Kodak i65 Scanning Problems

Hi,
I recently built a brand new computer with intentions of installing Acrobat 8 and utilizing a Kodak i65 scanner. I have had the scanner for a couple of years and it has worked great from Day 1 on the previous computer it was being used with. However, as soon as I hooked it up to the new comp, installed the drivers, installed Acrobat, and scanned my first page, there was a problem.
Every time I try to "Create PDF From Scanner", I receive one of the two error message, either "This File Cannot Be Found" or "Scanning Failed". I checked to make sure I had the latest drivers installed, along with the latest firmware. I can scan fine with the Scan Validation Tool, however, the problem only seems to be with Acrobat 8. Again, the scanner was working fine on the previous computer.
I currently have Windows XP Pro on the new comp, but originally I had Vista and I was receiving the same problem. Initially I thought it was a compatibility issue with Vista so I spent time putting XP on instead. However, regardless of the operating system (Vista or XP) I receive the same problem with the new computer.
I also wanted to point out that I built two other brand new computers along with this one that I am having trouble with. All three comps have the same exact specs/hardware, but they all seem to have this same "File Cannot Be Found" or "Scanning Failed" error with the Kodak i65 Scanner. When I plugged the scanner back into the old computer, it worked fine of course with Acrobat.
If anyone could help, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks a bunch.
Andrew

Try with latest Scan Validation Tool and firmware update from Kodak site.

  • Kodak 5252 scanning problems

does anybody have scanning problems after upgrading to Lion? My kodak all in one 5250 refuses to scan. Wifi is on, printing is working, it's just the scanning function that has given up. Any suggestions would be more then welcome. Chatted with kodak support but they are useless... I have the latest driver 6.2 but still does not work...

Thank you so much. I did as you said and checked out the drivers. Then it dawned on me that i could try my husbands imac running on Leopard. That one did scan. So I then compared the difference in the printer folder and it turned out that I had some extra plugins in my folder that were not present in the other desktop. They are called PrinterOptionsCombo plugin and USBClassDriver.plugin. I took those two out and bingo, it works. I wished though they had talked me through this at Kodak. I had a feeling that the guy in the chat did not really knew what he was talking about... Anyway, problem solved. Don't know how long it would have taken me to figure this out if I did not have had a second working computer in the house... ;o)))

  • Scanning with Kodak i65 and Vista

    Hi,
I am having trouble 'Creating a PDF from Scanner' with a Kodak i65 scanner. Everytime I attempt to scan a document with Acrobat 8 and Vista I receive a scanning failed message. The 'Scan Validation Tool' scans documents fine to the .tiff format however when I try to scan documents with Acrobat 8 it doesn't work and I get 'Scanning failed.'
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Andrew

I have the exact same problem. Except I have the Kodak i30 Scanner. I have Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.1.2 (with the Security Update 1 installed).
In the past, I ran the following configurations on an older computer with no problems:
    - Windows XP & Adobe Acrobat Professional 6.0 (with all of its various updates)
    - Windows Vista & Adobe Acrobat Professional 6.0 (with all of its various updates)
    - Windows Vista & Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.1.2 (with the Security Update 1 installed)
However, when I built a new computer, installed Windows Vista Ultimate, installed the Kodak i30 Scanner, I receive a "Scanning failed." error everytime I try to scan directly into Acrobat.
BTW, I HAVE "tried with latest Scan Validation Tool and firmware update from Kodak site." Updating the SVT and firmware neither helped nor hurt.
Has anyone had a successful fix to this issue?

  • HP 6500 AIO printer scanning problems.

I recently upgraded my Mac OSX software to Snow Leopard. Now the scanner part of my HP printer no longer works. I'VE SCANNED MANY TIMES PREVIOUSLY. I tried to scan today and got messages to the effect, no scanner options, scanner was not connected to the computer, scanner not found, no scanner selected; the scanner is not initialized...
I've done the following: tried to get help from HP- they said as long as my driver sw was up to date (which it is) i should contact Apple.  I  tried to add the scanner - didn't work; setup printer again - didn't work; setup profile for scanner - didn't work; read thru scanner help topics on apple support - didn't help.   What's going on and how do i fix it?
    thx.

It doesn't install a driver version 2.7. It does in fact install for your printer driver 3.1.1. In as much as you already have that driver installed there is some other reason why you are having issues. Contact HP to resolve the scanning problem.
There is third party scanning software which is much better than HP's. Check compatibily with VueScan.

  • Printing/Scanning Problem with HP All-In-One

As you will see, I am a bit confused as to how my Mac is talking to my HP all in one. I am having printing and scanning problems. When I try to print, nothing happens. I go to print status and the print job is there but the printer is not printing. I try pausing, deleting and trying to print again, hold to no avail. It recognizes the job, it just won't print.
Scanning is similar. Most of the time I end up with an error message "The scan cannot be performed because another program has control of the HP imaging device". It directs me to restart the program, close all programs, re-boot the computer. I have done all of these and no go. In addition, no other programs are running at the time.
As far as my computer recognizing the HP, it does in both wifi and bluetooth. I have made it my default printer.
I have a time capsule as a router and everything is set up properly for it. Four bars are shown indicating it is acting properly. Both it and bluetooth are turned on. The HP status lights are on for both wifi and bluetooth.
I have checked with HP and Apple Support and could not find anything that addresses my issue. Please help!!
    Thanks

I had a similar problem awhile back with my HP F2210 all-in-one. I basically re-downloaded all of the software for the printer from HPs site. Before re-installing, I did a safe boot. Then, I reinstalled and restarted and all was well. When software update told me there was a new driver available, I installed it and things still worked. I'm able to print, scan, and all the printer is supposed to do without a hitch.

  • Scanning problem with HP Photosmart C6180

Since the upgrade to 10.6 my HP C6180 multifunction printer is not working as a scanner from Adobe Acrobat Pro 9
I select from the acrobat menu:
    File
    CreatePDF
    From Scanner
in the "acrobat scan" window Scanner: shows "Please select a device" but there is nothing in the drop down list!
This means that i can not scan a document to PDF from within Adobe Acrobat pro. I can scan through preview but preview does not provide the same features that Acrobat Pro does.
Any Ideas? I have re-installed the adobe software but no joy...

Had scanning problem after uploading Snow Leopard -
    This will fix your problem!
Scanning with the software included in Mac OS X 10.6
New with Snow Leopard, the Scanning interface to these HP Inkjet All-in-One devices is now built into Snow Leopard and supported with the Apple Image Capture application. There are three ways to perform scanning from your HP All-in-One:
    Preview program
    Image Capture program
System Preferences > Print & Fax
Important: After you open the scan interface, it is important to select the correct mode ( Flatbed or Document Feeder ) for the source of the scan image. Your HP All-in-One may have an Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) or a flatbed lid. By default, Document Feeder will be the automatically selected Mode for any devices that have an ADF. You must select Flatbed if you want to scan directly from the glass flatbed and not the Document Feeder.
For more information about Scanning and Image Capture, open the Help menu from Mac OS X 10.6 and type in your question.
Method one: Scan from the Preview application
Click the Apple Preview icon in the dock to open the Preview application.
From the Preview File pull-down menu, choose Import from Scanner .
Choose the HP Photosmart, Officejet, or Deskjet All-in-One.
The scan interface opens. Click Show Details to view settings and options.
Method two: Scan from the Image Capture application
In the Applications folder, select and open Image Capture .
In the list of devices on the left, click your HP All-in-One.
Networked devices appear in the Shared list.
The scan interface opens. Click Show Details to view settings and options.
Method three: Scan from Print & Fax > Printer browser
From the Apple menu, choose System Preferences .
    Click Print & Fax .
In the list of printers on the left side of the dialog, select the HP All-in-One to view the options in the Print & Fax window.
Click the Scan tab, and then click Open Scanner .
    The Printer Browser window appears.
Click the Scan icon at top right of the toolbar to launch scanning.
The scan interface opens. Click Show Details to view settings and options.
Important Gotcha: If the Scan or Print icons do not appear in the Printer Browser window toolbar, you need to delete the current HP printer queue and add a new one, as follows:
Close the Printer Browser window to return to the Print & Fax preference pane. Or, go directly to the System Preferences > Print & Fax pane.
Select your HP printer in the list on the left.
Click the - sign at the bottom of the list to delete the product from the list.
Click the + sign at the bottom of the list to add the product back to the list.
Select your HP printer, and then click Add to create a new print queue.
The next time you open the Printer Browser window, the Print and Scan icons should appear in the toolbar, providing access to Image Capture.

    Hello,
I think you answered the question yourself. You upgraded from Tiger to Leopard and now the scanner isn't working as it should.
You need to update the Brother drivers. Go to their web site, download and install the software, run Disk Utility and Repair Disk Permissions. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select FirstAid, then click: Repair Disk Permissions. Quit DU when it's finished and reboot.
Since you are trying to scan into Adobe software, there might be a TWAIN driver necessary to update.

  • HP6280 Scanning Problem

My HP C6280 developed a scanning problem today.  I can still scan but everything goes to HP Photostart 3.5.  I no longer can designate where I want to scans to go and what name to give them.  I do not want to use HP Photostart 3.5.  I also cannot open my desk top pictures now.  I get a "Attempt to Access Invalid Address."  The pictures used to open automatically with Photoshop.  Now I have to hunt for a program to open the pictures.  Also I get "HP Cue--scanning flow component has stopped working.  I use Windows 7 and have made no changes to my computer. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi @dgn4,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I noticed that you are having a scanning issue with your HP Photosmart c6280 on Windows 7. I am sorry to hear this, but happy to look into this for you!
I would recommend using our HP Print and Scan Doctor, sometimes this program can fix issues automatically for you!
I would also recommend this how to scan guide, How to Scan: Windows 7, as it has alternate methods of scanning as well.
Hope this helps, and have a great day!

  • HP LaserJet Pro CM1415fnw color MFP printing & scanning problems

Ever since I purchased this multifunction color printer, it has been unreliable. My Mac Mini running the latest OS (currently Mavericks OX 10.9.2) will be printing and scanning fine, and then at some point it can't find the scanner, the printing slows to an amazing crawl, and then the printing stops altogether. I have repeatedly attempted to set up the printer under Preferences and have installed the latest drivers from the HP website. When that works, it's a short-term fix; eventually, the bugs come back. The darn thing won't scan or print again, and I'm pretty fed up. I paid a premium price for a premium color multifunction printer for my home, and it has been nothing but a problem. Help!

    Hello StoopBoy,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums.
I see that you have an HP LaserJet Pro CM1415fnw color MFP being operated on a Mac 10.9.2. The CM1415fnw will not maintain a continual connection to the computer displaying errors and very slow printing. Since you have done a great job already troubleshooting the issue some of the steps I suggest will have already been done by yourself.
I suggest you take these steps to help resolve the issue:
    1. Reset the Printing Systems by following this Apple Document: Mac OS X: How to reset the printing system.
    2. Uninstall the HP LaserJet Pro CM1415fnw color MFP with this HP document: Uninstall HP printer software.
    3. Repair disk permissions on the Mac.
    4. Check for and install any and all updates on the Mac.
    5. Downlaod and Install the printer HP LaserJet Pro CM1415fnw color MFP software.
I hope this helps and will allow you to have more continual functionality with your Laserjet.
    Thanks,

  • Scanning Problem - HP Officejet Pro 8500a

I've had a problem with scanning from my iMac running 10.6.8 (and lesser versions) to my HP Officejet Pro 8500a over my wifi network.
Printing works flawlessly. When I try to scan a single-page document or photo, it scans only about HALF of the page then stops. It doesn't matter if I scan using the Preview, Print and Fax or what.
I've searched these forums for anyone reporting a similar problem but can't find any.
Any help would be appreciated. Apple Support has not been helpful.
    Thanks!

Try this: Open the HP Device Manager. Click Information and Settings. Select Scan preferences from the drop down list. Uncheck the box that says Skip Scan Preview Window. Now when you scn, you look at the preview and drag the lines to whatever you want to scan.

  • Follow-up to HP Photosmart C6180 Scan Problem

I posted the below a few days ago and since then have spoken with a few people who have experienced the same difficulty. We came to the conclusion this problem began after a recent driver update from Apple (sorry we can't remember exactly which one-about a month or so ago we think). Again any comments/suggestions would be very helpful. Thanks!
Until recently I have been able to scan wirelessly to my iMac G5 using my HP Photosmart C6180 which is equipped with a wireless card. (wireless network being run on Belkin router) However, about 3 weeks ago, every time I try to scan I get an error message saving the scanner cannot be initialized. If I desire to scan, I must connect directly using USB cable and initiate scan from the HP. Any assistance/suggestions will be most welcomed.

I have been working on this for months and tripped over the solution today - it works on all models * OS's and is network related.
    Fix as follows:
    1. Open HP Device manager program
    2. Select maintain printer form info & settings drop down - this open printer utility
    3. Click open embedded web server
    4. Select Networking tab - from connections menu select wireless
    5. Click advanced button
    6. Go to bottom of page and check ALL "compatibility" check boxes
I just scanned a 50 page document and so did a friend with same problem with a new all-in-one and windows XP pro - same problem - same fix.

  • Windows 8 + HP Officejet 6500 E709n, Scan problem

    L.s
After buying a new pc with Windows 8, the HP printer is not able to scan. After fixing the first error that occur (not recognizing the scannere at all), a new error occur. This time it says:
"The scan can not be performed because the HP imaging device in a network and is used by another program or another computer. Please try again later"
The following images with the error (in dutch)
    HP Solution Center
    HP Print and Scan doctor
Both are not very helpfull in solving this problem. Tried the following:
    - Unistallen and reinstalling is not helping
    - Turning of the router printer pc is not helping
    - HP app has no scan option
It seems that there are 2 solutions:
    1) Buying another printer which IS compatible with Windows 8
    2) Get another OS instead of Windows 8
Both are not a real option. So, HP I hope you have a solution
    This question was solved.

    Hi Paardengek,
I would suggest doing a level 3 uninstall, restarting the Windows Installer and then reinstalling.
Insert the installation CD in the computer.
Click   Cancel  to close the autorun screen.
On the Windowskeyboard, press  the Windows logo key, type  Run and tap Enter.
    Click   Browse.
Find the drive that contains the software CD, and then double-click the drive.
Click the   Util  folder, and then double-click the   CCC  folder.
    Double-click the file   Uninstall_L3.bat  .
Click   OK  to run the level 3 uninstall.
Restart the computer after the software removal process finishes.
In the   Run  window, type  Msiexec /unregister,
(there is a space before the forward slash [ / ] ) and then click  OK  .
    The  Run  window closes.
    Then,
In the  Run window, type  Msiexec /regserver
(there is a space before the forward slash [ / ] )  , and then click   OK  .
    The  Run  window closes.
These steps can all be found Here, but I have copied only what you need.
Now you can use the software CD that shipped with your product now to install, but for the most current software HP recommends downloading and installing the software from the HP Web site. If you have already downloaded the software, you do not have to download it again.
    I hope this helps

  • Mac OSx 10.6.8 with C7280 scanning problem

I have a HP Photosmart C7280 that works as a printer on my Mac computer but will not work when I try to scan. It used to scan to the computer, but I upgraded to OS X 10.6.8 and now it won't. I can't do any more upgrades because my computer hardware won't support them, so I need to find out how to make this Mac computer using this software setup and my C7280 printer/scanner to work correctly again.
I really need to scan some old photos, that is one reason I selected this printer and it is frustrating because it used to work just fine. I even put in a Memory Device (in this case a SanDisk Cruzer USB 2.0 Flash Drive) in the printer but it doesn't even highlight that as an option I can select.
When I checked the HP Device Manager on my desktop it shows the HP Photosmart C7200 series, but when I click on Scan Picture I get an Error, Scanner could not be initialized  (scanner not found).
What I need to do to get the computer to find the printer as a scanner (it works to print) now, or even to scan to the flash drive?
