Apple has apparently decided to remove the "Knowledge Archive" from it's "Knowledge Base". I believe this is a huge judgement error as the preponderance of this old information is extremely valuable to us old product fanatics.
If you agree, please bombard Apple with any method of correspondence you can muster and lets see if we can get Apple to reinstate this wonderful resource.
Power to the Apple People. What do you Say?
The original "Knowledge Archive" URL is: <karchive.info.apple.com>

Denis & Jim:
Go to: <http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=43080> for the Index. I have discovered the only way into the "Knowledge Archive", albiet by the back door, is to type in the URL: <http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=> and, starting with the number "1" AFTER THE "=" SIGN, and incrementing upward from there (2, 3, 4, ...), you get in. Denis said (I believe) he found 63 articles of old. Well, If you do my method, you find many THOUSANDS of articles on the really ancient hardware, software and support material. This would occupy many CDs, if not DVDs.
Denis points out that he gets some older info from the Developer site. This is true, however you will not find info much earlier than the Quadra line or system 7.5.3 for a rough example (off the top of my head.) Apple's early stuff is the Apple II line and the Lisa and Mac XL (for hardware) and system 4.2 and many arcane software programs. This is what I've been referencing all along and seems to be only available through my manual, incremental search as outlined above.
I am currently downloading (compiling) all of the articles starting with article #1 (please note there are gaps in the numbering sequence (page not found)) and am up to article 900 and the date on these articles is still hovering around 1984/1985. It is amazing what I'm finding.
Posts to this subject don't get at the main thrust of my subject, which is to say, in order to reference documentation for the Apple products of OLD (really OLD), one must get in through the manual method outlined above. I'm not referring to the stuff from the 1990's.
Try the "method" for yourself and you will see what I mean.
Happy Hunting, surroundguy

  • Incoming mail going to archive folder instead of inbox

after registering my macbook pro 2.4ghz core 2 duo running mavericks 10.9.1 for the app "messages", i've noticed emails addressed to my .mac account no longer go to my inbox on this computer, they land in the "archive" folder.
any idea what happened and how i can fix this?
    thanks in advance.

Your slow computer could be caused by a number of problems such as memory, hardware, or software issues. It isn't related to the problem you had with Mail.
First, I suggest you open Disk Utility and repair permissions on your boot volume. Then verify if the hard drive is OK, or does it show problems.
Restart the computer and see if you still have problems.
If so, I would just advise you to post a new discussion describing this problem so others with better knowledge could help you to figure out the problem.
Search google or these discussions on Slow Computer with Yosemite. There are many discussions on this already. You might also look into downloading EtreCheck and providing that information in your post. It will gather information from your computer to allow others to look and analyze what you have that could be causing issues.

  • "Archive" and "View" buttons don't work after folio update

    Hi all,
I have a subscription to the professional edition and I have built a custom viewer app for Android. I have built about 10 folios and at first download all is ok, the folios are displayed without problems and the app works fine except for one issue: "Archive" button don't work, when I tap on it, near folio cover, nothing happens, the folio does not disappear from folios list.
But the serious problem occurs when I perform a folio update from Folio Producer ('Update content' from adobe dashboard DPS): both "Archive" and "View" buttons stop working, nothig happens when I tap tap on them and I am forced to uninstall and reinstall the application on tablet (.apk file) to see folio changes in my custom viewer.
This is very annoying as well as time expensive.
Tablet is Samsun Galaxy Tab SII with Android 3.2.
    Any help is appreciated.

To the best of my knowledge, the SII is a smartphone and not a tablet device, and the official claim is (correct me if I'm wrong) that DPS on Android is corrently tablet only.
Anyway, it seems strange to me so checked and found out that even though the DPS apps are not available when you search for them in the Play Market of a smartphone you can still force load them to the phone and run them.
I've done it on both a Samsung SIII running Android 4.0.4 and a Samsung GT-I9070 running Android 2.3.6 (I currently don't have a device running Android 3.2)
The interface is so small that it's hardly possible to use it, but it works.

  • A workflow for archiving and de-archiving HD clips

A few months ago I put out a query on the best workflow to use for archiving HD footage whilst maintaining the flexibility of importing to iMovie and doing some editing at a later date. I don't have a super fast mac (yet) so editing the HD in iMovie can be a bit of a pain. Thanks to Appleman1958 for some top tips. I thought I'd share my workflow with you.
Once I have some clips on the camcorder I want to archive the original footage without having to go through iMovie everytime (which decompresses the clip files to HUGE sizes!). But I also want to be able to quickly de-archive some footage and make a simple DVD or make a movie on the (upgraded!) computer.
    1) I connect the camera to the mac via USB. I have turned off the iMovie Auto-open function. The camera appears as a mounted drive on the desktop.
    2) I open Toast 9. I set it up to make a "Mac Only" Data disc. I open the camcorder drive and locate the AVCHD folder. I drag the AVCHD folder into the Toast 9 window.
    3) I then tell Toast 9 to make a Disc Image as opposed to a real disc. I name it appropriately and save it to a hard drive. This is step one of the archiving. I now have a digital copy of the original camcorder clips in their original format (not Mb hungry .mov)
    4) After a while, when I have a bunch of disc image files, from different sessions, I tranfer them all onto a real DVD Data Disc. This now gives me a hard copy of the original camcorder files which I can store securely away from thunderstorms and what not.
If I decide to make a simple DVD from any old footage I do the following:
    1) I connect the camcorder (with no clips on it) to the mac.
    2) I insert a DVD Data Disc with archived disc images on it, or I navigate to a disc image file on a hard drive.
    3) I mount the selected disc image on the desktop using Toast 9 (gives you the option in a right click context menu in Finder). This allows me to see the AVCHD folder in the disc image.
    4) I move the AVCHD folder onto the camcorder, replacing the one that was already there. If I was to open iMovie at this point it would read the old clips off the camcorder.
    5) I disconnect the camcorder that now has the old clips on it. When I turn it on it says it needs to rebuild the image database (guess it prefers to make clips rather than have them thrust upon it!). I say OK and it thinks for a few seconds. Next thing - presto! The old archived video clips play like I just shot them.
    6) I then hook up the camcorder to my Sony VRD-MC5 DirectDVD. I can then make a one-touch DVD of some or all of the clips for use in my BlueRay player.
At any time I can mount a disc image on the desktop and open iMovie. I can then import all/some of the clips from the mounted disc image (whcih is just an AVCHD folder) and go about making my movie.
But I'm usually happy with just being able to make a simple DVD for viewing with family/friends. Note that for all of this to work as well as it does I needed to buy Toast, a Blueray player and the Sony DirectDVD. But it was worth it as I can now easily archive all my footage safe in the knowledge that it is all readily transferable into iMovie or onto a playable DVD at any time.
To anyone else out there struggling to get to grips with their new HD AVCHD camcorder I hope this has been of some use. Again, thanks to Appleman for helping me out. There is no doubt an even easier process that I am unaware of but so far this is working out well for me. My original post is at: http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=7118597#7118597

    Thanks for posting your experience.
If you move the entire contents of your camera instead of just the AVCHD folder, you should be able to mount your disk image and import directly from there, without having to plug in your camera and transfer it back there. I haven't tried this in Toast, but it should work. It works well in disk utility.
Also, just FYI since you have all the tools, I have found that if I create a playable BluRay DVD using a standard DVD using Toast, I can insert the DVD in my Mac, and it is recognized as a camera. I can then import the edited movie back into imovie.

  • FTP Remote Archive Filename

    Hi,
I have built an SOA composite application to FTP files from destination A to B.
I now need to archive the files in an 'Archive' directory on the remote server I am retrieving the files from (destination A).
I have got this to workin using the JCA property:
    <property name="UseRemoteArchive" value="true"/>
The only problem is that the filename does not stay as it was, and the file that ends up in the 'Archive' directory, and is now proceeded by a long string and date.
i.e the original file looks like: File_test.zip
    File in Archive: File_test.zip_MjtpGjgGRkfe5j6NVBQgORwsHRa628nysAIMbTeIYqo=_20120423_163128_0485
Is there anyway to control the name of the file being archived?
    Any input appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Jamie

    Hi Jamie,
There isn't much customization possible on the archive file naming. However, I've put my knowledge in this post. See if it helps.

  • Searching Archive for Older Mac 10.4 (non Intel) Computer Lost Flash Player

    Hello Forum Users!
I'm sorry to bother you, but checked recent posts and knowledge base and cannot seem to find my problem listed.
Problem starts and ends with older Mac operating system (10.4.11, Yes, I am still using Tiger and my G4 is said not to be acceptable to Leopard so its time for new computer..but until then)....
I have only a 60 GB HD, and it was getting "full" so suggestion I received and someone helped me do it, was to eliminate all old "downloads" I was saving.
Fine....except that while I was cleaning up the older programs I "don't use"  to get more room on the Hard Drive (I had less than 10 GB free and Apples don't like that on their Journal Drives), I accidentally "erased" (then threw out as trash to get room) the  Adobe Flash Player.  Not a problem!  But now of course I remember that is "why" keep normally all "downloads" as files in case I do that....so no older download to use as my own archive.
Ok, not a problem!  Go to Adobe and download a new Flash Player (Of course I can't use 10.3 and all the others you keep referring to, as I don't have an "Intel" chip operating computer, so 10.4 is supported by newer Flash Players but only those using an Intel chip which my computer doesn't have.  (Lap top else I'd try all types of modificactions to work around the problem).
Sorry too many details, but rather let you know now than questions back and forth.
The final irony is that I know of Adobe's Archives and went "back in time" downloading and testing out various Flash Players (sorry, didn't pay attention so I did not ever have marked down which version of older Adobe worked with my 10.4.11).
So I tried all the 10.2's   10.0's  9's (even the developer ones)  I hit the 8's and realized that maybe I'm not doing something right as I do think if you are using 10.3 now, that 8 versions should have been usable according to the June 2010 system requirement lists.
For downloading I select Mac  "other"  as  my operating system since the current specificaitons for downloading list 10.4 to 10.6 as  "Intel" based.
    Did I leave anything out?
I really need Adobe Flash Player as most of the web sites are just refusing to display anything but words for me, so just boring now on web without access to all the content that Flash Player provides.  (no more funny You tube videos either of course!).
Can anyone help me with my Adobe problem?
    Thanks!

To both of my helpers.....Success! (Skip to end if you don't want to read the details).
Sorry for the delay in responding to all of your suggestions!
eidnolb:  Here is what I found on the page with red "f" this time. But using Safari, the whole top of the page says "Flash" meaning that the red "F" is part of a Flash item that is not loading in Safari, but does load in my other Browser, Sea Monkey.
Using Safari I right clicked (was on wrong page sorry) and got the "ClicktoFlash---Settings" settings
I do not have regular "settings" anymore on my list just:   Load Flash/Load all on this page/add www.Adobe.com to whitelist/ClicktoFlash Settings.
And in the Click to Flash Settings there is no box to uncheck for hardware acceleration. Only things like Options/sIFR Text Updates Uninstall (of course) version 1.5.5 if that matters).
I set up my account in Adobe using Sea Monkey which I do when Safari is fully being used for other purposes that day, so that explains why I got confused sometimes, the Flash Content in Sea Monkey "works" but the same page loaded in Safari does not work.  I do have Firefox, but that has too many saved pages that have not been gone over to "unsave" them when I'm done either printing the contnet or saving the content or bookmarking it, so that is quite unusuable right now so I don't know if any of the flash is working or not on Firefox (and I don't have Chrome loaded in yet....maybe I read it was Leopard only? I forget why it is not
    another choice for me).
Willener pat's  (finally used a mirror!)  suggestion I try the FP uninstaller again, I made sure it was done using Safari (Sea Monkey does not like it)....and despite it appearing for the higher levels of Mac OSX I tried it....
Its getting complicated. I can read the instructions how to do it in Sea Monkey, but Sea Monkey does not like the file (does not know what to do with it and offers my entire "Mac" database of applications i.e. word, etc to use it (very bad).  Safari can use the file but I have to click on it without the accompanying instrtuctions to help me as they are not visible or printable anymore from within Safari without Flash.  So I'm using the printed instrucitons from Sea Monkey to follow and Safari to do the downloading!
    I'll work this out yet!
eidnolb:  I visited http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/155/tn_15507.html after uninstall as you and pat say to do.
    But the message reads:
"The following displays the type of Flash Player version that this browser is running, and its capabilities.  Usually only developers creating content for Flash Player require this information: "
But Guess What?  The box is a "FLASH" item!!  So I can't see what version is in there!  (Catch-22 they call that!).
My company's Flash pages are showing up on both Safari and Sea Monkey, they pause then load even though I've not set them for "permissions" or "whitelist" on the ClicktoFlash"  because the content is created by various people and they have bad web page habits so especially I do not load Flash immediately at my company's web pages, as it can hang or cause scripts to keep working so I have to stop it.  That is why the person I deal with got me "ClicktoFlash" as just because I know how to create a web page, doesn't mean all the other ones I deal with know how!
I'm thinking at this point, should I try installing back in the  version again?  I guess no harm can come from that so I went back to eidnolb's version in original message and tried to load it in again.
    Result is: nothing!
I clicked on your address in Sea Monkey and copied to safari and both don't work.  "Page Not Found" Error.
This is what I clicked on  to get the Flash installer 10.1.102.64  before!  I know it worked then, why not now?  So I'll use the copy I've downloaded before but why is the link not working now?
    eidnolb: June 15, 2011 10:53 am
Flash installer 10.1.102.64 [http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/installers/archive/fp 10.1.102.64_and_9.0.289.0archive.zip] Open the archive to reveal yet more archives and multiple files. Select: flashplayer101r102_64_ubmac.dmg
By the way....reading everything that came with the installer program (it appears for developers only as archived version), it says to "restart" system after uninstall.  Maybe that is what I did not do, but I've closed and restarted my computer each time I leave so I know its been "done" in middle of writing your forum replies, I just save it elsewhere and come back to continue writing!
So closing and restarting everything had no effect.  On the Adobe Find Flash Player Version  page, I still can't "see" the box with version of Flash Player I'm currently running, as its a Flash box that does not activate. The other Adobe page with "red" F still does not show the me  "red" F just a huge "Flash" box that I can't open.
So here goes with installing again from the saved version of download (by the by I'm now down to 9.46 GB free since I've opened and downloaded so many files so many times.  Just don't know which to delete as nothing has worked yet!
    Now it works! I think!
I got the "Find Flash Player Version" page and I can "see" the result
I'm using Player Version: MAC 10,1,53,64
    Debug Player:  No
    Opening system Mac OS 10.4.11
    Video Capable Yes
    Audio Capable Yes
    Local File I/O Enabled: Yes
So I guess that is it!
    It works !
I could have just said this part alone, but wanted both of you to see what steps I took to get it working again!  (Might be helpful to anyone else stupid enough to try to create more room by deleting any large files with unidentified names).
Which answer fits the bill for "correct" answer? I"ll click on and award points however you both see fit (10 to best answer 5 to possible answers).
I went to check on the one you (eidnolb) answered about Google Maps (I have a iPad now and always use it for my portable use of Google Maps so didn't notice anything like he mentioned, so I just went in to give a check and Safari and Google Maps are all working fine  with street views  (the orange man---does anyone have a name for him? Have a contest!).  It all works so thanks again.
    Best regards to everyone!

  • Outlook 2013 archiving doesn't work when cached mode is enabled

    Hi All,
I have a problem in Outlook 2013 which I've been able to replicate on two separate PCs, operating against two separate Exchange servers.  In both cases, archiving of old items does not work in Outlook 2013 when cached mode is enabled.  It works
fine if cached mode is switched off so I don't believe the problem is related to the archiving settings.
Has anyone else come across this?
    Thanks,
    Matt

Based on my knowledge, Outlook auto archieve setting is stored in registry and only affects on local host.
If the AutoArchive doesn't work anymore, please refer to the follow article to troubleshoot the issue
    http://www.howto-outlook.com/faq/archivenotworking.htm
If we are talking about Microsoft Exchange Online Archiving, I think it would run fine when you in Exchange online mode as your expected.

  • Change Status of archived document after approval process

hi how can we change the status of an archived document in KM after it has gone thru the approval process.
the reason once we archive we cannot resubmit the document for approval.
    thanks

    Hi Venu,
have a look under System Administration - System Configuration -- Knowledge Management -- Configuration --Content Management -- User Interface -- Commands -- UI Command Groups -- StatemanagementGroup.
See Java class: com.sapportals.wcm.rendering.uicommand.cm.UIStatemanagementGroupCommand. Take the class and decompile this and everything needed around to understand how this class works.
Then you can choose to extend this CommandGroup to also have a command "Resubmit for Approval" or you can implement your own UI Command only for resubmitting (you will also have to activate your command (group) by settings within the configuration).
On the other hand, if all this is completely new to you, I'm a bit sceptical if the task isn't a bit too big as a first task on KM implementation topics...?
    Hope it helps

  • PI 7.1 Archiving - Delete

    hi Team,
We have PI 7.1 production environment and planning to implement ARCHIVING & DELETE for Integration Engine, Adapter Engine and Business Process Engine based messages.
I had referred to 'How to arhive & delete' doc that highly available in SDN but few question after going through the doc.
    1. If a interface flagged for ARCHIVING then all messages in complete message status gets automatically Archived
    2. And if interface not flagged for ARCHIVING then all messages of those interfaces gets automatically Deleted
Ofcourse on these both the cases, the corresponding action takes place only provided the retention period candition meets.
    1. But Wondering, How about the messages that NOT successfully processed? Somewhere in SDN i red the NOT completetly proccessed messages require to be first 'Cancelled' and then they get marked for ARCH so that it gets archived! So in this case, both 'Synchronous" and "Asynchronous" not completely proccessed messages have to be marked for 'Cancel' before they get Archived?
    2. Keeping this aside how the not completely processed archving, Why we need to archive the messages that are not completely proccessed in PRODUCTION environment?
    3. In regards to 'NOT Completely processed' messages, I agree to certain extend that "All these have to be removed" from Database so that we gain disk space that helps improve the performance also? Please share your knowledge.
    4. Either Archiving or Delete mechanism has any dependance or functional variations on Synchronous and Asysnchronous?
I highly appriciate all those add their knowledge here to clarify
    Regards
    Sekhar

    Dear Sekhar,
let me go through your questions step by step...
This is almost correct. Canceling is required for asynchonous messages in error state only. By canceling a message its state changes from error to final and this it is allowed to be archived. In contrast synchronous messages are final right when processing fails.
Please note: archiving applies to asynchronous messages only. It is a general decision by SAP to not archive synchronous messages.
    2. Keeping this aside how the not completely processed archving, Why we need to archive the messages that are not completely proccessed in PRODUCTION environment?
Once an asynchronous message enters the central Intergation Server(IS) or the local Integration Engine(IE) XI/PI takes over responsibility for this message. Canceling a message means a serious violation of the EO/EOIO protocol. This violation needs to be documented in productive environments for the purpose of tracebility.
    3. In regards to 'NOT Completely processed' messages, I agree to certain extend that "All these have to be removed" from Database so that we gain disk space that helps improve the performance also? Please share your knowledge.
I am not quite sure that I got the point. For each message entering the IS/IE SAP has to provide a guided procedure to reorganize this message. For successfully processed messages this is done by standard house-keeping jobs for archivng and deletion. For messages in error state there are basically two ooptions:
    (1) restert message after error has been fixed;
         -   if message processing is sucessful this time, we are back to normal
         -   if message processing fails again, we are in the very same siutation as before
    (2) cancel messages; this males the message 'final' and then it is treated like sucessfully processed messages.
Thus, this is all about defining an end point in the lifecycle of each message.

  • Is there any way to archive correspondence customer statements in SAP

    Hi,
    1) Is there a way to archive customer statements for correspondence that SAP has provided? If not, do you know of any way that companies use to archive customer statements?
    2) Business Address Services -- Does it fall under the realm of functional or technical teams? The reason I ask is there are some customers that need to get their statements by mail and some by fax and some with both by fax and mail. I found out that this can be done by BAS. But it all looks too technical to me.
    3) Can customer statements only be generated using SAP script or are you sure you can use SMARTFORMS?
Your replies are stongly appreciated and points will be rewarded.
    Thanks,
    Lakshman.

    Hi Laksman,
    Welcome to SDN !!!
    Well for your answer.
    1) to my knowledge most of the company save customer statement externally, either through paper or as pdf files.but you can generate customer statement as describe by SURE above.
    2) Well Business address services fall under functional even through it seems too technical.   But you need help to techinical team to execute the same. as in the end configuration needs to be done for output types to decide if its printed or send through Fax. etc.
    3) Smartforms can also be used but SAP script is the most commonly used.
    Hope this helps.
Please assign points as way to say thanks

  • Archival/Deletion of messages in XI 3.0 SP23

    Dear All,
We need to carry out a data deletion/purging activity at our XI box, where no archival/deletion policy has been incorporated ever. As a preparatory measure, I need to have some guidelines for the activities as under,
    1. While defining an Archival policy, is there any recomendation from SAP or others that message archival exercise has to be carried out first, before proceeding with message deletion? To be more precise, can we directly delete/purge the messages without archiving them? What will be the impact of such an exercise on the XI system?
This point may sound confusing but the reality is that we do not have enough H/W to carry out an activity of Archival and Deletion.
    2. What is the SAP recomendation/best practice in this regard?
    3. Although we are defining the Archival/Deletion policy now, we need to purge data that is 3 years old and we do not require them any more. What would be the best practice to carryout this activity?
    Thanks and regards,
    Sugata Basu

    Hi Sugatada,
is there any recomendation from SAP or others that message archival exercise has to be carried out first, before proceeding with message deletion?
          No as per my knowledge..
can we directly delete/purge the messages without archiving them? What will be the impact of such an exercise on the XI system?
This wholly depends on requirement...if the data is too old...you can directly delete it..no need to archieve..
What is the SAP recomendation/best practice in this regard?
you can set these values which close to best practice...
Retention period for both synch and asynch
msgs without error awaiting deletion : 180 days
msgs without error awaiting archieving : 45 days
retention period for history entris for deleted msgs : 30 days
in XI we have 2 types of action:
    (1) deletion of XML messages (without prior archiving)
    (2) archiving of XML messages with subsequent deletion
    SAP_BC_XMB_DELETE* for type (1)
    SAP_BC_XMB_ARCHIVE* for type (2)

  • Archive Generation in RAC environment.

    Gems,
I have one doubt it was not able to solve from my mind i.e.
    As per my knowledge,
    1) Every instance has its own thread so Thread is instance specific. My questions are, How the SCN will be maintained in ARCHIVES? will thread 1 & thread2 contains the same SCN?
    2) If i have primary database with two nodes, and standby as single stand alone, How it will apply the archives on standby? I monitored ALERT log file of standby, Mostly it applies first thread 1 sequence, then thread2 sequence then thread1 sequence and then thread 2 sequence and so on.. Let me know if my assumption is wrong.
    3) If i cloned from RAC to NON-RAC then, If in case if i performed SCN based recovery as
    run
    set until scn 10000;
    restore database;
    recover database;
then scn *10000* will contain in both the archives or only in one archives? or it contains only in one sequence? Please explain me.
Appriciated for the right answers, If you are unable to understand let me know, I will try to clear up more clearly.
    Thanks

    Hi,
first of all there are 2 kinds of SCNs. A "global" SCN and a local SCN per instance. Since 10g the SCNs are advanced with a mechanism called BoC (Broadcast on Commit).
Each time the LGWR writes to the redo log, LGWR sends a message to update the global SCN in all instances and to update the local SCN in all active instances.
1.) So each RedoLog entry knows the global SCN. So even though you have multiple instances, the SCN is unique (and in order).
2.) That depends on how the redlogs were written. If e.g. one instance did not write redologs for a while, it could be that 2 logs from instance 1 are needed before the log from instance 2 is needed. But in gerenall it will be "parts of redolog 1 then parts of redolog 2" etc.
3.) Yes you can, since the (global) SCNs are unique and will be used.
    Regards
    Sebastian

  • Archive Link and toa01

    Hi everyone.
I would like ask if somebody could help me with this one.
I would like to now how many of the billing documents we have produced are stored in our Content Manager solution. Therefore I made a program which takes the billing doc number plus 4 zeroes and the billing date. These I compare with the the firste 10 digits in the DOC ID field and Archived DATE in table toa01.
This works fine mostly but I found some examples where the billing doc has an copy of it in the Content Manager and when I search for this Doc. through transaction OAAD I found nothing. I entered the billing doc number 10 digits in the SAP OBJECT ID and found nothing like my program says. But when I take the DOC ID from the found billing doc and entered this one in the field I find the document and actually I found the DOC ID to which was unknown befor.
Does anyone has a solution for this one?
    Thanks.

    Hi Neha,
I'm sorry I don't have answer to your question but I wonder if you could help me.
I'm looking at OSS note 530792 to configure GOS 'create attachment' option to copy the attachments to the archive server. currently, these are written to the SAP office tables SOC3, SOFFCONT1, etc and I want to use the archivelink and SAPHTTP and copy to the archive storage.
Have you successfully managed to configure your system since you mentioned TOA01?
In the same GOS menu I've activated the 'Business document' option and can copy these to the archive server by correctly configuring OAC2 and OAC3.
I'll really appreciate of you could please share your knowledge.
    Thanks.

  • Failed 'Archive and Install' - will CLI ditto or rsync save me?

I've done an 'Archive and Install' that ran properly, executed the restart, and then presented a message saying the installation can not be completed because of insufficient space on the target volume. To be clear, the computer restarts in the 'Installer' and displays the error message. I click 'OK' and it does a little loop and reappears. I can't properly quit the installer, force-quit, restart, anything. So I eventually power down.
    More info :
I can boot from the install disk and in the system profiler I see 9.5 gigs free on the HD. The SMART status is verified. In fact the 'Hardware' section and 'Network' section seems okay, the 'Software' sections reveal the faults. Here I see no mounted applications, no extensions, no frameworks, etc. It's as if I can see where the install gave up. I have run disk utility and repaired the disk, the permissions, and it returns no errors and a nice green message. I ran DiskWarrior and it found nothing to repair. I was able to see my files in the preview, including my sparse image, but decided not to go ahead with a re-build, because I don't think that's going to save my system folder that's split in two. (From the failed A&I)
I am using FileVault and I am aware that these forums advise that I should have disabled it before trying the installation. Alas, the drive-space overhead was not to be found. I did, however, have room enough for the install, I thought. (And I do have my most critical data backed up, but not the whole system.) When I ran the install from the OS X DVD it indicated 15.6 gigs necessary for installation. I had in excess of 18. I know, I know, too close for comfort, and the FileVault image probably needed more overhead, and...
Chalk it up to knowledge and change.
So now I've got that external FW drive I should have had in the first place and I want to clone my whole HD over so I can start anew with an 'Erase and Install'. (Unless somebody thinks of something better. Bless the previous system?)
I'm not an idiot, but new to the command line (at least since the GUI has existed). I'm wanting to try this :
    ditto source target
    or
rsync -xrlptgoEv --progress --delete / /Volumes/target
Do I need to be in 'single user mode' (root - which I can access), or should I execute from the terminal via the install disk?
I just want to be sure I get this right, I'm confident that my data is there I just need to finesse it out.
Advance thanks to Kappy, your posts have saved me before...

Doesn't really sound like archive and install would be of much benefit to you, with as fubarred as everything sounds. However, you would at least have what you had before, just in case there's some unixy or other obscure thing that you did in the past that you need to reinstall because of the reversion to an OEM state. After 10.4.0 is reinstalled from DVD, then apply the OS 10.4.11 combo ppc update to get you up to the latest and greatest in one fell swoop. I believe that QT7.4 came out later than 10.4.11 release so that should be okay. Don't know about QT7.3, though.
