Kobo e-readers

Can I transfer books from my Kobo e-reader to the iBooks library? I can't find a Kobo app for the iPod touch and I want to continue reading a book I have on my Kobo e-reader.

Not sure. If you can get the ebooks on Mac, maybe you can convert them to something the iPod can read using Calibre
<http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/30657/calibre>
While there may not be a Kobo ereader, maybe Stanza may be a reasonable substitute, as well as Apple's iBook.
According to Wikipedia, Kobo reads plain text, PDF, and ePub formats. iBook and Stanza (as well as other ebook readers) can read ePub.
The only limitation might be if the ebook has DRM, and whether it is a proprietary encryption, or if it uses a standard that other ereaders can decode.

  • How to get rid of out of use appliances from ADE so I can authorise my new appliance?

My A.D.E will n ot authorise my new Kobo e-reader.  When I try it says there are too many authorisations already.  How do I get rid of (unauthorise) out of use appliances ie my two previous and now out of date kobo e-readers from ADE so I can authorise my new appliance?

You need to talk with Adobe service.
They will remove ALL your registrations, and you will need to reregister the ones you want.
For some reason, Adobe doesn't have any sensible online system for viewing/editing registrations.

  • What about this e-book??

I have a Kindle e-book, and my brother has a Kodo.  Can you give me instruction on.                                        How to transfer books from one book to another?    Where to go to get all the free books?   Can I go on other sites to download books or stay on adobe?
We are very new at this.
Hope you c an help in some way?
    F.

Welcome to the world of ebooks!  It's fascinating and exciting - and can be
a pain in the butt at times.  But what technology isn't?
To start with, each ereader has a linkage to a particular ebookstore.  The
Kindle is linked to Amazon, while the Kobo is linked to Kobo/Borders.  The
beauty of Adobe Digital Editions is that it can service some ereaders and
make it possible to get ebooks from other sites than the one your ereader is
linked to.  Kindles, unfortunately, aren't supported by ADE (see
    http://blogs.adobe.com/digitalpublishing/supported-devices).  Kobo's readers
aren't supported by Amazon either, but you can use ADE to download books
from other sites: the Kobo ebookstore, WH Smith, Project Gutenberg (for
public domain books like Sherlock Holmes), manybooks.net and others.  Do a
Google search on ebooks and bunches of sites will jump out at you.
What's discouraging, though, is that you and your brother aren't going to be
able to share ebooks directly.  You'll find the same titles are sold or
downloaded for free from more than one site, so you can share the ebooks by
putting a copy from different sources on each of your ereaders.  Not the
best solution, because it can get expen$ive, though.  If you wanted to
inve$t in readers that were the same or similar (the same make, but
different models), you'd be able to share the ebooks via the bookstore, or
via ADE, depending on what you bought.  ADE will allow you to dowload to
more than one supported ereader if the publisher's permissions permit it.  I
now have four ereaders, where three months ago, I had none, in part because
my wife and I wanted to share ebooks.
It's amazing how you can get attached to these things!
    Hope this helps!

  • Sony needs to address Sony eReader users. I cannot use Kobo to download books to my readers.

What was the point of transferring my Sony Store bought books to Kobo if the Kobo Desktop app won't allow book downloads to my readers?   I spent considerable time on the phone with Kobo customer care and tehy determined I need to use PC for Reader (sony) to download my Sony bought ebooks.   Yet, I can't find a  link to PC for Reader that works.  SIte under construction?
Kobo suggested I use adobe digital edition to download books.  ADE shows me an empty library.  How can Sony ignore it's customers?

the link below should work for downloading the current version of the sony reader software.  Hope that helps, However, even with this version of the software installed mine is unable to sign in to the store.

  • For Readers NOOK is released for Android

Finally the best ereader stores are all on Android now.  Barnes and Noble Nook is now on Android, Kindle came to Android earlier this month, Kobo finally came to Android replacing the Shortcovers app, and you can get the Borders app that basically is the same as Kobo but with a few more books and a few different prices.
    My readers now
Kobo - Cause I dig ePub and have bought a few books through there one of which because my wife couldn't get it on Kindle
Aldiko - Cause it is free and has a broad selection of free books from classics to independant free books.
Kindle - Cause my wife has a Kindle account and a bunch of books.  We can both read books and discuss them without buying books from two different stores and paying for them twice.
Borders - Cause it supports ePub and is supported by Kobo but adds some content that I was looking for
B&N Nook - Cause I want one it is the most versatile and allows purchase/download from all of the above stores except Kindle.  The app doesn't I don't think but still quite nice.
Anyway kind of nerdy but I am excited.  Most of the high profile apps I was waiting to see are here now.  If we ever get 2.2 then I think I will be all set.  It has all the core functionality upgrades I have been waiting for.

Aldiko is all free books.  I have been reading a bunch of Phillip K Dick books from Aldiko.  There are a ton of classics in it.   All of them have some free content.  Really I like somethings about all of them.  I haven't used the Nook app yet since I haven't bought any books lately but all of them are good but really the Nook and the Kindle would be most helpful if you or a loved one has one of the readers.  You could read some of their books.

  • Does adobe editions support kobo arc 7 hd?

trying to add new kobo arc 7 hd but adobe doesn't recognize it so can't transfer books

I'm giving the same advice a few times on different threads, so I hope it's right.
Digital Editions recognizes most dedicated eBook readers (as in the list) directly so they show up in ADE,
but does not recognize tablets that have eBook capabilities.
This includes android tablets (probably including KoboArc), and ios tablets such as iPad.
If you have a tablet, you need to install an eBook reading app on it: I suggest Bluefire.
Make sure Bluefire app is registered to the same AdobeID as your ADE.
You can then copy epub files from your PC/Mac using a file manager and read them using Bluefire.
(Apple makes it more difficult, you need iTunes, Dropbox or similar to copy).
    If the books are not DRM, there is no need to use ADE at all;
either download them direct to the tablet and read on Bluefire, or download to the PC/Mac and copy.
For DRM library books you will find an Overdrive app that allows books to be checked out, downloaded and read directly on an android/ios device.
There are also dedicated apps from various vendors.

  • Cannot Read Kobo Books Off Line

After no problems with Kobo on my Playbook for six months, I discovered that I can no longer read my Kobo books off line. I deleted then reloaded the Kobo app, downloaded all my (current) books again and reset dog ears on my current read. However, when I turnoff wireless or don't have internet service I can't access my Playbook loaded books. All I get is a white screen, bookmark symbol and a continuous rotating "loading" symbol..
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

This has happened to me too, which is a real pain. I have found that if I open KOBO when online in the morning and leave it on my library page and put the playbook onto standby, then I can leave home and get the train and open the book I am reading. But it only seems to work for a finite time which I haven't yet determined. After that I just get the endless whirling circle if I try to open a book.
KOBO were very helpful and the reply I got was that the App used to work until Blackberry upgraded to OS2. If you have OS2 the Kobo app needs to be online. They acknowledge that this renders their app useless for commuting readers with no wifi and say they are working with Blackberry to solve it. Perhaps we should all lobby BB, if only I could find out how to send them a message...

  • Adobe Digital Editions not reading Kobo Vox

I can't seem to get the Adobe Digital Editions to read the Kobo Vox.  I've done it before on another computer with a Kobo mini but for some reason it's not working.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

The Vox is a general table rather than a dedicated eReader, and needs the appropriate software installed.
See thread http://forums.adobe.com/message/4775728 for more details.
In summary, for library books, install the Overdrive app.  That avoids the need for ADE/PC at all if you so wish.
For general ADE compatibility, install the Aldiko app.

  • Suggestions to Sony about Readers

I love your products and have stuck with Sony readers since the beginning not giving into the celebrity sponsor or the pricedrops because as we all know you get what you pay for sometimes. I am all over the internet commenting on reviews, blogs and Q and A forums supporting Sony readers.
My suggestions based on what people are saying and what I notice as well:
    1. It would be nice to be able to buy sony ereader gift cards online and send them (or the code) to people as gifts online.
    2. It would be nice if like Kobo there would be a choice when you purchase the book to send it as a gift and again send a code.
    3. It would nice when you go into stores to be able to get the Sony ereader gift cards where all the other gift cards are just like Kindle users can do. I have myself tried to buy the cards at stores where your site advertises to sell them and they do not. I have to go to Best Buy to get them usually.
    4. People did not even know a new ereader came out this October. There should be more advertising.

Thank you for your comments and welcome to the forum. I have passed on your suggestions to the relevant team at Sony.

I can no longer see my kobo in the ADE. What do I do?
I was able to transfer my library books by downloading and then transferring them to my kobo through ADE. Now when I open my ADE my Kobo doesn't show up but the kobo is connected to my computer and I can see it in my control panel.
    thanks

Welcome to the Club! Got the same Problem and had a really hard time reaching the Customer Support because they were down due to maitenance! Just wrote to their experts chat and hope to get an answer in this life!
I tried to authorize my Computer and eBookreader with a new Adobe-ID, but it says I've done used this ID too often, even though it was brandnew! Can't copy my just-purchased eBook because "Copying is not allowed".
I hold my thumbs for you that Adobe solves this Problem fast enough. Other ways I'll sell my eBookreader and buy the Kindle-Reader from Amazon and say GOOD BYE to Adobe!

  • Kobo and library books

Now that I've downloaded a book from the library, How do I get it
on to the Kobo?  It's really frustrating.

There's a couple of pieces of this picture I'm not getting, so let me give
you an answer that starts with the basics.
The Kobo ereader - actually any ereader - has to be recognized by ADE as an
authorized device.  If you follow a certain sequence, this takes place
automagically, because everything is aligned.  First, the Kobo ereader has
to be 'activated' by registering it with Kobo.  That means you have to set
up an account with the Kobo store/website, and then link the ereader to the
website.  When you do this, the Kobo store will embed your Kobo ID in the
Kobo ereader.  Then, turn on your computer and plug in your ereader to a USB
port.  Assuming that your computer is a Windows machine, the computer will
recognize the Kobo ereader as a new device - usually a hard drive.  Once
Windows reports that your new hardware is ready to use, you can start up
ADE.  ADE 'should' recognize that your Kobo ereader is attached, and
register it in the left hand panel of its Library view.  Once this is done,
you can drag and drop books from ADE onto your ereader.
    Hope this helps!
