Kobo books

we were able to download a couple of books into our library but we want more we can't get out of the library to shop for more

How are you trying to shop for them, in the app or via a browser ? If you are trying to buy them in the app then you will need to go to a browser instead and then download your new books to the app.

  • How to add my own pdf into "Kobo Books"?

Anyone knows how to add my own PDFs into "Kobo Books"?
The "Adobe Reader" in playbook doesn't have bookmark function.

Because the Adobe Reader pre-installed in Playbook doesn't have Bookmark function, while kobo has it.

  • Kobo books download

This is the first time I have purchased and ebook from Kobo books.  I have been unable to download it eventhough I have Adobe Digital Editions.  The download window says, "Unable to find file".  Can anyone help? Thanks

    Hi,
There were 2 other eBooks (different publishers) that I had to ask Kobo for help with when they failed to migrate over with the rest of my Sony eReader library. I haven't tried purchasing more books recently because of this outstanding issue. I received a store credit from Kobo for the book that I was able to purchase but not load on to my eReader. It is available from the Kobo store however, I was told that the publisher has not released it in a format compatible with my Sony eReader.
I can try and purchase a different book and see what happens if that will help pinpoint the problem? Thank you for your patience and continued assistance.

Not sure if this is the issue in your case, but ...

There are lots of bugs in ADE2.0 (and 2.0.1).  Try replacing ADE2.0 with the older but more reliable v1.7.2.
(You can have them both installed at once if you like.)
Version 1.7.2, it is a little difficult to find, available on Adobe site for Windows and for Mac.

The forum software is sometimes corrupting the link above.  There shouldn't be a blank in 'editio ns.html'.  The following redirects to the same page: http://tinyurl.com/diged172
Some people have found ADE trying to upgrade automatically.
It appears (not 100% sure) that if you install ADE2.0 as a new install (not as an upgrade) that your 1.7.2 will continue to run.
Probably best to say no if 2.0.x installation asks if you want to migrate your library.

  • Cannot Read Kobo Books Off Line

After no problems with Kobo on my Playbook for six months, I discovered that I can no longer read my Kobo books off line. I deleted then reloaded the Kobo app, downloaded all my (current) books again and reset dog ears on my current read. However, when I turnoff wireless or don't have internet service I can't access my Playbook loaded books. All I get is a white screen, bookmark symbol and a continuous rotating "loading" symbol..
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

This has happened to me too, which is a real pain. I have found that if I open KOBO when online in the morning and leave it on my library page and put the playbook onto standby, then I can leave home and get the train and open the book I am reading. But it only seems to work for a finite time which I haven't yet determined. After that I just get the endless whirling circle if I try to open a book.
KOBO were very helpful and the reply I got was that the App used to work until Blackberry upgraded to OS2. If you have OS2 the Kobo app needs to be online. They acknowledge that this renders their app useless for commuting readers with no wifi and say they are working with Blackberry to solve it. Perhaps we should all lobby BB, if only I could find out how to send them a message...

  • Kobo books on blackberry playbook

Everything works on my playbook except a book from Kobo I ordered and can't seem to open. I haven't had any problems in the past. I have downloaded books without a problem. This particular book started okay, but now it just won't open. Any suggestions?

  • I downloaded ibooks onto IPAD 3.  I used the Kobo before.  How do I load purchased kobo books onto ibook?

How can I transfer books from Kobo (on the imac) to the IPAD-3?

Not to the iBooks app no, ebooks tend to have digital rights management on them which ties them to the store's own app/e-reader.
You can download and use the Kobo app for your Kobo purchases

  • How do I download kobo books that require an Adobe ID?

  • Authorization issue won't allow me to read books on Kobo

I just bought 2 new books from Kobo books.
I loaded them on Adobe Digital Editions and transferred them onto my Kobo.
However on my kobo, I cannot open the books its says that I am not authorized to view them. But both my Kobo and computer say they are authorized under the exact same email address (the same it has always been authorized under) and I tried deauthorizing and reauthorizing both, unplugging and replugging my kobo, to no avail.
Someone please help as I refuse to waste the $30 I spent buying these books.

Yes I can open the books on ADE and read them. When transferred to my Kobo, instead of showing a thumbnail of the book's cover I see a black rectangle and when I click it says "Oops! This document couldn't be opened. This document is protected by AD Rights Management (DRM) and is not currently authorized for use with your Adobe ID. Please sign-in with the authorized Adobe ID and try again."

  • If I donwload e-books from various e-book retailers and want to back them up on an external hard drive without losing the format, do I need a special hard drive?

If I download e-books from various e-book retailers and want to back them up on an external hard drive without losing the format, do I need to know anything special?

I just looked into this as I was moving my iPad to a new computer for synching.  With no thanks to Kobo for any really useful information on their help site (this discussion was the most useful info I found), I think the following may address your issue with respect to Kobo.
    1. There is not easy or official way to back up Kobo books from your iPad.
    2. Kobo keep track of your personal library.  Go to the Kobo website (Kobo.com) and sign in to your account.  On the very top line is "My Library".  That contains (or at least Kobo says it does) everything you have ever bought from Kobo.  Kobo say that you may download any of this content to other devices you own at no charge.
    3. I synched my iPad to the new computer.  According to Apple, that will delete all my data as the apps are re-installed from the new compute.  While all my apps got moved around from the order I previously had (many thanks Apple), all my books are still there together with my bookmarks etc.  Looks like this did nothing to change any Kobo data.
While I do not like the idea that I cannot create a backup on my main computer, it is probably safer in the long run that there is a backup at Kobo.  After all, I could lose all my equipment in a fire or something, and then personal  backups would be of little use.

  • Using digital editions 2.0, I cannot transfer books downloaded to digital editions from library to my nook.  Error message: failed to write destination file.

Using digital editions 2.0, I cannot transfer books downloaded to digital editions from the library to my nook.  I get an error message: failed to write destination file. At first, this happened once in a while but now every time. Help!!!

Modern kobo books should just use regular Adobe DRM and be readable on compatible ereaders that are authorized to the correct Adobe ID.
I understand older kobo book had different DRM: but I wouldn't expect those to
When Adobe DRM book information say 'no copying', that generally means no copying outside those Adobe DRM limitations.
You should be able to copy within the restrictions.  You can double-check that with the sellers (Kobo).
    Just double-checking
the pocket book is Adobe DRM compatible?
that you have authorized your pocket book with your current Adobe ID?
menu/Help/Authorize Device when plugged into ADE:  Library/Authorize Device if using the older more reliable ADE 1.7.2
If the pocket book is already authorized but to a different ID, you will need to deauthorize it first, ctrl-shift-E to ADE with device plugged in (or cmd-shift-E on Mac).
Be aware that will lose the ability to read DRM books authorized with the previous ID.

I have a book for my college course I purchased through academic pub.  The site required me to download Adobe Digital Editions, which i did.  However, when I click to download the book, I get a message that says "Adobe Reader could not open 'URLLink(10).acsm' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded".

  • Can't sync BBPB Kobo w pc

I have a BlackBerryPlaybook. Basically, I just turned it on and started using it - no backing up, no syncing. My internet wifi only gives my 2 Gigs /mth, so I don't want to backup to the PC. I accessed the Kobo books program that comes w/BBPB and bought a book, no problem! however, kobo has sent me a welcome email with a discount of 20% and I cant use it. When I try to use it at checkout on the playbook,  it says I have no purchases and no kobo promo. Contacted kobo and they said it must be done from my PC. Tried and got exactly same results, so do I need to sync Playbook kobo with PC and how do I do that? Thx for any help

You literally should just be able to use the promo code on the Kobo website on a PC (or indeed in the PlayBook Browser).
If it isn't working, try a different web browser. Having gone through the process myself a long time ago - it isn't always obvious that it's applied the discount.
This has nothing to do with the PlayBook app, so don't worry about that.
Once you've purchased the book, it should appear in your library.
