  • About Knowledge Exchange Portal (portalstudio)

    Hi
I really do not understand why you guys decided to take out the Knowledge Exchange Portal.
This place was THE PLACE to get in the move with Oracle Portal. Developers could share and find things. Definitely was not the best user friendly interface, but was doing its job.
From about 3 or 4 months the site is down and show this "friendly" message:
"Knowledge Exchange is no longer available"
There are some forums on this and no one from Oracle had ever write a single line.
    Re: Knowledge Exchange unavailable
    Knowledge Exchange
    Knowledge exchange not working
    Oracle Portal...Knowledge Exchange link down
I even created a SR in metalink (See SR 5626679.992) to ask this issue and the response is as cold as the one in the site:
"Based on the information I have received, Knowledge Exchange along with all its contents is no more available"
Where we can find the DHTML menu object type? where we can find the chat and the forum portlet?.
I think Oracle Corporation should open this kind of spaces to let the developers share.. If not, many many many open source GNU portal frameworks will take out Oracle Portal from the CM scene, just take a look to http://www.cmsmatrix.org/matrix/cms-matrix.
I hope some day all the Portal enthusiasts , like me, will have a oracle.com site to share Knowledge AGAIN

    Hi,
Well, just to add more weight to Daniel's post, here's another Thread where an entusiastic Portal Developer was left clueless due to the unavailavility of Knowledge Exchange:-
I could not find Ronaldo Viscuso DHtml Menu to download.

  • The enterprise portal book

    hi all

  • Multiple ESS's in one Portal connected to different backend systems?

    Hi,
We have two backend systems installed.
    We have one portal.
We want to create a second copy of the ESS Portal content connected to the the second backend.
Datawise this is not a problem.
But what about the JCo's and the Homepage Framework?
The WebDympro application seems to look for two specific JCo (for example SAP_R3_HumanResources and ...MetaData) and then both copies of ESS want to use this. Is it not possible to have each copy of ESS use it own JCo's and connect to its own backend system for the Homepage Frameworks?
    Thanks,
    Adriaan

    Adriaan,
Its NOT possible to even talk to different clients in same backend system because you cannot duplicate the JCos and while creating them you need to specify the system and client details.
Also it uses a system alias which also has to be unique.
Per my knowledge one portal instance can talk to only backend client and to talk to another backend / client you will need to create a new instance within the Portal.
This [help|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/82/76a2406546ba15e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm] talks sometihng on multiple backend support. I am not much aware about it but see if it helps you.

  • How to see the KM tab in Portal

    Hello All,
I have access to Content Admin and System Admin in my Portal. We are using this portal only for BI reports. Now we want to uplaod some user training documentation under a new tab called "Documentation" and show all the PDF files for users to open and see to train themselves.
I have uploaded all the documents to Root > Documents > Public Documents folder  under KM Content.
But i dont know how can i give access to all the users to see these documents on portal. Is there any standard role that i can use to display these documents folder by default ot all the users under a new tab called "Documentation".
Can you guys pelase help me out here, I am not a Portal specialist. I am a BI guy with very little knowledge on portal.
    Cheers
    POPS

    Hi POPS,
first of all, I wouldn't use the Content Manager role, not even as template, because it is too powerful and too complex for your scenario.
What you need is only a KM Navigation iView that points to the documents folder.
You should follow this simple steps to achieve your goal:
    1. Go to the Portal Content Studio and create a new Workset. Name it "BI Documentation" and make sure that "Entry Point" is set to yes.
    2. Create a new iView based on the template "KM Navigation iView" (or the component com.sap.km.cm.navigation). Set "Path to Initially Displayed Folder" and "Path to Root Folder for Navigation" to "documents/Public Documents". Set the "Layout Set" parameter to "ConsumerTreeStatusList". (Here I'm not sure exactly how you which layout do you prefer.
    3. Add the new iView to the workset and add the workset to your existing role.
    4. Go to the /documents/Public Documents folder and access Details -> Settings -> Permissions. Make sure you set the permission so that the Group "Everyone" has only "Read" access.
Hope that leads you to your desired goal.
    Best regards,
    Robert

  • SCM Collaborative portal - works internally but  NOT through Internet

I am posting this question this form as you have very good knowledge of portal and I believe  underlying technology of  SCM collaboration Portal and EP are same.
I am working on Collaborate planning in APO (SCM) - sharing SCM planning books over internet so that collaborators (customers) can access our data.  I enabled all the required services using SICF and published services using SE80.
Portal works correctly in Intranet (with in our network), But doesnot work in Internet, link/url doesn't not bring up log on screen and get error no page found.
We are on SCM5.0 (Netwaver 7.0) and using integrated ITS.
What other settings required to access through internet?
    Thanks in advance,
    Niranjan

  • Plz send  material on portal development

    hello sir/madam,
I am sandhya.I completed my B.Tech.I am new to Portal Development. Can u suggest me  how to get knowledge on portal and what are the prerequisites for portal. What are the sites which gives information about portal development and where we can get the training. If u have any materials can u plz send me.
                        Thanking u,
    Regards,
    Sandhya Rani.Immadi

    Hi Sandhya,
Welcome the EP community. Great to see that you are starting early (just after college). The links for portal development are as follows:
    1. To begin with EP there are vairous courses at the following link (from Beginner to Advanced)
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/elearning?rid=/webcontent/uuid/4b0c105e-0501-0010-bcb0-92478a4b2a17
    2. Web Dynpro: Java based portal development is done using this tool(Infact it is picking up quite fast). The link contains tutorials for creating applicatios. Just the right thing for getting you started without boring you with too much theory:
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/011be490-0201-0010-2f90-91e872e9490c
    3. For HTMLB (HTML for Business),  the language used for the portal development:
    http://www.sapdesignguild.org./resources/htmlb_guidance/getting_started.html
The following links will get you started in Portal Development. Also I would advice that you have a good understanding on Java/J2EE. If you are new to it and want to get a quick & good understanding on Java/J2EE, I would suggest you go read Head First Series of Java books (Head First Java, Head First Servlet & JSP and Head First EJB).Really useful books, stresses only on the concepts and nothing more.
Also start visiting forums adn weblogs at SDN, there is a lot of stuff happening out here.
Hope this will help you. Let me know if you have any more queries.
    Thanks & Regards

  • Issue with PI messages in "To be Delivered" Status

    Hello Experts,
We have a Mail to SOAP scenario on PO 7.4 single stack PI system. Currently we are facing issue with messages where messagess are in status "To be Delivered". Messages dont get processed further.
Two days back, we had issue with file system table overflow and this cause messages remained in "Delivering" status. I can see Audit log with error emssage for table space full.
    I couldnt cancel/resend those messages.
I believed these messages are causing rest of the messages to go in "To be Delivered" status. I found few blogs to check resources in Java Engine Additional Data->Queues and its looks good.
we had system restart and these "Delivering" messages were cancelled but again when we tried a fresh run and first message went into "Delivering" Status with 500 server error message in audit log and subsequent messages started going into "To be Delivered" status. This is happening only for one scenario, rest of the message are working fine.
I tried wit new BS, Channel, Integrated scenario for same functioanlity but its not working.
Recent messages with "To be Delivered" can be seen with below audit log
Information MP: processing local module localejbs/sap.com/com.sap.aii.adapter.mail.app/XIMailAdapterBean
Information Mail: Calling the module processor for channel CC_Sender_V2
Information Mail: Message leaving the adapter (call)
Information Trying to put the message into the send queue
Information Application attempting to send an XI message asynchronously using connection AFW
Information Message successfully put into the queue
Information Trying to put the message into the send queue
    Information Mail: Call completed
Information Message successfully put into the queue
Information The application sent the message asynchronously using connection AFW. Returning to application
Information Mail: Call returned for channel CC_Sender_V2
we have latest patch(SAP_XIESR Version 1000.1.70) applied 10 days back only
    Kindly suggest.

    Hi All,
Thanks for your reply and suggestions.
Now messages are flowing properly. Issue was with data population in the target structure. Receiver side we have Knowledge Management portal website and CreateDocument operation fields were expecting some values to be populated. We tried few combinations and it worked.
We also tried changing mapping and we could reproduce messages with "To be delivered" status.
Now we are searching for KM Portal Webservice documentation where information about every field of operation is mentioned. If we straight away pass source mailbody to webservice, its not working. failing at webservice end with error 500 internal server error. It expects data to be in Base64 format and also fields like Length of data to be populated. If we get documentation then things would be more easy. We are also passing attachment but its not getting generated at target end. We are not sure if webservice support that feature.
    Thanks,
    Vinit.

Are you implementing IPv6 in your network? Please share any of your IPv6 information needs here. Also share any comments you have on the IPv6 Knowledge Base Portal.

    Hi John
If it's like previous years, you can register for as many sessions as you want, providing there are no clashes as you can't register for sessions that conflict or overlap with previosly booked sessions. It's always worth booking for those sessions that are of interest as some often fill and if you're not registered, you're forced to wait in a standby queue and might miss out entirely.
I only know as much as you do now regarding when the schedule builder will finally be available in that it's due sometime in July (which doesn't have too many days remaining).
Now my sessions will obviously fill quickly so make sure you book early or you might miss out ;)

  • Transported Roles not Visible for the User Log-in

I have three roles in the development system.  These roles show up in the top level navigation for the users in the dev system.  All these roles and the underlying BSPs are transported to QA successfully.  I could assign them to users without any problems, but when the users log-in they can not see any of these roles at the top level navigation (In fact, they just get a blank screen).  "Entry Point" setting and "Sort Priority" is maintained for all the three roles.
As a test, I created a new role with the same BSP links in QA itself and assigned it to the users.  This shows up in the top level navigation for the users.  I am wondering what's wrong with the transported roles!  If someone could help me here that would be great and I will assign points to helpful replies.  I have a very basic knowledge in portal.

After applying SP12 in the portal landscape (EP 6.0), the role transports only work in our test environment, but not in production.  Even the manual corrections suggested in OSS note 1002832 didn't help.  I can preview all the iviews in the roles with my user id (admin id), but as soon as I log-in with the end user id nothing shows up [Not even the top level navigation tabs show up].  The following is the portal authorization methodology I chose.
    1. I assign users to the user groups
    2. I assign user groups to the roles
I want to emphasize that all is well in our test environment, it is the production environment that shows inconsistency.  Let me know if anyone has any pointers.

  • Hide backend system from internet

    Hi Experts,
i've got a question and would be really satisfied to get an clear answer...
Is it really possible to hide my ECC backend systems (host, domain, port and servicepath!)  complete using an webdispatcher or reverse proxy? We have the task to publish an webdynpro abap ICM service to the internet and want to mask the backend systems.
From my state of knowledge the portal itself isn't able to cover the backend request by its own. Always the client gets the url of the ICM service back. Even if we would use an WD or an Apache reverse proxy, the service name is visible on the internet.
Is this right or is there an another possibility?
    regards,
    thomas

    Thomas,
I guess your understanding is true. When we use a WD or Apache RP, the initial URL for the client/users can be custom made but ultimately, to go fetch the application the
    (*host, domain, port and servicepath!*)
    is necessary.

    Sandeep Tudumu
