today to take care of
some things, but I am really interested in knowing what is working out
there without special tools. Please reply with any insight that may be
    shared.
    Thanks in advance.

**Any opinions you might see up above are surely mine and USAA has
    nothing to do with them.**

don't underestimate the need for cm. someone should find the time to
set the ground rules now. otherwise it's going to be a huge mess later
on. here are some things to consider:
o determine your application's package structure.
o determine your development environment's directory structure (e.g.
    classes in ~/apps/classes, source in ~/apps/src ...).
o take the time to stub-out the interfaces between the different
layers of the application and your ejbs. this is really important if
you've vertically separated programming tasks and will allow each team
to write their stuff without regard to other teams. as each team
completes their slice they should fit together seamlessly as long as
the interface hasn't changed. this will take some time up-front, but
    it's definitely worth it.
o if you really need to share files (veps...) setup a shared dir or
something. if you're going to share these types of files, the second
    point is critical.

I am not quite sure what either of you are after, but if you hit the "Documentation" link on OTN you will find the documentation, such as the above list, for almost all of Oracle products. Most are available online in HTML format or PDF and some have a part number so that they can be ordered.

    Hi Knowldge Management Guru's,
I am using default KM content management repository no external repository i have folders and sub folders and documents ( word, html, pdf, excel).I have enabled search button in tool area.
What are the prerequisites to search documents in Content management /documents folder
    1. Do we need TREX is it must and mandatory for searching
Does enterprise portal provide basic/default search functionality without integrating TREX or external/third party search engines.
    Please provide your inputs
Helpfull answers will get "Max" points

    Hi
if u r looking to search unstructred document ( km document) i dont think u have any other option other than using TREX. Check this link

If u r looking to search portal content then u dont need TREX.

  • Windows File Sharing  Permission/Access Issues

I am attempting to apply permissions on a Windows share that is on a server different than the portal.
The system is mounted and the repository is working.  But just for myself, the administrator.  I only have rights as a base user, that's it.  All other users are getting an access denied error.  On the log defaulttrace.trc the error is that the portal can't get the system share from the system factory.  The error following that is that the portal failed to get the mapping data for the user.  That is what I would expect if the user could not "see" the share system.
My question is why?  The user has read access to that system.  Even at owner, the user still can not use it.  I have the Iview set up as a KM navigational iview.  The only way I have been able to get users to see information on the share is via system pricipals but, that overides Windows security and they see EVERYTHING.
Has anyone else ran into my situation?  I want to a repository based on a Windows share that gives the users rights based on their Windows ID.

I think I have figured it out. As usual first by chance, and then by some clever thinking....
I remebered that I had an access problem some months ago, and that the solution was to grant access to some parts of the repositories to the users in question.
So I gave the everyone group read permission on the whole KM repository ! Quite gutsy, but we are talking development environment here.
And hey presto, the problem is solved !
Then I remebered reading something about this.
Inside my notes from some months back I found a reference to SAP Note 599425 - "Permission for knowledge management repositories".
Why I forgot this I do not know, but this is crucial for correct operations.
In addition it is necessary to add read rights to everyone to other part of the repositories if you create system content in your own structures.
I had a system definition in my own structure without correct rights, and this definition were off limits for the users, resulting in a inaccessible file system repository.
    hope this helps,
...if you haven't solved it allready.
    regards
    Alexander

  • Problems while migrating ODI code from 1 env to other

    Hi,
I had some ODI code in Env1 i moved it to Env2 and did some new development(created new models, packages etc) over there and then tried to migrate it into Env3.What i found that the exports for new development done at Env2 got imported easily in Env3 however, the exports of the code(of Env1) taken from Env2 are giving error ODI-10018: The repository {0} is not coherent between the current repository and the import file.
This has put me in lot of trouble is there any way to resolve this.

Well. This problem is not new and not unusual.
What are the repository IDs for Env 1, Env 2 and Env 3 ?
I suspect that Env 1 ID and Env 3 ID are same.
There is an option in ODI 11g to renumber the repository IDs. In Topology Manager -> Repositories and then select and right click.
You can select Env 2 and select an unused repository number and renumber your repository. Then the objects wilil be easily imported into Env 3.
